You totally deserve this

The Barnstar of National Merit
For your sterling work on Isa Khan. How about the Baro-Bhuyan now? :-P Aditya(talkcontribs) 06:40, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
this WikiAward was given to Md.altaf.rahman by Aditya(talkcontribs) on 06:40, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Mr Kabir. You are the first person to appreciate my contribution in wikipedia ! I am mostly working on Sonargaon, Bikrampur, List of rulers of Bengal and Isa Khan. Certainly Baro-Bhuyan is a good suggestion to add into my to-do list:) - altaf 19:36, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi altaf, i noticed your signature doesn't include a link to your user, talk, or contributions page which means other editors have to check the page history in order to find the author of your posts.

If you wish to keep your signature black, you can still link it using for instance <span> tags for the color. Putting [[User:Md.altaf.rahman|<span style="color:black">altaf</span>]] in the preferences pane (see picture on right) would produce:

Notice that it has a link but still might not be clear to other editors that it has one unless they hover/click on it.

I'm glad i could help :-) Also i have reverted Checkin34z's edit and left an explanatory note at User talk:Checkin34z. If the dispute continues i suppose we could seek further input for instance at the NPOV noticeboard. benzband (talk) 22:06, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Guess what ! Checkin34z has made yet another revert. this time he added a vague reference. This simple issue is getting dragged for long. I like your suggestion. In fact I am up for any quick solution. Keep up your good work ! Altaf ((talk) 06:12, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
I have undone the edit and made changes to the article. Also the NPOV/N thread is here: Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard#Tishma. benzband (talk) 19:08, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

History of Dhaka article

Dear brother Altaf, It appears that u reverted my editing in the above captioned article unjustifiably. This may tantamount to vandalism. We love Dhaka and many of us feel the advent of Dhaka is mainly due to making Dhaka a provincial capital. Morover before reverting any article u must discuss it in the talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of Opi Karim

Hello Md.altaf.rahman,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Opi Karim for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. scope_creep 20:48, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Map of Mughal empire in the page : History of Dhaka

Hello ! Please do not delete any thing without any discussion in the relative talk page. You have deleted the map of Mughal Empire in the History of Dhaka article without any discussion. Thanks that some other editor has reverted it. The logic is simple in 1700 AD Dhaka was not only included in Mughal Empire but the city was also a bustling capital of Subah Bangla during that time. Please do not work unilaterally as your thought may not be the only logical thought. Be respectful to others view as well. Regards !Hossain Akhtar Chowdhury (talk) 07:35, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Dear Mr. Altaf it appears that you do unilateral action based on your own unsupported idea which tantomounts to POV. DO you have any anti-Mughal wrath in your cognition? The map of Pala empire does not bother you but you are highly against the Mughal map despite the fact that Dhaka was in it's Zenith at the mediaeval time during the Mughal era. Have respect for others objective view brother! We all love Dhaka a lot. Warm Regards Murad67 (talk) 07:48, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Muhammed Zafar Iqbal bibliography

The article Muhammed Zafar Iqbal bibliography has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article is based on the list of the books of the subject, there is no any reliable source/sources that support the list of the books, the list is also not a wiki-articles. The article does not passes the notability (books), it should be merged to the subject's article or deleted.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Follow an article's established referencing style

Information icon There are many different correct citation styles on Wikipedia. Please don't change the established arrangement of references, as you did to SM Sultan. As a general rule, if an article has evolved to use one citation style, the references should be left in that format, unless, after discussion, there is consensus to change it. For more information about variations in citation styles on Wikipedia, please see this page. Worldbruce (talk) 09:40, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Nusrat Imroz Tisha

Your last edit summary at Nusrat Imroz Tisha didn't really address the fact that there are two identical articles at Nusrat Imroz Tisha and Nusrat Imrose Tisha. Either they are two different people (as you said) who should not have identical articles, or it is an alternate spelling or plausible misspelling, which would call for a redirect. So which is it? —Hermionedidallthework (talk) 21:16, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
The previous redirect which I undid was to the unrelated Tanjin Tisha but Hermionedidallthework's last edit was to the identical article Imrose Tisha. There's been a confusing history of moves, vandalism and confused redirecting but I think it's straight now with an article Nusrat Imrose Tisha redirected from Nusrat Imroz Tisha and a totally separate article on Tanjin Tisha. Hi, I have reverted your edit, removing wikilinks, on the Barisal article. You removed links to names in the Notable people section. Did you not see the editors note within that section saying that unlinked names should not be in the section. By removing the link those notable people may have had their entries removed by another editor, who did not notice your error. Having then reverted legitimate links to a second article you edited I checked your edit history. You have done a huge amount of delinking to a lot of articles in a very short period of time. Note that only duplicated wikilinks should be removed. Links within tables, or in sections that are much further down a large article are acceptable; and often necessary. Red wikilinks are also usefull, where they highlight something or a person that needs an article creating. Could you please check all the edits you made to ensure you have not delinked other names. If other editors, or I, spot more errors your edits may simply be reverted in entirety. Richard Harvey (talk) 10:19, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Debesh Bhattacharya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://archive.thedailystar.net/2004/02/05/d402051503106.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bot/Script Spam

Hi Md.altaf.rahman - you've made over 500 edits in the last couple of minutes removing Persondata templates. Any reason you're not using AWB for this? It did flood the recent changes log, but I guess no harm done - sorry for launching at you! (Nice script btw!) -- samtar whisper 21:30, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
@Samtar:, cool. I just wanted to write one by myself. I didn't realize I flooded everyone's recent changes log. Ok, I guess, I should stop making all the changes in a single day. Thanks. #Altaf# (talk) 21:54, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Happy New Year Md.altaf.rahman!

Persondata removal

Hi, Md. I saw that you are manually removing the Persondata templates from articles en masse. Kasperbot3 has been approved to do this work, and the bot will be leaving messages in the edit summaries explaining how editors may get involved in the Persondata-to-Wikidata transfer process. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/KasparBot 3. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 19:39, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

@Dirtlawyer1:, oh no ! I should have known earlier. Thanks ! :) #Altaf# (talk) 19:49, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Hahaha! I just thanked you for one of these, noticed that I'd been alerted to quite a number, and was about to inform you of the fact that you're taking on job you don't need to. Cheers for the thought, all the same! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 03:01, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
I came to let you know KasparBot is handling this, but it looks like you already know. Please stop removing this data before it can be transferred to Wikidata. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 07:43, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
It would also be helpful if you would go an rollback/undo all your edits removing this data. The work is being done by a bot (as you have been told multiple times), but the bot can't move the date if you have already removed it. I undid some of your edits, but I don't have the time to fix all these mistaken removals. Please go through and replace the persondata so it can be moved properly before being removed. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 08:00, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Why have you made thousands of these edits in the space of a few minutes? What could possibly have made you think that was a good idea? —Xezbeth (talk) 08:08, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
They've got to be using a bot or some other automated process. The edits are happening too quickly. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 08:13, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Let me undo my changes. ~Altaf~ (talk) 08:15, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Manual reversion will take you too long, and making thousands of bot-like edits again would be even worse. I'm not sure what the most efficient way of dealing with this would be. —Xezbeth (talk) 08:24, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
I have raised this at AN/I at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Persondata template removal, since I do not expect anyone to manually fix this. —Xezbeth (talk) 09:57, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
It turns out that removing the templates isn't a problem, so you don't need to revert anything. Still, making thousands of edits in such a short period is a bad idea anyway. —Xezbeth (talk) 11:15, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Art Supawatt Purdy

Dear Md.altaf.rahman I writing you as I need your help. I am learning how to be Wikipedia Conributor/Editor. I am from Thailand, English is my second language.
Ive started to write an article Art Supawatt Purdy(now a redirect page), also known in Thailand as Supawatt Aumprasit, a Thai Star w:th:ศุภวัฒน์ อ่ำประสิทธิ์ who I've admired since i was a boy not only for his ability to act but also as my idol for his personal struggles and make the best out of his life when his start was poor and unfortunate. Unfortunately, my article have been deleted. They said I dont have enough reference, so I worked very hard on my day off from work go to old magazine store to find articles to reference. I believe Ive done a lot to prove his notability.
So i look back to see some of the people he worked with to see how their articles survived the delection and I found your name.
Could you please help me out and do the same for those articles such as Mai Charoenpura. Some of those article has as little as only 10% of the reference I have found for Art Supawatt Purdy. Thank you so much.Greekadoniz (talk) 05:33, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:23, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Qazi Mahbub Hussain

I changed the unreferenced tag you placed on Qazi Mahbub Hussain to {{one source}} because it does cites one source: the March 1993 issue of Rohossho Potrika, although it doesn't give an article title, author, or page number, and there's little hope of obtaining a copy to check. Most of the content was added by other editors much later than the reference, so it probably didn't come from the magazine, although there aren't any inline citations to show for sure.

What's your feeling regarding whether he's notable or not? You wrote articles on his sisters Sanjida Khatun and Fahmida Khatun. Is he in the same league? I PRODed Qazi Mahbub Hussain, but an uninvolved editor deproded it. Now I'm trying to decide whether to take it to AfD, and would value your opinion. --Worldbruce (talk) 03:18, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi @Worldbruce:, well, yes, that unambiguous reference made me put the unreferenced tag. but, I guess, you are right, it is still the only reference of the article.
I have just made a quick search - well, he was indeed not notable as his siblings and his father. His obituary on The Daily Star did not mention any of his signficant achievements (usually they do overdo) and his death was mourned by the Bangladesh Chess Federation since his father was a notable chess player and the founder of the organization. I would support AfDing him. Altaf (talk) 23:31, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sadya Afreen Mallick, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Firoza Begum (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Thank you for making a wiki page for Shuchorita

Thank you for making a wiki page for Shuchorita
Hello sir,

I've been trying to edit few information for the actress' page Shuchorita but I can't seem to. I know you may say most of these information are cited but I can assure you some of them have false information and Bangladeshi newspapers aren't the most reliable source. I really appreciate your write up but it would be kind if you could help me rectify the false information. Please contact me. Mm.kimte (talk) 05:50, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

Editing Suchorita's wiki page

Editing Suchorita's wiki page
Hi again,

This is my mother's Wikipedia page so I can assure you the spellings of my parents' names are as per their passports and so is Suchorita's birth day and year. The newly corrected information are cited. I hope you are aware that some of the information you gave are wrong and MUST be corrected for an international academic source as Wikipedia. Mm.kimte (talk) 09:50, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for accepting my edits

Thank you for accepting my edits
Thank you for accepting some of my edits. I completely understand that people could make such claims. I'm trying to find a solution since a lot of her life isn't recorded. Her birth year for instance, she was 8 years old in Bablu(1970) and as per her passport she is 1962 too but your sources say otherwise. I'm sorry I messed up the work segment trying to edit it, but I couldn't find plenty of her movies(you can find them in her IMDB). Also she is a Bangladeshi actress from Bangladesh, not Pakistan, show me source or kindly change that. I'd really love it fix this page so I request you to be patient with my edits. Thank you again. Reverting Isa Khan edits

Hi. A couple of weeks ago you reverted one of my edits for Isa Khan's page. I understand why some of the info was removed as it was unreferenced, an oversight on my part which I will correct later. But you also removed the Bangla script for Isa Khan's name, saying that he "was not Bengali". It's not a big issue, but I was wondering why you believe this? Alivardi (talk) 18:20, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

@Alivardi: Good points ! First, indic scripts must not be added as per this rfc. Second, there are cited sources of Isa Khan being from Muslim Rajput ethnicity through his father's side and Arab-Central Asia descent through his mother. If you can provide citations from reliable sources of Isa Khan being a Bengali, then you can certainly update the content accordingly. Altaf (talk) 07:05, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

@Altaf, Humayun Azad is my favorite person, why do you want to remove his photo? Can you upload a good photo of him? Fayaz Rahman (talk) 03:47, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

@Nasirkhan:, I would love to hear your explanation why keeping the content of the birth date and place of Mohammad Mosaddak Ali does not appear to be constructive which are cited by reliable sources. Altaf (talk) 17:43, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
I was concerned about the Birth Place. Though it is suggested to use the name of the place at the time of birth, i think it is better to use the present name along with the previous name. I can show you a big number of articles which is using this approach. If you are aware of about the Bangladesh politics, this person have a controversial role. SO just by reading "Born in Pakistan" will mislead the readers, in many cases you will not get any chance to explain the reason of wring this way. That is why i reverted that edit and made changes. I hope you understand the intention now. Nasir Khan Saikat (talk) 06:29, 11 October 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nasirkhan (talkcontribs)
@Nasirkhan:, Good points ! But what you think (or any other individual editor thinks) is better for an article is not how Wikipedia policies should follow. If you feel like the birth place in the time of birth is not a good policy, then I would suggest to propose the change at Template:Infobox person and build a consensus and make it an official policy. Until then, we should stick to the Wikipedia guidelines. Besides, a wrong practice in some/many articles does not constitute doing the same in other articles. And we should not assume our readers are naive. The first line of the article mentions about the nationality of the subject. A little common sense is required of our readers to be able to interpret the information. Thanks. Altaf (talk) 06:50, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League

Thanks for checking the constituency articles. In the case of Pabna-1 I think we have to stick to the cited source. Fukui, writing in 1985, says that "[BKSAL] was disbanded as a result of the August 1975 coup d'etat",[1] and it certainly wasn't the same after 1975, but some rump must have remained, because Nohlen, Grotz, and Hartmann, writing in 2001, record that BKSAL contested the 1986 and 1991 elections, winning 3 seats and 5 seats respectively.[2] Once elected, the BKSAL candidates seem to have caucused with the Bangladesh Awami League, and may in subsequent elections have stood as Awami League candidates, but during the 1991 election they were in many cases running against Awami League candidates. So since Vote Monitor Networks and Amarmp say Abu Sayeed was a BKSAL candidate in 1991, I think that's what Wikipedia needs to say too, unless you find a source that specifically contradicts them. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:19, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

@Worldbruce:, My bad. I should have checked the cited sources more carefully. Thanks for the detailed explanation. Altaf (talk) 01:47, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

I've listed Kazi Shahidullah for investigation at WP:copyright problems, as it seems to contain content copy-pasted from at least four separate published sources. Could you please explain how that came about? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:10, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
@Thine Antique Pen:, @Justlettersandnumbers:, hi, I must have got carried away lately to create/add contents. My bad ! Let me know what I can do to fix things. Altaf (talk) 19:34, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Altaf, thank you for being willing to help put things right. The most useful thing you can do now is to start a list, here on this page, of articles that you have edited, noting for each whether it contains any copied content, and if so, where that was copied from. I would hope that all, or very nearly all, of your editing time would be dedicated to this task until it is complete. You have almost 40000 edits, so however we go about this it's going to be a lot of work for a lot of people; having your assistance should make it much quicker and easier. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:58, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
@Justlettersandnumbers:, thanks ! I am pretty sure not all my 40K edits in the last 8 years have copyright issues :) But its a great advice, I'll get on creating a list for the articles in at least the last 2 months that have issues. Thanks ! Altaf (talk) 19:06, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
Well, Altaf, I really do hope not! Anyway, thank you for offering to make a start on a list, that's really most helpful. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:19, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
