Peter Boykin (born May 13, 1977) is a Gay Republican [1], political commentator [2], information technology (IT) professional [3], Podcaster[4] and activist for the #GoRight Movement [5], Author [6], former political candidate residing in Greensboro, North Carolina [7], and is well known for founding the Gays for Trump organization. [8]. Peter Boykin is also an avid supporter of United States president Donald Trump. [9].

Early life and personal life

Peter Boykin was born in Florida and grew up in Virginia. He now resides in North Carolina [10] Boykin holds an Associate's degree in Information Systems Technology from Danville Community College. He also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Web Development, a Master of Science (MS) in Information Security and Assurance from Purdue University, and an MS in E-Commerce & Entrepreneurship from Purdue. Political Career

In 2016, Boykin founded the Gays for Trump organization which gained national attention as it solicited support from gay Americans for then-dark horse candidate Donald Trump through widespread social media messaging and outreach. [12]

Gays for Trump has also organized events, like the “WAKE UP!” party at the 2016 Republican National Convention to celebrate President Donald Trump’s nomination as the Republican Party candidate. In attendance were prominent Far-right figures, such as former Breitbart News editor and right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos. [13]

Boykin also planned and hosted the "Gay" DeploraBall Presidential Inauguration event in Maryland on the night of President Trumps Inauguration which was covered by many media outlets. [14]

Boykin maintains multiple public Facebook pages including one for the Gays for Trump Organization [15]and a private Facebook group for Gays For Trump, where nearly 2,600 members bond over their identity of advocating gay rights and backing President Trump’s agenda. [16]

After Trump became president, Boykin began hosting the MAGA First News [17] radio show on the Pro-Trump news and commentary website, MAGA One Radio. [18] as well as his own personal website where he regularly posts his news and commentary on current political events. [19][20]

Boykin has since changed his Podcast from Maga First News into the Podcast #GoRight with Peter Boykin which is broadcast through various social media outlets. [21]

In February 2018, Boykin announced that he was running for North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 58. [22] [23] After advancing from the primary on May 8, 2018 and receiving the backing of the North Carolina Republican Party [24] he lost in the general election on November 6, 2018 to the North Carolina Democratic Party candidate, Amos Quick. On May 2019 Boykin launched the #GoRight Campaign [27] [28]

It is strongly hinted that Boykin will run again but this time for a United States Federal Political office. "Boykin May Run for a Seat in the North Carolina Senate" was published by Heavy.com along with 5 facts about Boykin [29] Though with research Boykin seems to have his eye on US Congress and not the Senate as Boykin has created a Facebook page for such an event, no current year of running has been listed as of yet. Controversies

Views on The Military Transsexual Ban

Boykin was featured in The Daily Beast [31] for his controversial support of Donald Trump's ban on transgender people serving in the United States Armed Forces. In an interview with The Daily Beast he said that transgender soldiers are “mentally challenged” and too expensive for the military. Boykin also said, “People already have enough problems with PTSD, I don’t think it’s a good idea to give someone going through that type of change a weapon. They might snap and turn it on their fellow soldiers.” [32] [33] LGBTQ Nation even declared Boykin "Dangerous for Transexual People" [34] a claim that Boykin has denied in an article with QNotes Titled "Politician and Gays For Trump leader Boykin says he’s not transphobic, despite anti-trans position" [35]

Social media controversies and bans

In May 2019, Boykin, Founder of the organization 'Gays for Trump,' has had both his personal "verified" account of 106,000 followers, and business accounts on Twitter suspended while receiving minimal feedback from the popular Social Media company. Boykin has discussed in many interviews how social media companies should be regulated regarding freedom of speech, and how this type of censorship can interfere with how individuals and businesses are able to make money.[36]

Boykin Attacked by Antifa and Black Lives Matter

Boykin was attacked by Antifa and a Black Lives Matter individual while covering the aftermath of the Unite the Right rally, and the illegal removal of a Confederate Statue in Durham NC. [37]

March 4 Trump

There was a series of more than two dozen demonstrations organized throughout the United States on March 4, 2017, in support of President Donald Trump. [41] [42] [43]

Peter Boykin helped organize and ran the March 4 Trump event in Washington DC [44] of which Joy Villa and Andre Soriano were key note speakers [45]

2nd Annual March 4 Trump

Boykin held a 2nd March 4 Trump Rally at the Lincoln Memorial it had a smaller turn out of 50 individuals and was an open mic format with no large celebrities present. “Gays For Trump” President Peter Boykin called the march a triumph, but the turnout wasn’t great at all. The Washington Blade reported that about 100 people showed up around noon to the rally at the Lincoln Memorial, but then only 25 stuck around to march towards the White House after that. [46] This prompted a lot of ridicule from the Gay media since the rally was ran by Gays For Trump.

MAGA MEGA Rally

The organization Gays for Trump organized a Make America Great Again Free Speech Rally. It took place on the National Mall near the White House on Saturday, July 1. Boykin held a “Make America Great Again Free Speech Rally” only 18 people attended. Boykin blamed the low turnout on people celebrating the July 4 holiday weekend. March Against Sharia

Peter Boykin, president of Gays for Trump was the local coordinator for the Raleigh anti-sharia rally organized nationally by ACT for America. Although exact counts were difficult to gauge, the fifty or so people gathered for the anti-sharia event were outnumbered by counter-protesters by a factor of five or six. [48]

Gays for Trump founder Peter Boykin is a self-proclaimed ‘proud gay Republican’, Boykin urges Americans to ‘get out of the bed and vote’. Reportedly, he was one of the very few LGBTI Republican candidates in the US when he ran in 2018. Boykin is quoted as saying he represents ‘everyone in his district’. Furthermore, he added: ‘Straight, gay, bi, Democrat, Liberal, Republican, Conservative, Libertarian… I don’t care, I am your representative.’

Boykin, who is partnered to an African-American man, reports he does not like the term LGBT, preferring to leave the T out of it. ‘I prefer “Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and allies,”‘ he told Greensboro’s Triad City Beat. ‘They have their own agenda. We can support it, but we can’t let them interfere with what we have accomplished. Truly I don’t consider transgender to be gay.’ [53]

Boykin also has writen, “It’s time we #TakeBackPride and #ComeOutForAmerica it’s time for the LGB to EXIT #LGBexit…#LGBTQ #GayPride no longer needs to be associated with Extremism. [54]
