== notification of discretionary sanctions ==

{{Ivmbox
| The [[WP:Arbitration Committee|Arbitration Committee]] has permitted [[WP:Administrators|administrators]] to impose discretionary sanctions (information on which is at [[Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions]]) on any editor who is active on pages broadly related to Eastern Europe. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the [[Wikipedia:Five pillars|purpose of Wikipedia]], satisfy any [[Wikipedia:Etiquette|standard of behavior]], or follow any [[Wikipedia:List of policies|normal editorial process]]. If you inappropriately edit pages relating to this topic, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The Committee's full decision can be read at the "[[Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Eastern Europe#Final decision|Final decision]]" section of the decision page.<p>

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at [[Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions]], with the appropriate sections of [[Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Procedures]], and with the case decision page before making any further edits to the pages in question. This notice is given by an uninvolved administrator and&nbsp;will be logged on the case decision, pursuant to the conditions of the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions system.

Ways to improve Józef Celmajster

Hi, I'm Mrt3366. Sobiepan, thanks for creating Józef Celmajster!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Add citations.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 13:20, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for June 16

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 5 Batalion 14 Środkowobośniackiej Brygady NOVJ, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Polonia (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

Thank you for your recent articles, including Monument in Memory of the Fallen Polish Pilots in World War II. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. This can help you too, as the WikiProject members will often defend your work from deletion and try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information. Herby

I see you embarked on a huge project. I happened to accidentally have Wieniawa coat of arms page on my watch list, and I would like to give you one advice about images. I saw there are HUNDREDS polish COAs in commons, and much of them are uncategorized. Therefore I would suggest you to do the following for each herb article:

  1. check whether commons has a category for this herb
    1. if not, create one, like I've just done for commons:category:Wieniawa (coat of arms)
    2. If yes, please ensure that it follows a standard naming rule, and rename if necessary. I would suggest you to start discussion avbout statndard naming of these categories in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Poland
  2. Add this category to all files in commons that are related to this COA.
  3. In the article about this COA:
    1. use only a few images which demonstrate different aspects of the COA
    2. make all remaining images reachable by adding a {{commonscat}} template, as I've just done in Wieniawa coat of arms page.
    3. Do not create a "gallery" section. "Commonscat" is enough. Galleries significantly slow down article loading. This is especially painful if a mobile device is used or in placed with slow internet connection, or in places where you have to pay per megabyte.
    4. Try to make some inline references, rather than "Bibliography" section. Staszek Lem (talk) 22:01, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will do this that way. Could you pls. help and translate some blazon sections from PL-Wiki? --Sobiepan (talk) 16:03, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK I will try to to something here and there. However please keep in mind that en-wp is more stringent in terms of referencing, and I'd rather look for some books to translate from. Staszek Lem (talk) 21:42, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Sieniawski family

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Sieniawski family. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Sieniawski. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Sieniawski – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. JetBlast (talk) 20:05, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You have added as a sources two links to the documents of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland relating to the changes in the Constitution of Poland. Is it consistent to your intentions regarding the improvement of this article? --Robsuper (talk) 12:06, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sobiepan. I declined this request as a technical move since it gives no reason for moving. You've been mass moving Polish noble families, which may or may not be OK but perhaps some feedback should be asked for. Please consider opening a {{Requested move}} at Talk:Sobieski family. Hi, I have started a thread on WT:POLAND two weeks ago - so far there are no objections--Sobiepan (talk) 20:57, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion at WT:POLAND is good, but perhaps you could also check what the criteria are for using the title 'House of' for families with some claim to nobility in other countries. Should the Sobieskis be placed in the same group as the Habsburgs? See House of Habsburg. Consider asking for input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Royalty and Nobility. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 22:39, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, of course, both were Royal families. "House of" is not only used for Royal families. Please see House of Lobkowicz, House of Metternich, House of Hoyos (counts), House of Schönburg (counts), House of Mansfeld (princes), House of Kinsky (princes), House of Hohenberg (dukes), House of Waldstein, etc.--Sobiepan (talk) 23:11, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sobiepan, you had redirected Katarzyna Sobieska (XVI-XVII) to House of Sobieski, presumably because she was a member of the family, but it appears we already have an article at Katarzyna Sobieska. I've retargeted the redirect there under the assumption that these are the same people. If this is correct, no action is required. If not, please let me know. --BDD (talk) 19:09, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute with Franek K.

Sobiepan, I appreciate your helpful edits on Poland-related subject. I have also been on English Wikipedia for 10 years, and I have seen editors self-destruct (retire or get themselves blocked) for not being able to find a solution to escalating conflicts such as this one. I have reviewed your and his edits and I think both of you are trying to help this project. Please read WP:AGF and WP:TEA, as well as my essay here, and try to work things out. I can try to help and mediate, and I would hate to see any of you blocked. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:42, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@User:PiotrusYes, I know what you mean, there are too much hate among the users. My propose is: I will keep out of the languages articles and Franek K. will do the same. I saw few editors on Slavic language talk page which are doing a good job, they should rewrite the articles. What do you think about this?--Sobiepan (talk) 18:20, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's a possibility, but I don't think either of you needs to stop editing in this area. Just respect each other and policies more. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 18:52, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sobiepan: please do not insert gigantic graphics in to the middle of discussions as you have been. It's highly disruptive to the flow of discussion and makes things incredibly hard to follow. Please link (not embed) any graphics you find necessary to make your point. Thanks, Kevin Gorman (talk) 17:57, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for editwarring and tendentious editing after multiple warnings. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Kevin Gorman (talk) 20:03, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I could have blocked both of you several days ago when the original editwarring reports were filed. I didn't, in hopes that blocks could be avoided and productive discussion started. Luckily, there is a productive discussion ongoing in the move request at Silesian language that didn't exist before, but unluckily, both of you are still editwarring. Please remember that even if you have not reached three reverts on a page, you can still be blocked for editwarring. Please also keep in mind that your prior history of behavior will be considered in whether or not to block you, and that any blocks subsequent to this one are likely to be longer. On any page that involves Franek I would advise you to not exceed one revert before starting a discussion on the talk page. If the talk page isn't bringing in comments form other people, you can use an RfC or other method to draw in the opinions of additional, uninvolved editors. It is probably in your best interest to stay away from all articles related to language for the time being - you have made valuable contributions to Wikipedia, and it would be sad if you were blocked for an extended period of time over something as small as this. Kevin Gorman (talk) 20:05, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Sobiepan (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Franek K reverted my edits since few days (including breaking the three-revert rule - I have reported him, but he get only a warning), and my comments on talk pages. Today he reverted me on Slavic languages. Why am I punished for his provocations?

Decline reason:

As a procedural note, any block request that focuses on someone else's behavior rather than your own behavior is generally going to be rejected as a matter of course. I blocked you because you, along with Franek, have been editwarring back and forth on a number of pages, engaging in tendentious editing, and engaging in battleground behavior. If you'd like to submit another unblock request that focuses on your behavior, I'll leave it open to be reviewed by another administrator. Kevin Gorman (talk) 20:28, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I have restored and tagged [5] the disputed parts which have been removed [6] already after discussion on Talk:Silesian language started. (a discussion which I have initiated to reach a consensus). Today my edit has been changed and reverted without any explanation on the talk page [7], [8], [9], [10] Just to make it clear. I have not edited the article before, I have only restored the disputed parts.

Decline reason:

You repeatedly made the same (or substantially the same" edit to an article. That is called "edit warring". You were blocked for edit warring. No matter how much you protest that someone else did things that were wrong, or that you think the edit you kept making was justified, edit warring is a reason for being blocked. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:50, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • I'll leave this one open for a second admin to look over. They are welcome to revise the duration of or completely overturn my block if they find it warranted, without consulting me. I would suggest that in evaluating this request it would be useful to review Sobiepan's interactions with Franek on my talk page, Sobiepan's interactions at Talk:Silesian language, the previous 3rr request (which I had declined to block for, hoping blocks would be avoidable,) Sobiepan's general pattern of recent editing, especially regarding contentious reverts, and Sobie's aggressive language on talk pages. Sobiepan: thank you for your previous valuable contributions to the encyclopedia, and I hope they continue. I'd strongly advise you to look over my previous comment here and consider staying away from language related articles for a bit. Best, Kevin Gorman (talk) 21:22, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

notification of discretionary sanctions

The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions (information on which is at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions) on any editor who is active on pages broadly related to Eastern Europe. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, satisfy any standard of behavior, or follow any normal editorial process. If you inappropriately edit pages relating to this topic, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The Committee's full decision can be read at the "Final decision" section of the decision page.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions, with the appropriate sections of Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Procedures, and with the case decision page before making any further edits to the pages in question. This notice is given by an uninvolved administrator and will be logged on the case decision, pursuant to the conditions of the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions system.

  • Please note: I have imposed an explicit one revert restriction at Silesian language, regardless of the content involved. I will also be sanctioning editors who have received this warning who perform more than one revert per day on any article on Wikipedia if the content they remove (or add) is related to the debate over whether the subject in question should be labelled as the 'Silesian language' or as a dialect.
