Hi Maproom}} ::Maproom |

::Dismas . I think I may have responded the wrong way. Sorry about that. I asked some questions about citations, referencing and what to do if articles exist but not online. How do I add those? I also gave examples of reputable sources and magazine articles for both Ms.Fontaines and James Duvals action figure Donny Darko Bunny. I wasn't clear on if they are added via a link and how to categorize them. One of the articles featuring Ms. Fontaines in INSTYLE MAGAZINE INSTYLE MAGAZINE . There are others I can try to inquire on getting photographs of the many pages that are not available online. A Donny Darko James Duval article discussing the action figure ATX Music Magazine. Donny Darko Bunny Action Figure played by James Duval. What is more important and what is the difference between a citation and reference? How do I place them on the page. Also. Where can I work on the page I started for Ms.Fontaines and build on it. I can't find it anywhere. I find it challenging to navigate and I get lost. Thanks Thanks Thanks Venus2211 (talk) 07:59, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211 |

Getting #if to work
For [1]. The later revision works fine when the second parameter is supplied. The former revision is supposed to allow it to work without a second parameter (the url should end with the ".php", and the generated anchor should not have the "Number ..."), but it doesn't work at all. What am I doing wrong?
I moved the non-working revision to /sandbox0. Here are test cases:

- I think maybe what I am trying to do in impossible. I thought of a hack though: Just default the second parameter to something which isn't an anchor on the destination pages. So there will be a vestigial "#..." muddying up the url, but the link will still just go to the top of the appropriate page as intended. I would still love suggestions for something prettier. --Atethnekos (Discussion, Contributions) 02:42, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

How to appeal against an administrator's actions?
DragonflySixtyseven has read my personal submission in my personal sandbox on HOW the WORD Sanctuality was created, its history to a degree and its meaning in complete. As a consequence of Sanctuality also being a free organisation run by ME alone to help people out of poverty, to help them in court cases and to help children and vulnerable adults suffering or experiencing abuse, trafficking and other human rights violations, the very least I expected was DragonflySixtyseven to REVIEW my submission and offer feedback with a caution to change unsuitable material, or the submission would be deleted or I could risk my page being deleted.
As someone that contributes financially to Wikipedia I have never made a literary contribution and depend on those who work for Wikipedia to show a logical, fair and balanced approach to submissions being reviewed and then give fully and appropriate feed back.
This form of dictatorship is beyond words, that I created the word Sanctuality in 1995, then went on to explain what it means with brief historical reference, omitting that it was in part due to a famous song 'She sells sanctuary' and me mishearing it and hence its creation to prevent myself getting into trouble for citing a band, only to have my whole account DELETED without any form of appeal or second opinion. No opportunity to change my sandbox submission, no guidance, no support, no help. Just deleted account for the meaning of a new word! The meaning is neither offensive nor derisive but as with all new words its entry into society depends upon its overall public usage, were here, Wikipedia judge DragonflySixtyseven, has made his or her ruling even though Wikipedia state that the sandbox is a safe place to enter your submissions on potential content for the page.
I shall no longer be funding Wikipedia in the future as I have lost faith that an organisation can be so misleading and dictatorial to this degree without any recourse. I've no doubt that there's millions or organisations on Wikipedia, demonstrating their history etc, they should all be removed, let's start with McDonald's, Apple and others!
Remember this is information that was never published and was placed into the sandbox for advice on it's content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.12.162.41 (talk) 13:43, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hey. Sorry for the inconvenience. You'll note that the block message said "a Wikipedia account is to be used by only one person, and is not to be used to represent an organization as a whole. You are all welcome to create individual accounts" -- this was because the sandbox page seemed to imply that the account was being used by the Sanctuality organization as a whole, which is not allowed. Certainly you personally are welcome to edit Wikipedia, either with or without a registered account; this also applies to every other person in Sanctuality (barring, of course, sanctions which may be taken against individuals for inappropriate behavior!). If the account was not being used by Sanctuality as a whole, but only by one individual person, well, I'm sorry, but there was no way for me to know that, because the account name was the organization name.
- Furthermore, you'll note that the deletion message said "regrettably, this is not an appropriate use of a userpage. Wikipedia is not a free webhost for your organization". "Regrettably" means "I'm really sorry about this"; "not a free webhost for your organization" means that, in my judgment, what you submitted was basically what would be on Sanctuality's "about us" page on the official Sanctuality website. We can't allow that; if we did, Wikipedia sandboxes would quickly fill up with all kinds of stuff - home pages for organizations, people storing their fiction and blogs, advertising schemes... I've been doing this for a while, I see a lot of stuff. We're very permissive about what you can do in your sandbox, but we're not absolutely totally permissive; there have to be limits somewhere, even if only for the stuff that's legally problematic (and your content was not legally problematic, so don't worry about that!).
- I'd also like to point out that the Sanctuality organization may be good and worthy, but as far as I can tell, it does not yet meet our criteria for notability. This is not intended as an insult; I'm sure Sanctuality will eventually achieve notability, but at this point that does not seem to be the case. Have patience, and bear in mind our guidelines on conflict of interest.
- Lastly, please do allow me to apologize for having upset you. DS (talk) 14:15, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi there. As User:DragonflySixtyseven mentions above there is no way for him to know that this account in particular wasn't used by the organization, and that the intention wasn't to promote that organization. This is unfortunately a quite common scenario here at Wikipedia and usually results in the page being speedily deleted for being too promotional and the user blocked.
- If you want to contribute to Wikipedia and promise to stay away from areas where there is a potential conflict of interest I have no problem unblocking you so that you can apply for a username change. I'll also post this plus some additional information on your talkpage, if you have any questions or comments it's probably easier to handle it there. Bjelleklang - talk 20:34, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- I have added a notice to the user talk page that gives both links to the relevant policies such as the username policy and a few ways to proceed. Regarding the block, it's probably easiest to simply create a new account that doesn't give the impression that the account belongs to an organization than to have your current account renamed - you're free to do so right away. An article, whether about the word itself or the organization whose name it is, however, would require reliable sources that are independent of the subject - according to DragonflySixtyseven such sources don't cover the organization in enough detail (yet) for an article, and coverage for the names of organizations usually is much, much rarer than coverage for the organizations themselves. At a glance I found no reliable sources whatsoever that discussed the term. Thus neither the organization nor the term itself seem to make a good topic for an encyclopedia article at the moment. Hiding a page from my watchlist
I want to show changes to a talk page on my watchlist, but hide changes to the article page. Per WP:HIDEPAGES this is possible using CSS. I followed the instructions given there but they did not work. I wonder if it may have something to do with the fact that, when I click the link that says "go to your skin.css page", the page that actually appears is called "vector.css". Thank you, --Viennese Waltz 14:54, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- You need to remove the colon from the title, that is not an allowed character; css is interpreting it as an attribute/value seperator. These should be replaced with underlines, but as the next character is already an underline just delete it. SpinningSpark 16:10, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Worked great, thanks. --Viennese Waltz 17:18, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure of the right forum for this, so I'm coming to the Help desk. The Cerritos College article has had some edits today from three different brand new accounts. My guess is that it is a class project. I recall there being a WP page for this type of editing, but I do not remember where it is or the best way to handle this kind of group editing. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Bahooka (talk) 15:59, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

- User elaborated on my talk page to say that they were talking about the Wikia badge system. (Anyone unsure what that is can see it in the sidebar here: http://wreckitralph.wikia.com/wiki/User:Purplewowies) Unfortunately, Eloguys, we don't have that sort of thing enabled here. Sometimes, if a user notices you are doing something good, they'll give you some WikiLove or a barnstar, but we don't have the achievements extension active here. In fact, I'm not even entirely sure it's a hard-and-fast extension as it's enabled through a special page that itself seems to be enabled through an extension (and Wikia messes with Mediawiki so much I'm almost doubtful it would work here). If you choose to respond to this, please do it here instead of my talk page. - Purplewowies (talk) 05:31, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

References
Hello--
I am working on editing the mirrored-self misidentification page. I have written the entire page and it is now sitting in my sandbox. I am trying to put in all the references and am clicking on the 'cite' button and using the templates to create named references. I have the reflist in double { brackets encoded at the bottom of the page, but no references appear. Can you help me figure out how to fix this? Thank you.

- It has something to do with the name=1 that you have in your reference. (But I don't know why naming the reference would cause a problem.) Remove the name =1 and it will properly generate a reference. RJFJR (talk) 17:12, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Edit Review - Predator Ridge Resort
Hi there,
I am working for Predator Ridge Resort and we have a tag added to the top of our page stating that "This article appears to be written like an advertisement".
I have read through all articles on wikipedia related to this editor tag and have removed all external url's and anything else that could be construed as advertising.
I would like to request to see if someone could please review my article and let me know if we can have the flag removed.
Many thanks, Michelle Beaudry Digital Marketing Manager Wesbild Holdings Ltd. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michb89 (talk • contribs) 19:09, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- You must be joking! "Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful golf courses in Canada", "dramatic elevation changes dotted with beautiful granite outcroppings", "The Predator Course is truly a world class golf experience with rolling hills, long grasses and undulating greens that make for an unforgettable golfing experience", to quote just a few extracts. Also unreferenced. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:22, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) (sort-of) @Michb89: Well, you should probably start by familiarizing yourself with our conflict of interest guidelines. The "It looks like an ad" tag refers to the writing style, not the density of external links. Anyone can add or remove those tags, but given your admitted conflict of interest, I wouldn't recommend doing so yourself, especially since the tag does seem applicable to the prose. --NYKevin 19:28, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
Austin organ page seems suspiciously biased
At the very least it is not well-edited. At worst, parts of the article are effusive enough, or overly subjective, to indicate writing by someone connected to the company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.6.224.105 (talk) 19:12, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Articles that need fine-tuning
Could someone please fix the article called List_of_lesbian_characters_in_animation because I added characters from the List_of_LGBT_characters_in_animation and the page looks messy. Could some fix that? Also I noticed there is/was an empty article called List_of_transgender_characters_in_literature and I transferred info from the List_of_books_featuring_transgender_persons and now that article doesn't look so good to. How about merge the 2 articles together which I don't know how to do? Venustar84 (talk) 20:00, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Note that when you are copying content from one article to another, you need to provide appropriate indication for copyright purposes: Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
- The List_of_lesbian_characters_in_animation table issues has been partially fixed so that it is showing as a table. Can you take care of removing the extra column with "lesbian" or do you need help to fix that as well? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:18, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Can the 2 article titles List_of_books_featuring_transgender_persons and List_of_transgender_characters_in_literature be merged into 1 article or can the title of article be redirected? Because there is no need for 2 separate articles with the same content. Venustar84 (talk) 03:20, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

I recently made some updates to my company’s page (TrueCar) unaware that they would be flagged for neutrality concerns.
The edits that I made were all in regards to data and news updates as it’s been a couple years since the page was updated. I did some investigating and read that the “Talk” section is where I can suggest future edits; can you confirm that? And what can I do about the current header alert?

I've looked over the edits that you made and while they are not promotional, they did change several figures that were cited to various references. Those figures now disagree with what the references say. In order to change the figures in the article, we should also update the references. List of wars and anthropogenic disasters by death toll
In relation to "List of wars and anthropogenic disasters by death toll" It is been edited inconsiderately by adding on the top of the "Wars and armed conflicts" list "Muslim conquest in the Indian subcontinent" based on no reference and no historical events such a big change needs a good reference

- An edit war is under way there. Where 188 writes "based on no reference", he is mistaken; a reference is provided for the contentious material. It is to "Growth of Muslim Population in Medieval India". However its conclusions are unclear, and are of doubtful relevance. Obviously this doesn't prove it, hence the question "do you mean"?, but there are only 4 matches for "L. Royal Christensen", 2 of which relate to this article for creation. Arjayay (talk) 15:52, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- It's not listed under contributions from your current I/P address. So, either you are logged on from a different PC, or you have a dynamic I/P address that changes periodically. (A remote possibility is that it was so offensive your article was excised, along with it's history, but that's obviously not the case here.) I suggest you sign up to get an ID, and also make a copy of anything you write in your own namespace, as overzealous editors often delete new articles before they are completed, because they are "incomplete". StuRat (talk) 15:27, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- There is no deleted article of that name which was my first guess. As to how I found it, I think I checked every namespace in the search. I wasn't particularly expecting to find it in userspace, I was expecting to find it at AFC which is Wikipedia talk space. SpinningSpark 18:23, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Click "Everything" on the search page to search all namespaces. That's one of my steps to find edits a poster claims to have made. Maybe we should have a guide for helpers on how to find alleged edits. My main steps:
- Click "Everything" on the search page to search all namespaces
- Make a Google search with
site:wikipedia.org
to search in all Wikipedia languages - Click "deleted user contributions" at top of their contributions page − only available to admins, others can try checking their talk page for notifications with red links
- Click "filter log" at top of their contributions page
- Click one or more of "Global contributions", "SUL", "accounts" at the bottom right of their contributions page to find edits at other Wikimedia wikis including Commons – assumes you have
en
as language at Special:Preferences, others can add?uselang=en
or&uselang=en
to a url to get English interface messages, or install User:PrimeHunter/English interface.js for a one-click option - Look for a page name at Special:Log/delete
- Admins can also look for deleted page names starting with a given string at Special:Undelete
- Are there other tricks? PrimeHunter (talk) 21:57, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
lies against Islam
Muslim conquest in the Indian subcontinent (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
How come this event(Muslim conquest of the Indian subcontinent) did not show up anywhere all these years and now you come up with this after the book was written by K. S. Lal published in 1973. and with this huge number of deaths 60,000,000[1] 80,000,000[1] and the reference says Historians such as Simon Digby have suggested that the estimate lacks accurate data in pre-census times.
What is wrong with you guys, you put anything just to insult Islam with whatever means you have.
I request the removal of this article and this aberration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.198.33.100 (talk) 17:15, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Salaam , Please signup with Wikipedia and try your hands in editing this exciting Online Encyclopedia. Coming to your question, Wikipedia has nothing to do with any of the religions, it always stresses in Neutral Point of View and so you can just chill down. The estimates as given in the book has no denial in any other books. If you could show a reliable source that puts the number below that or nullifies the claim of K S Lal, we would appreciate it. What then? You can signup as Wikipedian Editor and correct that sentence. Cheers. - Vatsan34 (talk) 17:35, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- The article does not state that there were 80,000,000 deaths - it states that K.S. Lal claimed that "between 1000 CE and 1500 CE, the population of Hindus decreased by 80 million". Such numbers could be entirely due to conversion, or to simple demographic decline - this is a 500-year period. In any case, the article makes it clear that the Lal's figures are disputed. There may very well be problems with the article - we have ongoing problems with partisan editing in articles concerning the Indian subcontinent - but misrepresenting what the article says isn't going to resolve matters. And no, we don't delete articles because a single person doesn't like them. AndyTheGrump (talk) 17:37, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

My Name is under Fabian Christopher ,however there happens to other person with the same name? You have written about yourself on your user page though which you might think is an article but it is not. And as it stands, that text would never be allowed as an article in the main space since it is highly promotional in tone and has no references to third party reliable sources which is what articles here require. Personal attack
Does this count as a personal attack? If so, what is the best place to mention it? Thanks This is Paul (talk) 18:56, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- I would say it does and have left the IP in question a warning notice. No reason to mention it anywhere at this time as, while the IP in question does have an extensive history, none of it is recent, for better or worse.
- If they continue with the personal attacks I would leave them at least one more warning message before escalating things. At that point, you might consider WP:AIV if they seem purely disruptive, or WP:ANI if you want an admin's attention on the situation but the IP is making useful edits as well. Cheers. Edit a Wikipedia Listing
How can we add our listing to this page: List of Internet stations — Preceding unsigned comment added by GraceNetRadio (talk • contribs) 23:20, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- The list is only for subjects with a Wikipedia article so you don't belong there. See also Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:08, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) "you" and others related to the station should not, because you have a conflict of interest and so instead of ever editing directly about your company, you should always make suggestions on the article's WP:TALKPAGE.
- The criteria for being considered to be added to that page are that the station meets Wikipedia's notability requirements and has a dedicated article about the station. That means that you would need to establish that there has been coverage of a significant nature about the station published by third party reliable sources - sources that have a reputation for fact checking, accuracy and editorial oversight, such as major news papers, peer reviewed journal entries or regular books.
- If such coverage exists, the first step would be to gather those reliable sources and make a suggestion using the "articles for creation" process outlined here. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 00:14, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup Not good.
To whom it may concern.
Several weeks ago I bought two cans of Chicken Noodle Soup, I was dissapointed that it had very little flavor. In fact it tasted like someone had pored water into it. I was hungry so I ate it any way even though I couldn't get over the fact that it had NO flavor. All I could think of was "Hey this is Campbells' Soup". "It is the best" but it wasn't. "I am sorry to tell you this but this stuff was bad. There was No taste, and to make matters worst, about one and one half hours later I developed severe runs, so severe that from the time I got the first urge to go, before I could get my slacks pulled down, it was running down my legs. I couldn't make it to the bath room!" and that is right next door to my bed room.) I messed all over my clothes and I couldn't get up, every time I went to get up I would go again and again. I have never had such a reaction from eating anything.
I have the other can sitting on my desk that I would like to send you to check before other people fall severely ill.
It has a date on it of Jan.15, 2016.

False Accusations about Muslims with no PROOF!!!!
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
When reading through this article I figured out that Muslims were accused of killing between 60 million and 80 million people in India. Furthermore; Muslims conquest of the Indian subcontinent was listed on the top of the events making Muslims the biggest murderers through history. Yet all those accusations comes with no real evidences. How can we say that these killings have happened through demographic studies only? Never the less those same demographic studies are considered as inaccurate by many scholars. Thereby, I request that this part must be deleted immediately with a proper apology to the Muslim community throughout the world — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.111.129.178 (talk) 03:03, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

What is an 'AFCH error'???
Hello everyone. I'm just kinda puzzled by a pop-up message appearing on the top right corner every time when I visit a user page (no matter others or mine).
The message says:
- AFCH error: user not listed
- AFCH could not be loaded because "Kou Dou" is not listed onWikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Participants. You can request access to the AfC helper script there.
Though this message vanishes after a single click, it did annoy me as I don't even know what it is and where it is from. Could anyone here please tell me how to remove it?
P.S. I'll upload a screenshot of this message if you need. Thanks in advance. :) --Kou Dou (talk) 06:56, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- I was getting this too, though I'd assumed it was because I'm currently using a PC instead of my own Mac. It relates to WP:AFCH, which I had enabled and forgotten about; disabling it on the gadgets tab of my preferences (it's called "Yet Another AFC Helper Script" there) seems to have solved the problem. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 07:03, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- That's exactly what it means. Kou Dou, you must have clicked the check box next to the Articles for Creation Helper script under the Gadgets tab of your Preferences. If you uncheck it, the message will go away. Or, if you are interested in becoming a reviewer at AFC, you can add your name to the list of participants. Dismas|(talk) 07:34, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- I really appreciate your help, Arms & Hearts and Dismas. I've disabled the option Yet Another AFC Helper Script in the Preferences and the message no longer appears. However it's strange that I'd probably checked the box several weeks ago but the message started popping up only yesterday (maybe the day before yesterday)... anyway, thanks a lot! --Kou Dou (talk) 08:44, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

David Gutierrez Arvidsson
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Gutierrez Arvidsson (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
I wrote an article about David Gutierrez Arvidsson that played for U19 and U21 squad at IFK Göteborg (IFK Göteborg) in 2012-2013. In 2013, David was called 5 times to the First Team in the Swedish Premier League "Allsvenskan" (Allsvenskan), twice to the Swedish Cup (Svenska Cupen) and twice to the Europa League (Europa League) but he was kept in the bench and did not played. However, David did play and made his debut with the First Team at the Costa del Sol Cup in February 2014.
David´s article was deleted on July 22, 2013 by Seraphimblade because it was not "notable".
In March, David started to play with the Utsiktens BK (Utsiktens BK) in the Swedish Division 1 Södra (Swedish Football Division 1 Södra) and he has now played 3 official matches with the Utsikten´s First Team in the Swedish Division 1 Södra (fully professional league).
Can I now publish an article on David without being deleted?

Opening "history" without opening the article
Hi! The "history" of an article shows me very clearly which edits have been made since my last visit, so I know which ones I have to check. This works fine when I check articles on my watchlist, as I always click on "hist". However, sometimes I would like to see an article that is not on my watchlist (because no changes happened the last 30 days) and if I open this article directly, the "updated since last visit" is wiped out. So, my question is, is there any way I can open the history of an article without having to open the article first? Lova Falk talk 08:50, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, put the url of the page into your browser in the form
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Foobar&action=history
replacing Foobar with the title of the article you want. SpinningSpark 09:11, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- If you have Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups enabled (Preferences > Gadgets > Browsing > Navigation popups) you can hover over an article title, producing a popup, then hover over "actions", producing a second popup, and then click on "history" - does this do what you want? - Arjayay (talk) 09:15, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

- One note, your username may not meet Wikipedia's WP:USERNAME policy, in particular the "Promotional names" section. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:01, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- (after edit conflict) You can upload images to Commons:. Commons is a separate project and does not require you to be confirmed first (unlike Wikipedia). All images on Commons can be used on Wikipedia just as if they were here. The advantage of Commons is that the image is also available to all our other language versions and sister projects. However, since the article is about you, you have a conflict of interest and should not edit the page directly. It would be best to post the image on the article talk page first and ask other editors to put it in the article. You can use request edit to attract the attention of another editor. Hello
I'm a college teacher and the subject of article accuracy comes up in my classes when we discuss Wikipedia. I note that certain articles -- the ones on Avian Flu or the Tea Party movement for example -- contain warnings or other suggestions that the article in question needs to be updated or requires additional information.
For years I've been using the Great Chicago Fire article as an example of an article which originally contained several mistakes but has over the years been edited and corrected.
I have taught Chicago History at a local college for a number of years and I can tell you that the article in question still contains a mistake. I tried to correct it but my correction was immediately removed by a Wikipedia editor.
What I'm wondering is why certain articles known to contain issues or known to be in need of updating remain available to the public but as soon as I attempted to make a correction, my change was taken down. I'm not so much concerned with the change I was trying to make -- next time I'll cite a couple of long-standing Chicago history sources for it -- but I'm wondering about the difference in treatment of these various articles.
(Your Wrigley Field article contains the warning that it is written in the tone of a fan publication, for example, but it remains up.)
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lewistully (talk • contribs) 15:23, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

This would seem to be a mistake, I will ask the user why they identified this as vandalism, but you are right that providing references makes you much less likely to be reverted. - I really don't remember why I reverted this edit. Although looking a bit strange replacing two linked items in a list it clearly is no vandalism checking it again. I appologize for that mistake and I have now re-added the changes which have been made by Lewistully to the article. Optimale Gu 16:19, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- To address the general issue, we do not take down articles just because they contain mistakes. Wikipedia is a work in progress and is not yet finished. There are certain categories of pages that can be taken down immediately such as obvious hoaxes, copyright violations, blatant advertising or attack pages. Other types of problem, most often lack of notability, can be taken down after a formal discussion. Articles that have problems such as innacuracies, or dubious information are dealt with by correcting or removing the problem text. However, Wikipedia is written by volunteers and there is no structured allocation of work. Basically, everyone works on what they find interesting. That means that many articles can go for a very long time without the problems being addressed. Many editors notice problems and mark the page with a template, but they may not have the time, skill, or inclination to actually fix it. There are rather fewer actually fixing problems.
- If you see incorrect or dubious information in an article you are perfectly entitled to remove it, even if it has not been tagged (although in most cases it would be polite to tag it first for a while to give editors a chance to respond). When this happens it is the responsibility of the editor wishing to restore the information to provide a citation to a reliable source before restoring. This is covered in one of our core policies: verifiability. SpinningSpark 15:54, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- I think that the discussion of "taking down" something is being used to refer to two different Wikipedia activities. The first is the deletion of articles. As Spinningspark says, certain categories of articles, such as hoaxes, copyright violations, or patent nonsense, can be speedy-deleted. Otherwise articles can be nominated for deletion and deleted after a discussion. However, I think that the original poster was not asking about deletion of an article. He said that his correction to an article had been taken down. That is, his edit had been reverted. I think it has been resolved that that reversion may have been a mistake. "Taking down" an article by deleting it and "taking down" a change to an article by reverting it are two different activities. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:49, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Copyrighted material
Hi
A page I was drafting in my sandbox has been deleted because it was felt that I'd copied a photograph and text from an existing website. This was despite the fact that both (the website and the photograph) are mine: I took the photograph with my own camera; I wrote, registered and uploaded the website which comprises exclusively my text and my photographs (actually, there are two short quotes from novels by J K Jerome and Charles Dickens, but these are acknowledged and neither appeared in the sandbox).
How should I go about using my own material as the basis for a Wikipedia page?
Priestfield Stadium (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 15:58, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- I have added a section heading to separate this from the previous discussion. You need to go to your user talk page and read the messages there. The words in blue are wikilinks to useful information for you to read. They will tell you about copyright violation, and about the processes which copyright owners can use for donating copyrighted material. - David Biddulph (talk) 16:09, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Also, your user name is a clear violation of our user name policy so I suggest that you abandon this account and create a new one that does comply.--ukexpat (talk) 16:24, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- The easiest way forward is to mark the page at http://www.photosunbury.com/lendymemorial4.htm with a free licence notification. That would solve the copyright issue and prove you are indeed the owner of the site. However, this needs to be extensively rewritten to make an acceptable encyclopaedia article. See Wikipedia:Your first article. I can see only one image in the deleted article. This has not been deleted, it still exists at File:Lendy Memorial.jpg. However, there is a discussion Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2014 May 4#File:Lendy Memorial.jpg here on possibly deleting that as well. You should respond at that discussion. You can establish that you own the copyright of the image through the OTRS ticket system. SpinningSpark 16:26, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
exporting print version to MS Word
I have Word 2010. When I want to copy an article, I select all of the print version and paste it to Word to optimize printing it out.
Until a couple days ago. For some reason pics do not show on Word; math /math expressions don't either. They did before and everything was fine but now pictures are just a blank space. I did download a new antivirus, Kapersky, at about the same time. Any other website copies and pastes pics just fine. - IE 11. What do you mean by skin? Chasrob (talk) 03:53, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Chasrob, the skin affects the layout and appearance of the site. If you didn't change any settings, you are probably using Vector.
- If you are having trouble with copying and pasting, there is a "Printable version" you can access on the left site of any page. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 04:59, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, Anon. Unfortunately the printable version is what is giving me problems. It worked fine until a few days ago; I have no problem pasting other photos into word, just Wikipedia. I just installed a new anti virus and thought its clean-up operations messed somehow with my wiki settings... Maybe if I did a system restore to a date before I got the download?
- I had similar problems several years ago, but forgot how I got it fixed. :( Chasrob (talk) 13:29, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, system restore would be an option. I just tried the Vector skin / IE11 combination and the logged out default. They all work fine. Here are some other things you can try:
- Try logging out and copying an article. That will show whether or not there is a problem with your account settings.
- Try using a different PC if you can get access to one. That will show whether your problem is related to your machine (and whether system restore is worth trying)
- Try some different articles at random and/or post the specific articles you are having problems with here for others to try. That will show if it is article related.
- Try a different browser to see if it is related to your browser settings. SpinningSpark 16:50, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

- If you want to upload an image from your computer for use in an article, you must determine the proper license of the image (or whether it is in the public domain). If you know the image is public domain or copyrighted but under a suitable free-license, upload it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of here, so that all projects have access to the image (sign up). If you are unsure of the licensing status, see the file upload wizard for more information. Please also read Wikipedia's image use policy.
- If you want to add an image that has already been uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, add

to the area of the article where you want the image to appear – replacingFile name.jpg
with the actual file name of the image, andCaption text
with a short description of the image. See our picture tutorial for more information. I hope this helps.Template:Z40--ukexpat (talk) 19:01, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Can't find RFC that bot asked me to comment on
Legobot asked me to comment on a Request for Comments on WP:Media copyright questions. However, I can't see an RFC on either the project page or the project talk page. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:26, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- The page history shows the RFC was moved to Wikipedia talk:Non-free content#rfc D64579D. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:47, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you. On the one hand, the move is confusing because apparently the bot was using the original place of the RFC. On the other hand, the RFC is hard for me to understand and has resulted in walls of text. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:08, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Change to the article on 'Positive Christianity"
I have a book to add to the Further Reading section in the "Positive Christianity" article. I am wondering how to enter the book's information in the editing form. - You could post a suggestion to add this on the article talk page - though I doubt that a book published by Tekton Apologetics Ministries [3] would be considered of sufficient academic worth to merit inclusion unless evidence from third-party sources could be provided: e.g. citation of the book in scholarly works. Mistakes on Idaho Congressional Districts page
Hi, I'm not sure how to make Wikipedia changes and don't want to mess anything up, but I noticed some serious mistakes on your Idaho Congressional Districts Page. Rep. Labrador's picture is captioned Mike Simpson (the 2nd district representative) and Rep. Simpson's picture is captioned Ted Poe, a representative from, I believe Texas?

- Hello, Sean. I've taken the liberty of editing your post to turn the article name into a Wikilink for convenience. I'm sorry you're having difficulty: Wikipedia is a big, complicated beast, and it can be tricky to find your way through it. Have you been pointed at the article WP:referencing for beginners? That should address your problems, but if it doesn't please come back here and ask a more specific question. One immediate point is that references should be attached to the particular information in the article that they support, rather than just listed at the end; because the point of including references is that somebody who comes along at any time and wants to be sure that some information in the article is correct knows where to go to check it. The article I linked tells you how to attach references to points in the article, but get them listed at the end. --ColinFine (talk) 22:46, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
adding photo
To whom it may concern,
I am trying to add a photo to the Plasmodium malaria site to enhance it. It is a part of a project for one of my classes at college. But I cannot figure out how because I am not a 'auto confirmed' user, though my professor said other students have been able to upload photos. What must I do to be able to add a photo/image?Blsipp14 (talk) 22:41, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, Blsipp14. Assuming the photo you want to upload is free of copyright (the holder of the copyright has explicitly placed it in the public domain, or released it under a licence such as CC-BY-SA, then you can (and are encouraged to) upload it to Wikimedia Commons instead. This will mean that it is available for any Wikimedia project (eg other language Wikipedias), and also Commons does not have an autoconfirmation barrier. If the photo is not free of copyright, or you do not know for certain that it is, then you may not upload it to Commons, but you should also not upload it to Wikipedia unless you can meet all the conditions in Non free content criteria. Please see Upload wizard for more information. --ColinFine (talk) 22:53, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Anthropology
Good Morning I was not sure how to register in order to start editing My interest is in Anthropology Your recently updated site (2014)
has much information on the exodus of human kind from Africa.
However, another site on the migrations to South East Malaysia tells a conflicting story of homo erectus (Java man) being there back towards the Pleistocene era
In 2007 analysis of cut marks on two bovid bones found in Sangiran, showed them to have been made 1.5 to 1.6 million years ago by clamshell tools, and is the oldest evidence for the presence of early man in Indonesia. Fossilised remains of Homo erectus, popularly known as the "Java Man" were first discovered by the Dutch anatomist Eugène Dubois at Trinil in 1891, and are at least 700,000 years old, at that time the oldest human ancestor ever found. Further Homo erectus
Can we reconcile this information? signed Richard FitzGerald — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.148.149.123 (talk) 23:09, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your interest! Your can create an account via WP:ACCOUNT. Wikipedia articles are generated by individual volunteers using the sources they have access to, and so it is not unusual that different articles may have been built using different sources. Wikipedia's content should be based upon the most reliable sources available and if multiple reliable sources exist that support differing versions, we attempt to represent all major interpretations in the proportion that they are held by the mainstream academics in the field.
- You can use the article's WP:TALKPAGEs to initiate a discussion with those who have been involved in the writing of both articles bringing up the contradiction and working to a resolution based upon the sources. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 00:43, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for spotting the contradiction. I have deleted the first sentence from the Prehistoric Malaysia article, for these reasons:
- Its claim that remains of Homo erectus dating to 1.83 million years ago have been found in Malaysia is implausible. It contradicts statements in the same Wikipedia article, in Early human migrations, and elsewhere. (Ok, the way Wikipedia works, this is not a valid reason for deleting it. But it made me look harder.)
- The lede (opening section) of a Wikipedia article ought to summarise the article, not to contradict it.
- The reference given for the statement was to a Google search. This is not acceptable: it is not a citation of a published source.
- The reference did not even lead to a Google results page. It gave a 404.

Reflinks
On 30th April, the Help desk told me about Reflinks as a way of entering footnotes in an article (see my query #Sky Blu (2).) I have just tried to use Reflinks when editing the Wikipedia article on Addison Cresswell and entering a new footnote, but have got into a tangle. The Help desk referred me to WP:REFLINKS, which has reams and reams of information on Reflinks, but no clear instructions on the actual steps one needs to take when using this method. I did my best and made a workable footnote (#10), but it is clearly not a Reflinks footnote, which is much neater and I know looks quite different.
(1) I would like to know how to use Reflinks properly, so can you tell me the steps I need to take, please?
(2) As you will see, in place of footnote #8 there is now a red error message. I cannot understand this, as I did not touch this footnote, and I don't know how to put it right.
(3) Is there a simple way to revert edits one has made? I ask this because I sometimes change my mind about edits I have made in an article and want to restore the original, and that can sometimes be very tedious to do manually.
Can you help, please? --P123cat1 (talk) 17:20, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- The way to revert is to click the article's "History" tab, select the appropriate versions before and after the revision(s) concerned, click "compare selected revisions" to check the difference to be sure that you have the right change(s), then click "Undo", and supply a suitable edit summary.
- The reason for the error message on ref 8 is that it uses the named reference "Radio Times", but you deleted the definition of that ref in your edit. The idea of named references is that they are defined once and used more than once, so if you delete its definition you need to check that it isn't used elsewhere.
- I will let someone else answer your reflinks question, as it isn't a tool which I use. As I said at #Sky Blu (2) above, you can use cite web without using Reflinks. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:07, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I cannot understand how my edit deleted anything re "Radio Times" in footnote #8, for as I said I never touched that footnote, but maybe there was something in the code in my footnote #10 that overrode it. Anyway, it doesn't matter, because I see from "View history" that AnomieBOT has now straightened this out. I assume AnomieBOT is a machine, and that Anomie is a person. Is that right? I glanced at their Talk pages and it looked like that.
I hope my query about Reflinks does not get overlooked when these HD requests are gone through! --P123cat1 (talk) 19:12, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- If you look at your edits, you will see where you removed the "Radio Times" ref definition. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:26, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks again. I didn't think of looking there, though it seems so obvious now. I am still learning. --P123cat1 (talk) 20:11, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this is the way that most people use it but this is the way I use Reflinks.
- First, I have the script installed on my common.js page. Yours would be at User:P123cat1/common.js. You can just copy and paste the code right into that page and save. Then there will be a Reflinks link in the toolbox to the left of every article.
- When I am adding references to a page, I find the URL that I want, place that between ref tags, and save the page. Then when the article reloads, I hit the Reflinks link in the toolbox and let the tool fill in what references it can. Look at the preview and save if everything looks good.
- Some links Reflinks has an easier time with than others. Sometimes it can't work out who the publisher or title should be, so it fails on those links and I have to type the info into the cite web template myself. That's where knowing how to use the template without any tools is helpful.
- Hope this helps, Dismas|(talk) 20:48, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Dismas, following your instructions, I have tried to copy-and-paste some Reflinks code into my User:P123cat/common.js page, but I think it is the wrong code, because I cannot make it work thereafter.
- (1) I definitely saved the code on the .js page - it showed up as saved - but no new "link" symbol appeared on the article's edit box at the top left as you said it should. (Before inserting the code into the .js page, I think I noticed there were two link symbols on the edit page already, called "link" and "reference", but assume this has nothing to do with Reflinks. (The "links" symbol is a small rectangular button and the "reference" symbol looks like an open book with a red marker.)
- (2) I tried (separately, of course) the two codes at WP:REFLINKS on the "User:Dispenser/Reflinks" page under "Usage - simple", but neither worked. What is the code I should copy-and-paste into the .js page?
- (3) You said to place the URL in the text between ref tags, by which I assume you mean "< ref >then the URL< /ref >". Is that right? (I have put gaps round the "ref"s here to stop it showing up here as footnote "(1)"!) There should be no problem Reflinks finding the publisher in this case, as it is the Daily Mail, and the footnote reference is to an article in it. I assume you meant put this ref/URL/ref in the text on the article's edit page. I only ask because at some stage - I can't remember exactly when, but definitely after loading the .js page and trying out Reflinks - a box popped up saying to enter the URL there, but perhaps this has nothing to do with the Reflinks method you described.
- (4) You then said to save the page - did you mean click "Save", or "Show preview" at the bottom? - and then when the page reloads, hit the Reflinks link in the toolbox. I am not sure what you mean by "when the page reloads". Do you mean as it is saving, or at what stage do I do this?
- I am sorry about this! I hope I have been clear and that you can show me where I went wrong. I feel like a fly caught in treacle, but having started on this, I am determined to get it right. --P123cat1 (talk) 22:48, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- You have to copy the code setting up the portlet in your sidebar, not just teh link to the webform. That is, at User:Dismas/common.js you have to copy all the code from "// Add WP:Reflinks" to the end of the page. SpinningSpark 23:51, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Spinningspark, I don't think that P123cat1 can view my common.js page. I can't view theirs.
- @Dismas: Huh? You can't? I can see the .js pages of both of you even while logged out. Anyone can copy code, even IPs. They just can't edit it unless it is in their own namespace (except admins). SpinningSpark 07:56, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

- Spinningspark, I don't think that P123cat1 can view my common.js page. I can't view theirs.
- Pcat (may I call you Pcat?), on the WP:REFLINKS page, scroll to the bottom where the user script is. Copy the code (starting with //Add and ending with the last semi-colon). Go to User:P123cat1/common.js. Edit the page, paste the code, and hit save. Once that is done, you will have a link that says "Reflinks" in the tool box on the left side of articles. It is not "on the article's edit box". The tool box is on the left of articles where there are also links to "What links here", "Related changes", "User contributions", etc. The Reflinks link will be the last in this list. There are no buttons.
- I don't know what popup you saw but it doesn't have to do with Reflinks. And yes, you have the ref part right. It should look like . Save the page like that. Once the article is saved and you are reading it (NOT editing it!), click on the Reflinks link in the tool box. Give the tool some time to run and check its work. Click "Show preview". The "Save page" button will be greyed out. After previewing, you can save the article and the references should be filled in.
- Again, if you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
As this section is getting higher on the page, it might be best to put your questions on my talk page.Apparently someone moved this down the page since it's still continuing. Hadn't seen that done before, to my knowledge but then I don't pay too much attention to timestamps. Dismas|(talk) 01:35, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

- Assuming you mean User:Tatiana155/Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights please read the very top line which clearly states "This is not a Wikipedia article: It is an individual user's work in progress page".
If you wish to submit it for review, please press the green button, however, as it currently stands, it almost certainly will be rejected. All articles require significant coverage, in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. The only reference in your article is to the institute's own mission statement, which is clearly not independent. You need to provide references to reliable third party publications which give significant coverage to the subject.
You also need to remove all the external links from the bodytext. Some of these can be made into references, (please see Help:Referencing for beginners) but they do not appear independent of the subject, so cannot be used to justify the articles existence. - Arjayay (talk) 09:47, 8 May 2014 (UTC)- You will also need to remove promotional phrases such as "dynamic international environment". - I'm not entirely clear on what your asking, but if you mean, "can I enter text and then hit the Save button several hours later?" then the answer is: technically yes (depending on your browser settings), but you're likely to encounter an edit conflict if another editor changes the page during that time. Yunshui 雲水 10:30, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Also, if you wait a significant amount of time you will often get an error message that says something like "We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data". In practice this means that it always a good idea to copy your edit before saving so that if this happens you can click edit again and paste your changes in, and it's especially prudent if you've dallied.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:46, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Single/One Source question.
I know there are problems with an article being referenced entirely from a single source. Does this apply if the references for the article are all from a major newspaper over a wide time period? For example, the Washington Post does a story about an event in Washington DC and then does followup articles about the event 6 months, 2 years and 10 years later?Naraht (talk) 14:20, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- My thoughts: Three articles over a period of time are an improvement over one single article, but not as convincing for notability as reports from three separate reliable sources. It would also depend on what was in the followup articles. Are they just a repeat of the information in original article, or do they include new information that shows that the topic has continued to develop and be of interest over time? Are the three articles written by different journalists?, etc. —Anne Delong (talk) 16:47, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello Wikipedia. I am a newbie at this and require assistance. I am an avid Wikipedia user. Having perused the Wikipedia cites of all of my favorites, I copied how they included information.
After getting the birth records of myself and my siblings, I entered them onto my Dad's page. When I entered the family life section, it was later taken down because of copyright infringement. I thought public birth records were not public information and not subject to this rule. Can you please tell me why this section was taken down?
I think I understand why the other sections were taken down and I am working on correcting that now. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated! 199.128.94.40 (talk) 14:26, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Copyright infringement is not the normal reason for taking down children's names, the most common reason I've seen is simply that the Children are non-notable and as such may not be suitable. For example, if Michael Smithson just won the 2014 Noble Price, the fact that his children are Manny, Moe and Jack may not be suitable for the article.Naraht (talk) 14:39, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Futhermore, we try to protect minors, by not using their names, dates of birth, etc. as WP:MINORS, unless that information is already widely and freely available e.g. some sportspeople who compete in age categories. - Arjayay (talk) 14:59, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- It probably wasn't removed for copyvio. It got caught up in this edit which reverted the article to a previous version because it contained copyright violation, the removal of the family section was probably collateral damage. However, as pointed out above, this is not really suitable material. Note that birth records are primary sources and we do not normally rely on these for verification. That is not the way Wikipedia works. We mostly rely on secondary sources for our information and most particularly we rely on them to ascertain the accuracy, importance, and meaning of the primary information. Referencing errors on Gwinnett Place Mall
Reference help requested. may I rewrite the entire entry? The history is inaccurate, misleading and cumbersome by misrepresenting the fact: Simon Property Group (SPG) owned Northlake Mall, Gwinnett Place Mall and then purchased Discover Mills (renaming it to Sugarloaf Mills) and built Mall of Georgia, then borrowed heavily from banks using the properties as collateral (Gwinnett Place Mall, Sugarloaf Mills AND Northlake Mall) causing all 3 neighboring malls to go into bankruptcy and negatively economically impacted the neighborhoods and communities around each mall
May I correct the article to accurately and factually explain that Simon Property Group (SPG) owned 3 enclosed regional malls - Northlake Mall, Gwinnett Place Mall, and then purchased Discover Mills mall, then used these malls as collateral for loans to develop and construct a 4th enclosed regional mall in the same market - Mall of Georgia, then allowed the 3 original malls to go into bankruptcy. The economic impact of the bankruptcy of 3 enclosed regional malls within a ten-mile radius negatively impacted property values, employment, crime rates for the community which the regional malls serve. Thanks,

Dear editors: An editor created an article in a sandbox. I moved it to Afc and it eventually became an article. This left a redirect in the sandbox. The user then reused the sandbox by removing the redirect, and made another article. Now it looks as though I created the article (User talk:Anne Delong#A page you started (Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface) has been reviewed!). Is there anything that should be done about this? (Maybe I should just copy the notice to the correct user's talk page.) Is there a way to prevent this happening in the future? —Anne Delong (talk) 17:24, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- For future similar cases, you can ask an administrator to move the page. Admins have the ability to move pages without leaving a redirect (essentially, deleting the source page). It is possible to delete your edit so you are no longer the creator but I'm not quite sure what grounds in policy would permit that. You are actually the creator as you created the redirect. Maybe WP:CRD criteria #6 "non-contentious housekeeping" would apply, but I would need to think about it and/or get advice before doing it. Ask me on my talk page if you want that done. SpinningSpark 19:04, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm... I have moved hundreds of pages are from sandboxes to temporary titles, and a large number of these have then been moved to mainspace, most not by me, and this is only the second time this has happened. There'd be no way to know which one might be accidentally reused, and moving them all without redirects just in case might cause other problems. I think I'll leave it be and hope that the referencing on that article improves and that nobody asks me what "neuromodulation" is. Thanks for taking time to lay out the options. —Anne Delong (talk) 20:46, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Computing reference desk too wide?
Wikipedia's own Computing reference desk is displayed as too wide on my monitor, which has a 1680 pixel horizontal resolution, I can tell by the horizontal scroll bar appearing at the bottom of the browser window. Yet, when I scroll the window all to the right, I still can't see anything that would overflow the standard display size. What is causing this? JIP | Talk 18:09, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Some of the code stuff in the section Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing#Javascript Error: "Uncaught ReferenceError: __adroll is not defined" overflows the normal display size (at least for me), though it doesn't seem to go quite as far as the scroll bar goes. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:27, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
I created a wiki page on Anastasia S. Fontaines and it was deleted. I need help with this article. New to this.
Can someone please help me with the article I created on Anastasia S. Fontaines? I don't think I provided enough information or the right information. Any assistance is welcome. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Venus2211 (talk • contribs) 19:30, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- The article was deleted because you didn't demonstrate why Fontaines is notable enough for inclusion in this encyclopedia. Here at Wikipedia, "notable" means that a person has become known in their field enough to be written about or given awards within the industry and so on. For the specifics, you can see WP:NACTOR which gives the notability requirements for actors. If you still feel that Fontaines is notable, the better course might be to go through the process at Articles for Creation which will help you by getting input from other editors before the article goes live. Dismas|(talk) 19:55, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
I can now see that I have more in the way of content to include in my page for Ms. Fontaines (Anastasia S. Fontaines). It's the technical side of things I am having difficulty with. Also the page for James Duval. It asks for "Citations" and this is also confusing. He has an action figure made of him. I am trying to understand how to reference and make a citation and feeling in the dark. The page for Ms. Fontaines is a big project for me. Very daunting but I want to get through it and also prove to myself that I can. I normally give up on or avoid technical things I know nothing about. Thanks, thanks, thanks. Venus2211 (talk) 21:42, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- I expect your main problem will turn out not to be the tedious technical stuff of citing a reference in the correct format, but of finding independent reputable published sources which write about her. Something like a review of a play in the New York Times, crediting her performance. (I don't know what an "action figure" is, but I suspect it is not a citable source.) But if you have already found such sources, and are struggling to know how to cite them, just tell us here what they are, and someone here can show you how to do the citing. Maproom (talk) 21:57, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Maproom:, it's a toy. Like G.I. Joe. See action figure. Though I'm not sure why an action figure of another person matters here. Maybe Venus2211 is trying to ask how to cite the existence of the action figure? If that's the case, just finding a magazine article that talks about it or something along those lines would do it. Dismas|(talk) 23:33, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi Maproom}} ::@Maproom:
- @Dismas: . Thanks Thanks Thanks Venus2211 (talk) 07:59, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211
certified latitude and longitude coordinates
How do you make the latitude and longitude show up in the upper right corner of a page about a place (in this case specifically a museum)? Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mandykn (talk • contribs) 21:18, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

- Wikipedia is not a TV guide and not everything that is "genuine" is appropriate to include in an encyclopedia article.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom
- Notability notwithstanding, the broadcast history section is for the original run only. A syndication section might be a good idea, but it should have a few channels included with the other to start. A one-item list would look strange. It was on the Sci-Fi Channel and Book TV, too. Copyright and company logo question.
The company Social Gaming Network has updated to a new logo and there has been a request over at WP:PAIDHELP in regards to adding it to our article. Looking at the logo and our rules on what is considered copyright-free over at Wikipedia:Logos#Copyright-free_logos, does this new logo meet requirement 3? It is simple text with a more or less simple geometric shape around it. Is it then copyright-free and merely trademarked? SilverserenC 01:54, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I'd say it definitely falls under being simple, as it is just text and a simple bordering around it. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:50, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Trying to contact you is insane. I can't even leave a respectable e-mail. But I'll try again. I had the lyrics for a few songs stolen from me in a practice basement in 1987. One of them was a song called Paragons Of Purity. I think you know the rest. I kn
Wow,
Ok, I'll try this. Look, I wrote the lyrics to a song back in 1987 called "Paragons of Purity" Ring a bell? I know you didn't steal them, but I think a toe-headed kid you know that had been attending Utah-State University did. He was in a local band at the time. Monkey-slap him for me, would you? It's Ok. I was mad as hell for a long time, but then realized, I just have to move on. BTW, I liked my version better, but I did like the tunes you used. I am starting a record company, and already have a semi-pro recording studio. So by-gones be by-gones. Just thump that terd in the forehead.
If you care to contact me, my phone number is (removed). It would be cool just to hear from you. Oh, and by the way, I go by R.J. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:7:6180:88:DCD2:A1C7:86FA:30A3 (talk) 03:19, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
