Revision as of 06:58, 4 October 2009

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Joe Stork (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection. Constant reinsertion of material potentially incompatible with WP:BLP. User:IronDuke is adding GoogleDocs, a blog, and NGO Monitor in to the article against myself and another editor and is ignoring the discussion on the talk page. The user is also reverting out the tag referring other editors to the discussion on talk.

    Thanks,--69.208.131.53 (talk) 05:53, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ugh. Have you taken this to WP:BLPN? tedder (talk) 06:53, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BLP/N said "Common vandalism should not be reported here; instead, revert it yourself and warn the user; if it recurs, report it at the vandalism report page. If an article is being persistently vandalized, request page protection." I was trying to report here out of deference to their process, but I suppose I will post a copy of this there. Thanks again, --69.208.131.53 (talk) 06:57, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tsawwassen, British Columbia (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Constant vandalism from an IP who claims Tsawwassen is strip mall hell. [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13], [14], and [15]. .  єmarsee Speak up! 04:05, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Mostly a single IP issue, right? If the IP vandalizes again, come to my talk page and I'll block 'em. tedder (talk) 05:50, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Semi Protect Unsourced OR additions. User:DarlieB was blocked for 3RR and all of a sudden, a new user. User:WLPERD is doing the same edits. A discussion appears to have a consensus of not including this info. If protected, please revert to version without the unsourced cultural references. CTJF83 chat 03:35, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Continual target of blocked sockpuppet Mathemagician57721 who uses dynamic IPs. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 01:28, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, I'm not a sockpuppet of Mathemagician57721. After all, the only edit Mathemagician57721 ever made to the page was to remove the kodomo demographic. Not only have I not made that unconstructive edit, I've even made constructive edits to the article. I'm guessing that your claim that I'm a sockpuppet stems solely from the fact that I'm also from Springfield, MO and I edited articles about Pokémon manga. However, are you now going to claim that every IP from Springfield, MO who edits EToP is a sockpuppet of Mathemagician57721, regardless of whether the edits he or she makes are constructive? That doesn't make any sense at all. --75.28.54.214 (talk) 01:33, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If possible, could this discussion take place on the article talk page? Let administrators decide on the status of the page, and they can help out on the talk page in the dispute as well. Just trying to keep the page fairly neat. Regards, MacMedtalkstalk 01:40, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The IP has already violated WP:3RRs by reverting the article 5 times in an hour, which fits the pattern already established by previous Mathemagician57721 socks. —Farix (t | c) 01:47, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've only reverted it twice. Look at my contributions. --75.28.54.214 (talk) 01:50, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
5 times using two different IPs.[16][17][18][19][20] Don't think you will be able to wiggle out of a 3RR violation simply by changing your IP.
Where's your proof that the other IP is me? --75.28.54.214 (talk) 01:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Same edit, same IP range, same geolocation, same edit summary. It's very obviously the same editor. —Farix (t | c) 02:01, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protect it please because User:SMC edited my user talk page on Friday and I erased what he put on my message and I don't want anybody in my user talk page to edit don't erase this comment Dear wikipedia users don't remove this comment on my user talk page, and don't put any comments, and messages on my talk page because I don't want it Wikipedia is not a e-mail system, and you cannot send messages on my talk page. Wikipedia users adding messages and comments are prohibited in my talk page. There will be no comments on my talk page otherwise you will be going to be blocked on Wikipedia. Please protect it now so anybody will not edit my user page. 75.141.100.115 (talk) 21:20, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection. 24 hours after temporary protection expired, unexplained removal of cited information came from yet another IP Address (first edit ever made on any page from this particular IP). Without protection, this kind of disruption is a daily occurrence. --Wakamusha (talk) 23:41, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Let's wait a bit and see. There's only been one once instance of vandalism since protection expired, that's nowhere near what it was like before protection. ≈ Chamal talk ¤ 03:45, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Permanent semi-protection requested due to excessive IP vandalism. The article is a magnet for youngsters; virtually all changes to the page are vandalism or reverts. Thanks if you can help. HarryZilber (talk) 04:14, 4 October 2009 (UTC). After looking at the v-log, it appears to have been protected several times previously, so perm. or indefinite protection would be a better choice. Semi-protected indefinitely. tedder (talk) 05:37, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotect. Semiprotected April, 2008 by FCYTravis, who hasn't edited now in over a year. Discussion started September 30 and admin notified (just in case he's watching his talk page). One response, positive. As usual I'm watching this one closely and will be there to revert vandalism or call for reprotection as and when needed. --TS 06:06, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Hello i have now changed the page and beleive it now meets all your requirements. the page is located at User:Malstrome/Mistress Absolute would it be posible to unprotect the page Mistress Absolute so that the article can be published? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Malstrome (talkcontribs) 06:52, 2 October 2009

Unprotected It's substantially different from what was there before. You'll probably still get some flak if you move it to the mainspace; I'd suggest getting some feedback from WP:NCH and especially WP:SEX before posting, or it's likely to go to AFD. tedder (talk) 09:22, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. You may want add an in-text note about how unsourced additions will be reverted. As it is, though, there isn't enough long-term disruption to justify locking out all IPs. AlexiusHoratius 16:52, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection A pair of IP editors are adding false edit summaries of unaired episodes, which can easily be identified as a poorly disguised mixture of the summaries of the previous episodes. About a week will do nicely. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 07:11, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Note this probably isn't vandalism, so be careful about violating WP:3RR yourself, as you appear to have done. I've warned the IPs and will watch the page. The next course is blocking the IPs, not protecting the page, as the behavior is confined to only two IPs. tedder (talk) 09:54, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection vandalism and generally unconstructive edits. This article has been subject to multiple daily edits by people attacking the subject, adding false information, and generally damaging the article. Animation (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism. This was semi-protected for a while, as soon as that was removed, vandalism started again. It appears this subject attracts IP vandals. --Janke | Talk 06:22, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Only two of the recent IPs have been vandals. Use the user warning templates to aggressively warn IPs from vandalizing, take them to WP:AIV, re-request page protection if the page gets significantly more unique vandalizing IPs. tedder (talk) 09:46, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. BTW, it resumed almost a week after protection elapsed, and from recent activity, it's primarily been one IP. Please use the user warning templates and handle non-driveby IPs through WP:AIV as soon as possible. If it becomes a coordinated attack from many IPs, an edit filter would probably be helpful. It's nowhere near that stage now, though. tedder (talk) 09:37, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
