you recently changed an edit I made concerning a James Scott richardson born September 16 1980 the edit I made was the correct information concerning this man check the birth date before you edit facts about the wrong man

you could be helpful

You could be helpful if when you change peoples edits if you refer back to what changes you make. It appears to be a common thread that you undo without helping people find the originals. This simply discourages people from working on wikipedia. Thanks you.

Semi-protect

Hi, I was wondering if you could Semi-protect the article: List of Got7 members as it is getting vandalized with stupidy from anon IPs. There were like 6 of them today alone. Thanks. Mikepellerin (talk) 23:53, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I've never received a Wikipedia message before, but I just got one from you! I'm not sure what your message is in reference to: "Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons. Hey Materialscientist. I am just writing in reference to the addition to the Guardian Angels page that was deleted for insufficient referencing, and I was hoping to get your advice. I know the information that I posted is accurate as I was there, and was the liaison in Brisbane with the GA officials, but I have had no contact with the organization since 1993, and I do not know how to corroborate it. Any advice? :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zaphod4242 (talkcontribs) 11:41, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Material Scientist, I am a Piano Historian. I have been writing about the lives of the piano makers from Cristofori- 1929 on my website(http://antiquepianoemporium.com/antique-piano-archive/), with over 1,000 biographies completed already. I am a new contributor to Wikipedia, and I was simply putting a link to my writings because they are relevant to the subject.Thank You. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisppff88 (talkcontribs) 12:47, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to this talk page entry I got alerted to 85.141.211.229's libel and slander. The additions on the Läckberg page should get that IP booted immediately. I've reverted for now, but you might want to block 85.141.211.229 to prevent it from reintroducing "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced". Cheers CapnZapp (talk) 14:40, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
85.141.223.53 added back the exact same bullshit but you made a revert as if it was the very first warning. If you could block both IPs that'd be good, thanks. Cheers CapnZapp (talk) 11:26, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Free energy car article

This article: Magnetic air car, describes a 'free energy' vehicle (ignoring the absurd air system) powered by a 'magnetic motor' (an electric motor that with no input power generates output power). It describes the vehicle pretty much as though it exists without allusion to its pseudoscience origins. I've done a bit of googling and haven't found any RS that calls it "bunk". Any suggestions?

Another article motor was changed to a redirect to induction motor. I kind of think it should be left as an article with it clearly marked as hogwash. Opinions? Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 04:03, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've redirected magnetic air car and weakly support keeping redirect on magnetic motor. Yes, pseudoscience and proposed devices may have wikiarticles, but it is very difficult to keep them encyclopedic, referenced to reliable sources, and devoid of original research. Are you able to help?

Hello, I am contacting you as a respected member of the community who edits scientific articles and who I don't "know".

I consider myself the subject of harassment by another user and have made a complaint here on the Administrators' noticeboard. AfadsBad has called into question my competency as a creator of articles and asserts that "Every article of hers has made up information, inaccurate information, random pieces of information that give undue weight to what she has added, ..." etc. I wondered if you would have time to look at one or two of my articles (they're all listed on my user page) because I feel that AfadsBads criticisms are unjustified. Re: April 2014 - Paris climate box edit

Hi Materialscientist,

I've edited the climate box as one of the numbers (the May average high) was incorrect. No big deal compared to the edits you've just did (including the new mayor!), but I think such a high-profile article should also have exact weather stats. I'm a newbie, but I'd like to edit it back.

Doesn't WP:2DABS frown against a dab page for only two links? Although it doesn't say if they are of equal note which this appears to be.♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:34, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It actually gives an example of a dab page containing two links of equal significance. Few-line dabs never bothered me because most of them can be expanded after a good search, or when new titles appear in the future. Materialscientist (talk) 06:42, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Since you're a Materialscientist, do you think things are really made of strings, or that it's just a model, or that it doesn't matter either way? Also, do you reckon it's possible for a place to be somewhere far away where entropy goes in reverse, or even a place where entropy itself is evenly distributed relative to time (things can be un-born, un-evolve)? THNX!!!!! Also, you really seem to enjoy issuing schoolblocks, could there be a possible personal grudge behind it, e.g. do/did you hate kids who are loud in class? Or do you just like to block them because they're easy to identify and block? 183.207.224.22 (talk) 04:39, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Some Help at Talk:Seahorse

Can I ask you to help mediate an edit dispute/war at Seahorse with an IP editor? The IP editor insists on striking all mention of "medicine/medical" from the section on seahorses' use in Traditional Chinese medicine, while I insist that such edits constitute censorship. I'm getting frustrated making no headway at the discussion at Talk:Seahorse#Medicine?, and the editor is threatening to simply continue on reverting to keep its preferred edits.--Mr Fink (talk) 21:31, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I looked harder for online references that mention that polyimide is most common polymer film used in reverse osmosis. There are a LOT of corporate links; I found one link to a science aggregator that I'd never heard of, "wisegeek", along with a lot of references to patent 5264166. Added refs to both. If you can find a better site than Wisegeek, feel free to use that instead. But PLEASE don't remove the use. It really is the most common material for Reverse Osmosis films. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.100.124.159 (talk) 04:04, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

hi there, i am the manager of this artist. i have written the following paragraph and would like to enquire as to why it has been taken down;

"Born in Manchester and raised in Handsworth, Birmingham. Call Me Unique AKA (Callmeunique) has sung from a very young age but picked up the guitar at 16 years old and ever since has been travelling around the Europe, often solo but occasionally backed by Birmingham based band; Elements Of Sound.

Renowned for her love of scatting and impromptu performances, whether it be a bus shelter or a stadium of 1000's, she has always aimed to portray an honest and heartfelt performance to any willing crowd. "Call Me Unique" has had the opportunity to play at such well known UK festivals as Glastonbury 2013 and even European Festival's such as Music Camp 2013, supporting Polish superstar Bednarek.

The LG Forum at the LG have had Call Me Unique as one of their regular's, opening the LG Arena Forum's for international artists such as Rihanna, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Jessie J and many more! Along side being heavily backed by the support of BBC 1XTRA's DJ Target and the 1xtra team as "1 to Watch" and has been playlisted as TRACK OF THE WEEK with her signature single; The Wife by BBC INTRODUCING.

2014 has seen this unsigned artist achieve great things so far, the greatest thing to be able to document about it ALL is that THE YEAR IS FAR FROM OVER!" — Preceding unsigned comment added by CallMeUnique (talkcontribs) 10:51, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Analgesia versus Anesthesia

I recently made a change to a page where the term Analgesia was described as the elimination of sensation by a drug, but Analgesia is not the correct term for the elimination of sensation. Analgesia is the term used to describe a reduction in pain without numbness or elimination of sensation (usually by reducing the emotional component of pain). Anesthesia is the correct term for the elimination of sensation and creation of numbness by a drug. The two are very similar as Analgesia usually accompanies Anesthesia. You don't speak Russian, do you.

The changes I made to Russian jokes were perfectly constructive. Are you just going around reverting whatever you don't understand? Because I do speak the language.

"Dusha moya" (душа моя) is the phrase alluded to in the text, but not supplied, that literally means "my soul" and that is a term of endearment as well.

"Хуй" (penis) is not transliterated by "huey". The X is voiced, like the ch in Scots "loch" or German "ich", and for which the best standard transliteration is kh. My minimalist change improved the translit, but I should have taken out the e as well since there's no e in the original and "khuy" would have preserved pronunciation just as well.

Please un-revert my changes. 98.118.24.214 (talk) 18:36, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

/*Editing Ryan Benesch*/

        Hello, Mr. M. Scientist,
You sent me an E-mail/message today, stating that I have violated Wikipedia's
Terms of Use upon me editing Mr. Ryan Benesch's page. You also stated that

Wikipedia has a very strict policy on editing pages concerning living/deceased

people, and I am okay with that. As a result, I wanted to tell you that

although I have not stated my source on this info I have put into the page, I know (no offence whatsoever, merely stating a fact) more about Benesch than most

people who think they do, or do not.

1.) He has played almost his entire NLL (National League Lacrosse) career

with the Minnesota Swarm. He has become an easy fan favorite.

2.) I am an indoor lacrosse player as well. I also play in Minnesota, as
Benesch used to (until he got unfortunately traded to the Buffalo Bandits of
the National Lacrosse League in the summer of last year [the 2013 NLL league
draft]). I am a goalie playing in the Elite U15 league in the metro MN area, a
team called the "Junior Swarm. We travel around Canada and the US. Mr. Benesch
was the coach.
3.) I am good friends with Mr. Benesch, as he holds many camps during the

lacrosse season in MN as well, and I have gotten to know him quite well; we are

great friends. Whenever he scores a goal, the stadium (Xcel Energy Center, St.
Paul, MN) plays Elton John's "Benny in the Jets" song. Even the Toyota

Professor, the man (I know him quite well also; he who explains official/referee

calls, rules, goals and other miscellaneous material to the fans), sings along
merrily, while the fans (along with the boisterous announcer, laugh and join in.

Hello. 69.159.39.121 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), who you blocked for repeated vandalism the other day, is behaving in a disruptive way on his/her talkpage (repeatedly engaging in what borders on personal attacks, removing block notices etc and refactoring text in warning messages), so a removal of editing rights on the talk page and/or a longer block than the current 72h might perhaps be in order. Just to let you know who you're dealing with

Just to let you know, User:TheEdnaPhDDoc is the latest sockpuppet of User:DrEdna, who was blocked for edit warring at Goblin shark and for harassing and attacking other editors who either undid her vandalisms or blocked her, and or her sockpuppets. Now that Goblin shark has been page-protected from her sockpuppets, she's moved onto other targets to vandalize, i.e., Tiger shark.--Mr Fink (talk) 03:55, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Also, almost all of DrEdna's sockpuppets usually have "Edna" in the username, or mention "Dr Edna" in her harassment of other users, in addition to pretending to be an insufferably pompous "expert"--Mr Fink (talk) 03:57, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. He has access to a wide range of IPs and will likely re-appear. Materialscientist (talk) 04:15, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't be surprised if she reappears tomorrow morning, given as how her last sockpuppet was blocked just earlier this afternoon..--Mr Fink (talk) 04:37, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In ref to changes to The Bahamas - I would like to recommend changing the word "Black" to African as "Black" does to provide the valuable information needed to verify where most Bahamians originate...there are references to Asians from asia, why are the Africans not listed? In addition, why is it so important to make sure we know what color people are rather then their origins/ race...there is no country, continent or region called black (eg. Asian - from Asia or Chinese from China or indian from india)and this tells nothing of their heritage/ race/ origins as the color black is not a HERITAGE/ origin or race. It would make more sense and would be fairer to use all colors if this is the case eg.yellow for chinese, white for European, red for Indian, black for African. From my research, most if not all races with dark skin originate from Africa..and so lets call a spade a spade — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.144.157.170 (talk) 10:42, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:NOR. All those names are arguable and thus we go by reliable sources. Further, if the article is titled Black Seminoles, one should not try to change this inside the article (this will be automatically reverted), but instead argue on the talk page why the article title should be changed. Room temperature superconductors edit deletion

Re. Room temperature superconductors, the hypothesis I posted has been discussed with two researchers in the field and both agree it is worth further study as such a mechanism could also explain other observed anomalous half lives in other lighter isotopes. Also possible relevance to small variations in half life of isotopes linked to solar neutrino flux but more plausibly explained by temperature fluctuations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.81.133.23 (talk) 13:55, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bigfoot, Scott Nelson

Hello, Hope I'm contacting you in the best manner. I'm contacting you due to your removal of a small contribution I made to the Bigfoot page regarding Scott Nelson. I have been watching/researching Scott Nelson for some time and think it appropriate that he be mentioned on the Bigfoot page. I realize the Bigfoot topic is contentious, and I'm not saying I believe Nelson's work one way or another. Nevertheless, he is an active Bigfoot researcher and this can be substantiated by perusing the internet, late night radio, and YouTube. Please reconsider your decision to remove my submission, or, at least, advise on how to improve my submission in order to meet the standard. P.S. I'm not Scott Nelson, nor am I trying to self-promote a personal website. I have no connection to either Scott Nelson nor the website I submitted. Please see my Sandbox to assess the extent of research that I'm preparing on this topic. Thank you!

Additional information added to Herbalife.

I am afraid it is rather difficult to cite references for the additions I added to the page as it would be time consuming to filter through all the articles on the internet about Herbalife, many of which are biased and negative and I doubt that the information is actually provided on the fully public part on the company's website. Squashing vandalism from my IP Block

Good day!

I am an administrator in the 131.137.* block, and I am interested in squashing any disruptive edits to this site that may reflect poorly on our department. I see you've blocked some addresses in our blk (which I certainly don't have a problem with) but this is a bandaid solution that doesn't do much to hold the individuals responsible for their vandalism to account. I'd like to know more about how to mount a more immediate reaction to violations originating from our group instead of subscribing to a few thousand RSSes for each individual IP. I can be reached at ncrinfosecur-securinforcn@forces.gc.ca for a more formal and private discussion.

Forouhi-Bloomer Dispersion Equations as a Basis for Characterizing Thin Films

Hello Materialscientist,

Thank you for reviewing my article. I am in the process of adding references to my article to show that the Forouhi-Bloomer equations are used widely in both the semiconductor industry and for R&D research (i.e. universities). Are there any other advice/comments you have to help improve the article for acceptance?

Open proxies

Hi, Materialscientist. How can you tell that 223.99.253.66 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) is an open proxy? Is it because of the "Recently reported forum spam source" comment here? (I don't think that was there when I blocked them for a couple of days — I only saw the "Network sharing device or proxy server" link.) I did suspect it was an open proxy, but when I've tried to indef IPs before, on the strength of being a "proxy server", I've gotten blowback because there are legitimate proxy servers. I wish I could identify open proxies so I could block them more efficiently. Have you got any tips for me? Bishonen | talk 12:53, 20 April 2014 (UTC).[reply]

In short, Google "proxy 223.99.253.66", this will give a hint whether this was/is an open proxy, and if it was/is, what was/is the proxy mechanism. In this case, Google will hint 223.99.253.66:81, meaning the proxy used port 81 for connection. Reconfigure network connection in your browser to connect via proxy 223.99.253.66 through port 81 ("Tools", "Options", "Netwokrk", "Setting" in Firefox), then access some IP locator like http://www.whatismyip.com/ and it will tell your current IP, in this case 223.99.253.66 (could be something else for "tunnel proxies"). We can't suspect and check all IPs for open proxies, but this editor gave up an easy hint by obvious socking from a Chinese IP (and then kept changing proxies). Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 13:04, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I failed miserably at configuring my connection via that proxy (I would make a really incompetent vandal) — maybe it's not exactly the same path on a Mac — but I do more or less understand, and I'll get a family member to re-route me to it in a few days. Just to make sure I've got it: if I succeed in connecting through 223.99.253.66 by port 80, that'll prove it's an open proxy? Right? (And then I can vandalise Wikipedia? Ha! Or I could if you hadn't blocked it, of course.) Bishonen | talk 13:52, 20 April 2014 (UTC).[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Bishonen: If you want to go proxy-hunting you can check some of the proxy lists on the 'Net (such as this and/or this), to see if the IPs listed there have made unconstructive edits on WP. Or check if problematic IPs you encounter are listed there... Thomas.W talk 13:46, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Have you had any luck with those lists, Thomas? And do problematic IP edits really prove an IP is an open proxy..? Bishonen | talk 13:52, 20 April 2014 (UTC).[reply]
@Bishonen: I haven't spent time with those lists since I wouldn't be able to do anything about it, if I found a proxy with problematic edits on WP. And problematic edits don't prove that an IP is a proxy, which isn't what I meant either, what I meant was that you, if you encounter a problematic IP, could check if it is listed as a proxy, and can be given a longer block than it would otherwise get. You recently messaged me that you removed one or more external links that I had added. After rereading the guide-lines on external links I think I see where I offended. I have added a link to search results from a vertical search engine that focuses on MSDSs. I see that's in the "Avoid" section of the guidelines and wont be doing that again. I wanted to touch bases with you and make sure that is the offense that you noted as well.

I am rather passionate about MSDS availability and I get very frustrated by broken links to MSDS. In particular, SIRI (siri.org) has hundreds of dead links on wikipedia and even more frustrating is that they have hundreds of thousands of dead links in their search results. They are by far the recognized leader in free access to MSDS but the site seems to be on cruise control and the driver has abandoned the vehicle.

Enough of my rant. Please let me know if I am on the right track with my mini-crusade to update MSDS info on wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Octalz (talkcontribs) 23:23, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure what part of the harv template is bulky or forces the reader to click multiple times. I'm sorry, let me start that again. I am in the process of increasing the article Aardwolf and in doing so, the older style of referencing ie without the harv templates seemed to me to be less useful. I have had many conversations with proponents of both sides and have landed on the side of the harv template, after originally being against them. There are many reasons that this template style is better IMO, first and foremost, it "allows" not forces the user to click it and scroll down to the hi-lited information. Having all the information inline tends to be bulky and awkward looking when one edits. Also, and I know that this in and of itself is not a reason to switch over, as I so succinctly told someone who used this argument on me, but more and more of the FA's and GA's are using this style. You may say that this article is not anywhere near that yet but to that I would say why wait. Anyway, I am not trying to be argumentative, just improve the wiki and over my time here, I have done a lot of editing, random and planned, and everytime I get comfortable with one style someone brings out a new style or way of doing things. I did not use the harv templates until just recently when I realized that they do make things a lot easier for the reader and after all isn't that the final desired outcome. I am not sure why you think they are bulky and such; however I do ask that you work with me on this article (and any others we bump into each other on). For now I will hold of revert-ing and eagerly await your reply. I will bring my books home and do my changes later on. My wife wants me home anyway. On a final note, I hope I didn't come off the wrong way as I sincerely do not mean to offend, some times I get offended and am incredulous at things and may react instead of thinking things through, but I try to be a peacemaker and problem solver rather than the opposite; however I do have strong opinions and tend to get annoyed at the ever-changing "way of doing things" or the fact that no matter which way you decide to do something, you always end up bumping heads with someone who disagrees. Let me know what you think. speednat (talk) 00:09, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please go on and expand the article, reverting my changes if you wish - they aim to help you and reader. Sorry for missing your past discussion on harv templates and possibly repeating some arguments. My philosophy is this:
Use "notes" (I mean "Smith (1986) p. 123", not comment notes) if the same source is reused with different page (chapter, plate, etc.) numbers. Otherwise use full reference. Pros: "notes" simplify coding, and the article becomes lighter and loads faster for the reader. Cons: it becomes more difficult to locate the actual source, but we help that by setting a "click twice" links to source (one click from text to note, second from note to actual ref).
There are many ways to code "notes" and all are fine on this wiki (GA/FA arguments don't matter, they are mostly personal preference, WP policies are above them). I personally prefer using |ref=Smith in Bibliography and then <ref>[[#Smith|Smith]], p. 123</ref> in the text, because it is simple and consumes no templates from the template parsing limit (max. number of templates on page). I embrace harv but don't use it myself.
There are many ways to code full references. I aim to move them from text to reflist to assist text editing as follows: <ref name=Smith/> in text, {{reflist|refs= <ref name=Smith>Smith ...</ref> in reflist. Materialscientist (talk) 00:50, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your understanding. Concerning the final point you made, can you expand on that? I don't yet use the practice of defining the ref in the reference section, obviously as you saw, and am theoretically not opposed to it, but probably am looking for arguments that would sway me. Convince me :)speednat (talk) 18:47, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My dear Mr. M, I need your help

Bonjour,

I just wrote an article on Misoon Ghim www.misoonghim.com and would like your help on reviewing it please. In the past, you have been very generous (re: David Pomeroy) and I would like to use your magic again. As a Certified Public Accountant CPA, my specialization lays in Tax Law, Accounting and Auditing, I also speak and write fluently six languages, maybe I can help you on those specific disciplines pro bono.

As a single dad of a 16 year old, my daughter Adréa is an opera singer, she is heading to Juilliard this summer for training, thus my interest in opera, I wrote about David Pomeroy, now, I am writing about Misoon Ghim who is an outstanding Opera Singer.

Please help me and I will show you Gratitude is the Memory of the heart.

Thanks in advance

Massrollback

Hello, Materialscientist. I would like to request a massrollback of the edits by IP Special:contributions/94.189.184.169. All but about 5% of this IP's edits have been detrimental to the Wikipedia. Most of the edits consist of falsely changing the "years active" notes of musical artists. I will then undo the 5% of the edits that are not detrimental.Hoops gza (talk) 22:37, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed there were a few other pizzalover### users not sure if any of them are related, was digging through contributions when you blocked them. Still not 100% sure what the right way to report something that case if I see anything like it in the future. PaleAqua (talk) 06:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Would be great if you posted links here, to save my time. Materialscientist (talk) 06:22, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is where I was looking Special:ListUsers/pizzalover. Almost all of them only have a few edits if any. Some are like [7], while others are good. Not saying that they are all related or anything like that. Just remembered seeing a similar username before and so went digging. PaleAqua (talk) 07:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I can't do much in this case - most of them are too old for a checkuser scan, even if there was an evidence of socking (like common articles). Pizzalover in the username, taken alone, is a weak evidence. Materialscientist (talk) 07:35, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
NP, Wasn't really asking about them directly, and had started looking before you blocked 888, was looking mostly to see if I could figure the right way to report, AVI for example requires a certain level of warning. SPI requires idea on at least two of the socks involve ( hence why I was searching ). Was more wondering about if I find stuff in the future. Last time I saw something like that ( see my talk page ) I kept most of my suspicions to my self as I didn't want to not AGF, and instead just focused on the visible disruption. Thanks again. Thanks

Thank you for protecting the Black mamba article, I really do appreciate it. This IP editor has been a headache for quite sometime now. I have ALL the LD50 values listed in the article for the black mamba, but he wants to take them all out and add just the ones HE thinks are right. Violation of WP:NPOV, plus he's already violated the 3RR rule. I mean what is going to be done about such a disruptive IP editor who has absolutely no regard for Wikipedia policies and guidelines? --Dendro†NajaTalk to me! 05:24, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Snake articles vandalism

Hi. You have just locked venomous snake and black mamba articles. I have reverted these articles not because of dispute. the other editor is vandalizing those articles and snakebite article as well. he edited a lot of the black mamba article, probably his favorite snake, and he shamelessly deleted scientific consensus data fro multiple WP:RS sources o 3 different articles, just so he could write "may snake is so venomous. He knows he is lying. i have written a detailed and easy to understand explanation with many citations on the talk page of those articles, He is basing his data on one book that an expert has mentioned why it is wrong, and all other sources including peer reviewed ones all give the same data/numbers i have added to the article. I am quite at a loss here. The editor feels he owns those wikipedia articles.79.176.152.55 (talk) 05:34, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I usually have an opinion, but in this case I don't, and act as a "true administrator". Edit warring must stop no matter who is "right". Please try other

dispute resolution routes. Materialscientist (talk) 05:44, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is, the Black mamba article lists all the LD50 values:
"Ernst and Zug et al. 1996 listed a value of 0.05 mg/kg for subcutaneous injection (diluent used was 0.1% bovine albumin serum).[52] One study showed the intraperitoneal injection LD50 in mice was very toxic: 0.01 mg/kg (0.1 bovine albumin serum). In the study, seizure threshold was significantly lowered and the mice went through convulsions. Significant changes in motor activity were observed and there were changes in structure or function of salivary glands.[77] Using 0.1 saline as a diluent, the Australian Venom and Toxin database listed a value of 0.32 mg/kg SC,[78] while Spawls & Branch and Minton & Minton both listed the SC LD50 at 0.28 mg/kg (saline)[18][79] and Brown lists a murine value of 0.12 mg/kg (saline) SC.[80]"
That's directly from the article, so I do not understand his dispute. He is being a troll. Other admins have attempted to block him in the past. He's a vandal and a troll, not to mention a plagiarist. Just ask admin Diannaa. Not to sound haughty or arrogant, but he seems to be a total amateur. I actually have university level education in herpetology, with a focus on ophiology. He continues to insist that we put up a "list of top 10 venomous snakes", which is totally unencyclopedic. That kind of stuff belongs in a childrens book, not on Wikipedia. Venom toxicity/lethality varies tremendously among single species based on all sorts of factors - diet, geographical location, age-dependent, gender-dependent, and the list can go on and on. I am tired of having to deal with someone who clearly has no respect or regard for any of Wikipedia policies or guidelines. He's a troll, a vandal and an obsessed amateur snake expert wannabe. --Dendro†NajaTalk to me! 05:59, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Now he's vandalising my userpage with a different IP look at this diff. This is why admin Diannaa had trouble blocking him. He switches IP's. --Dendro†NajaTalk to me! 06:04, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dendro†NajaTalk to me! has been directly caught fabricating scientific data. He made up this attribute to this number "Ernst and Zug et al. 1996 listed a value of 0.05 mg/kg for subcutaneous injection (diluent used was 0.1% bovine albumin serum)." i have found the quote directly from the book in which they specifically contradict that assertion regarding their data. I have presented 5 WP:RS that specifically quote Subcutaneous injection. In herpetology comparing of snake venom strength is done comparing Subcutaneous bite (most applicable to real bite). The editor has fraudulently attributed 0.05mg/kg in order to make his favorite snake seem more venomous by a huge magnitude. He knows most editors will have difficulty confirming his data, since he cites books, and thus he is gaming the system to get the article locked etc. even his quoted paragraph here is not the one in the article see what he wrote in the second paragraph of Black_mamba#Venom.2C_envenomation_and_antivenom (same ip editor)79.178.6.4 (talk) 15:14, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation join the new Physiology Wikiproject!

Physiology gives us an understanding of how and why things in the field of medicine happen. Together, let us jumpstart the project and get it going. Our energy is all it needs.

Based on the long felt gap for categorization and improvization of WP:MED articles relating to the field of physiology, the new WikiProject Physiology has been created. WikiProject Physiology is still in its infancy and needs your help. On behalf of a group of editors striving to improve the quality of physiology articles here on Wikipedia, I would like to invite you to come on board and participate in the betterment of physiology related articles. Help us to jumpstart this WikiProject.

  • Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • You can tag the talk pages of relevant articles with {{WikiProject Physiology|class=|importance=}} with your assessment of the article class and importance alongwith. Please note that WP:Physiology, WP:Physio, WP:Phy can be used interchangeably.
  • You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing physiology articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
  • We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
  • Why not try and strive to create a good article! Physiology related articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!
  • Your contributions to the WikiProject page, related categories and templates is also welcome.
  • To invite other editors to this WikiProject, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • To welcome editors of physiology articles, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • You can feel free to contact us on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. You can also put your suggestions there and discuss the scope of participation.

Hoping for your cooperation! DiptanshuTalk 12:18, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan Fluent Form aka Flu has distributed CD's via Obese Records on top of being a manager of their Frankston Store which is mentioned on their page. He is also mentioned on other Wiki pages eg; one be lo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Be_Lo_discography and thought it would be the easiest way to add a link to his bio. I don't particularly understand how to add new pages etc as it seems too complicated for me but surely if he is already mentioned on existing approved pages a link can be accommodate quite easily...not only as a point of reference and fact but also clarification on this artist as well. Please advise thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thewaspwoman (talkcontribs) 04:22, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Doon Express - Good faith edit

Hi there,

I had noticed that you recently undid an addition to the article Doon Express. I do not entirely agree with your action as the train has actually derailed & several newspaper reports exist to verify it but do recognize that the addition should have been made under the accidents heading section. Can i undo your edit??

Please fix that yourself during your planned revamping. I could not see the whole article in the Stiki screen, which might explain why I reverted, but I don't see any sense in reinstating that misplaced and unsourced sentence as is. Materialscientist (talk) 08:15, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Obese Records

Hi there! I just noticed your reversion with the following reason in the edit summary: "identified as test/vandalism using STiki". The reverted edit by Thewaspwoman merely added "Ryan Fluent Form Stewart aka Flu" to the list of staff. Unsourced as the addition is, it might have been tagged as needing a citation or perhaps summarily removed under the Biographies of living persons policy, but to mark it as "vandalism" (rather than a "good-faith revert") and saying "it did not appear constructive" seems harsh. Could you perhaps reconsider this? sroc 💬 11:54, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock on hold

Hello, Materialscientist. I have placed an unblock request on hold for a block you made. (See User talk:66.249.85.33.) In addition to the concerns raised by an IP editor on that page, I have looked at every edit from that IP address since March 20, and a sample of edits spread over the period from the beginning of this year until then, and I found that the substantial majority of edits were constructive, with only a fairly small minority of edits that were vandalism or in other ways unhelpful. What do you think about the suggestion of an unblock? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:31, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Ed's comment on their talk and decide for yourself - this issue is more of a tolerable vandalism threshold than of an open proxy, and in this particular case registering an account for affected users is very much easier than for a regular static anonblocked IP. Materialscientist (talk) 21:43, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've declined the unblock request, and replaced the block log reason with {{blocked proxy}}: Google caching proxy. Perhaps not perfect, but maybe a bit better. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 06:26, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Say what??

Hi Materialscientist. I just received a notice from you that you undid an edit I had made to the "List of generic and genericized trademarks" because "it did not appear constructive". You then suggested that I "experiment" in the "sand box".

My edit consisted of adding "Crazy Glue" to the list of genericized trademarks. "Crazy Glue" is a very commonly used term in the United States for ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesives. "Krazy Glue," is a trademark of "Krazy Glue, Inc.", registered in 1973:

http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4806:90nhor.2.7

It has, however, been used as a common generic for these adhesives for at least 20 years.

This was not an "experiment"; I added the entry to the chart because it was appropriate for the subject, and currently missing from the chart. I fail to see how this was "not constructive".

If you didn't like something about my addition you are more than welcome to fix it, but to simply delete it seems, to me, "not constructive". Please put it back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.249 (talk) 20:05, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1. You reported 117.196.164.144, not 117.217.235.227.
2. Note that both edited for a few minutes, hours ago, i.e. have no past history. Such IPs are called stale in the admins jargon.
3. Note how widely did this editor hop. This is a feature of some internet providers, like 117.x (where x is late 100s or early 200s). We can't rangeblock such huge ranges. I know that this 117.x range is problematic (due to incompetence mostly, your vandal is a drop in the ocean), and rangeblock what I can, but the collateral damage is always a factor there.
