The 'Toofan' or 'Toophan' (Persian:طوفان meaning: Hurricane ) is series of combat helicopters produced by Iranian Aviation Industries. In reality the 'Toofan' is a 'Bell AH-1 Cobra' designed in the United States in the 1960's off the UH-1 'Huey'. The new produced helicopter has two vesions, the second type, Toofan II unveiled on January 2013 By General Ahmad Vahidi and delivered to both IRGC and Iranian Army. Unlike the first version which unveiled in May 2010, the new craft uses new laser technology.[1]

The chopper designed by Iranians and is equipped with advanced technology that most of the new generation of combat choppers enjoy. The targeting system is improved with new optical and laser technology like auto lock victim targeting.[2]

Toofan is a special chopper with the capability to target tanks, ground vehicles, running objects and is able to enhance light and semi-heavy missions because of it's precise targeting, auto fire control and missile management.[3]
