Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: User 46.173.xxx.xxx keeps removing content that is actually supported by the references provided. In doing so, their edits are completely uncommented. Given that this user seems to edit with a different IP number every time, I have left a note at the article's talk page, but there was no response. Declined. The IPs are all part of the same range, most probably allocated to the Lenin Library in Moscow city centre. This is a large building and is a logical venue for anyone editing a high profile article such as this one, so this may not be the work of one editor. Not all of these IP edits appear to be disruptive and the unwanted edits by IPs can be contained by the continued vigilance of editors watching the article. Other concerns, including possible editor ownership, have been expressed; these are issues that should be resolved in talk page discussion - semi protection would not help. Declined All vandalism from one IP, who has received a final warning. On next incident report to WP:AIV and a block should do it. GoodnightmushTalk 00:25, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Within the last three days, other than the reverts and the 2 edits, there's been vandalism. ZappaOMati 21:07, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Elba Esther Gordillo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Mexican newspaper reported vandalism on this page and that it was rapidly reverted. The subject is a controversial figure and the news article seems to have prompted a rash of copycat vandalism.

Original article (in spanish) which seems to have prompted this rash: http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/notas/870539.html. Tarl.Neustaedter (talk) 21:01, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:51, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    • Declined I took a close look at the IP edits, and most of them are constructive. The vandalism seems to come from a single new registered user. I've warned him but he seems to have left for the day. If he returns, or if IP vandalism increases, let us know. :-) KrakatoaKatie 19:40, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    America's Next Top Model, Cycle 19 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent addition of fake information by IPs, most recently this. Article seems to be a target for disruptive editors. I've even had to warn some of the regulars about disruptive editing and borderline vandalism.[1]. AussieLegend (talk) 15:28, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Constant addition of unsourced and rumored information. Shadow (talk) 18:57, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    • Done X Factor semi-locked for two months; X Factor season 2 semi-locked for two weeks (probably not long enough but a two-month lock seems excessive to start with). KrakatoaKatie 20:06, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

NO longer used so does not need protection. Rich Farmbrough, 02:44, 15 September 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Semi-protection: The same IP is removing info for days now. I can't call it edit warring as reverts occure every 24 hours or more. --Wüstenfuchs 14:21, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. The same IP is changing the subject's religion from Sunni Islam to Islam. I don't see any comments or warnings on the IP's talk page despite your repeated reversions. The religion of the subject is of course subject to WP:BLPCAT, and I don't see any clear self-identification that the subject is Sunni Islam (or Sunni Muslim) in the article, although I did not read it carefully, only that he was born to a Sunni Muslim family - and even that has a strange first source that I don't think even mentions the subject's name (also the second source should point to the relevant article, not a list of articles). Given the subject's position, it may be self-evident that he is Sunni, but, if so, we still need a source saying he describes himself that way.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:18, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

long term semi protection - IP hopping individual with an ax to grind keeps adding inappropriate content to this article about a living person. requesting a 6 month protection period for them to cool down or sources supporting the claims to appear. -- The Red Pen of Doom 12:25, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
