Why are you trying to rewrite history?

The name "Odisha" has only been in actual use since 2011. Please reconsider and revert any references in dates and history to "Odisha" prior to 2011 back to "Orissa". What you're doing would be like replacing references to "Constantinople" with those to "Istanbul" when we all know that prior to the Great War it was almost always called "Constantinople" in English. Though I personally endorse the view that in historical cases the Odisha should not be used (or used in a very selective way). Even in the first instance I didn't made any changes to the History part of Bhubaneswar and Odisha. However due to Requested Move discussion here at Talk:Historic sites in Odisha, it seemed there was an deemed consensus on the usage of Odisha to historical usage as well. While working on the Cooch Behar State Railway I could not find out what happened to the railway. Was it taken over by Eastern Bengal Railway or Assam Railway? Or was it merged at the time of formation of North East Railway? If you have or get any information on this aspect please add it to the page. Dear Amarty, Thank you for your comments regarding Lascar War Memorial. I would like to share some background the Lascar War Memorial article. It created during during the wiki academy session in Netaji Subhash Engineering College of event at Wikipedia at Avenir. So initially may be there have some contains close paraphrasing. But after re-write and copy-edit by User:Rangan Datta Wiki. You have commented some guiding instruction to him regarding the article . I would request to please consider the Please do not bite the newcomers. I know, you have not done any personal attack to him. But Rangan da feel very upset regarding your comments and Close paraphrasing copyrighting. And he decided to Quitting Wikipedia. He don't know the all about Wikipedia process. It is very socking for me, because I am trying to build strong Wikipedia community in Eastern India. Rangan da is within our mission. He had already done great offline works at Wikipedia Takes Kolkata,Wikipedia Takes Kolkata 2 , WP12 Wikipedia at Avenir, Spring Fest IIT.

I am requesting your please check again your Duplication Detector links. I cant find any unacceptable Close paraphrasing of copyrighting. If possible please remove the tag from article.

This explanation is contrary to the reality. We no more have the post of "Lord Governer general" ! It is abolished the moment India become a republic ! On January 26,1952. The description "commonwealth dominion of Republic of India" republics can't be dominions. We are only a member of Commonwealth realms we are not are dominion. Re your message: Both User:Kate Cruise and User:Janet Winslet fall under the duck test and Materialscientist already blocked and tagged both accounts as such. It is obvious that they are related due to the nature of their edits and their timing on editing the article. Obviously somebody has a grudge against that particular city. Who knows why, but people do strange things around here. The article has been semi-protected again, so I think we're okay for a little while. Thanks for writing back. I fully agree with you we need project on Indian Laws. According to me first we have to know what articles we have already and what articles we are lacking. So, I have created the Portal on Indian laws to track what articles are created or things are improved or improving.

Fisrt task is to properly organise things under controlled way otherwise it will continue to create mess. I have started to provide proper categories to articles, which will help us to know on which categories we are lacking things.

There are many articles on wiki which are available but due to non proper maintaince they are creating mess. So, request you to provide proper category to the articles which will help us to control things.

What I am doing moving each article under proper category and not copying already provided categories which start resolving issues and project would be prepared to do things

In last couple of days, at english language wikisource project, I have worked quite a bit on (Indian) Copyright Act, 1957 to update the same to include changes of copyright amendment act 2012. Please note on most of internet as of now Copyright Act, 1957 may not be uptodate with 2012 amendments, and en wikisource would be one of those few (and also free) places where people can refer the updated document, Provided that it is peer reviewed for accuracy.

I am seeking your kind help in peer review and improvement of this document at en wikisource.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Amartyabag. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Train-the-Trainer 2017: Invitation to participate

Hello Amartyabag,
It gives us great pleasure to inform that the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) 2017 programme organised by CIS-A2K is going to be held from 20-22 February 2017.

What is TTT?
Train the Trainer or TTT is a residential training program. The program attempts to groom leadership skills among the Indian Wikimedia community members. Earlier TTT have been conducted in 2013, 2015 and 2016.

Who should join?

  • Any active Wikimedian contributing to any Indic language Wikimedia project is eligible to apply.
  • An editor must have 500+ edits.
  • Anyone who have already participated in an earlier iteration of TTT, can not apply.
