    Shortcuts

    Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in two cases. The first case is restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. In the second use case, this page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here).

    This means that content deleted after discussion – through deletion processes – may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process but through deletion review instead. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided.

    Do not request that pages deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

    Declined pending further information. This was undeleted over six months ago with a pledge that it would be worked on, but no edits were made to improve the entry for resubmission. Articles for creation is not an indefinite hosting service for material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia's article mainspace. We may be willing to restore it again, but only if you provide a definite assurance that you actually intend to work on it and provide a short description of what you intend to do to improve it to meet our policies and guidelines.     Hi. Last November, I left a comment on the article creator's Talk page asking if they were OK with having it go live. My opinion back then was that it was ready to go live (or was very close), but I didn't do it because the creator apparently hadn't pressed the Submit button. I did not hear back from the article creator. If/when this is restored, I plan to check again that it's ready for mainspace and then move it.     Balto-Slavic swastika

    Soft deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Balto-Slavic swastika. This was an interesting experience. I followed an external link to the article in question, just to see it has been deleted. I had to look up the content of the article using the WayBackMachine [4]. I cannot vouch for the contents of the article as a whole, but even if we assume that the article is garbage, the concept is still notable. I have checked some of the sources, and unfortunately they are mostly Russian sources which I cannot verify. But in any case, just a casual web search can verify that as a concept this is notable. The solution should be to delete unverified claims, not to delete the article. That may leave us with a stub article, but that's still better than to delete it IMHO. —BFG (talk) 05:13, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    I'm not even close to a subject matter expert. But given the opportunity I would do a hatchet job on it. As I said, since I'm not able to verify Russian sources, I would have to remove just about everything, and leave only what I can personally verify. I will leave a comment on the talk page, referring to the particular starting version, in order for Wikipedians with more knowledge to be able to go back and potentially restore text.     The Proposed Deletion didn't identify anything specifically wrong with the content of the article. It might be taken as suggesting that the article was a vanity page, but Marcel seems to be a genuinely notable figure: for example he features in the two relatively recent journal articles listed below.

    Member who brought up the deletion claimed there were no notable sources, however the page was originally published last year and was in fact published in the first place because of the multitude of sources that supported the need for the page.     • I accidentally restored this, as I wanted to compare it against the AfD page. Offhand the pages are nearly identical. The page that was deleted via AfD had far more sources, while the draft has more people on the list. I have to concur with Graeme Bartlett that this would pose a huge BLP issue.
    The issue here is that this kind of goes beyond being just a draft restoration - we have to consider BLP once it goes live, as well as the consensus at AfD. This could be discussed on WP:BLP/N or perhaps even WP:DRV, since ultimately restoring this draft is kind of like trying to get the deleted article restored.
