Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Semi-protection: Page is frequently being vandalized by user who keeps adding non-existing cast members and keeps adding blank references in place of actual sources. Zucat (talk) 19:50, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. @Zucat: Semi-protecting the page will not resolve the issue, the user is auto-confirmed. The edit is not vandalism, it may be dubious or incorrect but it is an attempt to improve the article, so not vandalism. I suggest you try to discuss this with them on the talk page of the article or on their talk page, I don't see an attempt to do so yet, please bear in mind the user is trying to help. Fish+Karate 13:57, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Semi protection is not stopping these accounts from making disruptive edits and adding unsourced content. My only idea on a solution is possibly extended confirmed protection. . { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 02:48, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    • I've moved from the "request for reduction" section, since it actually seems to be requesting Extended-Confirmed, NOT the semi-protect stated at the start and is what it's currently on (please move back if I've judged that wrongly) Nosebagbear (talk) 08:45, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection Repeated IP vandalism. PohranicniStraze (talk) 05:32, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Carl Tristan Orense 07:36, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Likely collateral damage as one or several users who are making improvements would be affected by the requested protection. Most of the IP edits are not disruptive, they are well-meaning attempts to improve the article, many of which have done so. Fish+Karate 08:38, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Low level but persistent IP vandalism, which is very difficult to detect and to unravel. See e.g.:

Richard Lee and Chandra Gupta are DAB pages; which is why, being a DABfixer, I keep falling across the page. I have just wasted yet another half an hour plus on it, in addition to time spent previously. By its nature, it should be fairly stable. I suggest reverting all the way back to this edit by 2001:16B8:28F5:E600:9142:3AB7:BF0E:5AA4 on 29 Dec 2018, which looks sound. I don't think that would remove many if any good edits; but leave that chore to whoever considers this request.

I am bored with the way this page keeps appearing on my radar . Narky Blert (talk) 09:27, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Suddenly this page is attracting a lot of attention... https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=spinel&geo=US. Pelirojopajaro (talk) 10:29, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Fish+Karate 14:38, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – vandalism by multiple users. Jeb3Talk at me hereWhat I've Done 12:33, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Already protected by administrator Cordless Larry. Fish+Karate 14:39, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced information including producers as the album is due to be released this week. Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ) 13:37, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Experiencing high level of vandalism and is today's Featured Article. Enwebb (talk) 14:33, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:06, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This intense CFB rivalry game will played in less than two weeks and the annual influx of unhelpful IP edits has already begun. As in years past, protecting the article for a few weeks would be helpful. Zeng8r (talk) 15:02, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism. Mikemyers345 (talk) 15:11, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. CLCStudent (talk) 15:34, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed: Persistent sockpuppetry. Dino245 (talk) 15:37, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Remove semi protection from the draft as it is just a draft and more editors will then be able to improve the draft to become an article 100.8.170.166 (talk) 04:35, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

"Israeli military activities in the Gaza Strip remained unchanged following adoption of the resolution" needs a marker: citation needed. AmbroseVenture (talk) 18:42, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"On 28 March, the IDF shot and killed two unarmed men in central Gaza, before burying them in sand with bulldozers.[397]" needs to be altered, the source gives two contradicting stories which CNN (the source) didn't clear up. In the article AJ argues without evidence the two videos they present are from the same people, the IDF tells those were two separate incidents. This has to be cleared up to remain factual. Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason. It looks like this: Example (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) your request here. ~~~~
