Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 66.177.73.86 (talk) at 22:44, 29 May 2010 (→‎{{la|Lemon Angel}}). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Jane Fonda (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection vandalism, This article has been the target of multiple incidents of addition of content by IPs that violates WP:BLP in that additions of content alleging she is a traitor or accusing her of causing deaths like this. These are extremely serious violations and the page needs to be semi-protected to protect both Fonda and Wikipedia from such additions. Wildhartlivie (talk) 22:43, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Lemon Angel (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, IP continues trying to create an "article" at this redirect against consenus and its already being covered at Lemon Angel Project which is what the reliable sources say it is part of. The content the IP is adding conflicts with actual sources. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:18, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have added external links to the article. It is now an article about the band, which is a notable J-Pop band.--66.177.73.86 (talk) 22:33, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So now it is supposedly about some band? Stop with the edit warring, stop with the incorrect statements. This IP is already reported for blocking, but meanwhile has now reverted multiple editors with his various claims on what this supposedly is. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:35, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yet again, you prove to me that:

    a) You have not even read the info

    b) You have no idea what the page is about, yet you pretend to.--66.177.73.86 (talk) 22:36, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing to read - first you claim its an anime then you throw a sentence at the top claiming now its about a band. You are the one who keeps changing your statements, edit warring with no less than five editors, making personal attacks, etc. You are the one who obviously has no idea what he is talking about. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:42, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's about a band that has their own anime. How simple do I have to make it?--66.177.73.86 (talk) 22:44, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Trina (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection - vandalism, multiple IPs adding unsourced material and IP users editing unnecessary things. I had to revert the entire page back to what is was a week ago. The edits have been continuous and disruptive. Please have the page semi-protected due to the recent activity that hasn't stopped. Thank you.Mcelite (talk) 22:05, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jaume Marquet Cot (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protection vandalism, vandalized every few seconds by multiple I.P.'s and one user. Christian75 (talk) 20:51, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note: There has obviously been significant vandalism but the last few IP edits seem constructive. I'll keep an eye on it HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:04, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thunder and Lightning (album) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection Persistent and long-term misrepresentation of a source by a floating IP. Blocks don't work, and the previous temporary semi-protection expired a few hours ago. Right now the article is experiencing around one vandal edit per minute. Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:47, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked. by CIreland (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA), let's see how that goes. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:02, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It didn't last long, unsurprisingly. New IP started already. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:33, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Sirasa TV (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    King's_School,_Rochester (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protection I've noticed lots of humorous edits on this article over the past 6 months, primarily from IPs. Recently there has been quite a lot of these, and they're fairly substantial edits, and they ruin the article. James Richardson (talk) 18:26, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) re-blocked with talk page editing disallowed. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 16:51, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 FIFA World Cup broadcasting rights (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, IP users continuously add unsourced information to this article, including one whose changes are outright vandalism (for example, claiming the World Cup will be shown simultaneously on every terrestrial channel in Australia) but unfortunately cannot be dealt with because they appear to have a dynamic IP address. There are many constructive contributions from IP users but unfortunately verifying and/or reverting the amount of unconstructive contributions is beginning to become a burden. . Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.==Current requests for edits to a protected page==

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
