He is the towns first openly gay mayor, one of the most popular gay mayors in America [8], his town is Broward County. He is also quite controversial, paying his daily expenses (including highly inflated real estate properties) with campaign money [9] [10] , not to mention a controversy with bail bondsman lobbyists who have gotten him to change legislation he previously wrote, then voted down a few years later on Pre-Trial Release [11]. Anne Bolling Randolph was a descendant of Pocahontas through Robert Bolling II and Anne Cocke. She married William Fitzhugh, delegate to Continental Congress in 1779, and last person George Washington visited before he died in 1799. They were parents to Mary Lee Fitzhugh Custis, wife of George Washington Parke Custis, the founder of Arlington Cemetery, and parents to Mary Anna Randolph Custis, who married Robert E. Lee, Confederate general.
