Revision as of 13:19, 6 December 2013

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request diirectly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Was moved to commons, who have since deleted it because it contains an image of a copyrighted work; no fair-use rationale is available on commons -Josh Parris 09:30, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • So what is your fair use rationale? This is obviously not public domain. The source however is evident from the picture, so a di-nosource is not appropriate. However it is not licensed freely. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:51, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are you talking of the newspaper or the image not licensed freely? I'm unable to see the licensing information, but as the uploader I imagine I would have PD'd it - however, it was a long time ago. The image is not to illustrate the newspaper, but the onsert placed upon it; The image meets all of the fair use criteria:
    1. No free equivalent. Onserts are only placed onto commercial, copyrighted publications
    2. Respect for commercial opportunities. The newspaper issue in question is many years gone; there is no commerical loss to the publisher
    3. Minimal usage:
      1. Minimal number of items. One newspapers.
      2. Minimal extent of use. Only the above the fold part.
    4. Previous publication. The newspaper issue in question is many years gone
    5. Content. The image is educational, illustrating an article.
    6. Media-specific policy. Image meets Wikipedia:Image use policy.
    7. One-article minimum. used in onsert
    8. Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Check.
    9. Restrictions on location. used in onsert
    10. Image description page. Photograph of an onsert advertising Microsoft Office in The Age on 2006-06-01
Also, OTHERSTUFFEXISTS (I know), but look: File:Newsstand.jpg has plenty of copyrighted works depicted. It's on commons. Josh Parris 00:00, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Seems reasonable to undelete. Requester is original uploader and I have added the page description from the deleted revision. MBisanz talk 05:26, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are 4 deleted revisions: 638 × 480 of poor quality; 589 × 360 good; 463 × 284 ok; 282 × 173 a bit small. I would suggest that you want 589 × 360 if the current one is too small. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:56, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a business listing directory. This article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about companies. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning companies will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. Not done The page was not deleted because of a copyright violation. It was deleted under sections A7 and G11 of the speedy deletion criteria, because the subject did not appear to be notable, and because the text read like an advertisment. Yunshui  16:15, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Here is your content apart from tags and headings.

The Long Beach Bike Path in Los Angeles County meanders about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) along the sand from Shoreline Village in downtown Long Beach, California to Bayshore Avenue in Belmont Shore.[1] The path is shared with walkers, joggers, and skaters, so its attraction is more for scenery than for travel speed.

The Long Beach Bike path was originally proposed in the late 1970s but local residents resisted the bike path as it was felt it would be an eyesore.[2] That opposition faded away with time. Final plans for the path were ordered by the Long Beach City Council in 1986 with a budget of $1.4 million. [2]

Done - as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored on request. This has never been submitted for review, but in its present form it is not suitable for Wikipedia, because it is more of a tourist guide or link-farm than an encyclopedia article - see WP:NOTGUIDE #2 Travel guides. You might do better to submit it to our sister site Wikivoyage. JohnCD (talk) 09:51, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

in the article it is mentioned in a clear way for a business, that they should have these kind of weapons to succeed in marketing their company. Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about companies. Articles concerning companies will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject.. Thank you. I'll do it in a few minutes and let u know. Also, I'd like to republish the article according to the policies and guidelines. Should I rewrite and send back to u for review?

I have no problem with deleting the article. I was just wondering how I could get the text back? -Fayed.yousry (talk) 18:14, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I can email it to you if you enable email on your account. To do that, click on "Preferences" at the top of the screen, and at the bottom of the "User profile" tab fill in your email address (which will not be visible to me or anybody) and check the box marked "Enable email from other users". You will need to respond to a confirmation email. JohnCD (talk) 18:36, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The email has been set. It would be great if you could send me the text written in wiki form. Will make it much easier for me to edit it and repost it according to the guidelines. thanks a lot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fayed.yousry (talkcontribs) 16:01, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment:: I see you have re-created it. That's fine, but it will not be accepted in its present form. Read WP:Your first article for advice, and note in particular that you need references, for two reasons: (a) because of the WP:Verifiability policy: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source", and (b) to establish WP:Notability, which requires references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Also, be careful to maintain a neutral point of view and avoid promotional phrases like groundbreaking and truly celebrated the sensual flavors and spices of his native land. If the article sems to be trying to "sell" Cardoz, it will not be accepted. JohnCD (talk) 09:30, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are plenty of sites like LinkedIn and Facebook where you can write about yourself, but Wikipedia is different: it is not a social-networking site but a project to build an encyclopedia, so it is selective about subjects for articles, and writing about oneself is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography. Thomas Ridgewell is a contemporary Internet based film and multi-media creator. He has a large following and is in the YouTube 'Top 200 YouTubers of all time"

His short films and the animated "ASDF Movie" series have received over 444 million hits.

He has appeared on The BBC's One SHow and has been interviewed many times in media and technology programmes, and websites

I don't quite understand why a Wiki page on him would be deleted, as there is a growing interest in his career and content. It was a surprise when my original page was deleted. I would be happy to discuss this in more details with anyone

Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. This article was deleted after a discussion took place at WP:Articles for deletion/Thomas Ridgewell, so it cannot be undeleted through this process; also, after that the article was re-created four times within a few days, so that the title has been salted - protected against creation without permission from an administrator.
If you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user TParis (talk). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at WP:Deletion review. JohnCD (talk) 10:38, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Liam Axbey

Footballing career

Liam Axbey was a reserve goalkeeper for Npower League One football team Brentford F.C.

He made 4 appearances in total for the reserve side however he played for 14 minutes in a League Cup came against Rotherham United after the goalkeeper had to be substituted as he had an injury.

At the age of 38, Axbey moved to Ryman Premier side Harrow Borough having a short spell at the club.

His stay at Harrow Borough ended quickly after a disagreement with members of the backroom staff over how much game time he was getting.

He also tried to distract the linesman by saying 'No that is not a correct decision I will get my Axbey family on you if you do it again' repeatedly.

He then got sent out of the ground where he turned around, held his middle finger up whilst cursing towards the referee.

Personal life

He is currently at the age of 54 running many small charities around the UK for people with Down's Syndrome.

His brother has this condition and Liam is always there to help him with his charity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.218.6.197 (talk) 23:15, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done - as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored on request. Please edit the page to address the issues raised when it was declined, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia.. The article needs references showing significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources to establish WP:Notability. JohnCD (talk) 09:57, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment The only available source is not independent--the author was "one of the pioneers of the Original Marriage Encounter in the U.S. " If we restore it, there is essentially no chance of writing an acceptable article. Perhaps it would be better to make a redirect from the founder's name to the organization. DGG ( talk ) 23:57, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Funkshone

This UK band is notable within Europe and Japan, and I would like to improve the article to reflect this more clearly, by adding significant new information and references. -ClareGC (talk) 21:19, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article was originally deleted after it was flagged under 'articles for deletion' as being non-noteable, and an American user commented that the band only seemed to have 'free downloads and such' (This is an error since the band have produced highly successful albums on CD and vinyl, and this is verifiable), and one further American user, who contributes to Wikipedia only in their role as a deletionist, added their support to the deletion, and so it was deleted after 7 days. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Funkshone

I requested a deletion review, however this didn't attract any discussion during the 8 days it remained open, so I don't know whether anyone has yet viewed the significant new information I submitted. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2013_November_22

We cannot help you here, but you can add another deletion review. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:52, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you write a draft article - click Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title to make a draft page - with your new information and references, and go back to WP:Deletion review with a link to that. JohnCD (talk) 10:01, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both for your replies, suggestions and details. I will write a draft introductory section, with references, in the hope that if this is considered acceptable for an article, it could be added into the original article, so that the page's history is preserved. The original had a lot of accurate information already present, including a near complete discography, which was contributed to by many users over 4 years. Possibly it's because the article has only just been deleted, but I'd feel like I was stealing their work, since the best I could write those sections, would be nearly exactly how they were before. I will add my draft in a new deletion review, as I had also hoped to generate a discussion on the level of influence a band needs to have to be included on Wikipedia, as I understand that it's more than simply selling successful albums. But I admit that that would be more for my general understanding, since I'd hoped to contribute to, and even start, articles about other bands, but am somewhat put off due to them being in the funk genre, where they might not be so well-known to the general worldwide population.
@ClareGC: actually, I think it is reasonable that you should have the old article as a starting point, so I have userfied it for you to User:ClareGC/Funkshone, and you can work on that. I have left in place for your reference the "multipleissues" tag at the top, to show concerns people had wih the article, but you can remove that if you address the issues. For general notability standards, see WP:GNG, and for bands see WP:BAND. JohnCD (talk) 11:22, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for doing that. I'll start working on improving the article now. Thanks for the links as well. ClareGC (talk) 12:08, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. It does not matter that this is a welfare organization, it is subject to the same rules as any other article, see Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause. The article was deleted (a) because it was largely a copyright violation from http://jdcwelfare.org/About-us.html, and (b) because it was much too promotional in tone for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view. Wikipedia is not a notice-board for pinning up copies of organizations' own literature. An article would also need to to establish WP:Notability by references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources . JohnCD (talk) 21:08, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
