Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Semi-protection: IP edits subverting discretionary sanctions - very frustrating. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:00, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined for now - only one IP recently - if the disruption worsens maybe full protection but I don't think it's that bad yet. AlexiusHoratius 22:14, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP User has been vandalizing page, redirecting page to various articles. RickinBaltimore (talk) 20:10, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined for now - disruption appears to have died down. AlexiusHoratius 22:12, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    2016 Sweden asylum center stabbing

    temporary-protection: - vandalism.--BabbaQ (talk) 20:31, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined - not many anon edits and although the page is rather active it's not really experiencing the level of disruption usually required for full protection. AlexiusHoratius 22:09, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Rageh Omaar

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 20:55, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. AlexiusHoratius 22:11, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Game Show Network

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – same problem with IP with a LONG history of disruptive edits/unsourced info about GSN becoming a 24 network dedicated to Steve Harvey. Digifan23 (talk) 23:43, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Day trading

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Random IP repeatedly adding opinion to lead. While sourced to an Italian site, that does not specifically address ethical issues with day trading. The dynamic IP does not seem to want to participate in debate over the relevance and keeps adding the same opinions without further comment. Temporary protection may get them to engage in the discussion underway on the article talk page. noq (talk) 23:53, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Nashville International Airport

Semi-protection: Persistent IP and un-autoconfirmed account vandalism. This page seems to have a very long history of vandalism and edit warring + edit wars. 172.56.38.186 (talk) 00:07, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Wikipedia:Sandbox

Semi-protection: Long-term IP vandalism. Coordinated effort and/or sock puppetry is very likley here. 172.56.38.186 (talk) 00:22, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected indefinitely. Surprised this wasn't done by now - that page seems to be a magnet for test edits by new users for some reason. --Bongwarrior (talk) 00:27, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Bongwarrior: Thanks, however it appears as though the page is still unprotected. Can you fix this, please? 172.56.38.186 (talk) 00:42, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    • @Bongwarrior: Are you sure you want to permanently protect the sandbox. First, all sorts of welcome messages and level one warnings direct users and IPs to go there to make test edits. If they can't make edits there they are going to wonder why they were sent there. Next, it is better for the vandalism to happen there then in article space. Also, the nonsense posted there, if it doesn't get removed by other editors, is removed by Cyberbot 1 so there isn't damage to the rest of the encyclopedia. If it does get protected there is bound to be some blowback so you might want to discuss it at WP:AN first. Thanks for you time in considering this. MarnetteD|Talk 01:02, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
      • Gotta agree with MarnetteD here. I just manually cleared it; we could have Cyberbot clear it more frequently as opposed to protecting it. Dozens of templates and warnings and pages direct new users to experiment on that page. I think semi-protection would be an ungood thing that asks for all kinds of trouble. Semi-protection for a few days. A very determined IP is moving from one IP address to another, and keeps trying to add unsourced nonsense to the lead sentence. --Tryptofish (talk) 00:35, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Evan Tann

Semi-protection: High level of vandalism. Almost all content has been removed by vandals. Valid and relevant citations and the content they referred to have been removed. Image has been removed without explanation. Many of these edits beginning the 28th of May, 2015 are from new user accounts with insufficient history. Some of the edits were already reverted by Hgilbert, but the page has been vandalized again. Appears to be a coordinated effort or sock-puppetry over a period of more than 6 months. Iwoo.222 (talk) 00:56, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Katietalk 02:28, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    The Nines

    Semi-protection: High level of vandalism. 172.56.38.186 (talk) 00:59, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ben Rogers (Days of Our Lives)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – On-going disruptive editing by IP's and anonymous editors that go against several of Wikipedia's policies and ibox template guidelines. livelikemusic talk! 01:45, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Days of Our Lives

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continued on-going sock-puppetry editing that goes against Wikipedia's policies on consensus and their own guidelines. Previous protections were from same kind of behaviors. livelikemusic talk! 01:46, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Fastlane (2016)

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism and Persistent vandalism. Donnowin1 (talk) 02:04, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Kingdom Hearts III

Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Most recent semi-protection was just removed, and the vandalism has started again. Requesting pending changes this time to see if that helps or makes any difference. Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:34, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Interstate 15 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) Unprotection: I don't think this page needed to be protected in the first place because there was less vandalism.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
