Resource Request
Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Finding a source

Tips for finding a source yourself
  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email
  • Consider signing up for The Wikipedia Library, a place for active Wikipedia editors to gain access to reliable sources
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable

Note that sites like LibGen and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a very large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request
  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN ISSN, PMID, etc.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived

Fulfilling a request

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
    • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
    • upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
    • email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.

Copyright tips:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
  • Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
  • Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

Some video game reviews

  • "Worms". Amiga Action (78). January 1996. ISSN 0957-4050.
  • "Christmas Games Guide". Computer Trade Weekly. No. 565. 1995-11-27. p. 43.
  • "Worms". PC Review (41, 49–51). United Kingdom. 1995. ISSN 0266-321X. — there must be a review of Worms in one the issues, most probably in one from 49 to 51. Also there's possibly a preview of this game in the issue 41 or so. The reason for me believing so is that it was mentioned in The One magazine that PC Review also expressed interest in this game. Unfortunately, 1995 issues of this magazine are unavailable online.
  • "Worms". PC Games (8). United Kingdom. 1995. ISSN 1351-0290. — there could be a preview of Worms in this one too as it was also mentioned in The One as one of the magazines that participated in testing the early version of the game. It shut down before the game was released, but there still may be a preview, presumably in its March 1995 issue (008).

Hello guys, looking for particular reviews from some old game magazines. I'm writing an article about Worms 1995 video game from scratch in the Russian Wikipedia (it is going to replace the existing stub and become featured). I'm able to find most of the reviews online, but some are unavailable, like this one. Maybe I will add more articles from other magazines to my request some time later or will create a new request if this one will be archived by that time, but for now it's just what you see.

Thank you very much for your efforts. Coolak (talk) 20:26, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

P. S. please ping me if you're able to help and/or comment anything because I barely open English Wikipedia. Thank you. Coolak (talk) 20:43, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Coolak, I haven't found a full run of Amiga Action claimed by preservationists. There are a bunch of Amiga and retro mag preservationist circles online that you could ask, but it's going to be hard to find. Alternatively, @Miyagawa, are you still a reader at the British Library? This editor is looking for a scan from issue 78 from this holding. For more holdings, see OCLC 872610756. (not watching, please {{ping}}) czar 06:19, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Czar: Thank you for the suggestion. Indeed, I have seen on abime that it's one of the rare issues, and I have used all of the Google Search advanced techniques that I know of. That's why I created this request as the last resort, so maybe someone with access to British libraries could help. Coolak (talk) 01:31, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Added a page from a weekly UK newspaper to my request. Now it's more than "video game reviews", but I decided to keep the title in case someone has it bookmarked. Coolak (talk) 09:08, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's so refreshing!

Hi guys, I'm resurrecting ye olden text citations. I'm a newbie to Wikipedia Library still.

  • Ricciardi, John. "Still Super After All These Years." Electronic Gaming Monthly 14.9 (2001): 126. Business Source Complete. Web. July 23, 2013.
  • "Fight!." Electronic Gaming Monthly 14.12 (2001): 212. Business Source Complete. Web. July 23, 2013.
  • La Franco, Robert (June 3, 1996). "Take That, Nintendo". Forbes. Vol. 157, no. 11. pp. 96–97. Retrieved August 4, 2020.

I can't find Electronic Gaming Monthly at all or full Forbes (only the abstract) [edit: I found full Forbes] in EBSCO or ProQuest though those citations say they were in Business Source Complete in 2013. That's EBSCO, right? Did they leave EBSCO? Thanks! — Smuckola(talk) 06:37, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuckola: I have access to the third article (from my university ProQuest account). Please Wikimail me and I'll send it to you. —Bruce1eetalk 06:47, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(Edit conflict:) Smuckola, I've sent you #3 from EBSCO. I can likewise not find the Electronic Gaming Monthly in EBSCO. I don't know if it's vanished from all bundles but I also noticed some discrepancy to our local library catalogue (which states that our EBSCO subscription extends to Electronic Gaming Monthly, issues 2000-12-01 - 2009-01-01), so that may indicate that indeed something changed on EBSCO's part. — Pajz (talk) 06:55, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bruce1ee: thanks anyway, I got #3 from Pajz. @Pajz: Oh my goodness, are you telling me that there are different entire sets of publications in each bundle in different institutions' subscriptions to EBSCO? They bounce publications around between collections like Netflix versus HBO versus Starz, or Hulu versus Hulu Plus versus Live TV? That stinks. So does WP:LIBRARY have no EGM and only abstracts of Forbes? [edit: I found full Forbes] Or is it possible that they're duplicated in other collections within the multiverse of Wikipedia Library? I mean I don't even know how to search where to search within WP:LIBRARY. If not, this just makes us cite the third party master search engines like Internet Archive or fansites of magazine scans. Oh well, they can't take those away. I just care that I can make a permanent and free-of-charge accessible citation. Thank you so much for #3 at least, because I do need to read these myself for expanding the Wikipedia articles! — Smuckola(talk) 10:53, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Smuckola, don't know, or perhaps I misunderstand what you're saying. It's certainly true is that EBSCO offers different products with different publications and that, as a result of that, different institutions have access to different materials. I do not think, however, that if two institutions subscribe to EBSCO Business Source Complete they have access to different sets of publications. The institutions I am affiliated with do subscribe to EBSCO Business Source Complete, EBSCO Academic Search Complete, and a few other bundles, and I noticed in one of the local library catalogues that it says we have access to Electronic Gaming Monthly via EBSCO, while in fact, it doesn't look like we do. Given that these local catalogue entries are typically imported from the likes of EBSCO when the database is integrated into the local catalogue, and that the subsequent updating often isn't that reliable, my guess was simply that the journal used to be available in EBSCO but no longer is. That does happen sometimes. I take it from Umimmak's comment that they've run into a similar issue. — Pajz (talk) 17:15, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuckola: in theory I have online access to the first two, but I'm having issues with the database so I've emailed my librarian and hopefully I can get a response. At the very least once COVID is over I'll have access to the print volumes. (P.S. You might want to consider striking out the third request if you've received a copy already just to make things clearer to other editors.) Umimmak (talk) 14:40, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Umimmak: Guess what. In fact, Nikki of the WP:LIBRARY sent me this URL to the full article of #3 and it is the same content as what Pajz had sent me. Can I shorten that URL? Are you guys thinking that WP:LIBRARY has no EGM whatsoever? Thanks! — Smuckola(talk) 01:41, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuckola: hey just wanted to give an update and that I still am working on the Electronic Gaming Monthly but it's taking me longer than expected to fulfill those requests. Umimmak (talk) 20:55, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like this is gonna be even more delayed, my library has had a lot of services pushed back recently. Might have to wait until things open up more, apologies for any false hope. Umimmak (talk) 19:57, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Few sources on Bangladeshi politics

  • Ahmed, Burhan Uddin (2010). Parliament elections report 1937-2008. Country First Foundation. ISBN 9789843313065. OCLC 607341998.

For Bangladeshi nationalism and potentially other articles. First source is available at Princeton University library and second one, at University of Michigan.

Thanks, Zayeem (talk) 18:47, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have access to either volume, but since it's stated above that We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for, I've managed to piece together the table of contents for Osmany 1992 via strategically using Google Books' snippet view
  • Preface [vii–viii]
  • Introduction [1–10]
  • I. Muslim consciousness & political awakening in Bangladesh [11–40]
  • II. Bangladeshi nationalism: The process of interaction between secular and Islamic elements up to 1947 [41–74]
  • III. Bangladeshi nationalism and the emerging middle class [75–108]
  • IV. Secularism and Islam as political forces in Bangladesh [109–155]
  • Epilogue [156–159]
  • Bibliography [160–168]
Hopefully this helps! Umimmak (talk) 20:01, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did see the guideline but wanted to see the table of content first, thanks by the way. For the first source, pages 40-60, and for second source, Introduction, Chapters II and III would suffice I think. I hope it's within limit. Thanks. --Zayeem (talk) 15:20, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kmzayeem: Email me for much of Kabir (#3). I can only offer pages 192-211, and they're from the second edition (2010), but that may be the closest anyone will be able to come until more university libraries reopen. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:34, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A 1925 Portuguese booklet

This item:

It's a small cardboard-cover booklet from 1925 of 14 pages total. Could someone please scan all 14 pages and send it me? This is for articles Petrus Serrarius, John Dury, Abraham Pereyra, and Spinoza. Thank you, warshy (¥¥) 00:27, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Warshy: I won’t be able to help you with this for probably a few months due to COVID-related closures, so hopefully another editor can help you before then, but in theory I should eventually have access to this via microfilm if you still need this when things are open again. For other editors’ convenience I also made each of those OCLC numbers their own separate clickable links. Umimmak (talk) 21:09, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Umimmak. I understand. I saw the microfilm option in the item's record in WorldCat. As you say, hopefully someone will have access to it before "things are open again" (whenever that may be...). Thanks again, warshy (¥¥) 21:32, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ear Magazine, April 1990

For Guitar Solos 3.

According to this Google Book snippet, page 53 of Ear, Volume 15 has a piece on Guitar Solos 3 (and Guitar Solos 2). The snippet text reads, "Guitar Solos 2 Caroline Records (out of print), Guitar Solos 3 Rift Records. Traditional guitar playing is most definitely not the focus of these two LPs. Compiled by Fred Frith, whose own album of guitar improvisations began the Guitar series, these ..." I think this is from the April 1990 issue of Ear Magazine (linked above), but I don't know the page number(s). Any help would be appreciated.

#1 and #7 is to be used in Actors of the Comédie-Française. #2 is to check for bibliography on Polish Woman. #3 and #5 is to be used in Actors of the Comédie-Française, La Boudeuse, and The Embarrassing Proposal. #4 and #6 is to be used in La Boudeuse. While getting the most of the request would not be diffucult, I'm aware that Marianne Roland Michel's catalogue raisonné would be a harder case (see OCLC for both the Italian and French editions). Anyway, thanks for responding. From Russia with love, Gleb95 (talk) 15:46, 23 August 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Need access or sight of the preamble to the Clywedog Reservoir Joint Authority Act 1963

For Clywedog reservoir There has been a recent debate about the purpose of this reservoir. Many years ago before retirement I was professionally part of the team revising and maintaining the operating rules for the reservoir, all of which track back to the original Act. A quotation of the Acts preamble has been dismissed by an editor as an "Author;'s POV" . I just need somebody with access to a legal library to look up the act and copy, scan, write out the preamble which sets out the purpose and for which I would be most grateful. In the article Oachira Temple, the topynomy section is unsourced. I searched in google books for "Omkarachira", "Oymanchira", and "Uvachanchira", and they all appear in the Kamli-Kyouk Phyu volume of the Indian Encylopedia. No snippets are available, and it doesn't identify the page number. Possibly the entry for Kayamkulam or Krishnapuram or Kollam? 1980+ sources for a retired golfer

Hello. I'm looking for any sources from 1980+ onwards for my draft on Sharron Moran. Specifically I'm looking for two things: 1) When did she retire from the LPGA? I see sources that state she was a former pro in an 1982 and 1987 source from Newspapers.com, but I've seen sources that state she has played on a LPGA tour event during these years. Maybe she retired in the 1980s then came back? It's also possible she switched professional tours. 2) When did she start teaching golf? Like above, I see sources that suggest she was teaching golf in the 1980s. These two sources also suggest that she's still teaching as of the 2010s. Though I don't want a massive gap in her career if there are sources available during this time range. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 22:52, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Google Books say the publication date is 1970; WorldCat says it's 1971. I'm not sure which is correct. —Bruce1eetalk 17:33, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bakr 1986 Panthera sp. nov.

I would like to find this paper: Bakr, A. (1986). On a collection of Siwalik Carnivora. Biological Society of Pakistan, Monograph No.11, pp.1-64. It can apparently be found at these locations, alas, I am not near any of them. If I can get the paper, I plan on possibly writing an article on this, or at least adding the relevant information to the genus (Panthera) article.

Article in a 2003 issue of TV magazine Radio Times

  • (can't figure out how to do a citation here) - the article seemingly titled "monster magic" on pg. 38 of the 6 November 2003 issue (issue no. 4156) of Radio Times; it seems to be an article about this TV series and since sources are hard to come by, will probably be useful. It exists as per these; 1, 2.

Pages from Singapore's 100 Historical Places to remove copyvios

Hello. I require the entry on Jinricksha Station from the following book to remove copyvio from Jinrikisha Station:

  • Singapore's 100 Historical Places. National Heritage Board. 2002. p. 80. ISBN 9814068233.

I need page 80 for sure per this Google snippet view. As for the spelling, Jinricksha and Jinrikisha were merged together per the article history.

Update: I've just discovered that Boat Quay and Masjid Omar Kampong Melaka are tagged for copyvioes as well with the same source. Therefore, I need the entry for Boat Quay (page 66) and Omar Kampong Malacca Mosque (page 82). If any of these entries happen to be more than one page, I'd appreciate that as well.

Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro: Institut za noviju istoriju Srbije (Institute for the Recent History of Serbia). OCLC 607699124.

For Milan Nedić - the entry for Milan Nedić seems to be somewhere around pages 40-50, but don't quote me. Last time I needed some pages from this book, Pajz was able to get access. Milan had a brother Milutin, who was also a general and is in the book, so just make sure you don't get him instead of Milan.

ISO 4217:2015

I need the text of the section of ISO 4217:2015 (ie the current version of ISO 4217) which describes ISO 4217 "Minor units". Wikipedia quotes ISO 4217:2008 (ie an older version of ISO 4217) at ISO 4217#Minor units of currency. I'm working on that section and need to know whether anything has changed in the text of the standard. Thanks, Misha Wolf (talk) 22:39, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Misha Wolf: I'm not familiar with these ISO standards, but I did find this – I don't know if it will be of any assistance to you. —Bruce1eetalk 23:20, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bruce1ee: Thanks for that, but what I need is (a portion of) the text of the standard itself, as opposed to the standard's data tables, which are freely available. Misha Wolf (talk) 23:55, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting verifying for copyright free ness and uploading images to Wikimedia commons

8.1 to 8.6 numbers in bracket are image numbers of very old images, in the given chapter. My primary understanding at first sight has been these images seem very old and expected to be copyright free.

Page number and image numbers in bracket: 236(8.1), 244(8.2), 252(8.3), 254(8.4), 255(8.5), 259(8.6) For article Superstitions in Muslim societies

This time I do not need document, due to my limitations in technical and copyright understanding I need some one to assist to access, examine and then upload images to Wikimedia commons to use in the article Superstitions in Muslim societies.

(I had made the same request earlier at commons but they did not get access to the document so I am making request to this forum)
