Hi CAPTAIN RAJU,

Thanks for pointing out that I forgot to add categories. I got that fixed.

Best,

Queens University Belfast is in Northern Ireland, so that might be a more appropriate listing. Or just hedge best with "UK" - we don't know where he was born. PamD 08:04, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the British in article categories. That's why I tagged England delsort.I've already changed delsort tag.I was replaced the United Kingdom in place of the England delsort tag.CAPTAIN RAJU(T) 09:04, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
British is British, but not necessarily English. You can upset a lot of Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish people this way - not to mention the Cornish! Seriously, please don't assume that all of Britain is England. It isn't. PamD 12:02, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2017 September newsletter

Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best man (or woman) win! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Issue with a troll

Hi, mate. I use the account "PeterMan844" to edit pages, and I am always using verifiable proof or citations to improve articles, but I had to post this request with my own IP address to avoid detection from a troll who continues to follow me around online. There's this annoying loser who keeps harassing me on message boards, posting abuse, and he has now followed me here, to Wikipedia. He is vandalizing my edits regarding Sylvester Stallone being an extra in films. He is doing this for no other reason than to harass me personally, because I talked about my beef with IMDb.com elsewhere, and this person is just stalking me based on information I provide about my Internet habits.

He is using the alias "HaggisHeadS" here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Sidelong_Glances_of_a_Pigeon_Kicker&action=history

Please help. This man is also sending people to my friend's house, because he got his address from a video we had on YouTube which has since been made private. He won't go away. He keeps spamming and abusing me on anxiety related forums that aren't regulated any more, but nobody signs in very often who can deal with the hassle.

All the best!

New stub types

Hello! Just a reminder, instead of creating new templates and categories for just one or two articles, please check the List of stub types, or under Category:Stub categories, to make sure that an appropriate stub tag doesn't already exist. Stub categories should not be created, unless there are at least 60 articles for a particular template, and new templates are usually unnecessary, if one already exists in the same genre. And before creating new stub categories and templates, please follow the procedures at WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals. Thanks! Fortdj33 (talk) 04:31, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I understood your advice.There was not stub for my article.Stub/template was needed for the article.That's why I've created some stub/template.CAPTAIN RAJU(T) 11:06, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The point is, there is a procedure for creating stub templates. You should not arbitrarily create stub tags, just because you think they are needed for a specific article. And even if a new stub tag is necessary, you should propose an upmerged template that would feed into currently existing stub categories, until such time that there are enough stubs for a separate stub category. If you wish to propose a stub type which does not currently have 60 articles that could use it, please do so at WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals. Moving titles at AfD

Hi Raju, hope all is well. Just dropping a note because I think it is generally a bad idea to move titles while an AfD is ongoing unless there is a pressing reason to do so like you did at David Coffey. This is mainly because if the article is recreated, it will probably be under the same title as the original AfD, so it could mess up the bot. It also has the potential to confuse AfD participants. I've moved the original AfD and cleaned the links up for now. Also, thanks for all the work you do with deletion sorting. It makes the process go a lot more smoothly :) TonyBallioni (talk) 18:22, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewer granted

Hello CAPTAIN RAJU. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Alex ShihTalk 05:37, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

NOTE: Please understand that your patrolling may come under close scrutiny and can be revoked again. The effort should be to use the purpose designed Page Curation tools rather than Twinkle - especially in view of the now live ACTRIAL. The instructions have also been updated, please read WP:NPP again. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:46, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Sexandroide requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Pannonian

Hi, this discussion left me with the impression that redirecting to History of Romanian would rest on an unverifiable impressionistic idea for a connection, while redirecting to Keszthely culture (which already has a section on Pannonian Romance) would avoid any OR-ish implications. New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello CAPTAIN RAJU, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!

Technology update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225

General project update:

  • On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
  • Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:16, 19 September 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Bean music

Out of curiosity I looked at some of the above-mentioned films. It looks as if you created a lot of articles using a template or formula. What is "bean music"? I can't even think of a probable typo. Please fix this and take more care. Thanks. PamD 04:21, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for noted. It was my mistake.I fixed the bean music to been music from all my articles.CAPTAIN RAJU(T) 12:06, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
But even the sentence "This film has been music composed by Erik Lundmark." (example from No Strings Attached (1997 film)) isn't good English. Do you mean "This film's music was composed by Erik Lundmark"? If so, say so. Please take the time and trouble to write clear English. Thank you. PamD 17:34, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Hi, CAPTAIN RAJU. I wanted to bring this discussion to your attention. Your dedication to the project is evident, and many of the background work that you have been doing (in relisting AfD discussions, for example) have been invaluable. But I wanted to emphasize that quality is always preferred over quantity, and if you are creating unreferenced pages with little indicator of notability as a Reviewer, it undermines the confidence of the community on NPP. So I am hoping that while you improve the quality of your content creation, you would also exercise extra care than usual over your patrolling, so that your Reviewer access does not have to be temporarily removed as well. Regards, Alex ShihTalk 15:28, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Going to second this. Please don't relist AfDs for a third time without a good reason (for example, if someone adds new sources at the end of the second relist), and please leave that reason as a relisting comment - "last relist" is not a valid relisting comment, especially since someone already stated that there was no reason to relist the first two times and asked someone to close the discussion. Leave them to the admins - heck, you could have even closed that one yourself. I know I would have, had I seen it earlier. Thanks, ansh666 09:14, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That's not the conventional wisdom - there are whole ranges of templates aimed at IP editors. Some IP addresses are very dynamic, others not. It's worth leaving a message in the hope that the appropriate editor will read it. PamD 12:28, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I don't know how to fix this, but suspect you probably do. Comments on some of the Sri Lankan cricketers under general AfD currently don't seem to be transferring across to the "local" discussions on the cricket-related, Sri Lanka-related and sportspeople-related AfD discussions. How does one make all the comments appear in all the places? Thanks. Johnlp (talk) 21:05, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Asian Month 2017: Invitation to Participate

Hello! Last year, you signed up to participate in Wikipedia Asian Month (WAM) 2016 on the English Wikipedia. The event was an international success, with hundreds of editors creating thousands of articles on Asian topics across dozens of different language versions of Wikipedia.

I'd like to invite you to join us for Wikipedia Asian Month 2017, which once again lasts through the month of November. The goal is for users to create new articles on Asian-related content, each at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words in length. Editors who create at least four articles will receive a Wikipedia Asian Month postcard!

Also be sure to check out the Wikipedia Asian Art Month affiliate event - creating articles on Asian art topics can get you a Metropolitan Museum of Art postcard!

If you're interested, please sign up here for the English Wikipedia. If you are interested in also working on other language editions of Wikipedia, please visit the meta page to see other participating projects. If you have any questions, please visit our talk page.

Thank you!

- User:SuperHamster and User:Titodutta on behalf of The English Wikipedia WAM Team

This will be the last message you receive from the English Wikipedia WAM team for being a 2016 participant. If you sign up for WAM 2017, you will continue receiving periodic updates on the 2017 event.

Sunday November 19, 10:30 am - 4:00pm: Metropolitan Museum of Art Edit-a-thon

The Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ The Met will be the Metropolitan Museum of Art's second edit-a-thon, hosted on Sunday November 19, 2017 in the Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Following the first Met edit-a-thon in May 2017, the museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely.

10:30 am - 4:00 pm in Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Uris Center for Education
81st Street entrance, Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue

Attendees should bring their own laptops and power cords. Light snacks, drinks and cake will be provided.

We also welcome remote participation for the global online Wikipedia Asian Art Month, running November 1-30.

Thanks, and hope to see you at the museum, and/or as part of the online Wikipedia Asian Month contest!--Pharos (talk) 16:36, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. Your participation in the contest and contributing articles on British women from your area or wherever would we much appreciated. Thanks.

Wednesday November 15, 7pm: WikiWednesday Salon and Skill-Share NYC @ NYU ITP

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our monthly "WikiWednesday" evening salon (7-9pm) and knowledge-sharing workshop at NYU ITP Tisch School of the Arts (4th floor) at 721 Broadway in Manhattan.

We will include a look at the organization and planning for our chapter, and expanding volunteer roles for both regular Wikipedia editors and new participants.

We will also follow up on plans for recent and upcoming edit-a-thons, museum and library projects, education initiatives, and other outreach activities.

We welcome the participation of our friends from the Free Culture movement and from all educational and cultural institutions interested in developing free knowledge projects.

After the main meeting, pizza/chicken/vegetables and refreshments and video games in the gallery!

7:00pm - 9:00 pm at NYU ITP Tisch School of the Arts (4th floor), 721 Broadway
(note that we are not at Babycastles this month)

We especially encourage folks to add your 5-minute lightning talks to our roster, and otherwise join in the "open space" experience! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Pharos (talk) ~~~~~

P.S. You are also invited to Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ Metropolitan Museum of Art on Sunday November 19!

(You can subscribe/unsubscribe from future notifications for NYC-area events by adding or removing your name from this list.)

Apologies, Captain - the speedy keep close instructions at AFD were a bit confusing. I was trying to save the regular closers some time, and ended up making a mess. Thank you for correcting it. Atsme📞📧 13:45, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Critchlow

Just let you know, I undid some of your deletion sorting with respect to Joe Critchlow. In the titles of WP namespace pages, football usually refers to association football (soccer), whereas Critchlow plays Canadian football, an entirely different sport with its own WikiProject. I hope you don't mind. Sir Sputnik (talk) 22:02, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cap; requesting you to not re-list unnecessarily

Hi Cap, wanted to request you to not re-list Afds like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hindu Bulletin if there have been no comments opposing deletions. This is as per the updated deletion policy which I had mentioned in the said Afd. I had requested The Bushranger earlier and would request them again to close this Afd as a delete. Thanks. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ekti Ghrinyo Golpo

I am requesting you reverse your non-admin closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ekti Ghrinyo Golpo and let an admin handle it. The keep arguments did not provide any substance, and in particular, they did not provide the significant coverage in independent reliable sources that are needed to meet notability. -- Whpq (talk) 12:27, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@CAPTAIN RAJU: - please respond. -- Whpq (talk) 00:46, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
