Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Disruptive editing over the past 24 hours, IP/new account adding unsourced claims which have been reverted multiple times. Flickerd (talk) 05:18, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of 4 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. El_C 05:34, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism and disruptive editing, the band's genre and musical style in particular. **XZ** (talk) 05:35, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of 10 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. El_C 05:43, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite move protection: Highly visible page – Documentation subpage of move-protected template. Luis150902 (talk | contribs) 06:36, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Already Template protected indefinitely. Were you asking for full move protection? El_C 07:58, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Yes. It's full move protection. Luis150902 (talk | contribs) 13:10, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Few days will do. Article is victim of company advertising by hijacking the restaurant-article. The Banner talk 11:48, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedWarn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. Has stopped for now after being warned. Lectonar (talk) 12:36, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Linguisttalk|contribs 11:58, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Lectonar (talk) 12:32, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – 82.132.221.173 (talk · contribs) has been blocked as a sock (MariaJaydHicky). Ip addreses in the 82.132 range have recently been on article, as well as other UK IP addresses - all making the same edits. . Kellymoat (talk) 12:33, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Google has featured it as a doodle, excepting a lot of vandalism for the next day. —JJBers 12:56, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing - Disruptively edited over the past 48 hours by one user, who in that time has made 40+ edits, including adding unsourced claims which have been previously reverted multiple times. Stellaseeker (talk) 14:25, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. El_C 15:28, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP-hopping anon continues to genre war. I can't see that an article for a defunct band will need updating for the next few weeks so protection for four weeks would not be inappropriate. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:26, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 4 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. El_C 15:26, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Permanent semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Information is persistently removed under the subheading "Controversy". Today an IP user removed secondary source information under the subheading "Controversy". The IP address was geolocated to Yonsei University, thus, the modification was made by a Conflict of Interest user. UIC is part of Yonsei University. Kailliak (talk) 14:28, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. El_C 15:25, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism - Article has been persistently edited over the years to delete controversial information. Recently a reliable source released an investigative report on Vallyon's conviction, which has been added to the subjects Biography. The additions are reverted by anonymous users. marley_1f (talk) 14:36, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reduction in protection level: From extended confirmed protection to pending changes protection. It helps to review the edits with article still being protected. Edit requests are not responding productively. 117.246.221.209 (talk) 14:35, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Edit frequency was too high to allow pending changes to be effective. Lectonar (talk) 15:35, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection: This page can be managed through the usual short-term page protections - pending changes appears, at this time, to be unneeded. Garchy (talk) 16:33, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
