CJ E&M Music Performance Division (Hangul:CJ E&M 음악공연사업부문 CJ E&M eumak gongyeon saeopbumun), also known as CJ E&M Music and Live (or Music·Live) (formerly known as Mediopia Technology Corp., GM Agency Co. Ltd., CJ Music Inc. and Mnet Media Corp.), is a South Korean entertainment company established by CJ Group subsidiary CJ E&M.[1] The company operates as a entertainment company, talent agency, music production company, event management, concert production company, music publishing house and television production company.

The company current is home to artists such as SG Wannabe, Davichi, Baek Ji-young, Roy Kim, Son Ho-young, Hong Dae-kwang, Park Bo-ram, Eric Nam, Heize, Minzy, Kim So Hee and formerly to pioneering artists TURBO, SeeYa, Lee Hyori, Yoon Jong Shin, I.O.I.

CJ E&M Music won the "Music Distributor of the Year" trophy at the 3rd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards in 2014.[2]

Business

The CJ E&M Music Performance Division consists of five divisions:

  • Music – entertainment management (music planning and development, production and sales, concerts, etc.)
  • Broadcasting – variety program production, owns 2 music cable channels Mnet and KMTV.
  • Online music content – runs online music store Mnet.com
  • ASP – Naver, LG Telecom mobile music content provider
  • Artist management – artist management and support

In 2012 CJ E&M launched a joint venture with Taiwanese firm Cayenne Entertainment Technology Co. to distribute video games.[1]

In 2014, CJ E&M launched a joint venture with Japan's Victor Entertainment, called CJ Victor Entertainment.[3]

In 2015, CJ E&M acquired Hip Hop label Hi-Lite Records [4]

In 2016, CJ E&M acquired shares and formed a Strategic Alliance/Partnership with AOMG.[5][6]

CJ E&M Music (then Mnet Media) was one of the 15 companies fined and sued by the Korean FTC for price rigging in 2011.[11]
