Revision as of 15:21, 13 December 2008

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Ip address are constantly removing referenced section and are completely ignoring hidden message. .(Moon) and (Sunrise) 14:12, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there would appear to be disruption from anonymous editors transpiring here.
Semi-protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected..

Temporary full protection dispute, two editors are currently fighting a war over vocal ranges in The Rocky Horror Picture show, and it's range is approaching shrill. Revertions are rampant. This would be a great candidate for a time-out. Cheers..Digital Mischief 14:03, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection dispute, Yesterday Pixelface reverted WP:N to a March 05 version, something he has attempted to due twice before, both without consensus. Discussion on the talk page shows his reversion still has no consensus, however now another editor is helping him revert back to this old version, again against consensus. As this is the core notability guideline, protection requested to stop this back and forth..-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 10:41, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Fully protected SoWhy 10:47, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection - IP vandalism over the past few months. Some people have changed the article for fun. Especially at part of 'Members'. I can not stand any more and do not want to check this article everyday whether something else changed into wrong information or not. I requested a month ago but was declined. Administrator said 'If the degree of vandalism would get worse I will'. Then I think this is the moment. The article really need protection right NOW. reference) The article of SHINee at Wikipedia Korea has been protected. http://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%83%A4%EC%9D%B4%EB%8B%88

Declined, sorry, but our protection policy might be different than the one of the Korean Wikipedia. We do not protect pages unless the disruptive activity is really taking over and blocking the users in question does not help. SoWhy 10:43, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism and phony username vandalism (usernames made up for the purpose of vandalizing this article). Someone is injecting his own, personal hatred of Troy Davis into the article by vandalizing it persistently. This user(s) mistakenly and perversely thinks the way to honor the slain officer is to engage in blatant vandalism, making unsubstantiated wild claims, using dishonest words, deleting arguments of innocence that he doesn't like, etc. Article needs protection immediately, including from phony usernames. User:SelfEvidentTruths (talk - contribs) 04:09, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. SoWhy 10:45, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection due to high number of IP vandalism. Willking1979 (talk) 01:21, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. SoWhy 10:49, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection, the edit war the page was protected over seems to date from over a year ago. I assume it's certainly simmered down by now. --Cybercobra (talk) 12:21, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection or semiprotect, there are numerous {{editprotected}} requests on this page that haven't been resolved and the initial reason for protection is unclear. As a result, other editors have created forks of this template that should have been coded as parameters. (See {{Sisterlinks-author}}). ~ PaulT+/C 14:19, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

Semi-protection an anonymous editor using multiple IP addresses keeps removing the {{R from alternative name}} template from the redirect for some inexplicable reason. TheIntersect (talk) 07:51, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Cirt (talk) 07:55, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection for an extended period; last protected for three months. I do not wish to count the number of vandalism edits, but a glance at the page history would show the severity of persistent vandalism there. --Paul_012 (talk) 07:42, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Cirt (talk) 07:50, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: The article has received a lot of vandalism as of late. -- Luke4545 (talk) 07:00, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, There have been so many nonsense vandalism edits in the recent past with no significant, informational edits..Clubmarx (talk) 06:21, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Cirt (talk) 08:02, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent revert-warring by a dynamic IP who has refused to discuss the issue despite messages on talk pages and requests for discussion in edit summaries. The abuse has escalated to personal attacks against me in the edit summaries, such as "Illazilla is a fucking stupid slutty ass whore, she ought to kill herself for the safety of others!" The editor then created an account with a username that is a clear personal attack against me: User:IllaZillaisaslut. I have reported the username separately. A previous request for protection was denied, but the abuse is now constant and recent enough to warrant protection. --IllaZilla (talk) 04:50, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Cirt (talk) 08:00, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection, because an anonymous editor with a dynamic IP (122.54.240.0/20) is repeatedly posting misinformation. The page was semi-protected by SoWhy on October 19 for this reason. Again by Master of Puppets on October 24. Wronkiew (talk) 04:29, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Cirt (talk) 07:58, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection History of large-scale vandalism. Since vandalism on Dec 9th, there have been over 40 edits, most of the unconstructive (diff to the current). Since my last vandalism correction on May 14th, there have been over 750 edits, most unconstructive. Everyone seems to like smilies and can't resist leaving their mark, it seems. Temporary semi-protection, There is one editor that is not happy with the merger/change of lineup of the new Sirius XM service and is using this article to air his/her grievance of that fact (one of the stations he/she liked got deleted). (S)he has edited under at least three different usernames (2 IPs and one as Mgsnv2). The registered name has been warned at least once but it's been a 3-4 day deal..τßōиЄ2001 (ǂ ) 02:02, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected - 1 month. I have warned Mgsnv2 for 3RR. EdJohnston (talk) 02:28, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection History of large-scale vandalism, with few or no recent constructive edits. JNW (talk) 01:45, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection vandalism, This is getting ridiculous. About 2/3 of the last 50 edits were either vandalism or reverting vandalism. Please s-protect..Jonathan321 (talk) 21:36, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

semi protection requested Somewhat long pattern of vandalism from IPs, and there's someone on a dynamic IP or proxy IP that's just been blocked on one of his/her IPs and may soon get another IP. PCHS-NJROTC (Messages) 21:31, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Rjd0060 (talk) 22:14, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protection vandalism, Edit warring with IP's. They keep adding a list of characters for the game, but the source used is not reliable as per WP:VG and WP:PW, resulting in the removal of the content. The IGN source they use is only for the boxart, which does not verify the list of characters. Needs SP, for now, for about a month..SRX 21:19, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
