Recent changes
- In the Wikipedia app for Android or iOS users can create reading lists. The reading lists can be seen on different devices if you are logged in to your account. There is now a browser extension so you can add pages to your reading list from a web browser. At the moment it works with Firefox and Chrome. [1]
- There is a new version of Pywikibot. Pywikibot is a tool to automate tasks on MediaWiki wikis. [2]
Problems
- The MonoBook skin was changed to make it work better for mobile users. This caused some problems. The change was rolled back to fix them. The new version is now back on the wikis. MonoBook users can opt out from the new responsive design. [3]
Changes later this week
- The new filters for edit review tools and interface for watchlists will leave beta. For most wikis this will happen on 18 June. For the rest it will happen on 25 June. [4][5]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 12 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 13 June. It will be on all wikis from 14 June (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the Readers Web team IRC office hour. There you can discuss tools to contribute on the mobile web for the existing MediaWiki skins. The meeting will be on 18 June at 16:00 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 12 June at 18:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 13 June at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- You will be able to move local wiki files to Commons and keep their original data intact. This is planned to come to the first wikis in June.

Historic families of Ghana
@ power~enwiki: Opposed to deletion of article - I'm honestly baffled that you say the article offers nothing in value in relation to its topic. The well-referenced article is about intellectual families that made pioneering contributions to the socioeconomic development of Ghana. You may check the books referenced if you have time. This article is analogous to the articles on Boston Brahmin and Old Philadelphians. I've removed any unsourced family names. If you want to discuss, please let me know.Kandymotownie (π, ν) 12:17, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
Missing person cases in Chile
Hi, I now see why that you want to delete missing persons cases it Chile, which is fine with me as I did not format or name the page the right way. Davidgoodheart (talk) 04:51, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, it was a procedural nomination after seeing the page on the new pages feed. I noticed you created the category afterwards, and assumed the first one was a mistake. power~enwiki (π, ν) 04:52, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
Greetings. Strange that you believe that initiatives by Dennis Kucinich get little notice on the United States (at least). Why would you say that? He's a US Senator with wide coverage in the media, on account of his populist and "anti-establishment" ideas and actions. I'm not here as a "fan" of the person but strictly as a Wiki editor. Take care. -The Gnome (talk) 04:13, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
P.S. Since I'm here, may I ask what are those "discretionary sanctions" to which you refer at the top? I have no idea. -The Gnome (talk) 04:13, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- @The Gnome: He's a former member of the US House of Representatives, not a Senator. And one known for promoting fringe views. Discretionary sanctions are special rules for editing certain areas (such as American Politics): it's easier for admins to place restrictions such as a one revert rule, extended-confirmed protection, or to topic-ban/block users for disruptive behavior. power~enwiki (π, ν) 04:15, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. Mea culpa abt DK's being a senator. Still, his views, as I gather from sources, have been and often still are notable, on account of them going against the so-called mainstream. He was far from an unknown politician; even got traction with presidential bids. And thanks for the info on sanctions here; understood. -The Gnome (talk) 04:21, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
NPP Backlog Elimination Drive
Hello 力, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
We can see the light at the end of the tunnel: there are currently 2900 unreviewed articles, and 4000 unreviewed redirects.
Announcing the Backlog Elimination Drive!
- As a final push, we have decided to run a backlog elimination drive from the 20th to the 30th of June.
- Reviewers who review at least 50 articles or redirects will receive a Special Edition NPP Barnstar: . Those who review 100, 250, 500, or 1000 pages will also receive tiered awards: , , , .
- Please do not be hasty, take your time and fully review each page. It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing.
Go here to remove your name if you wish to opt-out of future mailings. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 06:57, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
Why did you remove my section without a reason.
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Please provide a reason for the blanket removal of the section I posted at An/I and the very odd wikispeak thing. 91.110.126.210 (talk) 21:42, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- @91.110.126.210: in short: IP editors who are pushing POVs on controversial articles have almost no recourse against tough-but-fair language. I'd recommend you register an account. If you know what "Wikispeak" is, you're not a new editor, and should understand this. power~enwiki (π, ν) 21:46, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- I simply do not have a clue what you are talking about in regard to "pushing POVs on controversial articles". It would help if the article in question registered users would actually engage in a discussion when one is started. 91.110.126.210 (talk) 21:51, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved.
Preserving content
Hi I had only just realized you rarely use {{replyto}}. If I am not mistaken you have flagged the page Legato (framework) for deletion. I am wondering if there is a way of preserving the content in the case the content becomes more significant or notable in the future. Thanks. Tet325 (talk) 17:30, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Tet325: First, you did the ping wrong so I didn't see it; it is: @{{Reply to|power~enwiki}} not @[[Reply to|power~enwiki]]. Second, if you insist I can remove the PROD tag and nominate the article for deletion instead; that will likely result in the article being deleted in 1-2 weeks and make it harder to be re-created in the future. Third, I can move the article to your userspace (i.e. User:Tet325/Legato; if the product/company becomes more notable in the future you can move it to mainspace; I would recommend using the articles for creation process for that. power~enwiki (π, ν) 21:49, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Power~enwiki: Thanks, I think it would be better to move it to my userspace. I will take your recommendation and also take another look at the Wikipedia:Your first article page to help prevent any inconvenience for other editors in the future. Tet325 (talk) 02:41, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
UK politics fact check
You might want to correct 2010 is the year that Theresa May defeated Gordon Brown in a general election since Theresa May wasn't leader then. '2010 Labour defeat' is probably the best description since the Conservatives didn't manage a majority. However this debate is almost entirely within the left / centre-left of British politics and has its roots in New Labour and the Iraq war. 2001:630:E4:1402:2B93:119C:9895:5A25 (talk) 10:20, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
Radical Party Afd
Hey, Power~enwiki, thanks for your contribution to the Radical Party AfD. You mentioned something which, as it happens, I thought about creating many many many years ago, namely a notability policy for political parties. I haven't looked at it for many a moon but for reference it is here = User:Doktorbuk/pp. I would love to work with other editors on finally coming up with a guideline for political party notability, maybe it's something we could look at before sending it to a wider audience? doktorb wordsdeeds 19:37, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- I think that's far too complicated. Political parties fall under WP:ORG, but I don't think they are subject to the more stringent rules of WP:CORPDEPTH. It may be worth a section if WP:NPOL (notability of politicians) is expanded to its own page. power~enwiki (π, ν) 19:39, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, reading it back after all these years, I really was making quite the administrative nightmare there wasn't I! I may look at asking at NPOL if something could be drawn up for political parties. Thanks for the reply, I may be back to ask you for some ideas later :) doktorb wordsdeeds 19:57, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Syntax highlighting has been a beta feature on Wikimedia wikis with text written from left to right. It is now a normal feature. It is based on CodeMirror. [6]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 19 June at 18:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 20 June at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Some old web browsers will not be able to read the Wikimedia wikis. This is because they use an insecure way to connect to them. This means that we get less security for everyone else too. This affects about 0.08% of all traffic to the Wikimedia wikis. This affects for example those who read Wikipedia on a PlayStation 3. [7][8]
- The new filters for edit review tools and interface for watchlists will leave beta. Because there is no new MediaWiki version this week it will happen on 25 June for most wikis. For the rest it will happen in early July. [9][10]
- All wikis that have not already done so will switch to use the Remex parsing library on 5 July. This is to replace Tidy. You can help fix remaining errors. [11]

"delete and redirect"
Hi, in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of national capitals in alphabetical order and I think perhaps some other recent AFDs where we have crossed paths, you "!voted" "delete and redirect". Hey, I object, I think it is not helpful and maybe you are not getting across what you actually would want. It is like you are calling for wp:TNT, which I personally object to, as covered in counter-essay wp:TNTTNT. Whether or not you mean to invoke the TNT essay, you are literally asking for a page to be completely deleted, then to have a new redirect created at the page, but why? Suppose that is done, but then further sources become available, say, and an article gets recreated at the redirect, then there has probably been a violation of Wikipedia's Gnu Public License contract with editors. And there are other reasons against deletion of the edit history.
If, on the other hand, you want the article not to be in mainspace, but to have a redirect in its place, then you should just vote "Redirect". Allow the edit history to be there. I think the edit history rarely does any harm, by the way; even if there is an editor who wants to go against consensus, the availability does not really help them. The edit history in fact can be helpful to keep something killed, because we can see the history of bad edits/POV-pushing/COI editors/whatever and can point to that succinctly if the topic resurrects, not have to go through it all again without memory of past bad stuff.
Maybe this is just semantics, that you are saying "Delete and redirect" when you mean what I would call a "Redirect" vote. Or maybe I am missing something. Could you please comment? sincerely, --Doncram (talk) 01:07, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- Meh, this was a bad place for that vote. In a situation like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Baristas, delete-and-redirect is appropriate because the new redirect is unrelated to the existing page. power~enwiki (π, ν) 01:18, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for your reply. About that other case, I think that the edit history about the company "Baristas" is better kept in, so that there is record of who was POV-pushing about it, and that can be pointed out easily. Rather than giving some PR firm a blank slate to start in again, in six months or a year, on this or similar-named versions of an article about the firm. The edit history is like having a wooden stake (I think, i am not sure of the current best vampire-killing tools). :) --Doncram (talk) 01:48, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
I strongly believe that article satisfies the minimum criteria of notability and should not be abruptly deleted. Instead, an improvement is needed. Please do take part in AfD. AchaksurvisayaUdvejin (talk) 18:36, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
re: Donald Trump's family separation policy
@Volunteer Marek and Atsme: - you are both contributing far more heat than light at this time in the discussion on the family separation policy. I politely ask both of you to refrain from any further comment in that RFC for the next few days. power~enwiki (π, ν) 17:06, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- Please refrain from making further "polite" but false allegations about my participation in an important discussion. If you were actually paying close attention to the exchanges - and I don't understand why you have chosen to focus on me when there are far more disruptive exchanges taking place at those articles - you will see that VM has been badgering/baiting me after nearly every comment I've made - and yes, I've been keeping track of the diffs. Atsme📞📧 17:31, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- The biggest problem is the back-and-forth, which both of you are responsible for, regardless of whose behavior is worse. I do disagree with the "Obama started it in 2014" view you give in [12] (and several other diffs) being relevant for the inclusion of some content on this policy on the Trump article. While you're welcome to give your position, repeating it too many times serves only to disrupt the discussion. power~enwiki (π, ν) 17:50, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- It's not back and forth - he asks questions or comments after nearly every comment I make (and also to a few others whose views differ from his) and I try to answer him politely. That is called discussion with a hostile editor - not discussion between 2 hostile editors. It's when he doesn't like my responses that he turns to bludgeoning and PAs - he turns up the heat on me - and I imagine this recent rash is because of this revert, which is now proving to be a good revert based on the responses to his ridiculous actions and allegations as evidenced in the following diffs:
- [13] - he had a temper tantrum and added a NPOV tag to the article after I reverted his edit;
- [14] - he said my rationale for removal was even more ridiculous, and accused me of blatant WP:GAMING the "no consensus" restriction, the latter of which coupled with all the other PAs and bludgeoning should get him TB for relentless incivility at Trump-related articles...and yes, several editors can provide the necessary diffs - but that isn't the goal as far as I'm concerned. He can be a productive contributor if he'll stop wearing his emotions on his sleeve, and stop attacking editors with his snarky attacks and aspersions simply because they don't agree with his perspective, which is obviously skewed at times. None of us are perfect. Atsme📞📧 18:38, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- I have no idea what Marek was thinking with [15] this addition. power~enwiki (π, ν) 18:42, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- The one-sidedness of it or the fact it was added to the lead? It probably belongs in the Trump Foundation article, and maybe a bit of mention in the body of the DJT article but in a balanced summary form (all views) and not at the level of detail it was presented by VM. The way things are unfolding now with the Strzok issue and the hearings by the House Oversight Committee with Horowitz & Wray...we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg...wait until OIG submits his report on the Russia investigation. Anyone who wants to see what election interference and a real conspiracy looks like, look no further than our own FBI. Jiminy Cricket!!!! Atsme📞📧 23:41, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: List of Combate Americas Events
Hello Power~enwiki. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of List of Combate Americas Events, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: if the franchise is notable, the list of their events is at least significant enough to pass A7. Thank you. SoWhy 07:58, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Anthony Kennedy
Editors who are interested in the WP:ITNC debate regarding Anthony Kennedy's retirement can find it themselves.
I'm considering attempting to make this Good Article quality, so it will be eligible for a DYK at some point during the coming months. I would be more than happy if some other editor did this instead, possibly one frustrated with the editing situation at Donald Trump or other current-event pages.
At a quick glance, the major issues with the article include limited coverage of the 1975-1988 tenure on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, excessive coverage of some cases (the section on Florence v. Board of Chosen Freeholders seems unnecessary), and a bunch of bad writing. power~enwiki (π, ν) 04:56, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Regarding WP:AE
Hi Power~enwiki, this is in regarding the comment you made [34] where you mentioned me and said that I may need some sanctions and warning. I am a little confused since I explained my actions here [35] and further in the filed WP:AE. I am happy to answer any more questions or concerns you might have about that edit or other edits. Unfortunately, I could retort all the points raised since I was offline for 48-72 hours (mentioned) and the AE was closed with no action in my absence. Sorry, I did not reply to your questions there since I do not want to get involved in that conflict or have anything of note to say there. Also, this was not to hound you but I simply wanted some clarity regarding your concerns WRT to me. Thanks. Adamgerber80 (talk) 18:09, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I added a reference to the article, but as it is a German textbook on business economics, the better solution would be to wait until a native speaker with a degree in economics, specialised in joint production and the assessment of co-products, will recommend an English textbook as a reference. Please let's have a deletion discussion at the talk page of the article. I admit that I may not have found the proper English term, and "equivalent number method" is only the literal translation of "Äquivalenzziffermethode". So, if you have a better idea for the lemma (method to allocate input costs based on the rule of proportion calculated by equivalent numbers), please let me know. --Gunnar (talk) 11:30, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.12 30 July 2018
|
Hello 力, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- June backlog drive
Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.
- New technology, new rules
- New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
- Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
- Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
- Editathons
- Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
- The Signpost
- The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

Castleman Disease Collaborative Network Page Deletion
Hi, thank you for reviewing the CDCN page I had created, I was hoping to get more information on why it was deleted and whether or not I could revise the page so that it would be suitable. I understand that I have a conflict of interest in drafting the page, but I believe that there were enough references in appropriate sources to justify a page. Do you feel it is not appropriate to have a page for this subject? If so I will not rewrite the article. I would be happy to remove sections from the article that were not adequately supported by references. Thanks! CDK55 (talk) 13:55, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

An arbitration case regarding German war effort articles has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:
- For engaging in harassment of other users, LargelyRecyclable is indefinitely banned from the English Wikipedia under any account.
- Cinderella157 is topic banned from the history of Germany from 1932 to 1945, broadly construed. This topic ban may be appealed after six months have elapsed and every six months thereafter.
- Auntieruth55 is reminded that project coordinators have no special roles in a content dispute, and that featured articles are not immune to sourcing problems.
- Editors are reminded that consensus-building is key to the purpose and development of Wikipedia. The most reliable sources should be used instead of questionable sourcing whenever possible, especially when dealing with sensitive topics. Long-term disagreement over local consensus in a topic area should be resolved through soliciting comments from the wider community, instead of being re-litigated persistently at the local level.
- While certain specific user-conduct issues have been identified in this decision, for the most part the underlying issue is a content dispute as to how, for example, the military records of World War II-era German military officers can be presented to the same extent as military records of officers from other periods, while placing their records and actions in the appropriate overall historical context. For better or worse, the Arbitration Committee is neither authorized nor qualified to resolve this content dispute, beyond enforcing general precepts such as those requiring reliable sourcing, due weighting, and avoidance of personal attacks. Nor does Wikipedia have any other editorial body authorized to dictate precisely how the articles should read outside the ordinary editing process. Knowledgeable editors who have not previously been involved in these disputes are urged to participate in helping to resolve them. Further instances of uncollegial behavior in this topic-area will not be tolerated and, if this occurs, may result in this Committee's accepting a request for clarification and amendment to consider imposition of further remedies, including topic-bans or discretionary sanctions.
For the Arbitration Committee,

Corbyn
I've declined protection for the minute. The two major players in the current dispute are Snowded and Clivel 0 - the former meets 30/500, the latter doesn't. Extend-protecting the article would therefore hand control to one of the two participants, which doesn't seem fair. We could block them both, but then they can't discuss their differences. I think, for now, we let the talk page discussion play out a bit longer and then suggest dispute resolution if it breaks down. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:13, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi
Can I kindly request you to share your email id or any other contact details for me to speak to you about the recent deletion of Locus page. I am in extreme embarrassment after what has happened. Please understand I am just flabbergasted with the consequences of this deletion. Note that per this discussion on my talk page, I have restored the Locus.sh article and relisted its deletion discussion. North America1000 12:36, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your speedy action on this talk page, however I am embarrassed to say that I accidentally did almost the same thing I complained about, that is, I hit the wrong button and added a speedy delete tag to Talk:Disappearance of Mollie Tibbetts instead of User talk:NTK/Test.
I've reverted this, but it would have the side effect of blocking a move back if that decision were made, which was not my intent. Can you delete Talk:Disappearance of Mollie Tibbetts again and add the redirect? Sorry. 😳 NTK (talk) 16:03, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- You (or anyone else) definitely should not be moving that page without consensus; and a WP:ROUNDROBIN page move will work without doing anything there. power~enwiki (π, ν) 16:06, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- I have moved the page back to its original location, per the following rationale - "While the rationale of "Disappearance" no longer being accurate is correct, no move should have taken place without the completion of this discussion to which NTK referred in their previous edit summary. You can't suggest a consensus discussion, but unilaterally make a decision on your own to move to one of the options being discussed within that conversation." I have already noted my support of the suggested title ("Death of...") in the discussion on the Talk page StrikerforceTalk 18:10, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the pointer but WP:ROUNDROBIN without suppressredirect rights (normal users) using the "Classic Sequence" requires admin intervention twice in series to delete created redirects. So I don't think that's a better solution for moving onto edited redirect pages than Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests which only needs a single admin intervention and doesn't break anything while waiting on a admin for the delete between steps 2 and 3. Too many cooks...
... end up edit-conflicting trying to improve an article. Whoops! Primefac (talk) 16:56, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
- Yup. I figured it was best to do a clean revert (as the edit was obviously promotional and from obvious autoconfirmed gaming) and restore whatever changes were relevant. Your change about the mention of battery in the lead was reverted by Lepricavark; it's probably worth discussing that on the talk page. I don't see how a variety of (likely-paid) "30 under 30" awards (really just blurbs in slideshow-style infotainment) can possibly be relevant; if you disagree that should be on the talk page as well. power~enwiki (π, ν) 16:59, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
Removal of Ces Cru album Catastrophic Event Specialists
Hi
It seems that you've removed the page I created for the album Catastrophic Event Specialists (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Catastrophic_Event_Specialists&redirect=no) I'm not entirely sure why, since the only information on the page was basic info like release date, track list and credits. These are all info that are found in the official CD booklet, and I even found an online source that documents that the info was correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fayzenith (talk • contribs) 13:42, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

Hello Power~enwiki,
Thanks for the ping. I was working IRL and could not look into it promptly. By the time I could, the problem had already been resolved by one of our capable colleagues. I do appreciate it, though. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:59, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- When you added or edited a template with the visual editor the input boxes were very big. This has been fixed. The input boxes will now be smaller until you click on them. Then they will change size to fit the text. [73]
Problems
- Some diffs showed lines in the wrong order. This was fixed last week. [74]
- Marking a cross-wiki notification as read didn't work every time. The other wiki was not updated. This has now been fixed. [75]
<maplink>
did not work for a few days. This was because of a bug. This has now been fixed. [76]{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
is used by some templates. For a period edits saved with{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
would save the previous user's name and not your username. This is now fixed. Edits made before the bug was fixed will still be wrong and need to be corrected. [77]- When you move a page the title still shows the old page name. The developers are working on fixing this. [78]
Changes later this week
- Because of a data centre test you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for up to an hour on 12 September and 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time. The time when you can't edit might be shorter than an hour. You can read more about this.
- Because of the data centre test there will be no new version of MediaWiki this week. Changes for this week will come next week instead.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 11 Septmber at 18:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 12 September at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The developers work on making the wikis work better on mobile phones. There is a list of common problems when making content easier to read in the mobile view. You can add things to the page and ask others to help.

Changes needed for the sub-section "Restructuring state enterprises" on the Wiki concept "Business"
Hi!
The text about BPM (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business) under the sub-section called "Restructuring state enterprises" sounds like it's coming from a BPM salesman. BPM is much more relevant to business process improvement than to restructuring state (or corporate) enterprises. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restructuring and https://hbswk.hbs.edu/archive/creating-value-through-corporate-restructuring-how-to-make-restructuring-work-for-your-company
So if we want to use relevant information for the section "Restructuring state enterprises", than we should remove BPM entirely. Maybe have a new section under Business called "Business Process Modeling" and then refer to this instead: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_process_management.
Btw sorry about the change to the text itself, I just forgot that I can use this forum instead.

NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018
Hello 力, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.
- Project news
- The New Page Feed now has a new "Articles for Creation" option which will show drafts instead of articles in the feed, this shouldn't impact NPP activities and is part of the WMF's AfC Improvement Project.
- As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
- There are a number of coordination tasks for New Page Patrol that could use some help from experienced reviewers. See Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Coordination#Coordinator tasks for more info to see if you can help out.
- Other
- A new summary page of reliable sources has been created; Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources/Perennial sources, which summarizes existing RfCs or RSN discussions about regularly used sources.
- Moving to Draft and Page Mover
- Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
- If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
- Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
- The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
- The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.

Possible socks?
Hi Power~enwiki. Because you commented at Talk:Western State Colorado University, I figured I would ask you. What's your thoughts on Rjtoney, Peternoon, TaylorHall1910 all being socks of one another with Agray47 being the master (first account created, asked for name change at Requests for permission)? I'm suspecting the IPs as well, who along with the accounts listed above have only edited WSCU... Thoughts? Corky 19:40, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Poems
Hi you recently removed the text of the poem The Horse (poem). As the owners of the copyright explicitly allow it to be reproduced for free I thought that it would be ok to add it as is a short poem. Could you point me to the policy or guidelines that explains what is needed to be able to reproduce it as I'm a bit a newbie in terms of copyright. Dom from Paris (talk) 05:05, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not an expert either. From Wikipedia:Copyrights:
In other words, you may only import text that is (a) single-licensed under terms compatible with the CC BY-SA license or (b) dual-licensed with the GFDL and another license with terms compatible with the CC BY-SA license.
I am not sure the license terms on [94] are compatible. Separately, per WP:NOTMIRROR, it's probably better for the full text of the poem to be on Wikisource than Wikipedia. power~enwiki (π, ν) 15:21, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Hello 力, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- Backlog
As of 21 October 2018[update], there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.
- Community Wishlist Proposal
- There is currently an ongoing discussion regarding the drafting of a Community Wishlist Proposal for the purpose of requesting bug fixes and missing/useful features to be added to the New Page Feed and Curation Toolbar.
- Please join the conversation as we only have until 29 October to draft this proposal!
- Project updates
- ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
- There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.
- New scripts
- User:Enterprisey/cv-revdel.js(info) — A new script created for quickly placing {{copyvio-revdel}} on a page.

Michigan Gubernatorial Election, 2018
You're excluding a major party candidate. Wikipedia supposedly has standards for 5% in polls to list a candidate in the info box but this is a bad policy. I don't know that it's a hard policy anyway. The better method is to give info box rights by party status given to party's by the state. This is an unbiased and manipulated method. Polls can be pushed, pulled, exclusionary while major and minor party status is regulated by law. You are excluding a major party candidate on the Michigan Gubernatorial Election, 2018 page and that is blatantly unfair. The candidate is categorized as a major party candidate, was on the same primary ballot as the other two major party's, had to mechanically do EVERYTHING the other two major party candidates did and as a result should be treated the exact same. Anything else is a blatant black ball of a major party candidate. The minor party candidates should not have info box access and I think that is reasonable. I think any policy relying on polling data is a bad one and if anyone is reasonable they'd also agree. I'm not sure what "consensus" is in Wiki land but there is no consensus and I've now been blocked from undoing a single users edit who came in late in the game to edit out a candidate I suspect they don't want to be listed. All major party candidates should be listed and it is not a fair practice to list 2 our of the 3. Those policy's suppresses the truth that Michigan has three major party's. I can't stress the detriment of these actions enough. Please consider my argument and restore the page fairly representing all the major party's Michigan voters now have the option to elect (and minor one's should they so choose). Thank you Wolfsden3 (talk) 18:30, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- The hard policy is that *after* the election, only candidates with >5% are listed. Before the election there's no clear site-wide policy. That said, I don't think that the state's "major party" designation is a useful way to make this determination; if that's your only argument to include this photo in the infobox there is unlikely to be consensus to include it. power~enwiki (π, ν) 18:39, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
