The article Rafael Sotomayor Morales has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. @GiantSnowman: Hi, I think the guidelines for WP:NFOOTBALL are slightly too vague. My reason for saying this is that FIFA does clearly state that the fixtures need to be authorised by itself, but WP:NFOOTBALL also states that the teams do NOT need to be members of FIFA. Do FIFA athorise games in which at least one team is not a FIFA member?
On a similar note, NFT keeps records of non-FIFA games, and for nations such as Tuvalu (a non-FIFA country according to NFT), most of their games would presumably be non-FIFA games. One example of a player, who was actually nominated for deletion (with an ultimate decision to keep), is Vaisua Liva. Liva has played 5 non-FIFA games for Tuvalu (as of NFT), yet he has only played in non-FIFA games, for a non-FIFA recognised country. Having looked at the deletion log, you actually voted to keep this article, so I would just like to know what the difference is between Liva, Sotomayor and Chipunza? Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 13:54, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have just looked through the deletion article again, and seen that the Pacific Games are part of qualification for the FIFA World Cup, so I presume these games would therefore be FIFA authorised, and NFT has actually made a mistake by saying these were non-FIFA games? Therefore, would players from the Federated States of Micronesia national under-23 football team be eligible for articles as they have represented their country at FIFA authorised games by competing at the 2015 Pacific Games? Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 13:59, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As for the Falkland Islands, a Tier 1 game is, per the FIFA Regulations, between "members" (clause 7(1))- The Falkland Islands is not a member and therefore cannot by definition play in a Tier 1 match.
As for NFT, it's not 100% accurate tbh, although it's a decent source nonetheless. GiantSnowman 14:06, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As for Liva, he played at a competition which featured at least one Tier 1 game, and was therefore considered a Tier 1 competiton (see the Regulations, clause 7(3)). That's why he was kept, but in any event WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. GiantSnowman 14:06, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Ah but Tuvalu aren't a member of FIFA either, and I have had a look and found that FIFA actually said that the Pacific Games would NOT be part of any qualification for the World Cup! (source here at the Wayback Machine (archived 1 July 2016)). So NFT were right to say they were non-FIFA games, and I presume that puts players from Tuvalu and the Falklands on the same level when it comes to international appearances with regards to notability? Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 14:10, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If that's the case then yes - and Liva should be re-nominated and deleted as non-notable per NFOOTBALL. GiantSnowman 14:12, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, glad that cleared things up then. That would make all Tuvalu players non-notable then I presume? Unless they were playing in a fully professional league of course. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 14:14, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Probably worth making the point that GS seems to have forgotten the recent change to NFOOTY, namely that players who have played for national teams in competitions organised by or sanctioned by continental confederations are now considered notable. This is to level the playing field for sovereign nations that are not members of Fifa. As such, Tuvaluan players who have played in the Pacific games meet NFOOTY, as it is an OFC competition. On the other hand the Falkland islands are neither a nation nor have competed in a competition organised or sanctioned by UEFA so players would not be notable per NFOOTY. Though they could still pass GNG with enough coverage in Falkland islands media. Fenix down (talk) 16:32, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thank you both for clearing this up! Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 16:34, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Kalvin Lumbombo Kalala

Any reason why you have removed references and categories and messed ups the infobox? Your editing is becoming increasingly concerning... GiantSnowman 11:58, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: Not sure what you're getting at here. I didn't add the Italian link saying he had moved to Carpi because it's an amateur source. One look at the website referenced will show you the shoddy quality. Is this really a reliable source? Also confused as to why you constantly remove career statistics, when pages such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both have them. The ones I add are always sourced with Soccerway, ZeroZero or an external statistics page such as the USL or PDL portals.
Your comment on me removing categories is absolutely ridiculous. My page creations often have 'Club career' as opposed to 'Career'. Big whoop. Huge difference there. And 'messing up the infobox' is simply an untrue statement. The differences between our two infobox edits are minuscule. The only major changes I can see are the removal of blank international stats (fair enough), slight formatting differences (my version is cleaner) and your claim that this player is a forward. Please provide a source stating he is a forward. Soccerway has him listed as a midfielder, as does the crappy Italian source you had on there. Is this not vandalism?
On a side note, might be worth noting that as a non-admin, I have limited views of page history and administration. For example, Daniel Iversen is listed to have been created by yourself on 26 July 2018, yet when I went to create the page, there was nothing to indicate that this was the case. As with Reece James. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 12:14, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've added back the career stats table (properly formatted and referenced); the infobox was not formatted in-line with {{Infobox football biography}}; you removed the a number of valid categories (A.S.D. Jolly Montemurlo players; French expatriates in Italy; Expatriate footballers in Italy; Category:French expatriates in England; Category:Expatriate footballers in England); you removed the valid stub tag. GiantSnowman 12:30, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Properly formatted and referenced? Sorry but there is nearly NO difference between the two. You're being incredibly anal here. I think Serie D - E makes more sense than just Serie D, too. It's the same thing as the National League having a 'North' and 'South' section, as the 'E' makes it clear that he competed in the Serie D group E. You replaced my <ref group="lower-alpha"> with an efn link, when they do the exact same thing. Apologies about the categories, but as I stated above: when I created the page, it was a blank template. I didn't remove anything, I just created my own version of the page that was minimally different from your own.
The comment about the infobox not being formatted correctly is utter rubbish too. So what if I put the 'years1', 'clubs1', 'caps1' and 'goals1' on the same line? This is the case with most football articles on Wikipedia. Again using Lionel Messi as an example. I don't see you jumping in to "correct" that page. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 12:42, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
'Serie D - E' is ambiguous, hence why it was removed. Feel free to put 'Serie D Group E' or something if you want, but I've never seen that before. Regarding the infobox WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, as you should be well aware. GiantSnowman 12:47, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Please clarify what I am missing with regards to WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 12:51, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just because other articles do certain (incorrect) things does not mean that you can do the same on this one. GiantSnowman 12:57, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: If we're going to be this anal about these things, then shouldn't all football player articles have every single line from {{Infobox football biography}}? Including things such as embed, image_size, alt and all of the college lines, even if they're blank? In the case of Kalala, you left in the image, image_size, caption, etc lines, even though they are blank. What makes these more important than other things that you have removed? Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 13:12, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh...because we want an image on every article; we do not need college parameters for players who did not play college. GiantSnowman 13:23, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Well I think we want players to represent their countries at international level and win the leagues/tournaments they are involved in, but you always remove the national statistics and 'medaltemplates' lines because they have not yet played at international level or won anything. Surely the international stuff should only be removed when a player retires as there is always a chance that they will be called up? It sounds to me like your own editing style. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 13:28, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You're being ridiculous now - ask at WT:FOOTY if you don't believe me. It's standard to only put in college/national parameters if/when they actually play - but we always keep in empty image parameters. GiantSnowman 13:31, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ismael Dunga moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Ismael Dunga, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello there, I noticed that you moved this article back to mainspace. But you left an edit summary that "Soccerway" is a reliable source. However, over the years at various discussions at WP:Football and WP:RS, Soccerway has been deemed unreliable. Since, you added one more source to the article so I am not going to contest your move but I would like you to inform that only sourcing through Soccerway is not going to make the article suitable for mainspace. Hugman's Footballers website

Hello. I came across your creation Gary Marshall (footballer) and noticed that you'd misinterpreted the way the Hugman's Footballers site sets out the player's stats (which is a bit misleading). The figures headed Apps are actually starting appearances, so you need to add "Apps" and Subs together to get total appearances. So looking at Mr Marshall's stats, he should have 159+38 league appearances in all, not 159. I've fixed the figures on Gary Marshall (footballer), but if you've used the site to source other pages, you may want to go back and check them. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 22:59, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're really doing great by creating numerous of new articles and i wanted to thankyou for your contribution to wikipedia but i think it's ok while writing title name Lucas Silva (footballer) instead of adding birthdate in title. AD Talk 19:50, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Robinson (footballer)

An awdul lot of unsourced information in this article - where have you got the NI int'l stats from? What about Ridgeway Rovers? GiantSnowman 16:31, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: Added sources. Please do not add ugly references to pages. Just putting ref-link-ref is sloppy and ugly. You of all people should be doing better. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 17:28, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's nothing wrong with adding bare URLs, thopugh it's not ideal. I was in a rush trying to clean up that mess of an article. Don't try and lecture me, given all your issues here. GiantSnowman 17:34, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Thank you for helping to clean up my disgusting mess of an article. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 17:35, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No need to be sarky, I'm trying to help you. GiantSnowman 17:37, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Regarding dates, Robinson signed for Oldham in 2017 (ambiguous because in the article it says something about him joining next season, article written in April so probably 2017). He was still most likely playing youth football for Glenavon and was surely playing youth football for Oldham, which is why I added both into the ‘youthyears’ section. Any reason why they should be omitted from this? He was still playing youth football even after playing senior football. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 18:45, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Because it gets far too complex. The infobox is a brief summary of a career. GiantSnowman 09:06, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Rubbish, why bother having the youthyears thing there then? If, for example, Robinson joined Oldham in 2017, but only played youth games from 2017 until 2019, he has represented Oldham at youth level and therefore this information should be reflected under youthyears. His professional, senior career with Oldham should start in 2019. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 21:15, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What about John Smith, a backup goalkeeper for a club. He has never played a first team game but is always on the bench. Is he 'senior' or 'youth'? GiantSnowman 08:35, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: By WP:FOOTY, he wouldn’t be eligible for a page ;) but I see your point. I think it’s difficult, because say a player signs for a premier league club at 16 in 2013 and has one appearance on the bench the next day, but then spends the next 5 years playing youth football, would you say his senior career spans 2013-2018? Or would you say that was his youth career?
I think a good compromise is to add it into both, because it covers both bases. Say John Smith signs in 2013, plays youth football until 2014 and makes his senior debut in 2015, you couldn’t just leave a gap from 2014-2015. So you could put in the youth category that he played from 2013-2014 and the senior category 2013-2015. I think it is all very age-dependant though. (Both examples assume that the player leaves immediately after making their first appearance, otherwise, of course, it would be 2013- on both). Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 09:29, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fabio Zúñiga

Why have you created one as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC? GiantSnowman 16:34, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: Presumed that's how things were done, created the page for Fabio Zúñiga, then realised there was another Fabio Zúñiga who had also played professionally, so created a new page with Fabio Zúñiga (footballer, born 1979) because you told me not to merge (i.e. create a disambiguation page at Fabio Zúñiga) and I do not have the administration rights to do much on here. Would you oh so kindly create a disambiguation page at Fabio Zúñiga and have a new page, Fabio Zúñiga (footballer, born 1981) created, please? @Xaiver0510: The Soccerway link, as well as others, did state this player was born in 2004. However this has now been rectified(?) on Soccerway. Unsure how this came about but looking at Vicente Fernández Godoy, it seems someone at Soccerway made an error. I will not be disputing any deletion, but I would suggest using Vicente Fernández (footballer) as a redirect page to Vicente Fernández Godoy. Hi, I imagine this edit is probably correct, but do you have a better source than ZeroZero? The site is not considered a reliable source (one of the many discussions is at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2019 February 13#Template:TheFinalBall). Thanks, Nzd (talk) 03:06, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Nzd: I know it’s not the most reliable source, but it’s the easiest way to see the lower divisions of Brazilian state league football. There is probably a source out there that has the statistics for the Campeonato Paranaense A3, but it would take forever to find. Also, ZeroZero tends to be as reliable a source as Soccerway in my experience, especially for Brazilian football. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 08:32, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Abdullah Qazi moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Abdullah Qazi, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. Your draft article, Draft:Yumi Yano

Hello, Davidlofgren1996. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Yumi Yano".

David Wang (footballer)

"Your" version as you state it (WP:OWN much?) has more sources but the infobox is awful. The youth career cannot extend beyond the senior career, and it does not comply with standard formatting. GiantSnowman 14:45, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: "My" infobox was more detailed. Wang joined Jumilla in 2016, and was loaned to Murcia FROM Jumilla (as sourced). His loan to Josep María Gené was also a youth loan (also sourced), and he was then loaned to Estudiantes (as of Soccerway). Yes, he did join Wolves in 2019, having already spent time in senior football, but his loan to Sporting was to their B team at least. Also, he joined Wolves Jan 1, meaning he was from Jumilla from 2016 until 2018. I have amended the infobox accordingly. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 14:54, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, his name is quite literally Wang Jiahao. This is noted in most of the sources and to expunge it from the page is silly in my opinion. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 14:56, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Include it as his Chinese name, not his main name. This is the English language Wikipedia, and in Englsh language sources he is known as David Wang, and described as Spanish. The latter does not change until he represents China. GiantSnowman 14:59, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Not trying to push it, but I didn't like this source that you included either. It states that he made 24 appearances, scoring 3 goals for Jumilla B, even though numerous sources state these as his stats at Josep María Gené. Even BBC say that he only made 16 appearances for Jumilla B. The source even seems quite subjective, rather slating Wang and agent Jorge Mendes, rather than giving objective facts. Please check your sources. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 15:05, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Serbian First League (2nd division) is professional, as of Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues. As it was only one sub appearance, the nomination is fair. However, the player is only 20, so perhaps we should wait until the end of the 2020 China Super League to see if he makes another professional appearance. If not, feel free to nominate. Or nominate now and take it to a debate. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 11:59, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@HawkAussie: I’m editing on mobile, thought the reply would be automatically included. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 12:00, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidlofgren1996: The main reason why I put that up is the fact that he isn't in the Hebei China Fortune F.C. squad for the 2020 season (if it even happens) and like you said, he only made the single appearance so the nominaton was fair. HawkAussie (talk) 23:34, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Arsène Zola

Please can you confirm how this player is notable? I've had a draft in my user space since July 2019 waiting for him to make his professional/international debut... GiantSnowman 18:05, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: As of Soccerway, Zola has played in the CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup. These, especially the Super Cup, are composed of the best clubs in Africa, so I would argue that anyone who appears in either would be noteworthy in their own country. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 18:34, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you are trying WP:NFOOTBALL, has he played in a competitive match between two teams from leagues listed at WP:FPL? GiantSnowman 18:45, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Actually, the source claiming that football in the DR Congo is not professional, clearly states "Le "triste état" du football professionnel en République démocratique du Congo". So, from this, the DR Congo has a level of professional football, which is presumably the Linafoot. And even if not all of these teams in this league are professional, I think it's safe to assume that TP Mazembe, who have one the competition ten out of the last fourteen times, would definitely be a professional team. If you could provide a source that contradicts the one I have provided, and states that the Linafoot is not a professional league, please go ahead. Otherwise, I think a proposed deletion would be most logical, if you are prepared for that hassle. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 19:08, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, the WP:BURDEN is n you to prove notability. Is the Linafoot listed at WP:FPL? Has he played for any other team from a league listed at WP:FPL? GiantSnowman 19:11, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: I have provided a source that offers clarification on the Linafoot. I have suggested it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues and we will wait on the result. I have checked through the archive of the talk page and there are no mentions of the DR Congo, so this issue has obviously not been brought up before. But as far as I'm concerned, that source proves that the Linafoot is professional, and it is actually a more recent source than most of the ones provided for other leagues, most of which are archived.Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 19:58, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sonny Pike

Per BRD I have revered your changes - I suggest you discuss each element on the article talk page to gain consensus. Some of your changes are questionable, and sources are at times contradictory/confusing. We need to set out a proper chronology and whether he was at trial/signed for clubs... GiantSnowman 09:57, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: I don't even know why I bother any more. You've got contradictory sources on this article and this Guardian source gives numerous false statements. He's not confirmed to be the nephew of Mark Falco, he didn't study psychology at Dundee University, he wasn't in Ajax's academy in 2000 and there's no evidence linking him to Ajax besides the two-week trial he had in 1995. Where is the proof that he was invited to join Ajax at the age of 7?
The WSC article you posted had been archived, which no one had bothered to fix. Here is a link to the archived article. This is not particularly a reliable source anyway, especially with more recent sources (Goal, second Guardian source). It also mentioned him playing for London Colney, which was never added to the infobox, if it's even true! The Guardian interview suggests that "He had supposedly been spotted under assumed identities at a number of non-league clubs". Is this sentence referring specifically to this article? His supposed spells with Barnet, Enfield (as a senior), Waltham Forest and Dryburgh Saints are unsourced.
I am not going to leave a question on the talk page, as this is an absolutely pointless thing to do. As we can see, there is already a post there from 2007, which has yet to have any responses. I have been editing on Wikipedia long enough to be able to edit articles, and my changes to the article should be respected as they were sourced. I did the research to find which clubs he was trialing at and which he signed for, and while it's not 100% accurate, it's a lot better than the mess that it currently is. He was NEVER signed by Ajax. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 10:16, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, guess you missed me saying "sources are at times contradictory/confusing. We need to set out a proper chronology and whether he was at trial/signed for clubs" huh? GiantSnowman 10:19, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as you added that part afterwards, yes, yes I did. Of courses sources can be contradictory, but I'd take actual interviews with Pike himself (Goal, Guardian) over articles in a "football magazine". I have set out a proper chronology as accurate as I could from the sources provided, as well as which clubs he was trialing at and which he signed for. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 10:21, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The first Guardian piece you criticised is also an interview... GiantSnowman 10:23, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Are you seriously using THIS as a reputable source??? Because that's where the Guardian got their source from. Anyway, it's quoting him, not an interview at all! Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 10:26, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I do not doubt that there are issues. That is why I have tagged the article as disputed. We do that then discuss on the article talk page. Please stop edit warring. I will also seek input from WP:FOOTBALL. This needs more eyes. GiantSnowman 10:39, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if you have a problem specifically with me, or just an ego issue. My edits to the page were all constructive, and I even took the time to add your slight alterations to the page each time I reverted your, frankly harmful, edits. I'm very confused as to why you won't accept my edits as beneficial, especially when they are sourced, yet you allowed someone to add all the incorrect information to the article, unchallenged. It always seems to be one rule for some, one rule for others with you.
I don't see the issue with my edits. I have read WP:BRD and from what I've gathered, it is a guideline for reaching consensus. My edits were beneficial, so there was absolutely no need to revert them. Hello, Davidlofgren1996. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Diguinho".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 04:03, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He's Not on Wikipedia But Leicester's Luke Thomas Could Be a Ready Made Ben Chilwell Replacement Him and Donna Strickland, I suppose. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:57, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: Ha. I guess that, as of 17:00 on the 16th July, they were correct - he didn't yet have a Wikipedia page. But they describe how well he played during the article, so surely it would've only taken a few clicks after the game (or even after his assist) to find his page! Shoddy journalism. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 14:58, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Sociedade Esportiva Decisão Futebol Clube players requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Why did you move User:Davidlofgren1996/Jon Russell to User:Jon Russell (footballer) and then tag it for WP:G13? Did you mean to move it to mainspace? If so, why the CSD tag? Jackmcbarn (talk) 17:06, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Jackmcbarn: Hi, yes, sorry. I was trying to move it to mainspace, as I've seen other users do, as I thought it would then delete the user page I had created. This did not work, and when I realised my mistake, I figured there was no point in keeping User:Jon Russell (footballer) up as a page, so I requested speedy deletion as I don't know how to delete any other way. Chelsea striker Bethany England scoring the winning goal in the team's 2-1 win against Arsenal at the 2019–20 FA Women's League Cup, February 29, 2020.

Hello WOSO editors!

What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?

Historical Topics
Managers
Teams
Players
Other

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/FA WSL to collaborate and organize with other editors.

Every little bit helps! Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

Davidlofgren1996 Thanks for the rules on the notability and under Fails WP:NFOOTY and WP:GNG. Sure would work to improve the article if that isnt completed by 12 January as the date indicated hopefully the page would be moved into a draft page then worked on effectively and submitted thanks. Cheers! ----------Ampimd (talk)12:53, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ampimd: I think the page is fine, and can't really be improved, it's just that the player has yet to make his professional debut yet, and does not meet notability guidelines. Give it a year or so and he probably will - just not yet. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 12:57, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Davidlofgren1996 Ohk that makes sense, So I believe the page could be moved into a draft page rather or what are your suggestions delete it and rather recreate a new one when he makes his professional debut? I would want to go with the draft till then any suggestions? ----------Ampimd (talk)1:12, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
@Ampimd: I think you could create a page at Draft:Eric Ayiah, and then just monitor the page until either he makes his debut or has numerous independent articles written about him - most likely the former. I would check with an admin first though, as I'm not too knowledgeable in terms of processes, etc. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 13:18, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Onodi

Hi, I have made a mistake by creating Ákos Ónodi without seeing that you have already created Ákos Onódi. I am still not sure about the spelling cuz it is different in several sources. Can you just merge them or something? Thanks! Kokoeist (talk) 19:54, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Kokoeist: No worries, I just went with what was on Soccerway as I find that to be the most reliable source. Annoyingly, Villa have his official name as Akos Onodi, but his Twitter is in line with Soccerway, so that's why I went with that. I've redirected the page now. Thanks! Mexican coaches

Hello Davidlofgren, first of all I want to congratulate you for your great contributions in wikipedia, I noticed that you are very active in articles related to women in soccer, so I would ask your help in creating the articles of the Mexican coaches that I consider deserve an article, these coaches are former soccer players and now have positions as coaches in Liga MX Femenil and the national team: Ana Cristina González, Ana Laura Galindo and Scarlett Anaya. I leave it at your consideration, I would really appreciate your help. Thank you and greetings! 189.139.58.202 (talk) 22:30, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article issues

Hi. With the articles you have created, there are some issues which I would like to bring to your attention:

  • Career statistics table format - Taking Shun Hirayama as an example, the table does not need a 'Club' subheading as he has not played international football, and it should contain 'Appearances and goals by club, season and competition' as a table caption.
  • Unsourced info - I've warned you about this before but I will stress this again. Per WP:V, all material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable. This is not the case with Tarik (footballer, born 2002), where Soccerway does not give a date of birth or height, or Ilija Babić where Soccerway fails to give a height or place of birth and does not reference the youth career. This conduct disturbs me, and I will seek further action if you continue to create articles that lack sources to verify the information.

Many thanks, Microwave Anarchist (talk) 11:47, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Microwave Anarchist: Hi. I understand your view on the first point you made, but to me, it's just a way of keeping all of the articles I create in-line and uniform. I know that Hirayama has not played international football, but I personally feel it just looks nicer to have that little subheading. If this is not in-line with WP:FOOTY, then sure, I'll stop doing it.

With the second point, a lot of the information is simply sourced from Google. If you type his full name (Tarik Lucas Oliveira Novais), Google has that little box on the right hand corner that even includes his height (as well as date of birth). I presume they have sourced this from the UAE Pro League site, which also gives this information here. In future, I'll try to include as many sources with, but for trivial things such as height and DOB - when the information is so readily and easily available - I thought it wouldn't matter as much.

Cheers, Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 11:55, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidlofgren1996: - Yes, if you can add a source for that information, that would be great. I never know where the information in the little box comes from, but I often suspect it is Transfermarkt, which is obviously not a reliable source. The career stats thing is slightly trivial, and if you prefer the subheading that doesn't bother me too much. The table caption is a minor thing also, but is required by MOS:TABLECAPTION as it is an accessibility issue. Microwave Anarchist (talk) 12:15, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Davidlofgren1996, I noticed that you are an active contributor of football articles, therefore may I ask your help in order to create the articles of the coaches/managers of the Liga MX Femenil and the Serie A de México, I consider the creation of these pages very relevant, taking in consideration that most of them are former footballers.

Such as Rigoberto Esparza, Jorge Campos Valadéz, Leonardo Álvarez, Miguel Ángel Casanova, Daniel Moguel Hernández and Juan Manuel Rivera

I've seen a lot of these types at User:Davidlofgren1996/Brazilian players, and although I can see that you don't do pages with much info (pretty much a copy-paste from Soccerway), I would recommend you to gather some coverage on those "shady" Brazilian guys.

Creating drafts

That's two articles you've recently created that I already had long-established drafts for. In the future it would be prudent to search in both user and draft space before creating any articles. GiantSnowman 16:20, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: come on, you can’t expect me to check every single user in the community’s user spaces just to find drafts. You can see on my profile that I’ve been watching any player included in the Guardian’s Next Gen series, and Robertson and Morrison are both on the 2020 list. I can’t create my own drafts as you do, as I don’t have admin rights. I didn’t get any message pop up for either saying “a draft for this page exists at ____”. I feel this message is a little unfair. Also, what do you want me to do if I do find articles I wish to create in your draft space? Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 16:36, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You can create drafts, you don't need admin rights to that! And you don't need to search individual users, you can search in the whole of draft/user space very easily. GiantSnowman 05:31, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Josh Williams

Hello, and thanks for creating the articles for Josh Williams and Jobe Bellingham. I've expanded Williams a bit, and will do the same to Jobe later. Just thought I should let you know that I'm going to move Williams to Josh Williams (English footballer). The relevant naming convention says quite forcefully that we shouldn't use soccer and footballer to differentiate between US-speaking and Brit-speaking nationalities, and as Josh Williams (soccer) already exists, it looks like this Josh Williams would do better disambiguated by nationality. Hope this is OK with you, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:52, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Chin moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Richard Chin, is not suitable as written to remain published. Engr. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Richard Chin. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:48, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Davidlofgren1996,
If you disagree with a page being moved from main space to Draft space, please move it back, do not cut & paste a new version in a page in main space. This loses the page history which is important for attribution. It also results in having two versions of the same article which is not desirable. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 02:50, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shunta Araki requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shunta Araki. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. As he is only 22, and in his first year of senior football, he is sure to have a long career in professional football. If you want, you can take to AfD, but I'm certain it will be a keep outcome.
