The Berlin International Film Festival, also called the Berlinale, is one of the world's leading film festivals and business events held in Berlin, Germany.[1] Founded in 1951, the festival has been celebrated annually in February since 1978. With more than 200,000 tickets sold and around 400,000 admissions it is considered the biggest publicly-attended film festival worldwide.[2] Up to 400 films are shown in several sections with an emphasis on representing a contemporary array from all over the world. Around twenty films competing for the awards called the Golden and Silver Bears. Since 2001 the director of the festival has been Dieter Kosslick.
The European Film Market (EFM), a film trade fair running simultaneously to the Berlinale, is one of the most important events for the international film industry once a year. The festival is attended by more than 20,000 professionals from over 120 countries. Around 4500 journalists televising the event. The Berlinale Talent Campus, an annual winter school for younger filmmakers partners with the festival itself and is considered to be a forum for upcoming artists.
The 58th Berlin International Film Festival will be held 07 to 17 February 2008.

Berlinale Talent Campus
Commencing in 2003, the Berlinale has partnered with the Berlinale Talent Campus, which is a winter school for "up and coming filmmakers" that takes place at the same time as the Festival itself. The Talent Campus accepts about 350 applicants each year; the attendees come from around the world, and represent all of the filmmaking professions.
The proceedings include presentations and workshops by distinguished experts, who have included Park Chan-wook, Frances McDormand, Stephen Frears, Dennis Hopper, Jia Zhangke, Walter Murch, Anthony Minghella, Charlotte Rampling, Walter Salles, Ridley Scott, Raoul Peck, Tom Tykwer, and Wim Wenders.[3] Many of these presentations and lectures are archived, both as videorecordings and transcripts, on the Talent Campus' website.
