Page contents not supported in other languages.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by JzG (talk | contribs) at 09:13, 2 January 2020 (→‎outlawsgameroom.com: Added to Blacklist using SBHandler). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

    Mediawiki:Spam-blacklist is meant to be used by the spam blacklist extension. Unlike the meta spam blacklist, this blacklist affects pages on the English Wikipedia only. Any administrator may edit the spam blacklist. See Wikipedia:Spam blacklist for more information about the spam blacklist.

    Instructions for editors

    There are 4 sections for posting comments below. Please make comments in the appropriate section. These links take you to the appropriate section:

    1. Proposed additions
    2. Proposed removals
    3. Troubleshooting and problems
    4. Discussion

    Each section has a message box with instructions. In addition, please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment.

    Completed requests are archived. Additions and removals are logged, reasons for blacklisting can be found there.

    Addition of the templates {{Link summary}} (for domains), {{IP summary}} (for IP editors) and {{User summary}} (for users with account) results in the COIBot reports to be refreshed. See User:COIBot for more information on the reports.

    Instructions for admins
    Any admin unfamiliar with this page should probably read this first, thanks.
    If in doubt, please leave a request and a spam-knowledgeable admin will follow-up.

    Please consider using Special:BlockedExternalDomains instead, powered by the AbuseFilter extension. This is faster and more easily searchable, though only supports whole domains and not whitelisting.

    1. Does the site have any validity to the project?
    2. Have links been placed after warnings/blocks? Have other methods of control been exhausted? Would referring this to our anti-spam bot, XLinkBot be a more appropriate step? Is there a WikiProject Spam report? If so, a permanent link would be helpful.
    3. Please ensure all links have been removed from articles and discussion pages before blacklisting. (They do not have to be removed from user or user talk pages.)
    4. Make the entry at the bottom of the list (before the last line). Please do not do this unless you are familiar with regular expressions — the disruption that can be caused is substantial.
    5. Close the request entry on here using either {{done}} or {{not done}} as appropriate. The request should be left open for a week maybe as there will often be further related sites or an appeal in that time.
    6. Log the entry. Warning: if you do not log any entry you make on the blacklist, it may well be removed if someone appeals and no valid reasons can be found. To log the entry, you will need this number – 933657886 after you have closed the request. See here for more info on logging.

    @WikiWarrior9919: no Declined (for now). A single incident and the block seems to have been effective as deterrence. Please report back here in case of repeated further spamming. --GermanJoe (talk) 21:17, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    indiantalents.in

    Also being added by other editors probably in good faith, but this isn't a reliable source and is being spammed by Vibefounder. Ravensfire (talk) 18:29, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    They've left a message here on my talk page that doesn't inspire any confidence that this will stop. Ravensfire (talk) 19:32, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    Blocked Vibefounder as spam-only account. We could add it now to the list, or wait to see if any other spam-only accounts emerge to try to add it again. OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:52, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    Okay - I'll add it to my list of sites I run linksearch on periodically and if it gets spammed again by IP or new editors, I'll request it be blacklisted at that point. Ravensfire (talk) 15:29, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    cryptopotato.com

    Slow-moving spam - additions of inappropriate links to cryptocurrency articles from random IPs, e.g. [1]. No current instances remaining, but I find myself removing one of these every couple of days, always from a different IP that has no other edits. Is one of the pay-for-play crypto outlets - David Gerard (talk) 10:27, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    and I've just added it to the list myself [2] - think I've done this right - David Gerard (talk) 10:30, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    Could you also add a log entry at MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist/log? The SBHandler user script automates all of this and makes it much easier. — Newslinger talk 20:18, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    ooh, thank you! - David Gerard (talk) 20:25, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    123movies.*

    • Regex requested to be blacklisted: \b123movies\.\w{2,3}\b

    For example:

    123Movies has had a ton of spam with various clone sites. It's been semiprotected, but there's no reason they should be linked to imo. I have a feeling they'll be back once the protection expires. There's also been at least one user who was autoconfirmed that added the link multiple times. This regex will capture any 123movies domain ending with a 2 or 3 letter TLD. I chose to use \w{2,3} rather than * because it seems safer (but my regex skills aren't great). – Frood (talk) 21:26, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Indian financial scheme spam

    These site have been spammed in the past by various users and IP editors, but it stopped for a while. It's come back of late, so probably time for the black list. Ravensfire (talk) 15:33, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    @Ravensfire:  Defer to Global blacklist, cross-wiki problem. Since the COIBot reports for pradhanmantri.info and pmagreement.in indicate that the domains are being spammed on the Hindi Wikipedia as well as the English Wikipedia, could you please resubmit the request at m:Talk:Spam blacklist? Thanks for reporting this. — Newslinger talk 03:13, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    This link has been spammed across the wiki by a series of IPs. The following are a sampling.

    Warnings don't seem to phase the person as 67.140.42.97 has received three within the last day and still keeps adding more every few hours. It isn't clear that any of the radio shows provided on the page are public domain and they are only added by these IPs who make no other edits to articles. Avoid-Blacklist-trigger-cbronline.com/news/ibm_has_to_recall_150000_l40sxs_to_fix_possible_hole_burning_snag/

    I would like to add this article as a source to a new article I wrote about the IBM L40SX.

    In the removal discussion here they say "Computer Business Review Online used to be a reasonable news source", and the article I want to cite is from 1993. So I would argue that it's a fine source. I don't need the whole domain to be unblocked, this single URL is fine. Streepjescode (talk) 14:26, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    I went to update an footnote on the vrbo page,only to find the domain blocked. I tried searching for a reason, buyt I could not find one. (I'm also a total newb at this, so could be user error). I did see some discussion around a sock puppet (don't know what that is, exactly), but I would expect that particular endpoint/listing to be blacklisted, not the entire site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.34.134 (talkcontribs) 20:56, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    @165.225.34.134: no Declined,  Defer to Whitelist for specific links on this domain. Since Vrbo is a nonjournalistic commercial site that has been spammed in the past, we will generally not remove it from the blacklist. However, you can request specific links on the site to be whitelisted if they can be appropriately used as primary sources. — Newslinger talk 03:21, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Logging / COIBot Instructions

    Blacklist logging

    Full instructions for admins

    Quick reference

    For Spam reports or requests originating from this page, use template {{/request|0#section_name}}

    • {{/request|213416274#Section_name}}
    • Insert the oldid 213416274 a hash "#" and the Section_name (Underscoring_spaces_where_applicable):
    • Use within the entry log here.

    For Spam reports or requests originating from Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Spam use template {{WPSPAM|0#section_name}}

    • {{WPSPAM|182725895#Section_name}}
    • Insert the oldid 182725895 a hash "#" and the Section_name (Underscoring_spaces_where_applicable):
    • Use within the entry log here.
    Note: If you do not log your entries, it may be removed if someone appeals the entry and no valid reasons can be found.

    Addition to the COIBot reports

    The lower list in the COIBot reports now have after each link four numbers between brackets (e.g. "www.example.com (0, 0, 0, 0)"):

    1. first number, how many links did this user add (is the same after each link)
    2. second number, how many times did this link get added to wikipedia (for as far as the linkwatcher database goes back)
    3. third number, how many times did this user add this link
    4. fourth number, to how many different wikipedia did this user add this link.

    If the third number or the fourth number are high with respect to the first or the second, then that means that the user has at least a preference for using that link. Be careful with other statistics from these numbers (e.g. good user who adds a lot of links). If there are more statistics that would be useful, please notify me, and I will have a look if I can get the info out of the database and report it. This data is available in real-time on IRC.

    Poking COIBot

    When adding {{LinkSummary}}, {{UserSummary}} and/or {{IPSummary}} templates to WT:WPSPAM, WT:SBL, WT:SWL and User:COIBot/Poke (the latter for privileged editors) COIBot will generate linkreports for the domains, and userreports for users and IPs.
