Mount Dennis is an LRT station and intermodal transit terminal currently under construction which will serve as the western terminus for the Toronto Transit Commission's Eglinton Crosstown line and subsequently as a stop on the GO Transit Kitchener line and the Union Pearson Express. [1] The terminal forms part of a mobility hub,[2] an area ripe for development that will form the basis for future planning and real estate initiatives. A study for the site was completed in August 2013 by a team of consultants led by Urban Strategies setting out elements of a vision that included repurposing historic structures, revitalizing Weston Road, and improving the public realm throughout the site.[2]

Located in the neighbourhood of Mount Dennis on the north side of Eglinton Avenue just east of Weston Road, the station is scheduled to open in 2020.[3]

The station is to be built predominantly on land which was formerly the site of the Kodak Mount Dennis campus, which operated from 1918 to 2006.[3] The complex will incorporate an underground LRT station, a 15 bay bus terminal, a GO train station, and the maintenance and storage facilities for the LRT rolling stock.[4][5][6][7][8]

Station design

A draft prepared on April 10, 2013 established four designs for the station.[8] In all the designs the underground LRT platform will be 150 meters long—long enough for four vehicle trainsets. Two designs placed the bus platform on the north side of Eglinton, accessed through a 230 metre pedestrian tunnel. In the other two designs the bus platform(s) were on the south side of Eglinton, accessed through a 260 metre pedestrian tunnel.
