Dog Chow is a name brand of dog food marketed and manufactured by Nestlé Purina PetCare. The brand's dry dog food is offered worldwide, in numerous formulas. For example, there is a Dog Chow product for young dogs, called "Puppy Chow", one for elderly dogs, called "Senior 7+", and a weight maintenance formula called "Light and healthy". Dog Chow was first introduced in 1957, and only took two years to become the leading brand sold in the United States.[1]

The "Chow" brand has been extended to other types of pet food, including Puppy Chow, Cat Chow, and Kitten Chow.

A series of animated cartoons beginning in 1962-63 television season marked the earliest known appearance of puppet character Rowlf the Dog by Jim Henson.
