you can replace (or rather incorporate) the current content
Hello Philg88. I writing an articles about the german computer pioneer Georg Nees in German [1] and English [2]. This articles are now, maybe, ready. My mentor on de:WP is looking for the last mistakes. I wrote the articel complet new in my one words. I also translated it and some wording in English are different to German. I need nothing to copie from the existing article Georg Nees. I just used the idea about the graphics "Gravel Stones/Schotter" and "Locken'". The name Locken is not used by Nees, somebody invented it years later. The correct name I found via Frieder Nake and in the first book by Nees in 1969. I would like to replace the old article - I think I can nothing from the old article incorporat. I also dit an update of the references and added many more. Beside, some of the old text is not copyright correct.
I am not in a hurry and don't like to do something wrong. My question is: what do I have to do, that all things going correct? Regards- --Maxim Pouska (talk) 18:24, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

- Hello - I am unsure about to do it. I just did look at the article Spillings Hoard, Gotland Museum - to learn more. I don't know all the html code because I just try to learn it in the last three months. If you can do it for me it helps me to learn again. Many thanks --Maxim Pouska (talk) 06:49, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Hello again Maxim Pouska! You have certainly come to the right place for some very good advice, and I agree with Philg88 that the article is very, very good for a newbie article. :) Now just a comment about the code we use here on the WP: It is not strictly html, but rather a code unique to the WP. It takes some time to get used to all the intricacies of I and you don't have to learn it all at once. There is another new editor here who I have taught the beginnings of "code-knowledge" to. If you want to, you can follow the "lessons" and "teachings" that have developed on that user's talk page here. Maybe you can pick up some things there. :) Another very useful page for the code is the Help:Cheatsheet where all the most common code-things are collected, how they are used and what they are called. All the best, w.carter-Talk 18:12, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Museums are dangerous
I went to the Gotland Museum to get some of the last pictures for the article, and I took a stroll... Now, reading about a treasure is one thing, but getting close up and personal with 67 kilos of Viking treasure is something entirely different! :) Lights, camera, action, and a detour to the library as well. I'm mostly astonished that no one had written about it before. So I did, and got my first double DYK. Not 100% sure I got it right, I could only place the template on one of the articles, but I suppose that's the way it is. Anyway, if you have the time and feel so inclined, could you check the Spillings Hoard for me? Best, w.carter-Talk 22:18, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Phil got left out
I know you helped, but only W.carter gets a star. :( On the bright side, I will buy you a real life beer instead. :) Now, I am wondering, which is worth more, a real life beer or a virtual barnstar?? This is a deep question. I would guess 2 beers = 1 barnstar. Hmmm, maybe 2 barnstars = 1 beer. Tricky. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:01, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Anna Frodesiak: In this case it's a no-brainer: According to any equation, we all owe Phil kegs of beer! w.carter-Talk 08:31, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hang on a sec. We do not know how Phil thinks. Maybe to him, 1 star = .5 of a beer. We are talking about real, tangible beer here. You just try watching a movie with a bag of barbecue chips and a barnstar and see how that works out for you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:05, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Being a Brit, I can only trade barnstars on a pint per star basis . Philg88 ♦talk 09:09, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

ANI Closure
I accept your closure and the trouting at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Possible_canvassing, but I want to ask: so it's okay to post on 100s of article talk pages like that? That seems disruptive at the least. EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 16:20, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Samma are the Sindi Rajput descendents of Rajput. Why you have reverted , explain?. Why you are preventing to insert the information.--Jogi don (talk) 10:06, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your somewhat ill-mannered message. You know perfectly well why I reverted your edit. Curenlty he is on vacation so he suggested to contact other admin. So I'm asking for your intervention here, Mar4d is keep on moving page Stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh to Bihari community in Bangladesh, while he is not having any evidence for him. The most common term used for those people is "Stranded Pakistanis" and used by The New York Times(US), BBC(UK), The Guardian(UK), Dawn(Pakistan), Express Tribune(Pakistan), Daily Sun(Bangladesh). These are leading news papers of respective nations. You can see our discussion and sources Talk page, Biharis in Bangladesh . Stadiums
Dear Philg88, I added pages to Wikipedia about large, missing Chinese football stadiums, but I received a warning that they will delete those pages because I didn't add references to those pages. The problem is, I can't add the references they ask for, because then I will get banned. I don't know what to do anymore, some admins demand references, some admins demand I don't use references... What can I do? Worldofstadiums.com is the only site I know with all the information about those Chinese stadiums. Thank you for your response, Groundhopping.
- Hey Groundhopping, thanks for the message. All information on Wikipedia must use references based on reliable sources, which WorldofStadiums isn't. If there are no other sources available then the topic (i.e. stadium) is not notable and shouldn't be in the encyclopedia. Hopefully, that makes it clear but feel free to ask if you're still unsure about this. In a nutshell: No references in reliable sources = No Article. Cheers, Philg88 ♦talk 15:51, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Support request with team editing experiment project
Dear tech ambassadors, instead of spamming the Village Pump of each Wikipedia about my tiny project proposal for researching team editing (see here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Research_team_editing), I have decided to leave to your own discretion if the matter is relevant enough to inform a wider audience already. I would appreciate if you could appraise if the Wikipedia community you are more familiar with could have interest in testing group editing "on their own grounds" and with their own guidance. In a nutshell: it consists in editing pages as a group instead of as an individual. This social experiment might involve redefining some aspects of the workflow we are all used to, with the hope of creating a more friendly and collaborative environment since editing under a group umbrella creates less social exposure than traditional "individual editing". I send you this message also as a proof that the Inspire Campaign is already gearing up. As said I would appreciate of *you* just a comment on the talk page/endorsement of my project noting your general perception about the idea. Nothing else. Your contribution helps to shape the future! (which I hope it will be very bright, with colors, and Wikipedia everywhere) Regards from User:Micru on meta.
- Hmm ... so you chose to spam user talk pages instead? Philg88 ♦talk 14:01, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
Sensitive
I appreciate what you said about sensitivity at/post the thread at WP:AN/I#User:DD2K aka "Dave Dial"'s Deeds at Talk:Hillary Rodham Clinton/April 2015 move request. Indeed I have to raise my hands to say that I have probably been as sensitive as anyone in the run up to the discussion. Since I proposed my failed RM a short time ago (which was ill advised mainly for its short length not fulfilling requirements and not for lack of quality) I know that I may have interpreted more things as being antagonistic than was represented by the reality but, in the run up to the RM, I certainly interpret dirty tricks on the part of some editors and presentation of loaded interpretations by others. I'm personally appalled at the situation and the rigging of results.
I've put my reaction in discussion section of the RM and see no justification for the behaviour. In the AN/I several editors commented on sanctions that should be followed before one editor said that all should be trouted, 5 editors had said that some level of action should be taken without anyone opposing action altogether. In this case, and while I respect that you took a course of action in good faith, I certainly think that it was disruptive and I think it sends out all the wrong signals. It can tell editors that they can falsify findings with little fear of action being taken.
As for me my actual !Vote in the case has been neutral as justified with an I think significant write up on weighing towards the "Hillary Clinton" side. There is nothing tendentious in my comments here. GregKaye 13:47, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Greg, thanks for the message. This isn't about where you stand on the issue or "sending out signals", the close preventing a discussion descending into mayhem and mud slinging, which is not good for Wikipedia. You've stated your case at the RM, as have others, and once the process has run its course, the closing admin will no doubt take into account the behavior and actions of the !voters in deciding the close. Cheers, Philg88 ♦talk 13:58, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- lol May I propose the fish caked in the mud with a healthy application of positive flaming and everything will be fine. The !vote and threads started by DD have not added to clarity but, I guess in situations like this, such is life. GregKaye 14:09, 30 April 2015 (UTC).
Your common.css page
Hi; I notice that in User:Philg88/common.css you have the CSS rule
.ambox-Orphan{display: inherit !important;}
- please note that there is an error in this (almost certainly copied from an old version of Template:Orphan#Visibility) which causes incorrect display in some browsers.
To check this, visit this page and look at the second bullet (the one that precedes the text "This article is an orphan ..."). If this bullet is not in the same alignment as the other four, but displaced to the left, you can fix it by altering inherit
to table
in the CSS rule mentioned earlier. If that doesn't work either, alter it to block
.
Template:Orphan#Visibility has been amended. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:37, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
Request
Well, I appreciate the work you do here. But I really believe that you shouldn't have blocked Premthanjavur (talk · contribs), yes he violated 3-rr but he was not alone to do that, this edit is not a copyvio, BLPvio, or vandalism, thus reverting this edit was not exempted from WP:3RR. I think that you should unblock him and protect the page instead since 2 editors[4][5] did disagreed with him anyway. I have seen that edit warring was accross multiple articles, but it was between these 2 editors at most. Maybe a warning would suffice. Thank you. OccultZone (Talk • Contributions • Log) 09:28, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hi OccultZone and thanks for the message. I blocked Premthanjavur for disruptive editing across multiple articles. Sitush has tried to explain what is problematic about this editor's contributions but the message hasn't got through. I'm not inclined to unblock, particularly as this only has 24 hours to run. Cheers, Philg88 ♦talk 10:30, 4 May 2015 (UTC).
- Yes those edits were disruptive. Only thing we can do is wait for the unblock request, although I doubt since he has never used the talk page before. OccultZone (Talk • Contributions • Log) 10:33, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
- OccultZone, this has been going on for months, if not years. I wasn't aware of the block until the ping above but I am far from being the only person who has tried to explain the situation. There are even warnings from others on their talk page. 24 hours is not long, although I'm not hopeful that it will make much difference because they are in pretty serious SPA mode and they have not just been reverting me. - Sitush (talk) 10:37, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

- Hi there Interference 541 and thanks for the message. While Wikipedia's deletion policy allows for the restoration of speedily deleted articles, it excludes those that have been the subject of a previous Afd discussion. In cases like these, deletion review is required. For what it's worth, having looked at the article it is nothing more than a puff piece for a particular RMM company, which is inadequately sourced. I'd recommend you start from scratch if you want an article on this topic. Best, Philg88 ♦talk 07:05, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Train from Guangdong to Hainan
Hello, my friend. Long time. Could you please tell me what the story is here:[6][7]?
Do we have an article on this? If not, I'd like to start it/them. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:37, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Indeed and I hope all is well with you. There has been a train service from Haikou's (West? Station) to Guangdong for yonks via the sea ferry, which is what I think is shown in the satellite images. I'm not 100% sure though, and you know as well as I do that the government is developing the island at the speed of a bullet train. I don't think that the new bridge will have a railway - just road, so it's not that. Sorry that I can't provide a definitive answer. Best, Philg88 ♦talk 04:45, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- All is well this end. I hope this thread finds you well.
- Yes, I gather the same thing as you. It is the Guangdong-Hainan ferry terminal. A friend confirms this. I am just not sure why there are two sites. My guess is that people and cars get off at the port there, and the train cars come out and arrive a few hundred metres south at that station. There, people get out of the train cars and go wherever. As for the railway itself, I'm not even sure we have an article for that. It doesn't look like the high speed. I've seen it too. It looks like cargo, but I've never seen a train on the tracks. I might just have to head over there tomorrow with a camera and a list of questions, and find out for myself. Best. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:20, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Did you say bridge?? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:28, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, a beast of a bridge across the Qionghai Strait due for completion in 2020 I believe. Now there's an article . We also don't have an article for the Hainan—Guangdong Railway if one is merited. Philg88 ♦talk 05:42, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Is there a source that says they're actually for sure going to do it? Lots of old sources, but nothing new I can see. Also, there is Guangdong–Hainan Ferry, but no railway ariticle. I'd love to write the railway article. I heard it was build by the Japanese and is only used for cargo, but maybe no longer. I'll dig. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:12, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Dunno. I thought they started work a while ago but the project may have stalled as a result of the mainland economic slowdown. I'll try and find a Chinese source but don't hold your breath. Cheers, Philg88 ♦talk 06:20, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

- I've never heard anything but plans and talk. Another stalled project is Nanhai Pearl Artificial Island. After the big typhoon is when I guess it all stopped. Nothing but rusty parts lying around. The bridge footings installed by the temporary rock road. A structure unfinished. Temp worker housing with a few guards and a pack of dogs. Nothing more. The site used to have a guard stopping people from entering at the west side of Evergreen Park. No more. Now one is free to walk down there. Fishermen (catching nothing of course) here and there along the temp stone road. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:43, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Odd. When I search this, the Chinese name for this island off Evergreen Park, it seems to show the round island under construction off the new and enormous [[Hainan Exhibition & Convention Center]. I will take photos of that soon and start that article. There is yet another artificial island near that. Not sure what that is about. Oh, and there is an oil rig or two several km out to sea north of Evergreen too. I guess they're drilling there. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:46, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Approx location of circular island. You'll have to use google maps to see it.

Follow-up
Okay, here is what I found out: [9] [10] [11]
So, we have articles on everything but the South Port, as it is officially called. But, I guess we don't need one, as the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry only has two ports, and the South Port is only used (as far as I know) for that ferry service.
I hope what I've added to those three articles makes sense. I have 68 images in the process of being uploaded. Do you think the railway station passenger notices are copyvios?
Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:25, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
And a couple more tidbits:
Lousy writing, but true! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:45, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I fixed it to make more sense. I got a bit fried in the sun today, and haven't been quite right in the head since. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:50, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- My my, you have been busy. There should be no copyvio issue with the notices as they are text without any attached intellectual property. For the sunstroke I recommend a large dose of Yanjing Beer. Best, Philg88 ♦talk 15:57, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- Busy indeed. Thanks for the copyvio feedback and the beer recommendation. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:03, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
I need your brain
I'm trying to figure out where Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg is. It is obviously an image of inside a ferry showing where the exiting trains go. I just took South Port (Hainan) - 05.JPG which shows the ferry where the train comes out. They do not match. So, it seems that Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg is not an image of South Port. It is also probably not the Guangdong port. However, the logo and colour of the train in Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg matches the South Port engine train that brings the train cars out of the ferry (File:Railway between Haikou Railway Station and South Port - 04.JPG). I'm stumped. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:03, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- Looks to me like Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg was taken looking out of the ferry (hence the title). That also fits with the railway car. Not 100% sure but that's my best educated guess. Philg88 ♦talk
- What is the Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry? A different line, or the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry? As far as I know, the only train one is the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry. Also, all ferries cross the strait, so I still don't get it. Oh, and look a the huge yellow structure in the background. I don't see that on any map. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:45, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry = Guangdong–Hainan Ferry. As for the yellow structure, either the map is out of date or the picture was taken at the Guangdong end. Philg88 ♦talk 05:55, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'd say the photo is out of date. I think this is an image of one of the sides of the strait and how it used to look or where it used to be. Oh well. Sorry to bug you with all of this. I guess it's a dead end. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:03, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, one teensy thing more: The ferry service is called the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry. I see the raiway continue up into Guangdong. So, what's the railway called? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:05, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- No problem with asking as many questions as you like, although there's no guarantee that I know the answers . In Chinese, the railway is called the "Guangdong-Hainan Railway" (粤海铁路, yuè hǎi tiělù). If you have a look at the relevant Chinese article, you will see your mystery picture with the caption "Qiongzhou Strait Guangdong Railway ferry, taken in 2010", which indicates that it is from the Guangdong end. Maybe that article needs its own translation. Philg88 ♦talk 06:35, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, the Guangdong side. Okay. I guess they've moved it somehow.
Final question: Should Guangdong–Hainan Ferry be moved to Guangdong–Hainan Railway? The commons cat used to be called the latter, but I changed it to match the enwp article. If the article is Guangdong–Hainan Railway, then it could have a section about the ferry and be expanded to include info about where it goes up north in Guangdong, including maybe the northern terminus, wherever that is.
Final final question: The 1km of track between the Haikou Railway Station and South Port, that is part of which railway? Ahhhhhh, this is the sort of deep question that keeps philosophers up at night. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:42, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
- Moving Guangdong–Hainan Ferry to Guangdong–Hainan Railway seems sensible, especially as it can then be Wikidata linked to the Chinese and Japanese versions, ditto the commonscat. As to the 1km of track to the South Port, I would include that in Guangdong–Hainan Railway for want of anywhere more appropriate. Hope that helps! Best, Philg88 ♦talk 06:02, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- All done! Thank you again for your kind patience. If I've done anything daft, or left anything undone, please say. All the best, my dear friend. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:39, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for page protection
Just want to express my appreciation for your protection of Mamasapano clash. The frequency of vandalism and POV pushing was indeed putting some undue stress on editors. Thanks for being proactive in your anti-vandalism efforts! Mamyles (talk) 17:26, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Mamyles: You're welcome. Believe me I know how frustrating it can be ... some people just don't listen. Best, Philg88 ♦talk 17:29, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much Philg88
Comment: Hello Philg88 , first of all I would like to thank you for all the edits done for polishing Kollam based articles and main page. No issues in polishing the pages. I would like to create a wiki Portal for Kollam, like the one about Portal:Chennai. Anyway go ahead... I offer my full support and contributions for your activities.
I would like to get your help to protect our Kollam page, as the page is facing continuous vandalism & unwanted disturbances. So I request you to do the needful to protect our Kollam page.
-- Thanks & regards, Arunvrparavur 9:58, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello my friend and thanks for the message. Creating a portal sounds like a good idea but at this stage, I don't think page protection is needed on Kollam. Like many articles on Indian topics, it attracts lots of new and enthusiastic users who don't realise that they can't just add information. If there is a sudden spate of deliberate vandalism then naturally I will do what is necessary. BTW, I did a quick search on Honey Benjamin and there appears to be sufficient coverage for her to warrant her own article. What do you think? Best, Philg88 ♦talk 11:24, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yes Phil, enough coverage is there for Honey Benjamin as she is the current Mayor of Kollam Corporation. We can start an article for Mrs. Benjamin. Arunvrparavur 12:32, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'll leave that to you if you would like as you also have access to Malayam and other language sources that I can't read! Cheers, Philg88 ♦talk 11:36, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Military on Gotland
On 19 May 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Military on Gotland, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that after a ten-year hiatus, Sweden will reestablish its previously unbroken 200-year military presence on Gotland (unit crest pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Military on Gotland. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

- This time I'm actually innocent. ;) Ceannlann gorm handled this DYK all by himself. Guess he was just as grateful as any of all us "newbies" you have helped along during the years. Being appreciated is a burden you'll have to bear, I'm afraid. w.carter-Talk 07:08, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Lucknow native name
The infobox is allowed to contain two or more native names as it does for many cities such as Lahore, Faizabad, and Moradabad as most cities have more than one spoken and official language. The native language of Lucknow is in fact Urdu, and Urdu is also the official language of Lucknow. "Lucknow has Urdu as its official language while Hindi is another of it's major languages".
