History

Notable winners

Colleen Francisca was crowned Miss Singapore World in 2006.[1] In 2007, Roshni Kaur Soin was the winner of the competition.[2] Ris Low, who was named Miss Singapore World in 2009, gave up her crown because it was discovered that she had committed credit card fraud to buy lingerie;[3] she had spent approximately $8,000 in total[4] spread out over at least three stolen credit cards.[5] She later admitted that her stealing of credit cards had followed her childhood activity of stealing Pokémon cards.[6] Pilar Arlando, that year's second runner up, replaced Low at the Miss World 2009 competition.[7] In 2011, Julia Morley, the chief executive officer of the Miss World pageant, criticized the Miss Singapore World competition for "having a showgirl club image."[8]
