Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Allies of World War II

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Disruptive editing and edit war. The Banner talk 09:54, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. NeilN talk to me 13:02, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Hungarian Turanism

Temporary semi-protection: because of persistent vandalism (mass removal of information) 86.124.220.167 (talk) 11:46, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to me to more in the nature of edit-warring than vandalism. One side (most recently User:Farbentelevision) wants to push it as pseudo-scientific while the other (mostly User:Maghasito) regards it as having some scientific basis. Semi-protection would mean that editors couldn't hide so easily under IP addresses. Nigej (talk) 12:23, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Nigej - it seems to be a long-term conflict; most likely User:Farbentelevision is the same with User:Dosemark, User:Diversitirif and User:Diverser, which reverted Maghasito at the same article in the past and used similar edit summaries ("pseudo-science", "historians geneticists and linguists"). The edit war must stop and a consensus must be reached on the talk page. 86.124.220.167 (talk) 12:46, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And perhaps you are User:Maghasito, hiding under an IP address? Nigej (talk) 13:05, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Fully protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. NeilN talk to me 12:59, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Jimmy John's

    Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. 204.11.75.182 (talk) 13:38, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. NeilN talk to me 13:41, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Madhuri Dixit

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Can we please have indefinite protection now? This article is a regular, almost thrice a day target of vandalism. . —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 13:45, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. IndianBio, your assertions are so far off I'm questioning if you have the right article. NeilN talk to me 14:01, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Stevan Jovetić

Temporary Semi-protection: Constant unsourced transfer speculation since previous protection expired last night. Probably only needs a weekPaul  Bradbury 13:50, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. NeilN talk to me 14:03, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Luca Banti

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This referee was not good yesterday, so there are a few angry fans. Qed237 (talk) 14:18, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 4 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. NeilN talk to me 14:34, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    2016 ICC World Twenty20

Indefinite semi-protection: Vandalism has resumed immediately after the expiry of the previous protection period. Given that this is a high profile article and the vandalism is taking the form of deliberate incorrect information, I think indefinite protection is unfortunately the only option. IgnorantArmies (talk) 14:23, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of until March 11, 2016, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. IgnorantArmies, probably pie-in-the-sky optimism but perhaps constructive edits can occur after tournament starts. NeilN talk to me 14:41, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Mohamed Salah

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Qed237 (talk) 14:31, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    2015–16 FC Barcelona season

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Qed237 (talk) 14:32, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    So Solid Crew

Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Article got some attention in 2012 for having dozens of joke names added to it, and it's never really stopped since. Pending changes has helped, but not every reviewer is aware of the joke, so some edits are waved through in good faith. McGeddon (talk) 14:40, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    List of female supervillains

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – An IP is repeatedly adding huge amounts of characters that in no way match the subject of the list, while deleting all attempts to add valid items or disambiguate items. Edward321 (talk) 14:48, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Arun pudur

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Continued recreation of Arun Pudur by indef banned sockpuppeteer. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 15:33, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Creation protected kelapstick(bainuu) 15:36, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Let It Go (Disney song)

    Semi-protection: Ongoing disruptive edits. Snuggums (talk / edits) 15:38, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Vlad Chiricheș

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Qed237 (talk) 15:42, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    OS X Yosemite

Unprotection: Remember those unsourced content in the history of the article? That was from the "Next OS X" sort of edits. There is already a successor to Yosemite, and the Yosemite article may not need any more protection, as of now. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 23:02, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Materialscientist? --NeilN talk to me 00:01, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Template:Quotation

Indefinite template protection: Highly visible template – Open to editing by template editors. Alakzi (talk) 09:41, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
