Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Pnkermiz (talk | contribs) at 16:53, 29 December 2010 (Barcade: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Note: This page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions nor to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as CSD G6), or in articles for deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other XfD processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Kodiak Island UFO sighting

This incident received international attention and has been sourced numerous times by ufology fan sites, as well as Alaskan media outlets. However, the other enthusiasts and myself found ourselves in somewhat of an edit war with Beeblebrox, due to him gratuitously removing sources, in order to guarantee the page's secured deletion. Once he removed enough information and he himself became an administrator, (after failed attempts at nominating it for deletion), he ignored any consensus of the editors whatsoever and simply deleted the article. I have been busy this last year and only recently did I fully realize what had been done. I am aware of my inefficiency to appropriately edit articles while in high school, but the three years since I created the page, I feel as though the page could grow and become an apt article. Therefore, I strong endorse the revitalization of the page and the opportunity to establish its notability on Wikipedia. It was an internationally-aware incident, so it has merit. This article was discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kodiak Island UFO sighting, closed by Tone. Please use the Wikipedia:Deletion review venue. FNB Private Clients

The page gives information about the advantages of a Private Bank, it explains the services one might use when joining a Private Bank, what changes should I make to the article to avoid the deletion of this article, we would really like a wiki page!! -Lesibas (talk) 07:35, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

SKLZ

I would like to see more closely how it was written in a biased viewpoint. SKLZ is a very reputable brand known globally and having annual sales of over 40 million. The company is the only of its kind to have full lines of skill development training aids across several mainstream sports all supported by quality content and soon to be training programs co-developed with Athletes Performance. Would there be any way that this article could be rewritten to support sports training and skill development which is the company's primary focus? -Nicole.Roberts828 (talk) 16:37, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not done There was not a syllable in that "article" that was not calculated to sell that company and its products. We are not a venue for advertisements. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:10, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What specifically made it an advertisement? Was it the voice, links, etc. that made it promotional? Any input would be helpful. Thank you.Nicole.Roberts828

A quick google search indicates that you are employed by SKLZ to do marketing. That is not the only thing that makes it promotional, but it is one of them. If this company is genuinely notable, it is inevitable that people will read about it in independent sources, and write about it from a neutral point of view. If you are interested in making Wikipedia better, you can still do that by choosing one of the many articles on the encyclopedia in which you do not have a conflict of interest, and working to make it better. There are many things you can do for the encyclopedia that would not conflict with your work at all. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 18:41, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Golly... where to begin? "is the innovator", "premier developer and marketer", "products for serious athletes", "focuses on transforming innovative concepts into effective sports training products that help athletes reach their full potential", "delivers durable, high-performance trainers", "major sporting goods retailers... as well as on the SKLZ web site", "Mission, Vision, Values", "Fast Forward Your Dreams", "Innovator in Athletic Training", "Sportsmanship, Innovation, Fun, Passionate, Entrepreneurial and Results Driven"... like I said, solid spam and advertiser-speak. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:25, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mir Asedullah Quadri

The article was deleted due to misunderstanding -Sparrow78677 (talk) 00:00, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Administrator,

This is regarding the article of "Shaikh Mir Asedullah Shah Quadri" which is due to be deleted in seven days. I have gone thoroughly through the article and I think this deletion is nothing but a simple mis-understanding. Shaikh Mir Asedullah Shah Quadri is a world renowned scholar of Islam his innumerable achievements are all over the internet. The editor who has put the article for deletion says that there are no third party references and asks for newspaper articles on the Shaikh. But the thing is that the work Shaikh Quadri has done is thoroughly based on the Internet. He has thousands of followers on the internet, you can just Google him if you want to know. But still agreeing with the editor, the original writer of the article sent him 39 third party references which includes personnel letters written to the Shaikh himself by many world renown scholars belonging to different school of thoughts and plenty of references from different reputed organizations have also been posted quoting Shaikh's references from their official websites. I request you to go through the whole discussion page of the article and check each and every reference posted thoroughly so that you can decide for yourself. Personally I think the editor is being too rash here. I mean he is not properly checking our references and is deleting our article in 15 minutes of our posting. Now he has put the article on deletion and it will be deleted within 7 days. Therefore, I request you to go through the article as soon as possible before it is too late. If you think there is any problem with it, then I would be glad to help but please at least remove the seven day timer from it. If you have any questions or queries, please ask. This is my personnel email 'jack78677@gmail.com'. The purpose behind this 'Request for undeletion' is not to complain about the editor but to clear a simple mis understanding. The debate on the article has been going on for quite a while now. I hope you are the one that will end it.

Thank You

The article has not been deleted, but is being discussed at WP:Articles for deletion/Mir Asedullah Quadri, and that is where you should comment. Even if it is deleted, this page would not be the place to challenge that decision: that would have to be done at WP:Deletion review. JohnCD (talk) 14:02, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not done This was listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2010 October 7#File:Red Ford F-Series Brush Truck - Chaires-Capitola VFD.jpg. Ditto with the WP:OTRS for this as well. Skier Dude (talk 08:07, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But they were incorrectly tagged as unfree. If you had looked as the uploader's screen name(User:CCVFDWebmaster) it was obvious that this person was a member of that department, and in fact had his screen name deleted because of it. For the record, during one of those deletion debates(File:Chaires-Capitola VFD - Air, Power & Light Trailer.jpg), I actually made a phone call to the chief and explained the situation. Later on that day I had a return call from him, and he said he knew who wrote it, and said he'd tell the person who did it to show proof of permission. When I mentioned this confirmation on the FfD board for that file, it was completley overlooked, and deleted anyhow. ----DanTD (talk) 14:42, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A user name is no indication that the person has the appropriate permission - and a telephone call can't be documented through OTRS - as it was said before, just go through the WP:OTRS system. Skier Dude (talk 05:14, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipedia. I'm resubmitting this for your approval as I didn't realize there was a problem. Please let me know if this is still unacceptable to you. Many thanks, Nancy Burson

Nancy Burson is best known for her pioneering work in morphing technology, which age enhances the human face. Her Human Race Machine, which allows people to view themselves as a different race, is used worldwide as a diversity tool that provides students with the profound visual experience of being another race. She was responsible for the creation of computer morphing technology, which was later acquired as software used by the FBI and National Center for Missing Children to assist in locating missing children and adults. Her Human Race Machine, which allows people to view themselves as a different race, was featured on Oprah in 2006. Currently there are Human Race Machines touring the U.S. college and University market.

Burson's art has been shown at museums and galleries worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Venice Biennale, the International Center of Photography, NYC, and the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston. "Seeing and Believing", her traveling 2002 retrospective originating at the Grey Art Gallery, was nominated for Best Solo Museum Show of the Year in New York City by the International Association of Art Critics. Burson has taught at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and was a visiting professor at Harvard University in 1998.

In recent years she has collaborated with Creative Time, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and Deutsche Bank in completing several important public art projects in New York City. These projects include the billboard "There's No Gene For Race" and the poster/postcard project "Focus on Peace." The LMCC's "Focus on Peace" project distributed 30,000 postcards and 7,000 posters around the site of the World Trade Center to coincide with the first anniversary of 9/11.

She has authored three text-based books and four books of her photography. As a photographer, writer, inventor, healer, and minister, Burson lectures and teaches worldwide, providing first hand experience with the unseen. Currently, Burson is conducting presentations and workshops to familiarize her audience with the material included in her newer, text-based books. In the past few years, she has created public presentations at many diverse venues including The United Nations, The Glastonbury Symposium, The Prophets Conference, Bodhi Tree Books, the Cincinnati Art Museum, East West Books (NYC), and Breathe Books (Baltimore). She lives and works from her loft in SoHo, in downtown Manhattan.

Laagi Tujhse Lagan

the page was deleted on no basis at all. There are millions of other article with similar television show data page. I tried to revive the article with complete new content written by me which was again deleted. The show is prominent Indian television show and its really strange deleting the page when there are million other pages with similar content. The original deletion tag was put in by an unidentified ip which I presume was sort of vandalism. The show page had proper infobox, plot, cast, reference and external link. I do not see why the article is deleted at all. -Vin99 (talk) 17:24, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article in question was not deleted so there's really nothing to be done here. However, I closed the AFD on this article back in June as redirect but I made it clear in my closing statement that it was strictly an editorial decision on my part and that there was actually no consensus to do anything. Therefore, it's disappointing that 2 experienced administrators are trying to "enforce" a "redirect AFD result". This should be handled through the normal bold revert discuss cycle. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 17:44, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the page should be restored, as I had to find it in "deletionpedia" when I was searching for addittional information on his books, including one that has had a section saved as a resource at: http://www.cd3wd.com/cd3wd_40/JF/JF_OTHER/SMALL/Heating%20&%20cooking%20with%20wood%20-%20Ken%20Kern%201974.pdf which is a world-wide information resource, for self-sufficiency. http://www.cd3wd.com/INDEX.HTM

Designbox

I would like to ask that the Designbox article be considered for un-deletion. The reason given for deletion was that it may not be notable enough. I believe that it is noteworthy software and should be included, citing the following reasons --

1. Designbox is an add-in product for Microsoft's Visual Studio and is listed as an add-in in the List of Visual Studio Add-ins section of Wikipedia. No add-in product will be as noteworthy as stand-alone applications, but within the Visual Studio product space, Designbox is a noted product with recognition by Microsoft, ComponentOne, Infragistics, et. al., as well as the user community. I can include additional links/references to community material if needed.

2. Designbox is a living product with an active user community. The product is actively maintained and marketed and kept up-to-date with the latest enhancements in Visual Studio. I'm not sure what metric could help here in judging noteworthiness -- but we have a large set of users that value the software and the company behind it is growing each day.

3. Designbox is functionally interesting. Designbox enables programmers and UI designers to use a novel, new approach to designing their applications. It has been recognized as innovative within the Visual Studio developer community. Quotes and links are available.

With the above statements in mind, please re-consider Designbox for inclusion. I would also be interested in suggestions for improvement for the article as well as a better understanding about what metrics/processes are used to judge notabilty so that I can attempt to address them in my edits. -Joegra (talk) 12:50, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Barcade

This article was proposed for deletion during the Christmas holiday. I believe this was done deliberately as I would not likely be checking the page during this time. Barcade is a famous bar in Brooklyn, NY with new locations about to open in NJ and Philadelphia, PA. Our company owns the registered trademark and franchise rights to the name Barcade and have had to defend the trademark recently against competitors. I believe that one of these competitors may have had our page deleted to spite us. The Barcade article had been established quite a while ago and had many reliable third party sources cited. -Pnkermiz (talk) 16:52, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
