Revision as of 02:29, 24 November 2015

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Semi-protection: Multiple vandalism edits by unregistered users. TheBellaTwins1445(talk) 05:31, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Persistent edit warring between IP user and HotWiki. Patterns of this shown in the past on this article. JQTriple7 (talk) 08:20, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – This is from one IP, so I don't know if page protection is required, or possibly a block of the IP, but figured I'd try for this and have the admin decide. Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:14, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism by blocked IP editor. See WP:ANI#Misc desk question repeatedly removed in error. Tevildo (talk) 22:58, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 day, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Elockid Message me 23:04, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent addition of unsourced content from dynamic IP. Qed237 (talk) 23:11, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see now it was denied here, but this has happened multiple times like [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7]. The last three led to protection, last time. Or perhaps this dynamic IP can be blocked? Qed237 (talk) 23:17, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Notify the admin, User:Ged UK, that denied request last time. Qed237 (talk) 23:18, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Permanent semi-protection: High level of annoying vandalism. Might only be stoppable by permanently protecting it.🐂Mr. Great Cow (talk · contribs)🐂 23:58, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected by administrator Callanecc. Samsara 01:36, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

'Semi-protection: Stable highly visible supplemental parent page that only really sees vandal edits. Best to semi-protect I think--Moxy (talk) 00:10, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism by IP 124.129.23.114. Ryk72 'c.s.n.s.' 00:48, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: The great majority of edits during the last year are IP vandalism or spam. — Gorthian (talk) 00:54, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. I don't see too much recent vandalism (the last instance was three weeks ago); the instances which do occur seem to be infrequent enough to be sufficiently managed with the conventional methods. Biblioworm 01:30, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Immediate resumption IP socks adding same bogus info. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:49, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Samsara 01:59, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

This article was salted. Ever since article has be rewritten with substantial references from various sources in draft Draft:Huccha_Venkat. This articles needs to be unsalted. Rajannamysore (talk) 00:13, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection: From full protection to no protection because it has been thoroughly reformatted and references several reliable sources.Rajannamysore (talk) 00:28, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You should have asked Graeme Bartlett on his talk page, as he is the protecting admin. Since you didn't, I pinged him for you. Katietalk 02:12, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I requested the article to restored in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_undeletion#Huccha_Venkat_2 I was redirected to this page. I am getting bounced from page to another. Rajannamysore (talk) 04:04, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but I didn't see your chat on his talk page. So, I have left a message on his talk page. Rajannamysore (talk) 04:10, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have requested that WP:DRV be the venue for this request, as the article has been voted delete three times. If there is a consensus for allowing the recreation then sure it should be unsalted. At the moment the draft is a bit of a negative BLP, but the community should examine it to override all the earlier deletes. The protection is a continuation of User:JohnCD's protect, as I restored the content for the draft. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:32, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Where is anybody reviewing the article? what makes you think the "draft of a negative BLP"??? what do u think abt these articles Osama bin Laden, Umesh Reddy, Dhananjoy Chatterjee, Darbara Singh (murderer), M. Jaishankar, Murder of Hannah Foster, Santosh Madhavan, are these any positive BLP??? If Huccha Venkat is negative BLP, doesn't need to be listed on wiki, then these articles fare less chance than his. Let us start the cleaning process. Can't understand how much politics surrounds in free thinking forum. Every user suggesting to go to a new page to challenge the review. I see many users hoping from article to another, removing end spaces. They call it CONTRIBUTION. When an article is written accurately, there are some people trying to show off the rules. Enjoy the power vested in you. Rajannamysore (talk) 13:11, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
"This is not the place to request an article be unsalted; see WP:Requests for page protection#Current requests for reduction in protection level. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 17:32, 21 November 2015 (UTC)", "You should have asked Graeme Bartlett on his talk page, as he is the protecting admin. From "Wikipedia:Requests_for_undeletion" to "Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection" to "Graeme Bartlett on his talk page" to "Wikipedia:Deletion_review", Is there any end to this drama? I see a lot of misinformation floating here. It looks like confusing and redirecting the contributors is a smart way for some people to become important in WP. Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests
