Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 87.78.253.196 (talk) at 08:11, 1 September 2012 (→‎Maria Redaelli-Granoli: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions nor to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Grassroots Shakespeare London

  • Grassroots shakespeare london · ( talk | logs | links | watch ) · [revisions] contribs) deleted page Grassroots shakespeare london (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content): Also WP:CSD#G11 - unambiguous promotion) The significance was explained. This is an award nominated company. It is significant that it was only established a year ago and has significant recognition on the London fringe scene. It has been recommended by the Evening Standard, which has a significant standing in the London community with a distribution of 700,00 and by Time Out, also a significant publication with significant weight. It is no more unambiguous promotion that the RSC having a page explaining who they are. This company is making a name for itself in London and while that might not seem signicant to someone with no knowledge or interest in the London theatre scene, it is of significance to Londoners and those interested in its theatre. This company has performed at the RSC and as part of the World Shakespeare Festival, which are significant accolades and significant venues. They have also been nominated twice for the significant Off West End Awards, all of which was linked and explained in the article. This is extremely significant in the London theatre scene. The person deleting the article did not request any further information which could have easily been supplied. They are no more insignificant than http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Night_Out_Presents incidentally this theatre has closed down and this article is out of date. I would like this article to be reinstated. I am happy to edit it but it is worthy and significant enough to be included in Wikipedia}}

not enough reason to delete it while I am still working on the detail of the article -Dark star in ocean (talk) 14:45, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - As announced at the top of the page, this process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially and has no applicability to articles deleted after any deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Andy Laode Abdul Hasan, it cannot be undeleted through this process. Nevertheless, if you believe that the consensus found at the discussion was in error, or that significant new information has come to light since the deletion, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Mark Arsten (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:20, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Christopher du pont Roosevelt

significant public figure and grandson of FDR -75.250.125.31 (talk) 04:39, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. I will notify user Michael A. White (talk), who proposed it, and who may choose to nominate it at WP:Articles for deletion, which would start a debate lasting seven days to which you would be welcome to contribute. The article needs to show, with references, how he is notable in Wikipedia's sense in his own right; just being the grandson of a president is not enough. Afghan_Hound_Academy

This is an informative website which is in concept and development stage coupled with a discussion group concerning afghan hound dogs and has recently been cited in Dog News USA as one of the most informative and respected Facebook discussion groups available. We are developing the website further. Academy is an on line educational resource using the Facebook API. The reason for the wiki page is to add this to the encylopedia due to its status as a very relevant touchpoint for people involved in afghan hound dogs from the American Kennel Club to over 1400 people globally who enter into debate on the breed. This was not entered for promotional reasons and is not simply a blog forum. The Academy is quickly becoming a very important touchpoint for these niche global community in the past months since its inception hence why I write this and say that this article should NOT be deleted and be reinstated. This was deleted by Smalljim within 10 minutes of being published. Thank you... -Josephleebrown (talk) 10:02, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles concerning companies. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning companies will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:16, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jneiro Jarel

Reason it was deleted is inaccurate -Indigo84 (talk) 15:52, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It states that certain content was removed from this page due to a "potential copyright issue". I'm not really sure which part of the article this specifies but, I am Jneiro Jarel's personal assistant and the original author of the material which has been removed. I created part of it as a promo statement for his 2010 release "Android Love Mayhem" (which has been re used in various online medias and publications); I am the original author, however. I also wrote the original content on this page which I recently made several edits to, in order to condense the topics of discussion. I planned on making several more edits and tweaks to this page, due to the fact that Jneiro's new album was just released on August 21st. This is all interfering with that process now. I read the section on possible solutions to this content removal but, quite honestly, it was like reading Chinese, lol. If it could be put to me (in simplified terms) what I need to do in order to have the content put back on the page, and to prevent things like this from happening in the future, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. :-)

You will ahve to prove that you do indeed own the copyright to the text. One way to do this is to put a CC-BY-SA-3.0 license on the bottom on the copied pages (http://www.grooveattack.com/2005/01/20/features_103/ http://www.grooveattack.com/2010/09/10/jneiro-jarel/). And another ways is described at WP:PERMIT. You can state your case at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2012 August 22. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:53, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Harold Jaffe

Hi guys ...

I am unaware of why the page was originally deleted. Harold Jaffe is a renouned author of international regard. He's published countless stories and 18 books that have been translated across nine languages. He is also the 30-year editor of Fiction International, which has been named one of the world's top literary magazines.

More information can be seen at the following websites:

http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~hjaffe/bio.html (academic website) http://www.fictioninternational.com/ http://www.jaffeantijaffe.com/

Parenthetically, Jaffe is referenced numerous times throughout Wikipedia itself, including reference to his contributions to the literary form of bizarro fiction.

It seems appropriate that he should be included in WP.

Thanks.

Palm Beach Makos

reasoning -Steenster (talk) 15:06, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How is it fair to delete the page of the "Palm Beach Makos" when the same type of minor league team the "Palm Beach Mariners" remain in Wikipedia. Our team provides a public service as a community based non-profit. Both college students and school age children have done reports on the team. We have been invited to judge presentations on the Makos by college students at Northwood University. The question has come-up on dozens of occasions as to why there was no info on Wikipedia on the Makos. The students did research via google, yahoo, and other search engines. The Mariners remain in Wiki and the Makos are deleted immendiately. The only different in the two teams is that the Mariners are managed by a 50 year old guy with no formal education whom lives with his mother. The Makos are managed by two African American retired Marines (combat veteran and disabled veteran) with post graduate degrees. This is a insult to our organization, our military service, and the military branches that support the Makos. Please restore the Makos page. Please call me to discuss I can be reached at [details removed]

Hello. This article was deleted for some reason. The item is still being sold at Newegg and other sites. The item has not been replaced with another model, and is still being used by many people. I do not understand why the article was deleted. Cisco/Linksys still supports the device. Various VOIP providers support it.

If there is a real, legitimate reason for the deletion, can you please explain? I tried linking this to a friend for reference since I am trying to convince him to save money by switching to VOIP.

If nothing can be done to restore the page, is there a way I can get a copy of the old page before it is lost forever? I will host it myself if I must. I love the device and think something must have happened accidentally, or that a competing product is trying to bury the competition.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

grounds for deletion seemed not fully resonable given the topic. Also there are several articles referring to it. Even if some of the information in the article are doubtful there's no ground to delete it completely. Further -- this page went through a deletion and restoration in 2008 under its previous WikiWord (yeah, that's red, because the redirect targeting the new WikiWord was also deleted, but the history is still shown there), and thus this page was not eligible for PROD (see #4) at all! -MacTed (talk) 13:57, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To see it, click on the title, when you will be taken to a section of Homophobia, but if you now scroll up to the head of that article, just beneath the title you will see (Redirected from Homonegativity) and clicking on that link will take you back to the redirect, when the "View History" tab will give you access to previous versions. Gary Shaw; Gary E. Shaw; Gary Edgar Shaw

This article was originally submitted with the assistance of my son GDShaw (Garan D. Shaw.) I then checked it for accuracy, making a few changes. My suspension as to why the article was deleted, is that I have led a Horatio Alger type life, which some people find unbelievable. Everything in this article is true. I came from a poor background to having worked for prominent persons such as US House Speaker Carl Albert, Hugo Mann (German Retailer/Industrialist), Jim Senegal (CEO of COSTCO), have had many accomplishments and and awards which are all a part of my biographical information. I can understand why my biography may seem by some to be a self promotion but I assure everyone that everything in the article was meant to be a biographical documentation of my life. In example, when I say that I have met and conversed with six presidents, is this a self promotion or a statement of one of my life's biographical experiences? I find it somewhat offensive that persons who have never met me , talked with me or have no first-hand knowledge of my life, label my biography as self-promotional. I respectfully request that this article be undeleted. Thank You, Gary Edgar Shaw — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.129.88.226 (talk) 23:57, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. This article was deleted as a result of the deletion discussion at WP:Articles for deletion/Gary Shaw; Gary E. If you consider that the discussion was wrongly decided, or you have new information, you should first approach user Courcelles (talk), the administrator who closed the discussion; then, if your concerns are not addressed, you can go to WP:Deletion review. Please understand that having met or worked for notable people does not confer notability in Wikipedia's terms, and that writing about oneself or one's family in Wikipedia is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at Wikipedia:Autobiography and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
