Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

    Hurricane Danny (2015)

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Image position dispute. B dash (talk) 06:57, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. MusikAnimal talk 22:08, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Norfolk Island at the Commonwealth Games

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 10:00, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, We let this one sit too long, stale and no activity now. Courcelles (talk) 04:10, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Hurricane Harvey

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP keep adding wrong wind speed. B dash (talk) 02:16, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined The disruptive edits are fairly infrequent, so I think the existing pending-changes protection is sufficient MusikAnimal talk 01:54, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    WWE Raw Tag Team Championship

Temporary Extended confirmed protection: for 9 days - Copyright / vandalism / unsorted content / disruptive content / possible use of multiple accounts to break rules – Users keep posting copyright stuff and vandalism disrespectfully after a absurd match. 🥇BUSriderSFUser (talkcontribs) 03:52, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    • Note This page appears to have been protected about 20 minutes after this request was made - GalatzTalk 15:00, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Respond A kid won a title last night at WrestleMania 34 after randomly being picked from the crowd watching. Due to absurd match, the editors may can violate the WP:ALIVE policy rules. Extended Confirmed Protection is needed for 9 days as this "expected to last about 1 week (I put +2 more days just incase"
      • Its locked for 7 days, no one is going to increase that just in case (see #5 above), its a standard period of time for it to be locked. If there is still vandalism after a new claim can be opened at that time. - GalatzTalk 20:14, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yea, Vandals on All WWE Raw Tag Champions should be protected, (All WWE Raw Tag Team Champion Wikipedia Page, Braun Strowman Wikapedia Page, Cesaro and Sheamus Wikipedia Page, (Independent pages) Cesaro Wikipedia Page, and Sheamus Wikipedia Page for the next 7 days. 🥇BUSriderSFUser (talkcontribs) 20:19, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Impact Wrestling

Semi-protection: Page recently came off a 1 week lock and same vandals are back. We have consensus to include who is the #2 and #3 professional wrestling organization in the US in a specific vague way, since there are no true metrics. IP users (and another user who has been banned before for identical editing) are continually coming in and changing the wording against the consensus. GalatzTalk 14:58, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Attack helicopter

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism related to gender and LGBT topics; this is related to an internet meme and the vandalism on this page will likely continue indefinitely if not protected. Nanophosis (talk) 15:26, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Baby Driver

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism by several IP users. Areaseven (talk) 16:10, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    John Cone

Semi-protection: A kid won a title last night at WrestleMania after being chosen from the audience. There are rumors online that this was John Cone's son, but as of right now these are unconfirmed and not reported by a WP:RS. Many IP editors are editing this page to add this information in violation of WP:BLP. Being that it is about a 10-year-old kid I feel the level of editing warrants a page lock, 7 days is hopefully more than enough. - GalatzTalk 16:19, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Berkhamsted School

Permanent Semi-protection: Persistent long-term vandalism largely by dynamic IP repeatedly inserting a non-notable Youtuber to list of Old Berkhamstedians. Several editors have attempted to explain the rules here, but to no avail. Has been doing this since at least September 2016, returning after previous expiry of page protections. The IP has now - presumably in a fit of pique - just deleted from the page many highly notable people from the list. MichaelMaggs (talk) 19:29, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Antisemitism in the Labour Party

    Temporary full-protection: - Persistent editwarring over content. 109.149.169.16 (talk) 19:42, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Amhara Region

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Frequent vandalism arbitrarily changing the population and demographics of the region. Turtlewong (talk) 23:37, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. MusikAnimal talk 01:56, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Colby Covington

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Handled requests

A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Wikipedia: Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
