Kya Huaa Tera Vaada meaning What about your promise is an Indian Television drama series that premiered on January 30, 2012 on Sony TV and airs every Mon-Thu 10 pm[1]. The series is produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.
Plot
Kya Huaa Tera Vaada is the story of Pradeep Singh and Mona Singh a young couple who live in Mumbai with their three children, Bulbul(9 years old), Rano(7 years old) and Rajbeer(5 years old)[2]. The plot revolves around their lifes 12 years after their marriage. In these years they have dealt with several situations together. Pradeep decided to step out of his father's business and house and buys his own flat and works as a serviceman while Mona is his homemaker and also looks after their kids[2]. Between all their work they try their best to find time for each other but every time, their children, is what creates a wedge between them[2].
Pradeep, looses his job. But, as fate would have it the company where he worked is taken over by a lady. That lady gives Pradeep his job back and Pradeep realizes the she is his ex-girl friend, Anushka. Pradeep wanted to marry her but since Anushka wanted to concentrate on her career they had to part ways. Now she wants Pradeep back. She makes Mona realize that she has a boyfriend whom she wants to marry so that Mona does not doubts her and poor Mona thinks the man to be Vineet, Anushka's best friend. Vineet refuses to help Anushka in this matter. She leaves no stone unturned to get Pradeep back in his life[3]. She promotes him and gives him every thing he ever wanted. She also forces him to get into bed with her. Pradeep's mother gets to know that Anushka one studied in Pradeep's college but Pradeep changes the topic by saying that she in not the one he loved. Pradeep starts to spend more time with Anushka forgetting about his family and starts falling in love with her.
The story goes on taking some months' leap and after a few months, Pradeep realizes and finally confesses his love for Anushka [4]to his family and plans to break his and Mona's marriage[3]. He also leaves their house and starts living with Anushka while Mona too leaves her beloved house and takes shelter in her parents' house[3]. Mona's parents afraid of the society and refuse to help Mona. Mona tries her best to get him back but in vain[5]. Pradeep leaves his house and starts living with Anushka[6]. Mona decides and tries to commit suicide [7] [6]thinking that after her death Pradeep would take care of their children but Pradeep's mother, Suhasi stops her and explain to her the importance of a wife and also tells her that she would make Pradeep realize the importance of a wife in a man's life and make Anushka realize that what is a concubine and what is true love. In this mission she is helped by her children, Suhasi, her mother-in-law and mainly by Pammi and Suri[3][6].
Pradeep sends Mona divorce papers [5] but she asks that her chilfren may stay with Pradeep so Pradeep along with Anushka or Anu shifts to his house, which he and after him Mona left, while Mona starts staying just opposite to that house in Pammi and Surinder's apartment as a paying guest. Anushka struggles a lot to adjust to living with the children, who leave no stone unturned to disturb her. The other colony residents also help her and sometimes they bring war of words between Anu and Pradeep.
Mona reaches Delhi, with one of her friends, and seeks help from Mrs. Devashree Sarkar, a socialist of Nari Shakti Mandal, who is actually Anu's mother and is unaware that her daughter herself is the second woman in Pradeep's life. While, Anu and the children start having issues with each other. Soon, the Nari Shakti Mandal reach Pradeep's house and publicly humiliate Anu by making her wear "garland of shoes" and blackening her face. And Anushka's mother who accompanies them, getting to know the truth that she is her daughter, is heartbroken and tries her best to make Anushka realize her fault, but in vain, thus, she leaves heartbroken, but at the same time she is thankful to Mona to get to know the truth and her daughter's dos. She brings in new situations to keep Mona's children away from her and to take revenge but always in vain. Thus, the story at present (since Pradeep left Mona) revolves that how Mona's children and others, like her mother-in-law, try their best to realize Anu her fault and get Mona, her husband, Pradeep, back.
Main Characters
- Mona Singh (Mona Singh)
Mona is a Middle Class woman who loves her husband and children. She is the perfect wife and a mother. She leads a simple life with Pradeep and their children. Mona takes most of the responsibilities of running the house. She helps Pradeep in time of trouble she has saved him many times from many troubles. Once he went to bar so soon he was as to arrested but Mona's phone saved him from that trouble.
- Pradeep Singh (Pawan Shankar)
He has a job he isn’t satisfied with, his only goal in life is to get that promotion for a better living style. He is always running short when it comes to providing for the family, financially. He loves his kids. He hates his immediate boss who is a bully by nature. He is secretive about his life. But to the world, he is mostly a fly on the wall.
- Anushka Sarkar (Mauli Ganguly)
Anushka was an ex-girl friend of Pradeep. Pradeep wanted to marry her but due to some problems it could not be possible. After 12 years Anushka becomes Pradeep's boss.

Replacement
Kya Hua Tera Vaada was to air at the time of Saas Bina Sasural which decided to end the serial but at last moment Saas Bina Sasural changed its airing time to Monday to Friday at 9:00 PM (IST)[1].
So "Kya Hua Tera Vaada" replaced Saas Bina Sasural in terms of timings on 30th January 2012[1].
