Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Full Protection -- this page is being vandalized, and given that it's a current event, should be moderated for the time being. HobbesPDX (talk) 21:49, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Please use proper warnings as per WP:VAND#Warnings, there are only a few users who've edited in the past couple of days. · Andonic Contact 22:18, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite full protection dispute, Known problem editor Abd constantly reverts to a version of this page which links to an attack page, that he claims was used in arbitration but never was (labelled draft, never moved to Arb space during case). Please protect indef at the courtesy blanked version. Verbal chat 21:42, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Probably get an admin familiar with the case to take a look at this, unless someone's comfortable protecting one of Abd's own subpages. · Andonic Contact 22:13, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with indefinite full protection in the standing version. Verbal has been attempting to speedy delete user page,[1][2][3] or insisting on up to full blanking [4][5][6][7][8][9] since March. He also moved it out of ArbComm space, which is probably where it should be. Contrary to Verbal's repeated claim, the page was linked (near the bottom of the list), and thus used, as evidence for ArbComm. I originally blanked on Verbal's request. Normally that would have been enough. An admin commented that this is not an attack page. However, the ArbComm-submitted version became so buried in history by all the tendentious edits, including a never-filed MfD, that I put a link to the as-used version. Classic: revert and immediately file RfPP. So, [10] and [11], which worked, so [12] and [13], this filing. Thanks.

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

I wanted to edit this article, but it has been locked since last year for an unusually long time? 96.45.189.204 (talk) 16:21, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I've contacted Wknight here to check with him first. · Andonic Contact 16:55, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    Unprotected. · Andonic Contact 22:09, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

    • Semi-protection - Vandalism has now continued by a user with a different IP address. I tried warning the original vandal, but I don't know if that has worked. If this continues, what else can we do but semi-protect the page? Keith1234 (talk) 17:52, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Jmlk17 18:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Following on from the request for the Europa League article to be protected, this does too: IP is showing intent to continue vandalising this page by reverting to a version before any matches took place. Has also announced he will keep changing IPs to continue doing so on [14]. AllynJ (talk | contribs) 16:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 5 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. · Andonic Contact 17:03, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
[15] is weird... DO you guys see any connection? (I also blocked the ip for a couple days)NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 17:05, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, SirStanley hasn't edited anything with UEFA in the title in the past 500 edits (goes back to mid-July), so I'm not sure we should believe that edit summary. He has edited football articles, but his focus seems fairly spread out in various aspects of British culture, so that's not too surprising. Was that your concern, or more related to the edit's content (in which case, can't help you much, sorry)? · Andonic Contact 17:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I Just don't have any experience with either, wanted to confirm that seemed phony. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 18:26, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I think everything's fine as-is now unless something else crops up then. · Andonic Contact 18:30, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection, There are rumours that the team are about to sign a new player. The page has been prematurely updated all-day-long buy various IP address. All of which has to be reverted by other users who could be investing their time more productively. Fly by Night (talk) 15:21, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. Article is pending changes protected and I note that there are a few anon editors whose edits have been accepted. Presumably, this will be resolved one way or another soon but rereport if this continues beyond a couple of days more. --RegentsPark (talk) 15:27, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There wouldn't have been anything pre-emptively about a protection. Today alone, the article had nine reverts of factual errors before my request. Any way, the IPs seem to have stopped now − the transfer has been finalised − so all's well that ends well. Fly by Night (talk) 17:24, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Declined, almost all offending edits are from one user, please follow the procedure listed in WP:VAND#Warnings instead. · Andonic Contact 17:00, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of three days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. -- tariqabjotu 16:58, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Article seems to be getting a number of IP edits adding unsourced info the the article. Article is currently high profile due to 2010 elections. Happysailor (Talk) 13:42, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected for 3 days. Patar knight - chat/contributions 13:48, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Full protect from all IPs. Repeated consistent vandalism by persistent dynamic IP range as soon as the old protection ends. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 12:16, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. · Andonic Talk 13:33, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone unlock this? The admin who protected it looks to be busy IRL. Ciao. Clamshell Deathtrap (talk) 05:39, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotected, spamming shouldn't still be a problem, it's been almost six months. · Andonic Talk 13:32, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially the youngest member of parliament in the Australian election (on right now). And the most tweeted the person in the world atm. But his page is extremely vandalised. Need protection. Dengero (talk) 11:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I request urgent protection for this page. He looks like he's going to be elected and it's difficult to sort the vandalism from the constructive edits. - Richard Cavell (talk) 11:20, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Done by PeterSymonds. Thanks. - Richard Cavell (talk) 11:24, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection, There is no current discussion or any other reason to have this article protected any longer . Jojhutton (talk) 00:25, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have you raised this with the protecting admin, Crazycomputers (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA)? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:28, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Already done., protection expired a few hours ago. · Andonic Talk 13:26, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
