Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: Page is a target for trade speculation by IP's. Reccomend semi-protection until the start of the football season, maybe longer. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 06:46, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) Suggest semi-protection for around 4 days, which is two days after the season starts (on 18 August 2012). Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 07:26, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: A particular IP user is constantly reverting edits without any valid reasons, therefore please semi-protect for some time.--♥ Kkm010 ♥ ♪ Talk ♪ ߷ ♀ Contribs ♀ 05:10, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Already protected. Lectonar (talk) 06:55, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection: IP user edit warring over the past several days. He has been reverted by at least 3 different editors, and has even exceeded 3RR within a 24 hour period (reinserts Vadum comment: [1], [2], [3], [4]). Rather than drop a hammer on him at the editwar noticeboard, I'd first like to nudge him over to the Talk page with a semi-protect; he has refused discussion thus far. Xenophrenic (talk) 04:48, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 36 hours, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 07:22, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: A certain anonymous user with a constantly changing IP address (known to use IP ranges 71.191.*.*, 96.231.*.*, and 96.241.*.*, as well as a variety of sockpuppets) is in a revert war with me over their attempt to start a general discussion of the article's subject in spite of an indefinite topic ban which they've earned many times over. Move protected for 10 days, which is about how long a RM should take. After I made the protection I noticed that I had participated in a RM for this article last year and voted in support of the current title, so another admin may want to check over this just in case. Semi-protection Disruptive editing The page was semi-protected for three days because an IP kept inserting a false statement basing it on an unreliable YouTube file. Now that the semi is expired, the same IP is back doing the same thing. Perhaps, a longer semi-protection might send him/her away for good.--Harout72 (talk) 19:57, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The statement is not false. The editor above resorts to borderline hysterical allegations in order to justify page protection instead of incorporating the info in some form. Sadly, the editor's blatant foul play seems to find encouragement despite his not so crafty manipulations.99.141.246.141 (talk) 21:00, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not only have you already violated the WP:3RR for one day, but each time you insert that statement supporting it with this YouTube file, you also violate WP:RSE.--Harout72 (talk) 23:20, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you are so by the book as you say you are, then how can you *arbitrarily* treat one youtube file as a hard evidence while another one as a fabrication?99.141.252.82 (talk) 01:35, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

Temporary semi-protection: There was some edit-warring between a regular editor and an IP. There was then a disagreement between the regular editor and an admin about how the MOS violation by the IP should be handled, but the Film Project believes semi-protection would be preferable to full protection (see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film#Chinatown). I am requesting that the protection level is downgraded to semi. Betty Logan (talk) 20:09, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Sustained disruptive activity by IP socks. Betty Logan (talk) 20:03, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Please lock until official statement is made. . JMHamo (talk) 19:14, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) I second this. I am literally battling through many users on 3 pages over this issue. At least fully-protect Van Persie till Man United confirm the deal. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 19:27, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
