Overview
Bade Achhe Lagte Hain is the story of two strangers, Priya and Ram who are poles apart from each other, their personalities and lifestyles being too different. But, as fate had, they get married and eventually fall in love.[2]
Plot
Ram's younger stepsister, Natasha, and Priya's younger brother, Kartik, fall in love and wish to get married. But Kartik wants Priya to get married first and both of their families recommend that Ram should marry Priya. Nevertheless, a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings, destiny contrives once again to get the two married. Ram and Priya slowly start developing feelings for each other through the small but significant moments they share together. But Sid, Ayesha and Niharika want to see Priya out of their lives.
Meanwhile, Natasha struggles to adjust living with a middle-class life, after marrying Kartik, but soon comes to love the family and hold close the affection they shower over her. She gets pregnant and aborts her child thinking that it would affect her career, without telling her family about this. However, Ayesha and Priya get to know that. Ayesha blackmails her while Priya keeps shut, as Ram would not be able to withstand the news.
Two mysterious women from Ram's past, Apeksha Malhotra and Krishna Kapoor, enter their lives; the suspicion drives Priya and Ram apart. Unable to take the pain, Ram finally reveals that Apeksha is his step sister and Krishna is his actual mother, whom he hates because he believes she eloped with another man, leaving his father to die.
Priya finally realizes that she has fallen in love with Ram. Ram too realizes the same. While, Ayesha is excites for the fashion show, in which as per Natasha's promise she is made the showstopper. But Natasha has other plans in store and is still raging with revenge, so, she plans a malfunction for Ayesha. Ayesha meets with a malfunction on the ramp and the entire disgracing the families, especially the Sharma's and Priya. Ram goes on to comfort Priya. Ram cannot hold back any longer and tells Priya that he loves her and they both consummate their marriage.[6][7]
Their relationship blossoms. Priya surprises Ram with a statue of his father while Ram gives his business property in Priya's name. Ram gets emotional and their bond grows stronger. Meanwhile, Niharika has other plans to get Priya out of the house by working on Natasha, as Ram was forgetting about her and always thinks about Priya. With all fights happening in the Sharma family Natasha finally leaves the house. But Niharika beats her making her face worse and makes her lie that Kartik has beaten her. Kartik tells all truth to Priya but Ram is nowhere to believe him. Natasha's complaint puts the Sharmas in jail. Ram then bails out Ayesha, Sudhir and Shipra but not Kartik. Hence Priya bails Kartik and convinces Ram to talk with him. She also gets to know the truth about Niharika's plans from Natasha, who is in turn sent far away in a village by Niharika. Thus, the police again take Kartik under custody on charges of kidnapping Natasha. Natasha find out how her husband Kartik is again put in jail and hence she tries to escape, but fails.
Priya who is curious about Niharika's past, calls Krishna (Ram's biological mother). Krishna gives contact of a man named, Dr. Jayesh Karekar. After a lot of search, Priya finds Jayesh who reveals that Niharika was his wife and they had kids, Sid and Ishika. But as she wanted more money she tricked Ram's father Amarnath Kapoor into marrying her and divorces Jayesh. He also reports that he was falsely accused in a medical racket by Niharika and her brother, due to which he was forced to change his identity and name, from Dr. Jayesh Karekar to Dr. Patil, to continue his medical career. Jayesh advices Priya to get away from Ram's life and his family, only then she'll be able to expose Niharika's dark ways and Priya heeds Jayesh's advice (and soon creates a smart plan in her mind). Kartik is released from the jail while Natasha is brought back. Ram's health worsens as he is unable to live without her beloved Priya. He stops interacting with others and also going to office. Thus, Niharika is forced to bring Priya back home and asks Priya to create hate in Ram's heart for herself (that's for Priya). So, Priya asks for divorce but as Priya thought, Ram disagrees. While, Natasha agrees to come back in Kartik's home leaving Niharika helpless and everything goes on as Priya wants.
