Shortcuts

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Center of Government

The page "Center of Government" was deleted because it was argued that it duplicated the page "Government". As the many references included in the page showed, this is a separate concept, as it refers to a separate "thing" (not the government in general, but only those institutions that provide direct support to the Chief Executive -i.e., Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of the Presidency, etc.). There is a bunch of academic literature on this topic (cited in the deleted page), and many international organizations (OECD, World Bank, IADB, etc.) have projects about it (they were also linked in the page). The page had almost 20 external sources about this topic, so I'm not sure what additional sources could be included to show that "Center of Government" and "Government" are, in fact, different things. Moreover, the content of the page was completely different than for Government. Mistakenly I recreated the page, leading to another deletion; please excuse this, and thanks in advance for reviewing this request. -DrinkTheKoolAid (talk) 19:03, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Article is about a commercial software product and we are researching to add some references from valid sources, I would like to be given the opportunity to review the entry I wrote to make it comply to the wikipedia guidelines. the articles we have as reference are in korean as the product is developed in South Korea. I believe that aside from the current lack of references the article is similar to ORACLE DATABASE in style - why has this not been deleted?

I would like the opportunity for open discussion of this issue, with a view to rewriting the article which was intended for information purposes.

Not done. First, who is "we"?
Articles exist on Wikipedia because they are encyclopedically relevent, not "for information purposes". Use your own company website, or Facebook, for that. Furthermore, you did not create the article "for information purposes". With phrases like "has been chosen as the replacement IT infrastructure for many leading companies", the intent was clearly promotional, and Wikipedia is never to be used for promotion or publicity. The fact that the style of the article may be similar to another has no bearing on anything. Each article stands or falls on its own merits regardless of what else might exist.
Because you apparently have a conflict of interest, please read the guideline WP:COI carefully. Your best approach to submitting an article where you have a conflict of interest is to use Wikipedia:Articles for creation where your article can be reviewed by a neutral independent party, to give you feedback on the path to acceptance of the article. ~Amatulić (talk) 01:09, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - Thanks for your reply. "We" means the people who made edits on the page - (Although that may have been another other page. I understand - "has been chosen as the replacement IT infrastructure for many leading companies" - was from company promotional material - which was referenced, it was a quote but not referenced correctly. I would at least like an opportunity to save the code in a separate document and try to fix it again at a later date if I'm not able to get it fixed correctly immediately. I believe I'm close with it, but haven't been able to get it right yet. I know I can't save it on here indefinitely, so I'd love to copy and paste it into a document so I don't lose all of the work I had put into it. If that won't work, I understand. Not done. @Singhir: Hi Rahul. This cannot be undeleted. It was a blatant copyright violation of multiple different sources. When you were working on it you copied entire passages of text from various sites like this one and pasted them into the article as its content. I see that you cited the sources you cadged the text from, which indicates to me that you were unaware you could not do this. Please understand that we cite source to show where we get information from, not the words used, which must be your own (except for limited quotations, marked as quotations by the use of quotation marks). Not done. How can we possibly know that? And even if we did it would be useless. It should be self-evident why we cannot use an anonymous assertion of authority over copyright. But you also have to understand that what we need is not permission of the copyright owner to use their material here, but a release by them to the world of the copyright under a suitable free copyright license. The procedures for a verifiable release of content are explained to an extent at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. However, you should also understand that much of this copyrighted material is not written in a manner suitable for an encyclopedia article and even if release was properly obtained, would have to be substantially cut back and rewritten, and reliable sources found and cited to support it (if such sources exist).--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:33, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The deletion of the articles for creation draft had nothing to do with controversy or formatting. It's just that we don't keep draft articles indefinitely because the only target of having them is that they will make it into the encyclopedia mainspace and six months is deemed long enough; in my view more than "adequate time to be created". However, we also undelete them if someone is indicating they are willing to work on the draft further to address the reason moving it into the mainspace was declined. I take this thread as just such a request and so will undelete now. Done. If it gets deleted again, in six months (or less) undeletion will be less likely. How Far Our Bodies Go

I don't think the page for the album "How Far Our Bodies Go" by Fake Problems met the criteria for deletion. The reason given was "No assertion of importance/significance". The following articles provide evidence that this album did have importance within it's genre:


Can this article be restored with it's original content? I came to this page looking for the track list, year, and album art. Not done. Hello. It did meet the A7 criterion because it did not indicate importance or significance. Note that I did not say (and the criterion does not speak to) whether a subject is important or significant. The speedy deletion criteria as a rule do not address the merits of a topic, but simply what is written about it. So a page on the most worthy topic in the world may be deleted if it is a copyright violation or the writing is gibberish, or if it does not provide sufficient context to understand what it is about, or if, as here, it says nothing indicating importance or significance. The article had one line saying it was an album by the band, followed by the names of the songs and nothing else. What this also means is that since such deletion does not address the worthiness of the topic to merit an article, an article on the topic with proper content can still be created; this just wasn't it.

But please also be aware that by separate processes, we also examine whether a topic warrants an article and I don't know that this album can meet our inclusion guidelines. See generally WP:NALBUMS, and please note that I don't know that either of the sites you point to above are sufficiently reliable sources to sustain the notability of that prospective article. This page highlights one of the key financial markets in New Zealand. The NZ Dairy Industry makes a significant contribution to the world and New Zealand exports approximately 95% of all dairy commodities produced. I don't see a reason to restore revisions that include an incorrect picture of Bruce Lee. Of the 4 deleted revisions, only one of them contains the picture of Shaolin masters. I can restore that one deleted revision if you like. About the article "Sharaf Qaisar", Which no more exists, despite it being reviewed/revised.

The article Sharaf Qaisar which, I agree, was a re-post. But the deficiencies it consist previously, which indeed were discussed in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sharaf Qaisar too, were completely removed. These made the article in accordance with proposed guidelines of Wikipedia. Article doesn't had, even an indication, of promotion or advertisement. Still, wiki administration deleted it. I condemn! You need to read the deletion debate more carefully, The heart of it is that the topic did not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements "WP:GNG and WP:MUSICBIO"; that "they lack significant coverage in reliable sources..." It was also noted that there was promotional language. You removed a few sentences (though it still read as promotional) but the real issue is that you added no reliable, independent, secondary sources at all (and the article contained not even one such source). Bernardo Recaman Santos

I have already searched for the author on wikipedia. A page on him exists in 'Spanish Wikipedia', I was only intending to create a english page for him. When already an author's page in another language exists I don't see the problem in deleting his page and most importantly he is an author who has written a lot of books. Marion Sheret

Marion Sheret was the artist, Ettore (Ted) DeGrazia's, wife. The reason this article was originally deleted was because I did not initially add enough information when I began working on her page yesterday. The reason Wikipedia gave me was (A3: Article that has no meaningful substantive content). I had merrily just begun creating it, so it did not have a sufficient amount of information on her page. She was not only a poet and sculptor, but she also is the main reason Ted DeGrazia was able to build and maintain his Gallery In the Sun, in Tucson, Arizona. I would like to add a short page on her, since she was such an important figure for the museum, and for Ted DeGrazia. Without Marion, Ted DeGrazia's museum and legacy would not be here today. Marion was born 1905 in Albion New York, and died 2002 in Tucson, Arizona. If you have further questions regarding the legitimacy of this page name, please notify me. I believe Marion deserves the right to have her own page name, since she spent her entire life in the shadow of her famous husband- even though she herself was a very talented and dedicated artist. The inclusion criterion is called Wikipedia:Notability and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." For musical performers, there is a guide to what is required at WP:MUSICBIO, and for albums at WP:NALBUMS. If the artist is not notable, it is unlikely that his album is, so I suggest you read WP:Your first article and then, if you can find independent references about INShocks, use Wikipedia:Articles for creation to guide you though the process of making an article.
