Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for protection
Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Some protection would be nice, thanks. Drmies (talk) 15:53, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, maybe whatever event prompted those nonsense additions is over--the vandalism has died down. Please have a quick look anyway, thanks. Drmies (talk) 16:48, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, random annoying ip edits. Mister sparky (talk) 15:34, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:37, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Permanent semi-protect Has been vandalised by a certain religious extremist. This is also a very sensitive area on Wikipedia. TEK (talk • e-mail) 14:46, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Pending-changes protected indefinitely. I'm reluctant to shut-out good faith IPs indefinitely, but equally I have no intention of allowing "Lies. All lies" to become Wikipedia's statement on a major religion. Level of edits seems reasonable: if it picks up and pending changes protection becomes onerous I'd consider semi-protection instead. Temporary semi-protection vandalism, IPs repeatedly adding false information about a third season and undoing any attempts to cleanup the article otherwise. —Farix (t | c) 13:49, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Temporary Semi-protect. IP vandalism. His transfer to Real Madrid isn't official yet. Yoda1893 (talk) 11:26, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. TFOWR 15:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, The article seems a magnet for making personal attacks. The majority of edits over the last few months has been to revert anonymous vandalism. Fæ (talk) 11:05, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Pending-changes protected for a period of one month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. On the down-side, you'll still need to revert vandalism. On the up-side, vandals won't get the satisfaction of seeing their "contributions" - and good faith IPs will still be able to contribute. If vandalism picks up I'd consider semi-protection. Current requests for unprotection
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Unprotection, Article was protected in contradiction to WP:RPP. Please unprotect so editors can continue to improve article. Basket of Puppies 03:06, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Fulfilled/denied requests
Indefinite semi-protection vandalism, Vandal target, heavy vandalism. Probably a good candidate for Pending Changes, but TW doesn't have that enabled yet. Ronk01 talk, 08:21, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Pending-changes protected for a period of one month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. There's no history of protection, so I'd prefer to start with a relatively short duration. TFOWR 09:39, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Pending changes protection Excessive sockpuppetry of a banned user. TbhotchTalk C. 06:29, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Pending-changes protected for a period of one month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. TFOWR 09:34, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
6 month long semi protection This article is a vandalism target. Everytime it has been unprotected it has been vandalized again. Maybe after 6 months intrest will have died down enough so the IP's wont vandalize as much. Red Flag on the Right Side 03:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 6 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Jmlk17 08:53, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection. Since it's today's featured article it's been subject to a lot of vandalism, both malicious and good-faith (such as test edits, et cetera.) Request semi-protection until tomorrow to prevent the enormous amount of anonymous edits being made on the article. elektrikSHOOS 05:36, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 05:41, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Month long semi-protection Alot of random IP changes. Red Flag on the Right Side 03:06, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 05:45, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Temporary full protection vandalism, Article has been the subject of an edit war between those for and against keeping a referenced section about an embarrassing incident in 2009. Page should be protected *with* the section as it is properly referenced. See similar issues on Alycia Lane that have been kept in the article. ukexpat (talk) 00:54, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Addendum: The said "incident" is contentious and libelous in that it is (1) malicious, (2) inaccurate and (3) incomplete. It also does not offer integrity to the article. Being in the broadcast news business in another market, I expect the legal department (Linn Broadcasting) of WIVB-TV will become involved in this dispute unless this article is properly protected. N905AM ILS (talk) 02:51, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Note: One IP currently blocked, no more edits have taken place, so it seems stale. I'll keep an eye on it. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 05:47, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
List of Naruto: Shippuden episodes (season 8) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection Multiple unregistered users changing air date information over the past few days. The explanation for why the air date in question is listed as it is is explained in both the article's talk page and in hidden text in the article, but the changes continue. Geg (talk) 02:21, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Note: I added an edit notice, I might be inclined to see if that helps before protecting. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 02:32, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection, request within user space. GSK (talk ● evidence) 22:36, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism. Dawnseeker2000 22:24, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked. I'll keep an eye on it and file an SPI for the socks to see if we can get an IP block. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Note: The users were created and blocked in a short timespan, so it is likely that the auto block solves this issue for now. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 22:37, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection Some vandalism. TbhotchTalk C. 21:48, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Declined, Fair request, but it's not that bad. I've added it to my watchlist. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:27, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Temporary full protection dispute, There is an edit war over questionable BLP material, please loc kthe article until such a time as this is resolved. mark nutley (talk) 21:42, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Declined, no activity in a couple of hours, re-request if it resumes HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:25, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Permanent semi-protection of my username space subpages. I forgot to request that last time.
- Declined, there's just no need. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:23, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

- Since I'm "involved", full-protection is good as well. This has to stop. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 01:58, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
