Revision as of 05:11, 13 February 2013

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Need temporary full protection of this article to encourage editors to discuss the ongoing content dispute. A discussion has been opened, but is being mostly ignored. ► Belchfire-TALK 05:11, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Fiona Graham (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations – This article has long been plagued by either fans of the subject or the subject herself editing the article to add unsourced claims or make changes that contradict sourced changes. . Qwyrxian (talk) 04:28, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Banned socking editor keeps using an IPs to reinsert their changes. Bidgee (talk) 03:20, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Melbourne General Post Office (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Banned socking editor keeps using an IPs to reinsert their changes. Bidgee (talk) 03:18, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Christopher Jordan Dorner (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – we have a couple of new users who are continually adding that he's a radical liberal terrorist w/o reliable sourcing; I don't think they're autoconfirmed, so semi-protection should be enough. Go Phightins! 02:43, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Those accounts are indeed autoconfimed - the page was already semiprotected. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:46, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This seems like a really controversial topic (for a good reason). Full protection for edit warring may be a good idea here, but I'll leave the call to the admins of course. Vacation9 03:03, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah...well, it seems right now us non-admins have it under control as now that he's confirmed dead, not much can happen other than vandalism that continually is calling him a terrorist. It's something to monitor, though. Go Phightins! 03:06, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, just found that out. BLP violations are no longer an issue, so should be fine. Vacation9 03:16, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of Dora the Explorer episodes (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism by 189.197.xxx.xxx IPs. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 00:49, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Nigel Owens (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Ongoing vandalism of a BLP. An openly homosexual sports referee tends to attract the lowest common denominator. However he is still actively refereeing so some worthwhile updates by ips and others can occur. Most vandalism is obvious (recent examples in history) so there should be little effort in preventing its addition. AIRcorn (talk) 00:48, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. All vandalism in last 6 months has been work of a single user, who has been blocked. Feel free to request again if unconstructive edits recur. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:42, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Users and IP addresses are commiting vandalism against this page in large numbers. Cmckain14 (talk) 23:28, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pago Pago International Airport (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: There's an ongoing conflict of interest in the article, where Jmon323 (talk · contribs) attempts to add stuff that belongs to a travel guide, not to an encyclopedia. Jetstreamer Talk 22:45, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedWarn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. And Jmon323 is also over 3RR now, so warn him appropriately, and if he persists, report at WP:3RRN. If there is only one problematic user, RFPP is usually not necessary (or better: not the tool of choice). Lectonar (talk) 23:11, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistant vandalism every minute from IP. Blocking request, think temporary protection suggestible just in case . Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud 21:21, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, blocking seems to have done the trick. If vandalism recurs after block expires or user returns with different IP, please report—if recurs from multiple IPs/users, feel free to file another request for protection. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:17, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – IP editors changing team information for a pending deal, which has not been officially announced. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:34, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Declined. Seems official to me. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:15, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Violet Dickson (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Since December 2012, an anonymous editor with a roving IP keeps changing dates, for example, claiming that the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the American liberation occurred in 1996-1997. I'd like to see permanent semi-protection but will accept three months. There's been no other activity on this page since 11 October 2012. Fantr (talk) 19:18, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Tentatively declined. This appears to be the work of a single user in a narrow IP range, has occurred at broad intervals and was caught relatively quickly every time. If the user persists, consider warning/reporting instead. Leaving this up as another admin may disagree. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:38, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Did you ask protecting admin User:Anthony Appleyard? Best usually to ask the protecting admin first before requesting here.tutterMouse (talk) 19:40, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
