[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Argentina. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Argentina's Economy section
[edit]Sherlock4000, please take a close look at my edit and the one you rewrote.[1]
There are two main reasons why the Argentinean government is using the pension funds;
1)the continuous shrinkage of reserves held by the national government.
2)To Attempt to boost the economy with government spending in the face of an economic downturn.
My edit attempts to give a really brief economic background of the reasons why the government is looking to use the pension funds. And while, I agree with you that the words “desperately” as another user tried to use, might come across as a weasel, your addition of the word “help” completely contradicts what the source[2] used for that particular sentences is arguing for.
It might also amount as POV, since it remains to be seen whether the economic policies of the government will actually “help”.
I don’t want to engage in another argument, but I suggest you re-examine your edit and perhaps reworded it so that it gives a fuller understanding and a more neutral account of the events.

adding "spam" links
[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Publishing. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. [edit]This issue has been extensively discussed in the Talk page. This is the third time I ask to you refrain from deleting referenced information without at least discussing your proposed changes first. If you disagree with the information presented, please let us know your arguments fully referenced with equally reliable sources. Edits etc
[edit]Hi
I thank you for your communication. Just to answer your second point, I believe all I did was revert someone else's edit, which to me seemed to not contain anything that would be a problem if reverted. If I did revert something that was a grammatical fix, it certainly was not intentional. I did read his changes thoroughly, and noted they were the exact same ones as appeared two or three times before, such as reversing the Italian and Spanish etc.
I was just finishing off reading around 30 articles and files from the internet, especially the ones off the Argentina Gov website, where I downloaded 7 excel spreadsheets about various demographics (2001 census) and income & export figures for reference from the http://www.indec.gov.ar/
My interest in this is to get the Argentina page restored to its good article status.
My worry is that in even wishing to get the article up to standard I have had to read about 4 hours of arguments on the racial/demographic make-up of the country. I have so far worked out that the arguments have been going on for over 2 years, to my knowledge as far back as 20-04-2006 (thats english notation lol)
I do not wish to get involved other than to say this. So far I have read that the smallest amount of White population is quoted at 85%, many put the figure at 97%. The largest number of racial groups is put as 17, the lowest states 9.
That is it. I cannot comment any further on those figures, other than to say that the Argentinian governments main articles are not in English so I cannot read them lol. The ones provided for me in english are for numbers of people by sex and area, and realistically that is all I am concerned with.
As for the article, I think (and I stress this is my POV only) it should not adopt the CIA factbook figures for white people, but put both, 97% seems high, thats higher than most European countries, and 85% seems more realistic - that is suppose seems too low lol. I do not think that ethnic breakdown should be listed by genetic means as we are all descended from the same peoples, Homo Sapiens Sapiens and Homo Sapiens Neanderthalis.
I do not agree with racism, nor do I think that it matters whether the country is made up of 85% or 10% white black or yellow people, and trying to prove or disprove these figures simply enforces racism even if it is unintentional.
As I said earlier, my intent is to get the rest of the article up to a good standard, and realistically it is sad that the Demographic section is so highly fought over when there is so much work to do on the rest.

Hi Sherlock4000, thank you for your message. I can see the position you are in and how frustrating it feels. However I think I should point out if you continue reverting Ecuadorian Stalker's edit you also run the risk of violating the 3RR rule. I see you have reported the situation. You now need to take a step back and let an administrator handle the situation. Instead of editing the Buenos Aires article any more, it may help to voice your opinion on the talk page and discuss the problem.

Pre-1916 elections
[edit]As I noted in the edit summary, the fact that they were pro forma is irrelevant, the events still happened, and we have plenty of articles on Wikipedia about rigged/falsified/one party state elections, so I think saying that there is nothing to put there is wrong. Please stop removing them from the template. At best, make them all link to one article (Argentine presidential elections 1862-1910 and write a stub there. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:26, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Your edits to Argentina
[edit]Hi there, Sherlock. I've noticed you have recently reverted my edits and replaced with yours, with no reason whatsoever.. I consider that my original text was the apropiate for the article, nevertheless I think we should improve the section together since it has major grammar mistakes and lacks cohesion.
I also think that we should check the percentages of the actual ethnic groups in Argentina, if you take a look at the source that backs up the actual percentages Argentina you'd notice that states:
- European/White 86.4%
- Mestizo 6.5% (article states 8.0%)
- Amerindian 3.4% (unknown source)
- Arab 3.0%
- Other 0.4%
This source definitly gets in conflict with INDEC: Encuesta Complementaria de Pueblos Indígenas (ECPI) 2004 - 2005 (in Spanish), INDEC (actually conducted and endorsed by INDEC) that states that the amerindian ethnic group makes up 1.4% of Argentina. So the actual percentages may differ..
I am looking forward your reply. Regards, --Fercho85 (talk) 07:24, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Sherlock, let me tell you I'm glad you can consider me as your wikifriend :) In the future I hope we can exchange opinions, gather info and work together. I happen to agree with you as for the actual figures,
- European/White 86.4%
- Mestizo 8.0%
- Amerindian 1.6%
- Arab 3.0%
- Other 0.4%
As for the afromended section in the article which as I said has major grammar mistakes. This is my actual improvement:
(Your statement)
- "Argentina was second only to the United States in the number of Euopean immigrants received, and at the time the national population doubled every two decades mostly as a result.."
(My improvement)
- "At the end of the 19th century, Argentina became the second country to recieve European immigration only after the United States. Due to this large-scale immigration the national population doubled every two decades during the immediate post-war decades.."
I hope you agree..
PS:Sorry I replied to you 4 years later..I had several exams at university. If you ever need a third opinion or NPOV you can perfectly count on me.

thanks for your help here! You did what I'd hoped - if I turned the redlink blue, someone w more familiarity would help. Thanks StarM 17:28, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- thanks! Do you work mostly on museum articles or Argentina articles? If the former, may I recommend WP:MUSEUMS, which is sorely lacking in coverage of museums in non English speaking countries. I'm hoping to use this museum as a Spanish refresher, but I haven't had a ton of time. I just noticed the red link on a couple of artists' pages and decided it must be a fairly significant museum. StarM 03:36, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- I try to work on museums, they're an interest of mine, but don't have a lot of time. What I tend to do is see what I can do and refer it appropriately to other workgroups, etc. Great that you have a personal connection to/interest in the region. Great help because I haven't seen too many working on South America outside of Brazil, which seems to have a lot of active an interested editors. Replaceable fair use Image:José Octavio Bordón.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:José Octavio Bordón.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 21:13, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Horacio Massaccesi.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Horacio Massaccesi.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBelgrano (talk) 13:42, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

- Hi, I believe that is an incorrect translation, see my rationale at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2009 November 30#File:Carlos Inzillo.jpg, and a Spanish speaking Commons admin seem to agree with me. 11.723/31 deals with the need to obtain the subjects permission (or not) before publishing a photo of them, not whether or not the photo is copyrighted. So while you are "free to publish" photos taken in public without permission from the subject it doesn't mean that such photos are not copyrighted at all. --Sherool (talk) 15:50, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Silvio Frondizi.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Silvio Frondizi.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 21:12, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

Support with White Argentine

Thanks for your support, and goodbye... for now.
[edit]I sincerely thank your for your support in defense of White Argentine, but it was not enough. This site is invaded by intelectualoid scum (Andy the Grump, GiovBag, etc.) so I'll move for greener pastures. I'll concentrate my efforts in my own website Razas del Mundo, and I won't waste them here where they are not considered valuable. Thanks for everything, you have made my Wiki-experience a little less forgettable.--Pablozeta (talk) 02:38, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- While I'm in the area anyway, I'd like to also thank you for your contribution to the debate, even though I disagreed with your viewpoint. It was important that a robust discussion be had about this subject, and that couldn't have happened without your energetic defence of the article. - DustFormsWords (talk) 04:47, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Re-addition of material.
[edit]This was not the best way to go about putting the material back in.
A change of this scale should have been done in two or three stages, and with many more edits than 1 massive one.
By all means reinsert material that you think has been taken out incorrectly, but it should not impact on more recent edits, and definitely not on a series of copy-edits that had significantly improved the article.
THe page has, for a long time, been far too big. This has been mentioned on several occasions back since Fenruary 2009 when I took great legnths to copy-edit it last time.
I spent a long time yesterday copy-editing the article and have undone your edit so that we can work together to ensure that the reinsertions do not further damage the article.
Next time, perhaps undoing the removal would be better. Chaosdruid (talk) 20:48, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
(I have transcluded this message to the article talk page to continue discussion there.) Chaosdruid (talk) 20:52, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- I have made a proposal on the talk page for a subpage to put the removed material onto so that we can work out what needs to go back in Chaosdruid (talk) 21:08, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- I had gone down the page as far as finishing the "Modern history" section. Some of my edits in that, and a previous section, were over-written. No big deal though :¬) Chaosdruid (talk) 21:12, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- This is going to get silly if this continues. Please read the Talk:Argentina page. I clearly have stated that there is a problem from two editors and so consensus for your changes was not met. I have given you the chance to discuss before acting, and yet you have reverted again!
- I told you I had edited as far as the end of "Modern history" yet you can see from this diff [3] that you have wiped over my edits in the "Early history", "Building of a nation-state" and "Modern history" sections. I ask you now to undo your own last change so that we can progress.
- Chaosdruid (talk) 21:43, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- This is the last time I will give you any leeway - you are making repeated edits without discussing ANYTHING on the Talk:Argentina page. Chaosdruid (talk) 22:59, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- Please try and use the Talk:Argentina page where we can all just keep a better track of what we are each intending to do than keep going to three separate User talk pages as well as the others !.
- I have an interest in Argentina as I feel that people here in the UK have a biased view (Falklands etc.) as well as from having met a couple of Argentinians during my life. I think that the country has had bad press and after the problems after Peron the country certainly deserves a bigger cut of the worlds generosity. The pampas and Northern Argentina, indeed Argentina as a whole, are certainly on my list of "10 places to see before I die" lol :¬)
- Anyway, lets try and work together to get the article into a really good state ! Chaosdruid (talk) 23:28, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Argentina
[edit]Sherlock, I hope that even if you decide to add back some part of the article Argentina, you will actually avoid reverting all the other edits, because in your last edit you did exactly that. I started editing this article with the intent of bringing down the page length to more manageable levels, but in the end it wasn't the only thing I (or other users) changed. So, if you believe that I cut off too much, and that a given section should be brought back to the main article, I'm more than willing to discuss the matter on the talk page, but please don't revert any single edit that happened in the last 2 days.--LK 21:02, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- You're still missing some edits. If you tell me which parts you want to see added back, I will add them back myself. Then hopefully we can discuss about how much should be left in...--LK 21:31, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- I do understand that, and again I'm open to discuss each and every change, but I don't see any logic in some of your reverts, which is why I believe they are mere oversights. The history section is a good example: other than changing a picture or two, I left most of the section the way it was. Yet, if you compare Chaosdruid's revision with yours, you will note a large number of differences. Of course, none of these involved adding back any part of the section, since none was removed.--LK 21:56, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- Plus most of the edits by IANVS, made between LK's and my edits, were in those sections. Chaosdruid (talk) 22:07, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- Some sections (especially the Ethnography, and the Economy and Economic History portions) were clearly repetitive,
- That's the problem here. Repetitive or not, I don't remember removing anything from the Economy section. In fact I added the "cut" revision of the section back to the article and now it's 1kb bigger.--LK 22:13, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Off for a few hours
[edit]Hi
Unfortunately I have to retire to bed, it's 00:30 here, so will have a look tomorrow and then we can see where we are. I moved the economics section from the talk page to User:Chaosdruid/Argentina/Changes page. Hopefully it will all fall into place over the weekend.
Thanks for you guys taking it all so calmly :¬)

Draft of the proposed User:Chaosdruid/Argentina/Changes
[edit]Hi
I have edited the two sections currently targeted and the results are ready for you and Underlying to look at User:Chaosdruid/Argentina/Changes.
Rather than start hacking it about, or putting it back in, can you respond at [[Talk:User:Chaosdruid/Argentina/Changes]] as to whether there should be any more changes or that you are happy/sad with the version currently there.
Hope all is well with you as I haven't seen you on in a couple of days. Chaosdruid (talk) 18:58, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Shameless Horse-trading proposal
[edit]I agree with your edits to the economy section, but you'll let me reduce the culture section to 2100 words (the approximate size of the culture section on the Germany article). Is that acceptable? :¬) --LK (talk) 22:04, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Jorge Romero Brest
[edit]On 22 February 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jorge Romero Brest, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that art critic Jorge Romero Brest was the director of Argentina's National Museum of Fine Arts from 1955 to 1963? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Speedy deletion nomination of Argentine people of European descent
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Argentine people of European descent, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:13, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Userfication of White Argentine
[edit]Hi, I see you have this userfied,User:Sherlock4000/White_Argentine after such a lot of discussion and edit warring and ultimate deletion at AFD of this content Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/White_Argentine (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs). Please do not replace it to the mainspace without discussion and consensus support, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 17:51, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
- An IP just blanked it - so it's been reverted, and I've applied a semi protect.
- I've changed the archiving statement to point to the new location of the talk archive - remember if you ever get this back to article space to edit that code.
- Ronhjones (Talk) 00:22, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Congratulations with your idea
[edit]Sherlock, you're a genius; you kept a draft of White Argentine to improve it, that's great. If you want, we can work together in the new article. I give this link to a source that might help you add a section on white argentines' self-identification and their access to education and technology: Etnia, condiciones de vida y discriminacion. I found it several months ago, but I had no time to process it and add it to the article before it was posted for deletion.
Furthermore, I give you this link to the article as I have it published in another wikisite, although it is still in construction. I relocated the section Estimates at the top, kept the section Distribution, and added the section The Myth of White Argentina, which I think you might find interesting. I plan to add more sections naming actors, politicians, architects, artists, writers, journalists, etc. Basically it is the article as it was before those guys -you know who- began to attack it, with some later additions. I hope you find in these links something useful to be added to your draft.--Pablozeta (talk) 19:49, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Papel Prensa
[edit]On 7 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Papel Prensa, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Papel Prensa produced 170,000 tons of newsprint for 170 dailies in 2009, accounting for 75% of the newsprint market in Argentina? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Changes in Euro-Argentines
[edit]Hi, I took the liberty to modify some figures in the article. I changed the percentages and amounts of people because the previous ones included the Arabs; I left them out now. I think that the collage of photos in the infobox can be restored now, for now the label of "Argentines of European descent" does not breaks any rule on BLP or ethnicity. If you consider it does, let's talk about it. Also many other photos and data can be added, as the list of artists in tango, folklore, rock and sports. I added the sections, but feel free to remove them or modify them if you consider something is wrong with them. In any case, let's keep in touch. Ah, the text I added is mostly what I had written before, but now I left out the Argentines of Arab descent, and replaced the phrase "White Argentines" for "Argentines of European descent", but I may have had some "W.A." phrase unreplaced. So, if you find some, please forgive my mistake and replace it.--Pablozeta (talk) 20:49, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, Sherlock. I re-added the sports section, leaving only the paragraphs where I state what collectivity brought what sport, which are well-referenced. I took out the lists of sportmen until I have more sources of their European ancestry. Anyway, I left Fangio, Locche and Firpo, whose Italian ancestry is referenced in the text. Galtieri, Alfonsín and Hagelin's photos may also be left, for their European descent can be referenced too. The problem with those people who are grandchildren or great-grandchildren of European immigrants, is that it is hard to find a source that provides their genealogy so many generations back. I agree with you anyway that we must be very thorough for the "wolves" are lurking to detract any small detail in the article.--Pablozeta (talk) 13:33, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Nomination of Argentine people of European descent for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Argentine people of European descent is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Argentine people of European descent until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 05:07, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- I'd advise against editing the article. As it contains substantial amounts of text copy-pasted from the 'White Argentine' article with no edit history, it constitutes a breach of copyright, and will undoubtedly be deleted for that reason. Instead, I'd carry on working on the userfied versionAndyTheGrump (talk) 14:49, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

- Great, Sherlock! They seem to accept the article. Andy is questioning the semantics of the term, but he did not go further. but GiovBag appeared again, redirecting the article. IANVS and I reverted his changes, but I wonder if this is going to be the beginning of another war edit. I hope this Italian understands some reasons at last.--Pablozeta (talk) 01:29, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Major changes in Argentines of European descent
[edit]Hi, Sherlock. I ask you to help me persuade GiovBag not to make major changes in the article before seeking consensus. I reverted his arbitrary changes twice today. I dont want to violate 3RR, and I think he needs to see that we are many who support the article as it is. It may need addition of sections not amputation of paragraphs, sources or photos.--Pablozeta (talk) 18:57, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- Can I remind you both that when reverting, you must use the proper tools, and not copy-paste an earlier version. A copy-paste destroys the edit sequence history, and thus constitutes a breach of the copyright of other contributors. AndyTheGrump (talk) 19:02, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Carlos Loiseau.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Carlos Loiseau.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Argentine elections

- Well, if you have time, I do have a couple questions. :-) I'm reworking parts of the Rivadavia-class battleship articles, and I'm wondering if you can help me with a couple items...
- Are there any resources/references on the legislative bill that authorized the ships? It was passed at the end of August 1908 with 72 in support to 13 opposed, but that's all I have...
- Livermore, "Battleship Diplomacy in South America: 1905–1925", citing American diplomatic cables, writes that socialist gains in the legislature in 1914 fueled a movement to sell the ships, but he can't be referring to the actual Socialist party, only the Radical Civic Union. Do you know (a) whether Livermore is, indeed, referring to the RCU and (b) can/should they be described as socialist?
- Last, you might like this journal article ("Socialism and Democracy in Argentina in the Age of the Second International"). Thanks for any help you can provide! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 01:24, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Sherlock4000 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
@Berean Hunter:: Please consider that I've never used this secondary account to edit-war, as it was an account that I used only occasionally and only on non-Argentine related subjects (the ones Bobrayner and DaltonCastle have been edit-warring on); of course I'll gladly delete/inactivate the secondary account if it's best, as I hardly use it (the edit you mentioned was to update the federal debt on the U.S. Economy page, whose infobox I update once in a great while. The 98.166 IP hasn't been used at all since March - and it was never used to edit war. The closest edits on that IP to my Sherlock log-on are six weeks apart, and never in the middle of an edit dispute. In the meantime, you can be assured the two POV pushers will be reinserting their stale op-eds and BLP violations. I'll be happy to accept any suggestions and answer any questions you may have about this at all. Please reconsider. Thank you, Sherlock4000 (talk) 22:31, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Decline reason:
The claim that you never used IP or alternative account to edit-war is factually incorrect. All of them edit-warred, though not on the same articles. Then there's also the block evasion and other violations of WP:SOCK. Huon (talk) 00:00, 18 June 2015 (UTC).
Hi, @Huon: Can you please point to these violations? Please keep in mind most of those accounts (w/ sole exception of the Nononsense one, which I've never used to interact with the two accusing editors) have been verified as having nothing to do with me. The IP address hasn't been used since March - and while it did edit some of the same pages as Sherlock, I never "edit-warred" with it as the edits were at least 6 weeks apart -9/7 to 10/22-. Thank You. Sherlock4000 (talk) 00:10, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Although Berean Hunter is the blocking admin and I value any thoughts he may have, this is a checkuser block and cannnot be easily undone. You have a very clear history of thinking you can edit as you please, whether it's editing without logging in, for which you've been blocked more than once, or as it turns out, for having another undisclosed account almost since the date you created your main account. Contrary to what you appear to believe, I can see no legitimate purpose for you to have an account to edit non-Argentinian articles.
- The most I would agree to at this point is the usual six-month offer, meaning come back no earlier than six months from now and make a credible request to be able to edit again using only one account and always logging in. I'm not saying such a request would be granted, but I wouldn't consider a request any earlier than that.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:45, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- You were blocked for a month last December but you evaded that block using the other account deceptively and despite the fact that there had been multiple SPI filings against you. We're not interested in you pointing fingers at other users; this is about your behavior. I do find that most other accounts were used inappropriately to edit war and stalk the editors with which you have a beef. I've hardblocked that IP because we can't trust that you won't try to use other accounts with it.
— Berean Hunter (talk) 22:47, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: and @Berean Hunter: For Goodness' sake I never used that secondary account to interact in any way with either of those two editors (who are trying to ban me to push POV on WP Argentina). Please by all means delete the Nononsense account - as I did not know you could not use it even in completely unrelated edits! The 98.166 IP, in turn, has not been used since March - and even before then, never in a particular edit dispute (no less than 6 weeks -9/7 to 10/22- went by before the IP edit and the nearest Sherlock edit). I haven't used it since March and wouldn't at all, even to edit about Timbuktu. Please reconsider. Thanks again. Sherlock4000 (talk) 23:00, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- Your statements about your "innocence" are simply not believable. You may have not used the IP since March, but the use was after your last block for using it. I also remember your saying similar things to Mike V when you were blocked for editing without logging in and asking him to "reconsider". How can anyone who's been blocked twice for sock puppetry say "I didn't know" over and over again? I have nothing more to say here.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:10, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

- Hi, @Bbb23: I was not using the IP account to "sockpuppet" and told MikeV so at the time (alas, to no avail). The block was based on edits that were 6 or more weeks apart -9/7 to 10/22- and never in the middle of an edit dispute (something he didn't notice at the time). In the meantime likely sockpuppetry by Bobrayner went unnoticed ([4]) and Dalton castle is reinserting his BLP-violating gossip as we speak, as I said would happen. Thanks again. Sherlock4000 (talk) 23:20, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- This block is about you. One more comment attacking another editor, and I will revoke your access to this page.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:43, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

- @Bbb23: That's fine - but can you please take into account the fact that a) I never used the secondary account to interact with these two at any time; b) the IP edits from last year that brought on the trouble were always at distant dates (six weeks to six months) from my Sherlock edits, thus confirming that the IP was never used to sock-puppet. I might add that several other accounts were mentioned that have nothing to do with me, as corroborated by the check-user inquiry (I say that because those poor souls were blocked with the accusation they had something to do with this, when they most certainly did not!). Bbb, this whole thing was a mistake; nevertheless I will adopt any and all changes you suggest (I'm not that familiar with Wikipedia's rules, certainly don't want to trip on any of them, and thus welcome advice). Thank you. Sherlock4000 (talk) 23:59, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
In reply to the comment regarding the decline of the unblock request: WP:Sock puppetry#Inappropriate uses of alternative accounts also includes this provision: "Editing project space: Undisclosed alternative accounts are not to be used in discussions internal to the project." Huon (talk) 00:49, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Huon: Thank you for your reply. Please bear with me, but I don't understand what that means exactly. I've only ever used my main (Sherlock) account for all these edits in dispute (the ones being reverted wholesale as we speak). I did once or twice have a content dispute with someone deleting RS content with the Nononsense acct. - but they never had anything to do with my main account edits (I certainly did not know you couldn't have any content disputes on a secondary account). I never used that acct. to sockpuppet on benhalf of the other - and certainly don't want to use it at all now, even on totally unrelated work. I have already stopped using the 98.166 IP. Thanks again. Sherlock4000 (talk) 01:25, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Using the Nononsense account, you vigorously pursued another editor. You opened this discussion at WP:ANI. When that didn't go anywhere, you essentially repeated the same accusations at WP:DRN here. I'm not even counting the discussions you participated in on article Talk pages. I keep saying I'll have nothing more to say here, but it's hard for me to let go misstatements of fact, and the refrain of "I didn't know" is tiresome.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:38, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for looking into it @Bbb23: - and please note that dispute had nothing to do with my Sherlock work at all. I really had no idea you couldn't have any separate content disputes on a secondary account! It goes without saying that if I'm unblocked that account is to be dumped ipso facto (please expunge it, if such a thing is possible). Regards, Sherlock4000 (talk) 01:55, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Emanuel Gandolfo
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Emanuel Gandolfo, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The article Héctor Larrea has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Does not seem notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Avishai11 (talk) 20:47, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
