Can we get some input in resolving an edit dispute?
Hello PeeJay2K3. I am hoping that you can lend some assistance. Me and user GiantSnowman need assistance in resolving an edit dispute concerning the kit section that was in the Nigerian national football team article. He removed it citing WP:NOTGALLERY. I disagree with his interpretation and I have shared my reasons on the talk page at WikiProject Football. We request the input of members of this project in order to resolve this issue. Your assistance would be appreciated if you have the time. Thanks! unak1978 16:24, 29 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited History of Manchester United F.C. (1986–2013), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Penalty kick. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Regarding Danny Welbeck
You're right that honour should be under the Arsenal heading, and I am only running on FA rules logic here, but under FA medal allocation guidelines, a player who plays a certain number of games in a cup is allowed an allocated medal, also considering Welbeck played played both quarter-final and semi-final it is highly likely he got a medal even know he missed the final. Under FA rules he receives an honour of either runners up medal of a winners medal. I am running on flat out logic when I reverted because I don't trust that Davefelmer guy at all, also eurosport has him down as receiving one. Govvy (talk) 08:15, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Danny Welbeck honours
Hi there, you have just reverted my edit on Danny Welbeck. He played in the round of 16, quarter finals and semi finals and was present at the medal award ceremony and trophy presentation. Arsenal were awarded 30 medals and only around 20 players played in the tournament that year. I don't see how you can justify removing the honour? Missing a final does not mean losing the honour. If he had played just one match (the final) would you award it to him? Mountaincirque 12:59, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi there from Portugal once again (this is AlwaysLearning now without an account),
i fail to see why where my edits reverted, because: 1 - the birthplace stuff was just to give more geographic/historic detail, i compressed the "Portuguese" part in the infobox due to spacing reasons, but why you don't allow "Portuguese Angola" to be displayed in storyline i cannot understand; 2 - honours: runner-up stuff IS indeed an honour, several discussions have been held on the matter (although i know your opinion on the matter since years ago, you think second places are not).
Attentively, happy editing --85.242.133.151 (talk) 20:32, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
About number suffixes...
I didn't know about the fact it was supposed to be like that. I have seen the Cristiano Ronaldo talk page and the revision history of Swansea City A.F.C. which you've reverted my edit per MOS. I have found the part where I made the Swansea City A.F.C. mistake by looking at the guide on the MOS page.
I will remove the message on Mattythewhite's talk page since that is not needed.

Sharing an idea on Cricket Umpires' pages
Hi PeeJay I had an idea in my mind which I wanted to share with you... I've seen matches being listed in pages of football stadia as well as officials so can the same be done for cricket umpires? Only the 2 major ICC tournaments i.e. World Cup and Champions Trophy match list for the EUP umpires maybe included... I think inclusion of limited statistics like this might be a good idea and would make the page more informative by highlighting the major matches in an umpire's career!! Messi's achievements
Yes, for the moment it's a replication, but that's why I tagged that article for improvement. I see no reason why Messi shouldn't have an article for his achievements when Cristiano Ronaldo has one. 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
Hi, I have some concerns with recent edits and requests made by other users in this page:
- Was there ever a discussion around the FOOTY project to change the way goalscorers were sorted in a list? I've been questioning this edit, which I reverted as I was used to sorting by nation, then surname.
- Speaking of the goalscorers list, I don't know whether a recent edit made by a user, which anchors to the goalscorers section, is easier to use for the page than a list of goalscorers in the situation.
- A discussion is currently ongoing in the Talk page regarding the hosts and I'm confused at what the IP is trying to say.
Thanks! Jd02022092 (talk) 15:09, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

DDR or GDR?
Hi, I've seen you've changed the East Germany trigamme years ago. I couldn't find any info regarding the actual way FIFA referred to East Germany while the country still existed. Why are you so sure that the code was effectively GDR and not DDR? There's a huge inconsistency between different Wikis (the Spanish one, for instance, affirms it was DDR). Summary of the 1954 World Cup Final
PeeJay, I need a little help. At the request of another user for more referencing I linked up the description of the 1954 World Cup final with the official TV footage that is posted on youtube, scene by scene. Now you now wrote that youtube is no adequate source. But the final summary does not make any disputable statements that require verification from independent and authoritative sources. It just describes what is there for everyone to see, in plain sight. I would not know a more direct and authoritative way to document it then linking the description up with the original footage.
Now I could of course link up the summary instead to descriptions in books or to descriptive articles on the internet, of which there are plenty (but many contain mistakes, confusing players etc - on of the best though is from Spielverlagerung.de). But I find this far less informative, and an inferior service to the reader. He would have to take somebody else's word for it rather than be directed to a place where he can see for himself.
Can you please suggest a good way out - I am most willing to cooperate and do what makes sense. Henry Kaspar (talk) 15:26, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response, PeeJay. First, I did not simply re-insert the youtube clips. I worked on the article while you did, enlarged the section, then integrated my version into yours when posting, and saw your comment about the sourcing only thereafter. Second, as for the matter at hand and to follow up on what you said, if at the beginning of the section I link, in addition to what there is now, to a couple of reputable articles and books that also describe the match (Escher, Kaska, Fritz Walter's memoires), would this do the trick?
- I will hold back with this for a few hours until I have your response. Cheers, HK. Henry Kaspar (talk) 16:02, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
- OK, will do so later today. One final more: in view of your explanation, can I let the youtube clips stand, or do I need to remove them for potential copyright violation (I have no idea whether the footage is copyrighted or not)? I'll do the latter if necessary. I am not aware of a good replacement though - on the FIFA website there is a short summary clip that shows three of the five goals, but this is all. Cheers, HK Henry Kaspar (talk) 16:20, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
- To clarify, the clip I mentioned is on the FIFA website itself (and on FIFA's own channel on youtube). Surely one can link to things that FIFA posted itself? I will remove the other links (it's a pity but no, I don't want to get Wikipedia into legal disputes with FIFA :-)).Henry Kaspar (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:29, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

Germany and West Germany aren't the same country
PeeJay, the name Germany and its code GER are used to designate the unified Germany. For the period between WWII and 1990, when East Germany and West Germany finally reunified themselves into the actual Germany, there are two different FIFA codes. The code for West Germany was FRG. To state it as GER is an anachronism, which should be avoided by Wiki standards. Please re-think your last revertion. Regards. Ipsumesse (talk) 21:29, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi again. The article may not use the codes, ok, but the FIFA report does, and that's the point of the note you're removing: to warn the occasional reader that the official report is misleading here. That misleading must be fixed by Wikipedians because the official report is linked there precisely to support the article's accuracy. We Wikpedians can't overlook that mistake, because if we do, our article stating "West Germany" instead of (supposedly) "Germany" may be thought to be wrong and unsourced. The note fixes this mistake in the report and explains why it's a mistake, strengthening the article's accuracy. It's not original research but a necessary warning. In the end, the point here is not if YOU are aware of the difference between Germany and West Germany, but if the READER is. If he may not be, we should assure that nevertheless he won't doubt of the article's accuracy regardless the source's info. If this doesn't convince you, I think we may call for third opinions at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football. Regards. Ipsumesse (talk) 22:14, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

MLS All-star game
Hi. regarding your revert of my edit on Schweinsteiger's page (and similarly on Howard's page), I saw you wrote that the MLS All-star selection doesn't appear to be in any other MLS player's page; however, players like Kakà, Giovinco, David Villa, Altidore, Pirlo, Lampard, Gerrard, etc. all already had it listed in their individual honours. I just thought I would check if you were ok with me reinserting it in that case. Thanks; best regards, Messirulez (talk) 14:39, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

It was difficult to determine a uniform use of either one or the other dash, so I just chose one and tried to standardize the articles. Just have a closer look next time. I'm not pissed because of the dashes but of all the other stuff you undid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ReNaHtEiM (talk • contribs) 20:02, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
To be honest I only do minor edits on Wikipedia so I am not familiar with all that stuff, like signing messages. 'defeat to' → 'defeat by'
Hi PeeJay2K3, I updated a number articles, including some outside my normal sphere of rugby league, from 'defeat to' → 'defeat by' as it has been pointed out to me that this is semantically correct, i.e. 'defeat to Manchester United', could be misread as 'defeat was caused to Manchester United', whereas 'defeat by Manchester United', would be correctly read as 'defeat was caused by Manchester United'… if that makes sense? Any-hoo, that's the reason for my changes, though I don't plan to revert your reversions :) Best regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 16:55, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
consistency to the naming of the templates
I am trying to drive some consistency to the naming of the templates under the 'British rugby league squad navigational boxes' category… there's a mixture of naming conventions (leading to duplicates), a mixture of how the templates are sorted, and how the templates are called from the articles. Best regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 16:25, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- Most clubs in the 'British rugby league squad navigational boxes' do not have an RLFC suffix, and it is inconsistent for some Wigan templates to have the RLFC suffix, while some do not, so I've elected to remove the RLFC suffix for Wigan templates for consistency with the other club templates, also changing, e.g. the case of Winners to winners, as it's not a proper noun, along the way. The reason the some of the Wigan templates still having the RLFC suffix, e.g. Challenge Cup, is that I haven't got round to changing them as yet. Best regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 16:40, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- The only templates with the RLFC suffix are; Halifax, St. Helens (some), and Wigan (some), that's 3-team out of many, e.g. there are 163 Challenge Cup navigational boxes/navigation templates, of which only 27-templates (Halifax, St. Helens, and Wigan) have the RLFC suffix; the templates are rugby league specific so the RLFC suffix is a bit superfluous anyway, it's contentious, e.g. St. Helens aren't actually called St. Helens RLFC, because the club was founded in 1873 in the rugby union (RFU) era, the club's actually called St. Helens R.F.C. and also it's easier to change 27-templates than 136-templates. Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 16:56, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- That there would be more articles to add 'RLFC', than to remove 'RLFC' was my tertiary point, not my primary point. For better (I believe), or worse, the majority of rugby league club articles do not have the RLFC suffix, and for those that do it's generally just used to differentiate between the club, and the city/town in which the club resides. Consequently, it would be inconsistent to add the RLFC suffix to each of those club's templates, when the club's own article does not have the RLFC suffix. If you feel the RLFC suffix should be added to each club, it may be worth discussing this on WikiProject Rugby league talk. Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 19:24, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- If you feel the RLFC suffix should be added to each navigational boxes/navigation templates of the pre-Super League era, then I suggest you discuss this on WikiProject Rugby league tal:k. Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 20:56, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- If you don't believe that I've adequately explained the reasoning behind the consistent naming of the navigational boxes/navigation templates, then I suggest you discuss this on WikiProject Rugby league talk. Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 21:19, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'm fully aware that you disagree with me, I just happen to disagree with you, and for someone who doesn't care about rugby league you've wasted an awful amount of your (and my) time. Best regards from some who's created 1746 more articles than you… please feel free to catch up. Regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 21:31, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Naming convention templates
In regards to my failed TfD a few months back with Template:Catalan name, I also need help keeping the other two Spain-based templates away from redirect status: Template:Basque name and Template:Galician name. I can no longer keep up with having to clean up the mess being made by Colombia-based IPs. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 06:03, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi, PeeJay2K3. It is a mistake by the website, Obertan wears #32 at Levski. As I am unable to upload photos here, please follow this link: [1] and pause the video at 03:52 in order to see for yourself. Best regards - shika99bul 16:06, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi PeeJay, was wondering if you happened to have a copy of Sir Alex's 'Leading'? Been meaning to start work on the great man's page for some time now, and started gathering material. If so, anything worth including? Lemonade51 (talk) 21:34, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Protection for List of career achievements by Cristiano Ronaldo
Hi there, could you semi-protect the article List of career achievements by Cristiano Ronaldo? IP addresses are constantly adding awards that Ronaldo hasn't attained. We tried to prevent this from happening through hidden text but it didn't do the trick. Hurrygane (talk) 17:29, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
RWC 1999 Samoa vs Japan
well, are you sure that it was Steven So'oialo and not Afato So'oalo that scored the try against Japan? i saw there (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1A_fVnURL4) (and also this page), where it was a winger (number 14) (So'oialo was a scrum-half (number 9), So'oalo was a winger). --KoreanDragon (talk) 00:11, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- The page is wrong, i think that there was a typo (in the video i have shown, the commentator even pronounced as "Soh-oh-a-low" and not as " "Soh-oh-eea-low"). Personally, i don't know how to write to World Rugby page (i just tried and it gave me an error about email client). But i don't limit only to World Rugby and to ESPN Scrum as sources. This news page from BBC also proves it.

- I provided that news page as source while i edited now.

RWC Coaching staff
Why is there an issue with having this section? Coaches and their assistants are still part of the squad, just not the playing squad. Its valid and relevant information. Rugby.change (talk) 00:43, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'd say that's opinion saying the coaches are not notable...
- Coaches are very notable, they lead press conferences before and after a game, are displayed on team sheets and often get a TV graphic during TV games.Rugby.change (talk) 20:41, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Silver goal
Hello, I noticed your edit on {{Silver goal}}, and had a couple of questions. If, say, a match goes to penalties, but both teams scored a goal in silver goal extra time, neither should use {{Silver goal}}? And for the 2003 UEFA European Under-19 Championship semi-final between Austria and Portugal, would only Pedro Pereira's first goal be a silver goal? Also, are goals in the second half of extra time counted as silver goals? Thanks, S.A. Julio (talk) 19:46, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- Alright thanks, I'll ask at FOOTY. I was a bit curious about silver goals after seeing the 2003 UEFA Cup Final, still unsure if Derlei actually scored a "silver goal". S.A. Julio (talk) 16:40, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
Pereira and 2017–18 Manchester United F.C. season
I get your point about him having a squad number and being available for the first games, but he didn't play, so we're effectively reporting that he did nothing and a reader would assume that he's still an active MUFC player. In this case, I'd suggest adding an extra column similar to what has been done in the case of Cancelo here. Valenciano (talk) 22:42, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

You're invited to join Wikipedia:WikiProject American football!
Hi! I noticed your good faith edits at fixing the NFL standings and would like to extend an offer for you to join this WikiProject. You see, I will soon cease editing articles in this WikiProject (except NFL) to focus on other tasks, like footy, video games, music, etc. and this will leave a space open for an editor to step in and take over. I was mainly focused on this WikiProject for minor copyedits and keeping up-to-date with standings for small developmental indoor football leagues, such as Indoor Football League and Champions Indoor Football, which don't have a lot of national coverage except in the markets where their teams are located and their games are mainly played during the NFL offseason. Thanks for considering this invitation, and I'll understand if this invitation would put a lot of weight on your hands. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 00:59, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

1996 Champions League "controversy"
Sorry, but controversy according to whom? In principle it was not about that competition (UEFA never opened an investigation about that) and Italian ordinary and sports law, after 9 years of trial (1998-2007 and UEFA and Ajax know about all the verdicts perfectly because both had emissaries in the courts), analysis of more than 480 anti-doping controls at national and international level and zero positivity in all of them (as stated in the verdicts), conclude that there was no supply of epo a any team's player. The verdicts about this can be read in this discussion. Finally, both articles cited here are wrong and/or distorted with this case, the first is from 2004 (after the trial's 1st degree, in Italy any trial is closed after the 3er degree) and this is clearly biased. About this case I have also read many "theories" of certain press as an alleged use of cocaine, ignoring that 1. That theory was never cited in the trial and 2. Ignore all the anti-doping controls since cocaine then was easy detectable (as Maradona in 1990), so we take greater consideration to official documents (such as criminal and sporting verdicts) or we believe in the imagination of certain journalists?--Dantetheperuvian (talk) 01:18, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
