BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 04:54, 8 December 2009 (UTC) I'm joining this wikiproject because I do have an interest in Christianity (especially Bible-related and historical topics), and am practicing the religion, even though I have some areas to work on. By the way, I'm also joining this project to broaden my horizons somewhat, because so far, the only wikiprojects I have joined are music-related ones (including Wikipedia:WikiProject Christian metal). I'll warn you, as of December 7, 2009, I am more fluent with the guidelines of the music articles than I am of the religious article guidelines. I'll oftentimes edit certain Christianity-related music articles, along with an occasional Bible-related or historical Christian article.[reply]

Introductions

My name is Emily Alldritt, and I'm currently studying theology at the University of Cambridge. As such this gives me access to a wide range of books related to Christianity, so if you need references, let me know and I can try and help. I'm interested mainly in theological controversies and the development of doctrine. Emilymadcat (talk) 13:45, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My name is Joe Ortiz, author of three books on theology, and a former radio/TV talk show host, news reporter and newspaper columnist in the highly competitive media market of Los Angeles. I have the distinction of being the first Mexican American in US history to conduct a talk show on an English-language, commercial radio station. I began my broadcasting career in 1971 at KABC TALK RADIO 790 AM went on to become an award-winning broadcaster for over 20 years.

Raised and educated through the religious principles of Catholicism, I drifted away from the Catholic Church in my late teens and instead became involved in civil rights, politics and other human endeavors. On January 5, 1975, after many years of living a hectic jet set lifestyle, I turned my life over to Jesus Christ and began attending services at various Assemblies of God churches in Southern California. After much Bible studies and growing in the Lord, on August 29, 1979, I formed what is now called God’s Broadcaster Ministries, Inc. From 1979 to 1986, I traveled throughout the country evangelizing the Gospel and lecturing from my first book, Saved, What Do You Mean Saved?

Fascinated by prophecy and end time’s topics, and his journalistic penchant for delving into the true meaning of words found in the Bible, I began an extensive study of prophecy and eschatology, using various Greek and Hebrew dictionaries and concordances to provide me greater clarity as to what biblical words truly meant. As I continued studying the Bible, he began to notice inconsistencies in the prevailing pre-tribulation “Rapture” theory the Assemblies of God Church professed. Not wanting to offend his pastors or teachers at the churches I attended, I took a leave from his local church and his broadcasting activities to begin writing The End Times Passover in 1984.

In 2006, after 20 years of research and writing, I self published my original manuscript into two books with Author House Publishers in Indiana, with the title "The End Times Passover [Etymological Challenges to Millenarian Doctrines] and Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation [The Sequel to The End Times Passover].

Throughout my researching and writing of The End Times Passover, I also operated my own public relations company, Joe Ortiz & Associates, where I developed and implemented publicity services for numerous clients, including special events and fund raising campaigns that featured many celebrities and sports personalities, including Milton Berle, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rita Moreno, George Lopez, Vincent Bugliosi, Edward James Olmos, Pia Zadora, Freddy Fender, Sha Na Na, Paul Rodriguez, Boy George, Ricardo Montalban, as well as sports celebrities such as LA Dodgers Manny Mota and NFL Football legends Jim Plunkett and Tom Flores. I provided public relations services to numerous community organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Manny Mota International Youth Foundation, Hollenbeck Youth Center, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Salesian Boys and Girls Club. He also managed the press relations for many elected officials including California State Senator Diane Watson (now a member of the US Congress), former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley (now deceased), and Los Angeles City Councilmen Richard Alatorre, Robert Farrell and John Ferraro (also deceased.)

Prior to forming my company in 1988, I worked at various social service and public relations positions including Job Agent for the California State Employment Development Department; Parole Officer for the State of California; public information specialist for the Greater Los Angeles Community Action Agency; teacher/counselor at the Los Angeles Unified School District's Skills Center Program; Director of Employer Relations at South Bay College and as the National Director of Corporate Development for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

A 20-year veteran news reporter and talk show host, I began hosting shows on KABC-AM 79 in 1971. I also conducted radio and television talk shows at KLOS-FM (72-73); KCBS (then KNXT) Television (72-74); KPFK-FM Radio (where I was the Chief News Reporter from 75-76) and the "Prime Time With Joe Ortiz" show, which aired on KPPC-AM in Pasadena (85-86) and KPZE-AM in Anaheim (88-89). I also starred in a 6-9 a.m., weekday, drive time show (Mornings with Joe & Cris) with comedian Cris Franco at KPZE-AM Radio in 1989. My last stint on radio was in 1992 as a substitute host for Dennis Prager on KABC TALK Radio during the Persian Gulf War. In 1976, I received a Golden Mike Award for news reporting while at KPFK-FM Radio and the Angel Award for Best Talk Show Host in 1973 while hosting the shows The Siesta Is Over and Bienvenidos at KCBS Television in Los Angeles. In the November, 1989 issue of Hispanic Business, I was named to that national magazine's 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the US for his broadcasting excellence.

Educated at the University of California at Riverside and UCLA, I hold California State credentials authorizing me to teach Public Relations, Public Affairs Broadcasting, Human Relations in Business, and Personnel Training and Related Occupations. I have taught at Riverside City College and both Los Angeles and Riverside Unified School Districts. In June 2000, I returned to his hometown of Indio, California and managed a family emergency homeless shelter in Palm Springs for three years.

Now semi-retired due to physical injuries, I live with my wife Martha, a Registered Nurse at a major southland hospital, and devote much of his spare time to more extensive Bible research, as well as managing several blogs and web sites, and provide public relations consultation services to various nonprofit groups dedicated to unwed mothers, the homeless and youth services.

Canihaveacookie (Talk) - Feb. 29, 2008; My specific interest in being a member of the WikiProject Christianity concerns any group that collectively - or individual who personally - confesses the sinner's need (Romans 3:23) for the Christian salvation message, by faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9), in Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross (Gospel of St. John 19:30), alone (Galatians 2:21), which is free for the asking by anyone, anywhere, at anytime (Gospel of St. John 1:12), and is for all people of all time (Hebrews 10:12), with the firm conviction (Hebrews 11:1) that this Jesus willingly died on the cross for our sins, that He was buried and that He rose again from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)(Gospel of St. John 10:11,15), to one day personally come back in the flesh (Acts 1:9-11) for His own (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), and to judge the world (Revelation 20:12-15) for its' blatant indifference toward Him (Psalms 1:1,4-6). 20:59, June 15, 2008 (UTC - 6) The time is short.

Robert of Ramsor (talk)(contribs) 3 March 2008. I would be interested in a new WikiProject on Methodism as a sub-project of Christianity. I have Methodist ancestry and run a web site (Rewlach) for Methodist history in North Staffordshire and surroundings. The books archive has been referenced by others before I got to Wikipedia. I have also a London External BD degree, and pastored a Baptist church for a while. My background is engineering, which is a useful discipline because of the approach of going back to primary data on which to base any project. This relates to the Wikipedia basis of quoting sources. I have created several new articles (Ramsor so that people know where it is, Methodist Union, Weaver Hills, H B Kendall who is the essential source for Primitive Methodist history yet not referenced on Wikipedia before I joined.) in recent days. Perhaps a WikiProject on Arminianism could be included in Methodism, although there is Calvinistic Methodism.

I am an Australian Mennonite and I want to contribute because of the over representation of the AAANZ in the articles. Where are the articles about the other anabaptist groups that are in australia?

MWTallman (Talk) - April 2008 - I have joined this group because of my interest in topics on Christianity. My background is Wesleyan/Arminian and have contributed to various topics on Wikipedia within these areas.

Carl.bunderson I was invited by Tinu, so I'm taking him up on the offer. I'm not super active in the wikiprojects I am in already, so if you want something done, it is probly best to contact me directly on my talk page. I'm a Catholic, and have a decent sized personal library, and access to JSTOR if it is needed for sources. Carl.bunderson (talk) 05:39, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Npnunda Hello. I plan on checking the recent changes from time to time. I also do this on the Lutheran Project. Regards --Npnunda (talk) 23:32, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pbhj (talk) 17:00, 7 July 2008 (UTC) - July 2008 - My current interests are missions in Shanxi in the 1880-1901 period (ie upto and just after the Boxer Rebellion. I'm particularly looking at Sheo Yang Mission and it's relationship with CIM and BMS and any other societies in Taiyuan in that period. I'm trawling all the free online books (GoogleBooks, Archive.org, the excellent BU DSpace, Dust & Ashes) with mention of Taiyuan to get information about the founding of the Sheo Yang Mission. Books I'm looking for are "History of the Baptist Missionary Society 1792-1992" by Dr Brian Stanley and "Assault on the Nine" by A.J. Broomhall but these are both modern works so I doubt I can find the information I'm after (if you have them and are willing to scan a page or two for more, let me know!). David Bailey I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I've studied many religious beliefs and am interested in helping contribute to articles relating to religion and religious beliefs. I am also interested in ensuring balance in social articles in which some editors strive to squeeze out a Christian perspective. DavidBailey (talk) 10:53, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Covinben (Talk) Hi, I'm Benjamin. I've joined the Christianity project because of a strong interest in promoting a careful look at the Christian articles here with as little emotional bias as possible. Without question I firmly accept the emotional quality of being a Christian, but I think that it is also reasonable and rational, and should be approached as such in the encyclopedic arena. I've spent so much time reading the New Testament pages for each letter, and I can hardly believe how limited the exegetical material is in that section. With so many aspects of the reading left out, it concerns me that much of the context and cotext is being overlooked for the sake of trying to make a biased theological point. Just hoping to see if I can help in some way. Covinben (talk) 15:43, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cuine100 (talk) 06:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC) I'm a nondenominational liberal Christian. I want to help anywhere I can, so just leave a note on my talk page if I'm needed any where in the project.[reply]

Dcollins52Tell me what you think 18:31, 17 December 2008 (UTC) I am a Baptist, and I like to look up stuff, and minus the nondenominatiol part of Cuine100's message, what he said lol. Cheers[reply]

Hi, I'm Lloyd, I am primarily interested in the legal aspects of the trial of Jesus of Nazareth, with a wider interest in Roman law and concepts of Roman justice administrated by Roman Govenors in Roman provinces. I suppose if you want to label me I am a legal historian but my heart seeks truth. I am interested in the questions which the trial gives rise to whilst being aware of the extremely complex context in which it took place. I hold a qualifying degree in English law but am academically a student of all law. In a spiritual sense I was a sinner, that is an enemy of the Almighty, but I now confess with my my mouth that Jesus is LORD and believe G_D raised him from the dead, and my hope is in him. If I can be helpful in other areas then I am available.--Lloyd Eaton (talk) 15:07, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sarum Blue (talk) Hello, I am an Episcopalian and am glad to help however you need as best I can if you'll leave me a note on my talk page. I have access to all things Episcopal so if you should need photos or explanation, I'm glad to help. There is some overlap with things that are Catholic, so I'll do my best there as well if asked. I'll try other projects and am glad to research into areas outside my normal territory if needed. —Preceding undated comment was added at 01:41, 17 January 2009 (UTC).

Jaden1138 (talk) 15:42, 16 July 2009 (UTC) Hello all! I joined today because I am a proud Evangelical Christian, raised in a Catholic school but in a Baptist Church. My father and his family are Catholic and my mother and her family are Baptist. My mom recently became a Catholic in order to marry my father in the Catholic Church. My sister and I both became Non-Denominational with Baptist tendencies. LOL! I want to help here in any way I can. I make graphic designs like icons and banners, and I am in the process of creating my online portfolio. I want to do this for a living. I also love to help bring people to Christ. I love being used by God to help others. I have been through many things in my life and perhaps I can explain that when I create my page. I must learn this strange Wiki language first. I know HTML, BBCode, a lot of Spanish, I am even learning Swedish from two friends, but this is new! If there is any way I can help, ask. I graduated with honors in English from my high school and am capable of making error corrections in spelling and grammar. (Let me get out my red pen.) I was also a preschool teacher so watch out! (Insert maniacal laugh.) Thanks for reading all this! And God bless you all and this project! (I am in prayer for Noghiri's keyboard...Noghiri, are you a Star Wars fan? Noghiri is awfully close to "Noghri.")[reply]

L☺g☺maniac chat? 22:11, 28 August 2009 (UTC) Hi! I am a 13-yo Preacher's Kid. I was raised in a Congregational church, however now am in a Baptist church (and honestly it doesn't really make any difference to me) while my Dad is on sabbatical. He was raised in the Baptist church and is looking into that field. Areas of interest: Well, I'm Not really interested in editing Wikipedia at the moment - more into sister project Wiktionary. If I do edit Wikipedia it will probably be more in the fixing typos/cleanup type of work - probably more in the genre of Christian pages. I don't have very much time to edit, as most of my day is taken up with school (at home, thank goodness!) and studying spelling (I got 42nd in the Scripps NSB last year; hoping to get into the ABC finals this year...). However if there are any small, short projects that no one has done yet please let me know. :D And let us all offer up prayers for Noghiri's keyboard :) ... Stephenbnagy (talk) 15:40, 24 December 2009 (UTC) A typical university experience lead me to a hard-core atheist worldview. I was never a Hitchensesque antagonist but always keenly studied as much as I was able about major world religions. I became extremely interested and well versed in Buddhism, principally Tibetan. I remained atheist until my late 30's when a series of materially (and medically) inexplicable experiences impelled me ineluctably to Christ. Although I'd read the Bible previously in the past near-decade since my reconversion I have each and every day voraciously read scripture. I am by far most fond of the Gospels (John's foremost!), Revelation, Pentateuch, Minor Prophets and Major (in roughly that order.) My interests include (general, biblical and systematic) theology, the Apostolic Fathers and early Christian history and ecumenism in general to name a few. I would be very interested in learning if there were any way that I could contribute.Stephenbnagy (talk) 15:02, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Entner 14:28, 20 March 2010 (UTC) I am a recent convert to Roman Catholicism and presently pursuing a Master degree in Pastoral Theology. My greatest interest is those articles that have purged (or ignored) Christian elements. One of the first articles I edited was the one on the YMCA which had purged all Christian references and had in fact called its relationship with Christianity an anachronism.[reply]
