    Shortcuts

    The Spam-whitelist page is used in conjunction with the Mediawiki SpamBlacklist extension, and lists strings of text that override Meta's blacklist and the local spam-blacklist. Any administrator can edit the spam whitelist. Please post comments to the appropriate section below: Proposed additions (web pages to unblock), Proposed removals (sites to reblock), or Troubleshooting and problems; read the messageboxes at the top of each section for an explanation. See also MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

    Please enter your requests at the bottom of the Proposed additions to Whitelist section and not at the very bottom of the page. Sign your requests with four tildes: ~~~~

    Also in your request, please include the following:

    1. The link that you want whitelisted in the section title, like === example.com/help/index.php === .
    2. The Wikipedia page on which you want to use the link
    3. An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper
    4. If the site you're requesting is listed at /Common requests, please include confirmation that you have read the reason why requests regarding the site are commonly denied and that you still desire to proceed with your request

    Important: You must provide a full link to the specific web page you want to be whitelisted (leave out the http:// from the front; otherwise you will not be able to save your edit to this page). Requests quoting only a domain (i.e. ending in .com or similar with nothing after the / character) are likely to be denied. If you wish to have a site fully unblocked please visit the relevant section of MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

    Note: Do not request links to be whitelisted where you can reasonably suspect that the material you want to link to is in violation of copyright (see WP:LINKVIO). Such requests will likely be summarily rejected.

    There is no automated notification system in place for the results of requests, and you will not be notified when your request has a response.     Please bear with me iif this is imperfectly done; I’m still learning how exactly this works.

    1. Ehow.com in general should be unblocked because it is a technical site; However, in the interim I am specifically requesting ehow.com/info_8143128_difference-between-grapeshot-canister.html be unblocked as it relates to grape shot and the development of chain shot.
    2. Grape and Chain Shot and article referencing them; Currently the MythBusters] talk page is in discussions on the matter. However, I will also be checking both the Grape and Chain Shot pages to see what they show.

They have been featured in SDTimes, Dr. Dobbs, and other software development media and also are well known in the development community.     I feel it would be helpful to whitelist the following page:

    While I can understand that the main web-site could be considered a propaganda site, the specific page shows a scan of a prayer which is being discussed on the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preces_(Opus_Dei)

    An argument has arisen in the discussion on that page about the appropriateness of reproducing the whole prayer on wikipedia, and I feel that providing a link to an external website which displayes it could be a reasonable compromise.

    I'm trying to edit the Wikipedia page for Sedo, and it gave me an error message saying that sedo.com was blocked. This domain is the legitimate home of a company that exists in both the US and Germany and operates internationally. I am trying to cite their website for product descriptions and some press releases the company has issued. All edits are intended to be informational/factual in nature and non-promotional. Please remove this block/blacklist. Thank you!

    I understand that the URLs above link to Sedo's site and may contain promotional language. However, I fully believe that linking here validates the descriptions of how Sedo's products and services work. If these URLs should be left out, then the description of what Sedo does will simply not include citations from Sedo's website.     If I recall correctly, many sites redirect to here, as a form of domain parking. Moreover, I did see some cases where there was inappropriate use (amongst others some work which looks like search engine optimization). I do agree, that Sedo does need a link to the homepage, does sedo.com/index.html (or something similar) work (the about-us is also a good one ..)?     The blacklisting discussion is m:Talk:Spam_blacklist/Archives/2010-12#Sedo.com_-_Sedoparking.com. Indeed, parking and inappropriate pushing of the domain.     Education Update

    This is the website of a reliable publication with meaningful editorial oversight, etc., but it's on the meta blacklist because a year ago somebody was using it to promote Jacob M. Appel. I'd like to add www.educationupdate.com/archives/2006/Feb/html/spot-drhenriford.htm to the whitelist so I can include the link in a citation in Henri Ford.     As a watercolor painting hobbyist, I feel that the hype about kolinski sable paintbrushes should be tempered by a mention that in order to get the hair for these brushes, kolinski weasels are trapped in the forests of Siberia and often die a cruel, slow and painful death. This could be mentioned on several Wikipedia pages such as Watercolor painting, Kolinsky sable-hair brush, or Siberian weasel. But the system won't let me quote PETA, so I'd like to use www.animalethics.org.uk/i-ch8-4-forgottenfur.html as a source to justify the addition, but the website is blacklisted.

    I'm no animal rights nut, but I can't accept teh notion of painting with hair collected by cruel means. There are now extremely good synthetic hairs for paintbrushes, and that could be mentioned in some of the articles as well.

    [Note: relisted because previous request expired without discussion.] I was directed here when I was tried to use the above Wayback Machine link in Keith Lofstrom, an article that seemed to need more third-party reliable sources. The specific problem was with examiner.com, which I now see is mentioned under the Common Requests category. The author of this article, Charles Radley, appears (from the photo) to be same Charles Radley listed here: http://visible.me/charlesradley1958438, and here http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=269275&authType=name&authToken=0WPl&locale=en_US&pvs=pp&trk=ppro_viewmore with personal and professional interests, and geographic location, strongly overlapping the subject of the article. So it's not impossible that there's a personal connection between Radley and Lofstrom. On the other hand, Lofstrom's listed affiliations check out, possibly making him a reasonably reliable source on the subject.     MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist has a section for requesting removal of an entire site from the blacklist. However, for this particular site, given its history of abuse by a long-term serial vandal, the request would be declined. If you are working on the article Harry's Place, as I wrote earlier, the home page http://hurryupharry.org/index.php is already whitelisted, and should be sufficient for an article about the site. I am not necessarily proposing a full unblocking of the website, but I truly think that several articles are very good to cite as reference, specially regarding to Psych and other shows. I don't see this as a problem since cpspichilemu isn't blacklisted; rather, all of *.co.cc is blacklisted.     Specific Examiner article

    I would like to add a specific article on Examiner.com to the white list - www.examiner.com/japanese-culture-in-new-york/a-culturally-stimulating-interview-with-the-insatiable-asa-akira - as I want to use it as a cite on the Asa Akira article. Yes I am an admin and yes I know I can edit the white list... I'm asking for two reasons: 1) I'm nervous about doing a screw-up while adding the link and somehow breaking something, and 2) get a different set of eyes to look at the article to confirm it's reliable (it seems to me).     This would appear to be a great resource for people interested in Topographical Poetry. It would make sense to link from the Topographical Poetry page on Wikipedia. It could also make sense to link from areas with great traditions in the poetry of place - such as the Lake District - to the relevant pages on the site such as: www.poetryatlas.com/search/lake+district.html.     Commercial activity isn't relevant. Spamming behavior is all that matters. This site was blacklisted in November 2010 due to the spamming attempts of two users, see Special:Contributions/Jeffreymjlee and Special:Contributions/Tomthumb1. De-listing the site is unlikely, but we are open to white-listing specific pages for the purpose of using in articles where the link would be relevant and useful. Are you proposing to add a search link to this site to the Lake District article?     • I would like to whitelist the domain name sysoon.com and allow the addition in Zdeněk_Miler for the external link "sysoon"/deceased/zdenek-miler-2244 - I just added the place of death from this website to the wikipedia record of Zdeněk_Miler . I think Sysoon is a valuable source of the information about deceased people and it help to update the records of the deceased people.

Furthermore, if you're running into the problem when you trying to transfer them too commons, that means they are on the global blacklist, not the English wiki's blacklist.     Look for yourself; it's not on our local blacklist, it's on the meta blacklist which covers all mediawiki projects.     Pages that contained a link to a blacklisted site before it was blacklisted would be unaffected until someone tries to edit the page. I endorse OhNoItsJamie's decline of this request. The requester has given no valid rationale for whitelisting. Images on commons are required to be public domain, and there is no reason to link back to somebody's blog for such images.     Generally, photographs of ancient paintings would likely be in the public domain, except if the first reproduction of the painting was in a book that is still under copyright. If you have doubts about the licensing rationale of an image, it can always be proposed for deletion.     I find this morally objectionable. The proper way to cite a website is to provide a link. If material is good enough to take from a website then the website should be properly cited.
    If the website is not to be cited then the material should not be taken.
    In either case Admins should not be encouraging editors to use material and dodge a proper citation.
    OhNoitsJamie's statement (as edited) that "Obviously that site got the images from elsewhere" is a bit glib. Images on Wikipedia are from "elsewhere".
    It seems to me that greatestbattles.iblogger.org has been lumped in with a general blacklisting of iblogger.org.
    If greatestbattles.iblogger.org was assessed by itself would it be blacklisted? Do advertisements automatically mean spam? Are all sites cited in wikipedia ad free?
    If it would not be blacklisted then it should be whitelisted.

    I just checked the last three entries on the above image-list (easiest to scroll from the edit-box) and all three appear to be on commons already and not masked by local copies. I don't see how "cannot transfer" is an issue if they are already transferred. Or even if they were uploaded there directly rather than en and then transferred--I don't see deletion-log entries for them locally at all. Is your google search contaminated by commons images being transparently seen via en.wp? Special:Linksearch finds no en.wp pages that link to that site.     All that I checked are on commons, and not on en.wikipedia. Moreover, this site is not used on en.wikipedia as a link. Moreover, if these files are to be saved on commons, there is no reason to whitelist it here.
    If a file is uploaded here, and the link needs to be used here, then for that specific link we could consider a whitelist entry. But, since these files are free, they should be uploaded on commons, and then this site should be whitelisted on commons (even though that linking to where you find a free file is not necessary, it is good form - note that linking can also be linkless, i.e. without the http:// prefix).

    Infibeam.com should be unblocked because it is a major Indian ecommerce portal, which was blocked few years back on account of spamming. It was a mistake by some former employees and the company would be more responsible in linking its URL only to places which are relevant and would serve the purpose for which Wikipedia works. This is a request not to block the usage of the URL because of mistakes done 2-3 years back and add it to the whitelist. The site now also has a Wikipedia Page which is an effort to inform the readers about the Indian ecommerce market.
