Checked it! The citations are good enough. Not very specific but they are the best ones you can find for an academician in Nepal. Enough to support the claim of notability. Besides as I myself have been in the education sector of Nepal for the past 15 years, I assure you that the person mentioned in the article is one of the most influential man in Nepalese education. Also it is worth mentioning that nominating the article of such an important person for deletion is inappropriate.

Guidelines for projects

The project might get more members if it is known to exist. I am adding it to the WikiProject geographical directory, so with any luck more people will see it. However, you might try to format the page in such a way as to more clearly state the project's specific objectives. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide might help you there as well. Best of luck in this endeavor. Badbilltucker 19:56, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Project directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 15:06, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:32, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yomari article up for deletion

The above named article is currently a candidate for speedy deletion. If any member of this project can add information which can verify its importance or significance please do so at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yomari (2nd nomination). Badbilltucker 17:56, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bilateral relations discussion

I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:09, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed about the succession to the Nepalese throne

In 2006 the Nepalese government proposed adopting equal primogeniture. This would have meant that the eldest child of the monarch, regardless of gender would inherit. For this to come into affect it would have to be approved by the parliament (House of Representatives). There's a lot of confusion about this. Did the parliament approve the new succession law last year or did they reject it? We can't find any articles saying whether the parliament/House of Representatives approved the bill or rejected it. Can someone from Nepal clarify this situation? Expert help needed! (From discussions on Talk:Prince Hridayendra of Nepal) FrinkMan 11:57, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Parliament couldn't have approved, if the Prime Minister called for the King & crown prince to abdicate in favour of the prince. If the Parliament had approved, then the PM would've called for the dual abdication in favour of the princess. GoodDay 22:02, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, but there is also the possibility that the PM simply voiced his own opinion. But anyway, an article about whether the parliament/House of Representatives approved the bill or rejected it would be nice. Help is needed from someone that can speak/read Nepalese! Nepal at FAR

Nepal has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. yak-cattle hybrids

Hi, I think there may be a problem at dzo. In 2005, someone added that in Nepal, Yak-Cattle hybrids are called khainag, plus some stuff about what the descendants of such hybrids may be called. I know for sure that khainag is the Mongolian term for this kind of hybrid, and it would seem rather strange if Nepalis had exactly the same word for this, so I suppose this particular edit may have been mistaken. Can someone please look into this? Thanks a lot, Yaan (talk) 18:16, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! Articles flagged for cleanup

Currently, 562 articles are assigned to this project, of which 119, or 21.2%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 14 July 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Nepal

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! Help request: 188 Nepal-related articles needing geographical coordinates

Based on a search of Wikipedia's articles related to Nepal, I've found some articles that I believe are about places in Nepal, and could usefully have geographical coordinates added.

The articles in question are listed in Category:Nepal articles missing geocoordinate data. At the time of writing, some examples included:

  1. Bhote Koshi Project
  2. Gosaikunda
  3. Ilam District
  4. Kodhiyar
  5. Mechinagar
  6. Phaplu Airport
  7. Simikot Airport

...and there are many more, as well. At the time of posting this notice, there were 188 articles in this category needing geographical coordinates.

Why add coordinates?

By adding coordinates, a Wikipedia reader can easily view the location on a street map, nautical chart, topographic map, by satellite photo, realtime weather map, and in many other ways. Coordinate data makes an article eventually appear in various services such as Google Maps' Wikipedia overlay, Google Earth, and Wikipedia's own internal map service. Coordinate data also helps readers looking for geographically-based data, such as locations near a reference point, or related information.

How can I do it?

The articles are all marked with {{coord missing}} tags, which need to be replaced with {{coord}} tags that contain the location's latitude/longitude coordinates; or you might be able to add coordinates to an existing infobox. You can find out how to do this at the Wikipedia:Geocoding how-to for WikiProject members. Please let me know if this is useful, or if I can help in any way. -- The Anome (talk) 22:53, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:07, 28 February 2009 (UTC) [reply]

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Translation help?

Someone created a section at Talk:Homosexuality in what we think is Nepali. If anyone reading this could translate (or even give an overview) of what is being said in this section, it would be appreciated! LadyofShalott 04:15, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP 1.0 bot announcement

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Unreferenced living people articles bot

User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects provides a list, updated daily, of unreferenced living people articles (BLPs) related to your project. There has been a lot of discussion recently about deleting these unreferenced articles, so it is important that these articles are referenced.

The unreferenced articles related to your project can be found at >>>Wikipedia:WikiProject Nepal/Unreferenced BLPs<<<

If you do not want this wikiproject to participate, please add your project name to this list.

Thank you.

Update: Wikipedia:WikiProject Nepal/Unreferenced BLPs has been created. This list, which is updated by User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects daily, will allow your wikiproject to quickly identify unreferenced living person articles.
There maybe no or few articles on this new Unreferenced BLPs page. To increase the overall number of articles in your project with another bot, you can sign up for User:Xenobot_Mk_V#Instructions.

Nepal articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Nepal articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

As in "Dundwa Range" or "Dundwa Hills", the Chure between Deukhuri and U.P. (Balrampur and Shravasti). I am seeing it romanized as "Dundwa" in geology articles, mostly written by foreigners. Narayan Gopal

Hi, currently I am working on the article on Narayan Gopal, which seems to be quite popular, looking at the article history. However, I find it quite difficult to get my hands on good references or any archival material. Any help in finding out references and filling in the necessary citations would be greatly appreciated.

I am also working on covering other artist, musicians, and writers of note from Nepal. Anyone interested?

Restructuring and Expanding "Human Trafficking in Nepal"

I want to notify the members of WikiProject Nepal for my proposed rewriting of the article "Human Trafficking in Nepal", and invite comments and suggestions!

Human trafficking is a serious problem around the world, but it is particularly rampant and notable in Nepal. With increasing international attention, the need for reliable, accessible information has become even greater. The public should have access to credible, non-sensationalized information in an organized, professional format that looks critically at the issue from multiple angles, but the current Wikipedia page on "Human trafficking in Nepal" is flagged for inadequate objectivity, citations, and Wikification. I plan on restructuring and editing the article to objectively explore the realities of trafficking in Nepal, causes and drivers on both the supply and demand sides, interventions from the Nepali government, the international community, and NGOs, and roadblocks and success of these efforts. Such a pressing issue in Nepal deserves informed dialogue rooted in evidence, and hopefully this edited article will be an important step toward this direction.

Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks! Jennyxwen (talk) 23:00, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Restructuring "Prostitution in Nepal"

With this entry, I wish to inform the members of WikiProject Nepal of my proposal to restructure the page "Prostitution in Nepal," in order to provide more clarity on this issue. Any comments are welcome and suggestions for sure.

First off, the issue with Prostitution vs. Sex Work is one that is becoming more widely debated globally, and this is the recent case in Nepal. For this reason, I propose to change the nature of this page, by first altering the title to "Sex Work in Nepal." The article "Human Trafficking in Nepal" will already touch on the sex trafficking aspect of prostitution, so I wish to provide the other side of this issue by presenting the voluntary sex work seen throughout Nepal. The distinction between prostitution and sex work, although both are illegal, is an issue that many are fighting to make. I wish to provide an account of this sex work, by first providing the causes for the voluntary sex work, and then by exploring the effects of sex work on many different aspects of life, both on an individual and on a more national level. To clarify, I will link this article to the "Human Trafficking in Nepal" article, so that the reader may also see the trafficking side of this sex work. I only wish to provide the voluntary aspect that many are arguing does exist.

As I stated earlier, any questions, comments, or suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Natashacruz12 (talk) 06:37, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ran across this article Unified Nepal National Front, and had to remove a lot of POV fluff, nationalist sloganing, etc. That said, it appears this group has been discussed in the news, so should be referenceable. Martyrs of Nepal, other stuff

  • I think Martyrs of Nepal is an important topic that requires some more coverage. I started a basic page, but could use more input on the topic. The individual pages of most of the martyrs are in disarray and a lot of associated historical pages are either absent or in bad condition.
    • The Rana dynasty has a list of many family members linking back to the page. We can be opinionated about their actions, but they too have a place in history as former Prime Ministers. It would be nice if someone could upload basic biographies/pictures for them, to be expanded on by other users.
  • Speaking of pictures, we need a lot more, especially for People and Places. (It really doesn't help that Nepali websites do not have a clear copyright policy. I spent an hour looking for an image of the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, with Creative Commons or similar policy, then I gave up.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Francispontifex (talkcontribs) 14:12, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

This article has been moved, both correctly and incorrectly, between a variety of names: using "v" or "bh" and with or without the "w" as penultimate letter. Back in December 2014 it was cut-and-paste moved, and I think I have successfully repaired the damage. I don't know what the correct title should be - is there a list of the definitive English spellings of Nepali districts?

I notice that in the template {{Districts of Nepal}} it is displayed as "Kabhrepalanchok", and piped to "Kavrepalanchok District" which is now a redirect to Kavrepalanchowk District (although as I type it's currently a double redirect through Kabhrepalanchok District).

Someone who knows about Nepal district names might like to sort it out? PamD 17:25, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see that the category is Category:Kavrepalanchowk District, but with a note saying that the main article on the topic is at Kavrepalanchok District. (Currently a double redirect, as above). PamD 17:29, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have proposed a page move - see Talk:Kavrepalanchowk District. PamD 07:59, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi PamD thanks for correcting the name of Kavrepalanchok (in Nepali "काभ्रेपलान्चोक"). In Nepal "v" or "bh" are used for Devnagari letter "भ" but for last two words "चोक" we use "chok", there no use of "w". so "Kavrepalanchowk" is totally wrong. - Nirmal Dulal (talk) 15:06, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Auto-assessment of article classes

Following a recent discussion at WP:VPR, there is consensus for an opt-in bot task that automatically assesses the class of articles based on classes listed for other project templates on the same page. In other words, if WikiProject A has evaluated an article to be C-class and WikiProject B hasn't evaluated the article at all, such a bot task would automatically evaluate the article as C-class for WikiProject B.

If you think auto-assessment might benefit this project, consider discussing it with other members here. For more information or to request an auto-assessment run, please visit User:BU RoBOT/autoassess. This is a one-time message to alert projects with over 1,000 unassessed articles to this possibility. ~ RobTalk 01:16, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please will someone add the "Gregorian" (ie Western-style) dates to Moonlight English Boarding School? WP:MOSNUM states A date can be given in any appropriate calendar, as long as it is (at the minimum) given in the Julian calendar or the Gregorian calendar or both, as described below. For example, an article on the early history of Islam may give dates in both Islamic and Julian calendars. Thanks. PamD 07:41, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

BaralSir (talk) 05:23, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
