MTV Portugal is the localized version of MTV for Portugal. It replaced the European feed of MTV in July 2003. The majority of MTV Portugal's programming is from MTV Europe and MTV US with localized subtitles and dubbing. The channel was launched in Portugal with the support of public broadcaster, RTP. It broadcasts from the UK to avoid the strict rules of television regulation in Portugal, such as the ones imposed to the creations of new channels that broadcast from Portugal.
