KZZO (The Zone) is a Modern adult contemporary radio station in Sacramento, CA, with a dial position of 100.5 FM.

At 115 kilowatts, KZZO is one of the most powerful FM radio stations in Northern California, and can be received in the California Central Valley from as far south as Modesto, CA to just north of Chico, California, as well as the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east, and the Coast Ranges to the west.

The 100.5 frequency was formerly known as KQPT "The Point" from 1988 to 1997. Prior to that, the station was a long-time religious outlet with the KEBR call letters.

Outlaw Scandal

In April 2008, The Zone began a contest in which a listener would be required to correctly identify a member of the radio staff as an "Outlaw" in order to receive a monetary prize of $25,000. The Zone leaked what it called "fake contest" rules which led many to believe the prize was $3,400 in a 10 year share certificate from a Sacramento bank instead of a cash reward of $25,000. After listeners began to criticize the station, The Zone launched an attack on other radio stations and listeners as part of a publicity stunt, while quietly re-writing the rules to yield a cash prize of $25,000. Officials from parent company CBS Radio refused to comment on the situation.
