inre: Lewis Milestone[edit]
It seems that Milestone got caught up in the red scare of the 50s... and while not exactly black-listed, he was grey-listed. So in late '52 or early '53 he went to Europe for a few years. In England he filmed Melba in 1953 and They Who Dare in 1954. Then he got involved in nearly forgotten film created as a British-Italian joint venture. La Vedova X was produced in Italy in 1954 and released there in 1955. It had a very limited release in the US in 1957 under the title The Widow. In 1959 it had a release in France under the title La Veuve, and for some strange reason IMDB lists its release only as 59... an error picked up by multiple online databases who pretty much copy whatever IMDB offers... and has carried over to the Milestone filmography here. I submitted update information to IMDB and shared the sources I found that showed the film having earlier releases than 1959. If they act upon the submission, and add the updated information to their database, great. But if not... well.....
I would like you to take a look at User:MichaelQSchmidt/The Widow (film) and see if I covered all the bases before I take it live. Thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:05, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Appreciate the second set of eyes... and the poster image. I have a minor quandary, and will be on a film set for the next 12 hours and so the answer might resolve itself when I check back in... but I am ready with DYKs for 1. Lucky Partners being the first on-screen pairing of Ronald Colman and Ginger Rogers, and 2. The Widow (film) was the last film involving Milestone's own writing.... But every time I scroll up and down the DYK list seeking one to review, they have all been reviewed. Do I post the nomination and simply wait? Or is there a "quiet" time of the day when unreviewed nominations are more likely? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 16:23, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Apparent issues with the images in Wedding dress of Queen Victoria[edit]
Hey there, you probably need to take a look at Talk:Wedding dress of Queen Victoria, where two editors are saying the images in the article aren't of the wedding dress at all (and one of them has now removed the images from the article). The concern has also been raised at WP:ERRORS#Wedding dress of Queen Victoria saying the image needs to be taken off the main page (I noticed this because I have ERRORS on my watchlist). Anyway, you may want to take a look at this if you see this before the article's off the main page. Jenks24 (talk) 08:31, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, I now realise there wasn't an image of the dress on the main page anyway (still removed from the article though). Jenks24 (talk) 08:35, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

SRK[edit]
You know, actually I was not the one who added this info to the intro, and at the beginning I was indifferent to it. However, I have seen several documentaries about him since then and read several more western articles, and all mention him as being the biggest movie star in the world in terms of fan following. I don't think being known to the west is one of the criteria determining this - it's the scale of fame. And I see your point too, so no issues I think. Shahid • Talk2me 20:31, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

- I have replied after making the necessary additions in the above article. The two palaces in Bahrain have almost nothing on the google search worth using, except for the protests. You may like to work on this User:Nvvchar/Royal Palaces of Abomey now since I have added more text and images. However the title leads to Ahome, the town article. Wildlife of Zimbabwe is due for posting today. Shall I post it after you finish your inputs a. You may like to suggest a hook also. Dr. John Hill has complimented us for work on our respective user pages. Now, I feel we are on the verge of becoming wikiholics. Bahrain palace[edit]
The palace may be in the background of this PD photo, but the photo says it was taken in Manama. (It also might be a mosque instead of a palace? Who knows. I couldn't find many good photos of Sakhir Palace to compare with.) It at least looks similar to this photo, which is called Sakhir Palace... but that photo also says Sakhir Palace is in Manama. I'm not sure if there's another Sakhir Palace in Manama or if the photographers are confused about Bahraini geography or what... There's also not much left of the PD photo if you crop out GWB, but I guess it could be better than nothing. Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:19, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Bin Laden Compound[edit]
Just passing by and I noticed that you restored image Bin Laden Compound2. Do we have a license for that? If so it should be stated prominently on the image's page that the photographer personally authorized its use for wikipedia.Brmull (talk) 22:59, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes we certainly do. It was only deleted because I added the wrong url link to flickr. I personally requested the photos so you should be thanking me. He changed the license on flickr to CC-sa. Stating he is the author is enough. Thanks on wikipedia? Fat chance.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:16, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Thankyou. I don't think people realise though just how rare public photos of that compound are though... There was only this editor and another on flickr who had any images of it, the rest were uploaded copyvios. We are very lucky to get them. The vast majority of them are owned by the media circus that followed...♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:40, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Question about DYK[edit]
Herr Doctor, I come to you with a question. I am working a large group of articles relating to Marga T's novel Badai Pasti Berlalu (which is one of them). I am planning on having a simple hook, like "... that Marga T's novel Badai Pasti Berlalu spawned critically-acclaimed movies, music albums, and a song?" Right now those redlinks are simmering in my userspace (the song and album is pretty much done). My question is this: Just how many links would I have to include in the article about the novel? Considering how badly it is overshadowed by the adaptations (especially the albums), it is very hard to even find Indonesian-language reliable sources, let alone English ones. I was thinking of keeping the novel article mainly plot summary and about the adaptations, since those are the most notable aspects of this novel. Thanks in advance. Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:57, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Not surprising that. A plot doesn't need citations I don't think. So long as you have a plot and then another section or two with two or three sources that should be OK.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:59, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll get on it. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:53, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Taldysay[edit]
Yeah, I saw that AfD. Interestingly enough, I myself learned of that site only last month (and didn't find it all that thrilling :))
As for Taldysay, there is no place in Russia by this name as of this year (I don't have an ability to quickly and easily check for abolished places, though). The geographic.org search also doesn't return anything by that name located in Russia. Can you perhaps link to the search results you are getting, so I'd have a starting point? Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); May 13, 2011; 13:45 (UTC)
- If you give me a list of names you want me to dab (or point to an appropriate cat), I'll be happy to. I suspect, however, that some of the place names will be too "ethnic" to be found in Russia (Taldysay is one example of this).—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); May 13, 2011; 15:44 (UTC)

- Well, let me take care of Russian duplicates first, and then I'll see what I can do about Kazakh ones. Check out Yubileyny: I moved the Russian places into a dedicated set index, moved the Kazakh place to Yubileynoye, Kazakhstan, and edited the dab accordingly. If I do the rest of them the same way, will this work for you?—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); May 13, 2011; 16:03 (UTC)
- Yes, I'll remember to edit the nav template. Are you planning to be editing it in the next few hours, by the way? Because if you aren't, I'd rather do all corrections in bulk rather than one-by-one (which, however, is fine, if you need to work on it as well).—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); May 13, 2011; 16:10 (UTC)

- I don't really know. We don't have a guideline for the romanization of Kazakh, which complicates things. Looking at BGN/PCGN romanization of Kazakh, however, they recommend to romanize "е" as "ye" at all times, so I guess "Mezhdurechenskoye" is better. What we really need, of course, is a couple of Kazakh editors interested in such things, so they could put together a guideline for us to follow.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); May 13, 2011; 17:47 (UTC)
- It sure is easier to do dabbing between countries when the spellings match, though. For Russian, we use pretty much the same BGN/PCGN conventions, which use "y" extensively.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); May 13, 2011; 18:38 (UTC)

Afghan villages and towns[edit]
Hi! I see you've sorted the current problem once and for all by deleting all the remaining articles in that category. Thanks for being bold -- I know how much pain it must be to lose all that hard work.
If you like, I can offer to start the process of re-generating the Afghan stubs, this time using a combination of the UN data and the Geonames database. Using this, an article would only be generated for places that are in both databases, based on a fuzzy name match that allows for differences in transliteration, and a fuzzy latitude/longitude match. Province/district data would be taken from the UN database. I'd be happy to fuse or cross-check this data with data from other sources, if available. (See, for example, the list at http://spatialnews.geocomm.com/dailynews/2001/sep/11/datasources.html for some ideas.)
The way to start this process would be to refine my existing index pages into tables, containing not only the names, but also the locations and other metadata, to allow for other people to review these. For example, I would expect many comments on the appropriateness and accuracy of the locations. While that's being done, we can get consensus for the creation of the stubs, which I think won't be too difficult, as this time we will be creating high-value high-reliability content.
Finally, the article creation can be performed by bot, after getting permission from the Bot Approvals Group based on the community consensus for the creation of the stubs. -- The Anome (talk) 14:46, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
- Update: I've taken a quick look at the problem. The Wikipedia article on Arabic transliteration shows just how much scope there is for confusion. There's also an interesting BBC article here on the cope of the problem.
- Googling for "Arabic transliteration matching" and "Afghan place names" gives some interesting results, particularly the document "The Establishment of a Geographical Names Authority for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Activities Performed with Respect to Geographical Names and Cartography in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan" from the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names, which refers to the establishment of a Board on Geographic Names in Afghanistan (BGN-A).
- It looks like the GNS uses the BGN/PCGN transliteration scheme: see http://earth-info.nga.mil/gns/html/Romanization/Romanization_Arabic.pdf . I wonder what system the UN uses for its data? The UNGEGN has a site here: http://www.eki.ee/wgrs/ . Presumably it's something like one of these? Can you find out which?
Mensch[edit]
Doctor B
I'm impressed with how you dealt with the latest. Despite some provocation, you found it within you to hear the community's concerns and address them. I'm extremely happy to see this situation de-escalate, and you to be taking the lead in that de-escalation.
Thanks, Bongomatic 15:27, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, I saved what I could within reason. It would have taken a whole week of solid monotonous work just to save them all as one liners. I'm not prepared to spend that amount of time just to save articles which currently are useless, many of which lack any sources in web and google books so it would have required that amount of work just to save sub stubs. Especially with Kazakhstan so many of them are actually towns and not "villages" it would be better to recreate them gradually extracting some old sources and maybe old Soviet census details. Yes we should have good articles on all of them if we are truly to be comprehensive but we sadly haven't the man power, interest or indeed sources to make it possible in the near future. Afghanistan would be best recreated using the up to date UN source as guidance. neatly organized by district and coordinates/map first time of creation. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:33, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi Doc, - er... you don't mind it if I call you 'Doc', do you? ("It's the Arts"), I was wondering if it would be worth trying to move "Neighbourhoods" of Montevideo and Buenos Aires to "Barrios". The problem with neighbourhoods is that they imply, well... neighbourhoods, whereas several of the outer barrios of Montevideo are actually rurlar districts with absolutely no neighbourhood-like element about them. So even in the lead of these barrio articles I have to substitute the word 'neighbourhood' with 'district'. The thing is that on 9 March 2007, someone (now inactive) moved Barrios and comunas of Buenos Aires to 'Neighbourhoods' with the excuse of using English. However, an article exists on Barrio, so we could try to move things there. Do you agree with such a move? I think it will have to be a requested move (as potentially controversial), with discussion and all, so I am checking which way you feel best about. Hoverfish Talk 16:57, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Swell dress, btw... Hoverfish Talk 17:01, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Ok, all Buenos Aires links and former redirects now either link to Barrios and Communes of Buenos Aires or to its only important redirect: Barrios of Buenos Aires. Montevideo was no problem because there were no previous moves, so I will only substitute the "neighbourhood" links to "barrios".
Another issue raised by Gongora, is that to have both a loction map and a street map in the infobox makes an overly large infobox, which in most cases is disproportionate with the article. From this I did some touring and I found a great idea in the Arrondissements of Paris. For each arrondissement, there is a separate section for the street map where various sights of the area are indexed. BUT, while they have this index in the image, I think it is best to give a similar index as a list next to the image. So I will soon experiment with some of the central barrio maps and see if I can come up with something good-looking. I will let you know. Have a nice week. Hoverfish Talk 19:13, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh, about Barrios outside Argentina and Uruguay, as the article says, the use is only for slums... so I think we don't have to reach that far, but I will check more soon, just in case. Hoverfish Talk 19:15, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Oops spoke too soon. This is one exception, but they mostly avoid the word barrio: San Juan, Puerto Rico. Hoverfish Talk 19:37, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Whenever you have time, check out the new map section in Centro, Montevideo. I am not sure if the maps with the numbers on them should be separate downloads, or if I should simply upload them as new versions of the existing ones*(see below). I think the second is more practical, so that other wikipedias could also catch on the idea. Hoverfish Talk 21:59, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
...*, or if I should simply leave them the way they are. Hoverfish Talk 14:28, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, the key is right next to the image (list of 1-8), or do you mean IN the image? Hoverfish Talk 14:32, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Audrey Hepburn's dresses[edit]
Yes, I will do both. She was my all time favorite Hollywood actress. I must have seen her films several times during my college days. I have added some text to Little black Givenchy dress of Audrey Hepburn. I hope it is OK. I will continue tomorrow as I have a headache after the Lorca article.--Nvvchar. 17:02, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
- I have added to both articles of Audrey Hepburn for whatever it is worth. Lorca is to be nominated today. I was surprised to see this here [2]. I suppose I should now remove the credit given for DYK on my user page for the text I added at your suggestion as the main author. Another user feels that I don't need to be attributed for the text I added. I should refrain from adding text to the notablewestern dresses articles in future.--Nvvchar. 01:26, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, that was me. I didn't mean any offence, only as far as I could see your sole contribution was to add a few lines of text that I felt were in the wrong place/inappropriate etc, and so I deleted most of it (it's all gone now), making your contribution to that article negligible. Regards, Ericoides (talk) 05:57, 18 May 2011 (UTC).
- I removed the attribution on my user page for the DYK as pointed by Ericodes. You have put it back. I don't need a controversial credit.--Nvvchar. 17:07, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

On 16 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Elephant hunting in Kenya, which you created or substantially expanded. chiapas[edit]
Chiapas got its DYK... I still have Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapa de Corzo, Tehuantepec and one of the Oaxaca munis with "Etla" in its name to do before I finish my Chiapas trip (with scenic route through Oaxaca). If youre up for any of the splitting off stuff like you did with Oaxaca by all means. I have copied the section on indigenous peoples to see if I can integrate some of that info into already existing articles. Thelmadatter (talk) 19:10, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Notable men's clothing[edit]
I realize you are planning 100 women's articles, but what about:
- "Fur robe of Henry VIII" - from the Hans Holbein, with little white fur tails
- "Starfleet uniforms of Captain Kirk" - daily & dress uniforms, mainly original Star Trek
- "Uniform of Darth Vader" - cape+mask in the original Star Wars
For sets of men's uniforms, I would think the collection would be WP:Notable from collected reports about each, or film/TV-costume-design nominations. Some fair-use photos could have commentary as publicity photos, or film posters reported for costume-design. However, perhaps uniforms of fictional characters would be trouble. Any thoughts? -Wikid77 19:18, 17 May 2011, revised 02:12, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah but the whole point of the 100 was because of the male geek thing and counteracting crappy Linux stubs with more stubs on women's dresses... ! Star Trek falls into male geek category I'm afraid... I doubt i'll find 100 notable women's dresses, my interest in them wavers anyway...♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:28, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- There are certainly 100 notable women's garments. Here are a few to be going on with, all notable and undoubtedly – dare I use that tired cliché? – iconic: Raquel Welch's fur bikini in One Million Years B.C., Jane Fonda's black bodysuit in Barbarella, Marilyn Monroe's white dress in The Seven Year Itch and Audrey Hepburn's little black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany's ("cited as one of the most iconic items of clothing in the history of the twentieth century and perhaps the most famous little black dress of all time" etc. etc.). But since we under the heading "Notable men's clothing", I'd be interested in seeing a page on Jimmy Page's dragon suit, to complement your Thriller page. I don't think it falls into the male geek category you mention above because it's quite feminine, although you might like to argue the toss. If you could find enough material and a nice free pic of that I'd be very impressed. Regards, Ericoides (talk) 21:14, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
I have started the Little black dress of Audrey Hepburn already and Marilyn Monroes is on my to-do list. Sure you could probably find 1000 notable dresses but I doubt there are 100 iconic dresses.. Besides I would need considerable help if we are to gain another 70 articles on this subject!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:37, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, as I can't find where you made the 100 dresses project comment I didn't realise you wanted iconic dresses, rather than notable ones, as you described them some lines above. I'll chip in if I have the time, although I'm frightfully busy with work at the moment. Apologies for not realising that you had already started AH's LBJ -- already looks good. Ericoides (talk) 05:47, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- I understand that focus, so perhaps:
- Golden tan mini dress from Forbidden Planet - the tan mini-skirt in film article "Forbidden Planet" (early design auctioned at www.liveauctioneers.com/item/6321506).
- Green dress of Scarlett O'Hara - the drapery dress from Gone with the Wind (film), parodied by Carol Burnett
- Checkered suit of Lauren Bacall - Lauren Bacall's 2-piece suit with Bogart, perhaps from To Have and Have Not in 1940s?
- Those are some possible ideas. -Wikid77 02:12, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Palacio Municipal[edit]
Excellent. It is well in the Centro, a block away from Cordon, so I corrected it and added some little bits and pieces of info. I also removed a huge map showing the main avenues of Montevideo which for some reason appeared in the infobox. I will add more to it soon. I think the public can go up to the top of the building from an external lift which is on the back, but I have to make sure it is still in operation. Hoverfish Talk 15:38, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
Just uploaded the replica of David which is in front of the IMM and added it in the article. Will check the locator map and see what I can come up with. Hoverfish Talk 16:20, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
Another map showing all of Montevideo should be used and template's coordinates have to be changed for it. The map used now shows only part of the city. However, apart from fixing the city location map, since the resulting map here would be huge for locating buildings, I suggest we could use barrio location maps instead (according to which barrio the building or whatever is in). What do you think? Well, it takes doing some more templates, I know, but the result will be more useful IMO. Hoverfish Talk 16:31, 23 May 2011 (UTC) BUT we don't need to do such templates for all barrios... Just the ones we'll need.Hoverfish Talk 16:32, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Templates[edit]
I got your message about the pushpins. Right now I am pretty much focussed on cleaning up Award templates for (Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmy, SAG, Grammy, and maybe BAFTA). As such I have run into some trouble at Talk:The Beatles. There is a big to do about templates on the page. So far no one has defended the album templates that have been removed. However, I have created a bunch of honors templates where it seems like there are 4 in favor of removing and 2 in favor retaining. If you get a chance have a look at the article and see if you think the honors should stay. The decision there will likely determine the future of similar templates at Michael Jackson as well. I am not sure if it will extend beyond those articles. Basically, WP:FAs have their own rules. To this day, I do not understand why FA Barack Obama does not include my {{USSenIL}}, but it seems that there is always movement afoot to strip FAs of templates to keep them clean.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:15, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

No idea on both accounts sorry.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:24, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- You made Project: Kill redirect to Project Kill, a completely reasonable redirect. Unfortunately, Project: Kill is the same page as WP:Kill, and that confuses people. I hope I managed to explain that at RfD. —Кузьма討論 11:44, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Ahh, I see what happened here. Project: Kill is the actual name of the film. I did not realise that Project: puts it in Wikipedia space. Its a technical glitch.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:48, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Black and white Valentino dress of Julia Roberts[edit]
On 24 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Black and white Valentino dress of Julia Roberts, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Valentino Garavani cited the moment Julia Roberts collected her Academy Award for Best Actress wearing his gown as the high point of his 45-year career? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Afghanistan[edit]
Hi, I'm getting round to it, it's just that it's really quite tricky to do if I'm to properly dual-source these articles, due to the problems with the two databases using different Arabic transliteration schemes which have lots of wiggle room for different spellings. It's quite a hard problem, with its own literature. I've been working away at it bit by bit on paper; when I have the solution right, I'll code it and try it, and everything should just work. The good side to this is that we will (I hope) end up with many thousands of properly dual-sourced, and therefore hopefully both correct and notable, articles once it's done. The downside is that you will have to wait a bit longer than I had hoped. -- The Anome (talk) 19:52, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Saffron Vera Wang dress of Michelle Williams[edit]
The first sentence in Saffron Vera Wang dress of Michelle Williams doesn't look quite right :) That may be the case in some of the other articles too? Anyway, thanks for your work on the dresses articles, and all other work you do on WP! Iusethis (talk) 09:47, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Shannon Irish Pub[edit]
In this article, and elsewhere in the internet, the Puerto Rico pub is mentioned as "Shannon's Irish Pub". However, the logos I find of some of the pubs in Irland and the USA [3] [4] [5] have nothing to do with the logo of the Montevideo pub [6]. Google search gives me results as "San Juan Puerto Rico" (one place, not two). I do not find results for any Shanon in Buenos Aires, but the Montevideo address is "Bartolomé Mitre 1318 esq. Buenos Aires", so this might be a mistake. It does NOT look like there is any chain. Hoverfish Talk 13:33, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
In a week or so I have to go to the Ciudad Vieja, so I'll take my camera and try to get a shot of it. Hoverfish Talk 13:54, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Template for Ciudad Vieja in the next hour or so. I am moving now all neighbourhood categories to barrios. Hoverfish Talk 14:02, 25 May 2011 (UTC) -- Yes interior too. As for me drinking in there, well, for the hell of it, I will see if I can arrange it. Hoverfish Talk 15:09, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Well with brand new Category Ciudad Vieja containing only this, someone must have thought you are advertizing it :) Hoverfish Talk 15:52, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
The second one with the restaurants may be good. I am no pub-goer or an eat-out-fan so I am not sure what applies best. I have moved all to Barrio categories, so don;t use a Neighbourhood category any more. Now, I am not sure what to do with the old Category:Neighbourhoods of Montevideo. I checked criteria for speedy renaming, or category redirect, or just let it orphaned for a while... it's all greek to me. Hoverfish Talk 16:14, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
The reasons I agree with the rename are that, on the one hand you can still include the notable pubs, and on the other, the priority is restaurants. The way the title is set is somehow backwards, making the public houses appear more important than the restaurants. But as you say this is not the point of this debate. I hope you feel better now. Hoverfish Talk 20:13, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
It is a hard choice to start discussing with the users that go about tagging and enforcing things, because it really breaks the continuity of the work and gets one in a weird space of arguments, looking around for rules and guidelines and possibly so frustrated that the whole creative wave evaporates in nothing, but it has to be done, especially if you revert their tags. For a moment I was affraid you were going to get dragged into an argument, but I am happy it went by rather lightly. All best. Hoverfish Talk 20:45, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Bruce Onobrakpeya[edit]
Sorry, me being obscure. I was hoping you could work out how to get them past the roadblocks. I think this should be expanded into a serious article, but it needs pictures of the artists and of the artist's pictures. The web is full of them, but not explicitly freely licensed. I remember you managed that with some Burmese artists, can't remember how. I will take a look at Bojadziev. Seems like a language issue, not a notability one. Aymatth2 (talk) 18:36, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
- Just 200x200px is all I want. I am sure nobody will try to blow it up to 2 meters square and sell it as an original. Oh, well. {Sigh} Aymatth2 (talk) 19:10, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
[[:File:Roy Lichtenstein Whaam.jpg|thumb|300px|Whaam by Roy Lichtenstein]] Looking into pop art for an example of what might actually happen if each pixel was blown up to 1cm, I decided that maybe there is hope. The picture to the right has so far survived in eight articles, each with their own rationale, all identical. On the other hand, commons:Andy Warhol is not at all encouraging. I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you are doing for Uruguay in general and Montevideo in particular. I saw a quite unfortunate comment regarding the quality of your articles here. Adminship[edit]
Hi Dr. Blofeld. Just wanted to ask you briefly: Do you have any interest in being nominated for adminship? You seem like a very productive and clueful member of the project, and I was wondering if adminship would be helpful to you and the project at all. Neutralitytalk 02:14, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Herr Doktor might be better suited for article work, and admin stuff often gets in the way. Besides, that RFA might be too interesting of a read :-) (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:41, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- That's true, but we do need more active content editors admins. Content is king. Neutralitytalk 18:38, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- We need more active content editors who are not admins!! At the end of the day content is the most important so time spent mediating disputes is wasted time even if it is needed.. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:41, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- OK, sounds good. If you ever want to be nominated, you know where to find me. Neutralitytalk 19:39, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Longmen Grottoes[edit]
On 26 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Longmen Grottoes, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the approximately 1,400 caves of China's Longmen Grottoes contain about 100,000 statues, some of which are only 1 inch (25 mm) high, while the largest Buddha statue (pictured) is 57 feet (17 m) in height? Hi Dr. Blofeld. I was just wondering which of the two articles related to Shannon Irish Pub you want to nominate, Irish Uruguayan or Cuisine of Montevideo... or both (which would work well, IMHO). Please reply at T:TDYK. Thanks, and hope the heartburn has subsided. Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:32, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Lag in template update?[edit]
Hi, I uploaded another locator map for the Template:Location map Uruguay Montevideo with finer color for the main avenues and broad enough to take in from Casabo to Carrasco. But I fail to see it appear in its use here: Belmont House (Montevideo). I see the pointer in the new coordinates, but I keep seeing the old map. Is there a lag in having it seen across the articles? Irish Uruguayan[edit]
I smell WP:DYK. Bearian (talk) 22:20, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hi there, Dr. Blofeld! The article is getting shape, congrats! :) I've found something that may help you to complete the article: Dublin Football Club, a former Uruguayan football team that played in the 1920s and 1930s, and the Holy Trinity Church of Montevideo, whose name is still written in English. It seems that it doesn't work as a church any more and, in fact, the building seems to be abandoned somewhere (Reconquista Street?) in the Ciudad Vieja. We only have a picture of it but no article. I uploaded it to Commons almost three years ago. However, I don't know exactly where it comes from, but it's perhaps English and not Irish, since I've found some references indicating that, indeed, it used to be part of the Anglican Diocese of Uruguay. Perhaps Hoverfish can take a better shot. --Góngora (Talk) 13:46, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

List of musical chords[edit]
While I have updated 'major ninth chord', since you added the items, it would seem that the burden of updating the rest of the information in the list would lie on you. Since the items appear to be all red links, none of them need to be on the list anyways. Perhaps you could cite them or remove them to the talk page. Hyacinth (talk) 21:19, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
