Democratic People's Republic of Korea passports are issued to citizens of Democratic People's Republic of Korea for the international travel.

The privilege of a passport in North Korea is limited to a selected few. Membership of the Korean Workers' Party is essentially a requisite, as well as being close to the government structures which issue the passports and exit-visas.

In the Passport note it says:

English

The holder of the passport is under protection of Democratic People's Republic of Korea. All of those whom (it) may concern are hereby requested to allow the holder to pass freely without delay or hindrance, and to afford the holder with assistance and protection as may be necessary.

Visa-free travel

North Korean ordinary citizens are normally not allowed to exit the country, not even for tourist purposes. The exit-visas are granted only to the government officials as well as sports and other special delegations. Those who obtained permission to exit North Korea can travel to 36 countries and territories visa-free or get visa upon arrival.
