Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Kiran chandani (talk | contribs) at 01:09, 11 September 2015 (Starkillers: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Instructions for special cases

Done - as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored on request. Please edit the page to address the issues raised when it was declined, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia.
I have to say that I do not see any indication that Mr Bisen is notable enough, in Wikipedia's sense, to have an article. Please check out WP:Notability (people). JohnCD (talk) 20:28, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia

I moved a wikiproject and created a new one in its place because the previous one was inactive. I acknowledge that I did that incorrectly but now, the project I created in the old project's place was deleted and the old project was moved back. I have hours of code and frmatting invested and I would like that back. So i would appreciate it if you could restore my version and its three subpages (Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia/Members,Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia/Contests, Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia/Awards) and all of their talk pages into User:Tortle/Sandbox 2 so I can retrieve the code and possibly get it ready for a new name. Thanks -Tortle (talk) 20:52, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I recommend not restoring Tortle's new material until all of the original WikiProject has been restored and associated edits with its temporary renames (from WikiProject Wikipedia to Wikipedia:Defunct WikiProject Wikipedia and then to WikiProject Improving Wikipedia) have been corrected. Tortle's contribution to fixing these edits would be welcome and speed up the process. Liz <font face="Times New Roman" color="#006400"Read! Talk! 23:11, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I will gladly help fix the original wikiproject and revert me edits, in fact, Ill start once I finish writing this but I do not see the benefit on waiting to restore the pages until cleanup of something else is done as that will just get my request buried over here. Thanks Tortle (talk) 23:28, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
All of the reverts are done User:Liz. I would appreciate if you or another admin can review my request. Tortle (talk) 01:17, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Tortle, I'm not sure exactly how to move the old page history, to be honest, since restoring it would just restore it to that specific page. I don't think that there's a way to move specific page histories. I know that RHaworth deleted it and he has more experience with undeletion, so I'm going to tag him and see if he knows how to do it (and can then tell me how to do it as well). I also have to admit that I'm slightly concerned that you're taking on what looks like it'd be a fairly big project, considering that you're a very new user with less than 3,000 edits. This doesn't mean that I won't do it, just more that I'm curious as to why you chose to do something like this as one of your first big projects. Mostly I just kind of want to hear the reason for it and if you have someone helping you with this, preferably someone who is used to creating new WikiProjects. Jusdafax looks like he'd be down for the task, as does several of the people at the WikiProject Council. Making a new WikiProject is a huge, HUGE effort and I'd greatly prefer that you at least have a mentor on call for this. Again, not saying no and the major issue here is just that I'm not sure how to (or if we can) move a deleted edit history or if we just have to cut/paste the content, but I would feel better knowing that you have someone to help you with the overall details. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:03, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I was on Wikipedia some years back and I gained a lot of experience back then but honestly have lost some of it. I already set up the wikiproject page and I definetely do plan on getting some good members on board to help things along and give some good suggestions. And anyway, I might wait a while before rebooting it and by then, I would have more expreience. Thanks for responding so quickly and it was nice meeting you Tokyogirl79. Tortle (talk) 07:08, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Tokyogirl79, Im going to be making a lot of changes and starting fresh and mainly need the code. Is there a way for you to view the code and copy and paste it into my sandbox? Or is that not allowed or an issue? Thanks Tortle (talk) 07:15, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Tokyogirl79, I mainly didnt want to add myself into the reviewer section because I wanted a place to explain that I could delete disruptive reviewers from the project but I think I could add myself as a reviewer and say that reviewers can decide to get rid of another with a vote or by consensus. Thanks again, Tortle (talk) 07:33, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • They are in the WP namespace - we don't need to have long discussions agonising over restoration. I have restored all Tortle's edits in the Wikipedia and Wikipedia_talk namespaces. I view service awards such as {{Looshpah IV Userbox}} and barnstars as out of keeping with the "grown-up" serious state that Wikipedia has now reached but if Tokyogirl or Liz (talk · contribs), who did several if not all their deletions, is willing to restore, then I have no objection. Tortle, try and use "show preview" more - the number of edits seem out of proportion to the actual work being done. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:25, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have some concerns with that statement Tortle, Wikipedia is not a democracy. Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide/WikiProject#Inappropriate exclusivity describes why membership statuses and exclusivity are inappropriate. Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide/WikiProject#Control and organization explains the egalitarian more loosely associated nature of WikiProjects: Coordinators cannot be "forced" on an unwilling WikiProject — there must be consensus amongst its membership that the introduction of a coordination system will benefit the project and coordinators are not arbitrators or "leaders" of a WikiProject — all such decisions are still made by community consensus sum it up pretty well. Starting a WikiProject will not give you special status or "powers" within it, and the project will belong to the community.Godsy(TALKCONT) 12:04, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a compilation album by Vader, the so called administrator who deleted the page has a history of deleting valid pages. More info on the album, including album artwork http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Vader/Reborn_in_Chaos/17719 and also on the bands official website here http://www.vader.pl/reborn-e.html Cannot request the administrator to do this because he/she is a troll and has been inactive for years -84.203.56.111 (talk) 00:14, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is going to be a technical Not done because there's really nothing to restore here. The reason it was deleted was because of no context and looking at the content, I can see why it was deleted as such. It was only a list of tracks and no other information about the album. It didn't even come close to being an article and restoring it would pretty much require someone to instantly write a new article from scratch. It'd be much better for you to create a new article yourself. You can do this by going through AfC (if you don't want to sign up for an account) or signing up with an account (or into an account if you already have one) and creating the page. Just make sure that it would pass notability guidelines per WP:NALBUM, as musical albums are not automatically notable because the band that created them is notable. On a side note, I would really like to ask that you assume good faith about other editors. While I'm not familiar with this now inactive admin, this particular deletion does not give off the impression of any abuse, nor does their talk page show any overwhelming evidence of abuse. It's generally considered to be very poor manners to come in here and write something that can very easily be taken as an WP:ADHOMINEM attack against another person. Google X

This page was deleted to make way for an article about an unrelated topic, however, it should be undeleted and should be added a disambiguation tag. (Unsure what exactly) - TheChampionMan1234 01:44, 3 September 2015 (UTC) -- TheChampionMan1234 01:44, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • @TheChampionMan1234: The old article looks like it was deleted at AfD back in 2013, since it closed as a merge to List of Google products#Discontinued products and services. From what I can see, it looks like this is already in the list of discontinued products. There really isn't much to restore and I'm not really certain that we truly need a disambiguation page, to be honest. It looks like we only have two entries with this specific name and the AfD closed with the consensus that while it merited a page somewhere, it didn't really warrant its own entry. While he's not an admin, I do want to ping @Mz7: since he did a non-admin close. The page was redirected and this redirect was deleted by @Timrollpickering:, so I'll ping him as well. Again, I just really don't know that this needs a separate entry outside of where it's already mentioned. Maybe a hatnote at the top of the current article at most. Here's the content of the page:

Google X was a project released by Google Labs on March 15, 2005 and rescinded a day later. It consisted of the traditional Google search bar, but it was made to look like the Dock user interface feature of Apple's Mac OS X operating system.[1] Google did not release any official statement as to why the project was shut down. Although Google X has been taken down, several mirrors still exist. [2]

That's pretty much about it and given that this went through AfD (and there's really not enough to justify a disambiguation page), I'd prefer that we have the OK from the person who closed the AfD. He's not an admin, but I do trust his opinion enough to want his OK on this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:46, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Tokyogirl79, TheChampionMan1234, and Timrollpickering: Thanks for the ping. The consensus at AfD was that the topic was not notable enough for a standalone article, so unless it can be shown that significant new information about the subject has been released or discovered since the AfD closed, that consensus should continue to have merit. As Tokyogirl79 mentions, essentially everything that was contained in the former article has been merged to List of Google products#Discontinued products and services, so creating a standalone article without significant new information would be redundant. I would also agree with Tokyogirl that a disambiguation page is probably unnecessary. There would only be two entries, and Google X (the secret facility) is obviously the primary topic. If disambiguation is absolutely necessary, a hatnote would be preferred.
However, (and this is going to sound like me being a stickler for procedure, but I think it's important), Wikipedia's content licensing requires that all content be attributed to its respective authors. This attribution is usually supplied by the edit history of a page, which lists all the authors' names. When you copy text from one Wikipedia page to another (such as when merging content), certain steps need to be taken—the guideline for this is at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. The bare minimum is a link to the source page in the edit summary at the destination page. But, this only works if the source page's edit history still exists with the names of the authors. When Timrollpickering deleted the redirect at Google X, they also deleted the history of the Google X page, which contained the names of the authors of the merged content. This means that at the moment, the merged content about the discontinued 2005 Google X project at List of Google products is technically a copyright violation.
I think the easiest solution is to undelete the former page as a redirect at Google X (discontinued project) or Google X (project), so that the page history (and the attribution) is preserved. Mz7 (talk) 19:06, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's inclusion criterion, called Wikipedia:Notability, looks for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject", i.e. not just press releases or the project's own material. The test is whether people not connected with it have found it sufficiently interesting or important to write substantial content about it. JohnCD (talk) 13:59, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Smartjon, this is a technical Not done since the article contained content that was fairly promotional in tone, although I am willing to e-mail you a copy of the article. You'd have to take these portions out in order to make it neutral. An example is the phrase "Buymore is at the heart of the social media users and thus it strives to maintain a rapport and communicate events as they unfold directly to its customers via its twitter (@BuymoreCard) and Facebook (BuymoreKenya) platforms." Also, are you involved with the company in any form or fashion? I ask this because normally articles that sound promotional like this are promotional because they're written by someone involved with marketing, the article topic, or were otherwise asked/paid to create the article. You can still edit if this is the case, but you will need to disclose this COI on your userpage by stating that you are a paid editor (or whatever the COI is) and (if you are making non-paid edits along with paid edits) the titles of the articles you were asked to create. You can read more about this at WP:COI. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:02, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Another note: try to only include one official website in the external links section. You had nine links, which comes across as WP:ELSPAM. Typically you should only have the primary official website in the EL section since the official website should have links to their social media accounts - Wikipedia should not be used as a hub for these sites, nor should it contain the social media links for people involved with the company. "Advances in Group Theory and Applications" is a new journal, but its editorial board, which is listed in the journal web page is formed by 13 very well-known mathematicians from several different countries, considered as the best world expert on the field. Their quality can for instance be checked either using the MathSciNet data base of the American Mathematical Society or the Mathematics Genealogy Project. It is reasonable that in the next few years the journal will have a prominent role in the mathematical world. The theory of groups is one of the most relevant topic of algebra (its foundation being due to Evariste Galois in 1831) Thanks for your consideration, Francesco de Giovanni (2006 Honorary degree as Doctor of Science from the National University of Ireland)

If it is deleted then you will have to petition the deleting administrator for the article's return and if they decline, go through WP:REFUND. However that said, right now the best time to try to save the article is in the here and now, so you need to argue for inclusion at the AfD discussion. I'll warn you: it's extremely difficult to argue for inclusion for journals since most times new journals will not gain coverage in RS nor will they tend to be included in notable indexing services unless they're through an extremely reputable organization or company. (IE, places that likely already have notability themselves and are already well established.) I note that this is an open access journal, which usually makes it even more difficult to establish notability, especially if it's newly founded. Hello,

I am a technological cretin and not very competent at constructing new pages. Nonetheless, I have contributed over many years, both whole articles and regular corrections.

I do not play computer games but my attention was drawn to a particularly successful team led by Clement "Puppey" Ivanov which has succeeded in winning over $1.5 million in prize money over the past 18 months. I believe that wikipedia needs to show references to such teams as to any teams or competitors in major sports, written in laymen's terms.

I realise that my original entry was short of references but give me time! I am a busy man and the entry was deleted too soon for me to draw in the necessary additional information and references, some, but not all of which can be found on other wikis.

If this is deleted at AfD this will not be something that could be restored through REFUND. Also, you will need to show that the organization is notable by showing where it has received coverage in independent and reliable sources such as news articles or similar. Just existing as an organization, even an international one, is not something that would show notability in and of itself. Also, please be aware that anyone can edit Wikipedia and while your comments do not explicitly show that you are trying to exert WP:OWNERSHIP of the page, it does somewhat give off that impression. In general Wikipedia discourages people from editing articles that they have a direct conflict of interest with, as it's very, very easy for people to make promotional sounding edits or take deletion or changes a bit too personally. @Medisaid:  Done - as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored on request, so you can recover information from it; but I am afraid that there is no chance this will be accepted for the encyclopedia. important Subject : fraud & politics

@Xb2u7Zjzc32: Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aquarian Family Festival, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Xymmax (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review.

Starkillers

The article seems to have been deleted based on merely a few comments and questioning of source. There's ample evidence of any info that was on the article. The original editors of the article (who I am unaware of) may have gotten a few spellings wrong. This can be easily fixed. No reason to delete an entire article. Its Starkillers true life journey through music. He has had 12 no. 1 beatport records and has been a producer/dj in the music industry for over 15 years. This article was deleted based on not enough credibility to be on Wikipedia? Please rethink this. Its someone's life and career story. If needed, any piece of info in question on the article can be verified by any individuals mentioned directly in the article or any further info required to ensure the info is 100% true. This is unfair to delete a world Renowned artist's life story based on apparently un-sited 1 or 2 pieces of info. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brawlarecords (talkcontribs) 05:47, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

BlackShot

The page "BlackShot" for PC online FPS game of the same title has been deleted in 2011. The game launched in 2008 and is still in service now, with BlackShot Global (for Europe, Brazil, and other parts of the world) and BlackShot SEA (Southeast Asia).

Though it has been through various publishers, the history is a bit of a mess, but during the entire run from 2008 - present it has always been in service and is one of the most popular games in Singapore and Malaysia.

Wikipedia is a place many people look to when searching for definitive information on any subject. Therefore, the absence of a wiki page for BlackShot may deter users from searching further, mistakenly thinking that the game is no longer in service. This could be one of the reasons we are losing potential players, and we hope it can be remedied soon.

Please see the following pages for confirmation that BlackShot is still in service and deserving of a Wiki page of its own:

This is a good example of the promotional tone: "he model works on principle of bringing all stakeholders closer to each other on a virtual platform, thus eliminating wasteful expenditure of time, efforts and money." Also, I notice that your userpage gives off the impression that you're editing on behalf of a group and that your username is the name of a group. @Storkk:  Done but, of course, copying the subject's website is not the way to make an acceptable article. This is promotional in tone and, though I don't doubt the subject's notability, it needs references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources to demonstrate it. I have added {{BLP self-published}} and {{peacock}} maintenance templates. Was there a user account associated with the OTRS message, to which advice could be sent? Category: Welsh-speaking people

Given the centuries of persecution suffered by Welsh-speakers (just read the history - it makes for shocking reading), the fact that the Welsh language still exists as a living language is nothing short of a miracle. Naturally therefore, it is of much interest to those interested in the Welsh language, those interested in Welsh current affairs, those interested in minority languages as well as to many members of the public in general, for it to be acknowledged that certain notable public figures e.g. politicians, sportspeople or musicians have the ability to speak Welsh. Indeed, failing to do so seems to suggest that the Welsh language is of no significance, to anybody. Whilst some may argue that the language that one speaks is not actually significant, this viewpoint is likely to be prevalent in individuals with a limited understanding of minority languages/cultures. Put another way, whilst the fact that a notable person can speak English may not be necessarily of interest - mainly due to the fact that English is the third most widely-spoken language in the world - by contrast, when a notable person who happens also to speak Welsh is not acknowledged as a Welsh speaker this is missing a very important point, simply because Welsh is much less prevalent than English. Yes, defining a cohort of Welsh-speaking people is of interest to many people, even if that does not happen to include the person(s) who instigated the deletion of this category in the first place. Therefore, just as the section 'Notable people with the name Prabhu', or 'Category:Black British people', for example, may not be of interest to a certain individuals, the fact that these Categories/Sections exist confirm the fact that they are of interest to at least some Wikipedia users, and the same is true for 'Category:Welsh-speaking people'. I hope that the majority of Wikipedia users/editors wish to build a more informative and inclusive encyclopaedia, and not an encyclopaedia that projects an Anglo-American bias whereby smaller cultures and languages are dismissed. I therefore call upon those who instigated this deletion to see beyond their possible prejudices, and remain true to Jimmy Wales' Statement of Principles by re-instating this category without further delay please as many useful links have been lost with the current deletion -Haul~cywiki (talk) 23:57, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Save page" button below -Kiran chandani (talk) 01:09, 11 September 2015 (UTC) Hello, I am requesting a refund for this page's draft so some of the editors on Wikipedia can contribute to this page and then send it to AfC to ensure all wikipedia guidelines are met before it can go on the mainspace. As the initial reason for its deletion based on the deletion discussion was lack of references and poor use of language. I have already spoken with the admin who initially deleted this account and upon their guidance I bought this matter up on DRV. However, after discussion with other members of wikipedia, I was suggested to get a refund for a draft of the Starkillers page. This would give editors opportunity to write the page with the appropriate language and use ample references to prove notability of the musician. Please note, this was also a suggestion from the Wikipedia info team that I had emailed recently and they said if the admin who deleted the page is not going to repost the page, then a new page would need to be created following the guidelines of Wikipedia and contributions from various editors. Please let me know if you would like me to provide you with a copy of the email discussion with Info Wikipedia. Thank you! Kiran chandani (talk) 01:09, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
